A return to Hope Harbor means a feel-good read in a small town on the Oregon coast with great characters, like Charley, an artist, food truck chef serving tacos and knowledgeable advice, two men of the cloth, Father Murphy and Reverend Baker, who love to banter with each other, and of course, sea gulls, Gladys and Floyd, and other regular characters. As the town name implies, hurting people tend to wind up in the town with their secrets and pains but decide to stay in the welcoming community.
Can a leopard change its spots? Can a person change their ways? Sometimes when one hits bottom, they have nowhere to go but up. But will the person they might have hurt believe they have changed? In this story, Christi travels across the country to ask Jack for a loan. She was a snobby, spoiled rich girl but is down on her luck. Jack is a bestselling author, hurt by Christi eleven years ago.
Steve and Beth Adams lost their son due to a genetic problem. She blames Steve and he has regrets. They are separated. Do they have a chance to reconnect? Two children are hurting. What will happen to give them a happy future? This is a nice addition to the series, and I highly recommend for an uplifting read with forgiveness, healing, and new beginnings.

Revisiting Hope Harbor,Oregon is such a delight. It is a true homecoming to this charming coastal town where the characters are always welcoming and more than willing to lend a hand or an ear when needed.
Christi Reece is a woman out of options, owing money she doesn't have she desperately tracks down a man from her past sure he can help her.
Author Jack Colby has made a new start, far away of the humiliation caused to him by Christi in what feels like a lifetime ago. Getting a shock he realizes she has tracked him down here and he wants no parts of her or the past memories of their failed romance.
What ensues is a surprise to both of them I'd say. She unfortunately has to stay in town longer than she had wanted to.
I really enjoyed making the reconnection with the characters from previous books, especially the "taco guy" who always has a kind word and good advice to pass along.
Christi wants Jack to forgive her for the past and for him to put his trust in her. As he starts to rewarm to her he enjoys her company more and more but will it lead to a romantic reconnection?
So heartwarming, I enjoyed seeing down on her luck Christi get another chance at a better life.
There was a bit of a mystery surrounding an unfinished cottage and this had a fitting resolution as well. Superb book and I look forward to more books in this warm and engaging series.

Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher/author. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Characters: Jack and Christi were both well-developed characters with backstories that added to the plot.

Language: Clean.

Moral: A major theme in this novel was forgiveness.

Plot: Most of the plot moved along well. The only parts that dragged were the event planning scenes.

Random comments: I haven't read the rest of the books in this series, so I don't know if this has been explained ... but Charley and the seagulls seemed a bit mystical to me.

Romance: Clean. Just kissing, and the epilogue contained some vague mentions of the characters enjoying their honeymoon.

Writing: I've read a lot of romantic suspense books by Irene Hannon, but this was the first of her contemporary romances I've finished. I found her writing style smooth and easy to read.

Overall: Sea Glass Cottage was an entertaining book, and I'd recommend it to those who enjoy Christian fiction and contemporary romance.

I love visiting Hope Harbor and Irene Hannon’s enchanting stories. SeaGlass Cottage contains two second- chance romances.
Beth and Steve are estranged following the death of their son. It was heartbreaking to lean their back story. But it was interesting to see how Charley, of the taco truck and resident sage, dispenses wisdom and gives a little nudge towards their reconciliation.
The main romance is between Christi and Jack who had know each other thirteen years in the past. Christi was a spoiled rich girl with no thought about how her actions could affect others. She has become a Christian and through her adversity, she is trying to rectify past sins. Jack has chosen Hope Harbor as a refuge and plans to continue writing novels there. However a death of someone he knew brings new situations his way. Now he has to juggle additional responsibilities with his career as an author and his job as a police officer. Circumstances bring Jack and Christi together time and time again. “ Coincidence is nothing more than a small miracle in which God chooses to remain anonymous.”
It was great to re-connect with characters from other books in the series as well as friendly seagulls, Floyd and Gladys. As before, the community comes together. This time to solve the problem of a dwindling tourist season.
The writing is accomplished, the characters are memorable and the spiritual lessons are worthy of contemplation. Hope Harbor is just a fun place to be. I am glad there are three more books coming!

Back in Hope Harbor! Yes, when I saw another installment in this series, I had to read it!

Irene Hannon writes like she is giving tight warm hugs, and I couldn't wait to page turn this one.

We all have regrets! Yes, things we would love for do overs! This read is about second chances, will they succeed? We get to be there, and hope that things turn out right!

Come and say hello to old friends, and new, and especially Charlie, still want the taco, and Floyd and Gladys and Harpo!

Make sure you read the epilogue!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

"As my abuela used to say when I was a boy back in Mexico, coincidence is nothing more than a small miracle in which God chooses to remain anonymous."

A lot of coincidences seem to be popping up around Hope Harbor lately, and the local town sage has his finger on the pulse beat of every single one of them. When a down and out young woman shows up out of the blue seeking assistance from a former "acquaintance", it puts a local law officer on high alert for ulterior motives. After all, the "fool me once", "fool me twice" adage still applied . . . didn't it?

How about a grieving small business owner who offers the aforementioned lovely newcomer a job, then realizes that they may have more in common than not, for both are living under the burden of deep regrets amidst the desire to believe that change is possible. . . . . isn't it?

And that lovely Sea Glass Cottage! When it becomes as much of a character in the story as its human counterparts, readers know without a doubt that the hand of Providence is touching lives, restoring souls, and bringing what was once thought dead, back to life. . . . in Hope Harbor!

"For a tree there is hope; if it is cut down, it will sprout again, its tender shoots will not cease. Even though its roots grow old in the earth and its stump die in the dust, yet at the first whiff of water it sprouts and puts forth branches like a young plant." Job 14:7-9

What a lovely, thoughtful, romantic chapter in the lives of the author's beloved coastal town residents!

'Asking for help from a man who hated you was hard. Really hard. But she was out of options.'

It's hard to believe that this is the 8th book in Irene Hannon's 'Hope Harbor' series. Eight years of loving this small Oregon coastal town and its wonderful inhabitants. Eight years of looking forward to yet another visit. And here we are-back in Hope Harbor for another great story from Hannon. She sure knows how to do this small-town life well. I was so glad to read in the afterword that there will be at least three more books in this series.

This visit was particularly poignant. As usual, Hannon's Hope Harbor books impact more lives than just the main protagonists. I was very moved reading it and distinctly look forward to the next in the series.

My thanks to Revell Publishers for a copy of this book via the Net Galley platform. The opinion in this review is entirely my own.

Sea Glass Cottage is a small-town, second-chance romance.

A Delightful and heartwarming story, full of characters with complicated pasts... I enjoyed this story and how the author allowed the reader to unfold the layers of regrets, that the characters in the story carried around.

Christi is desperate. The one-time golden girl's life has tarnished, and a cascade of setbacks has left her reeling. She needs help, and she's certain Jack Colby is in a position to provide it.

However, when she shows up in Hope Harbor, Jack wants nothing to do with the woman who betrayed him. He's built a new life on the Oregon coast--and there's no room in it for Christi, even after she takes refuge in a charming but mysterious cottage nearby

Another thing that made this book such a joy to read was the way the author intertwined the characters and their journeys. Christian -clean romance.

It was wonderful getting back to Hope Harbor!! Sea Glass Cottage was an inspiring romance with two story lines. I enjoyed them both. Can people change? Can there be forgiveness and restoration in a relationship? This book dealt with these issues and I loved seeing how it all panned out. Of course, it was a happily ever after. If you are looking for a romance with
a beautiful setting, with precious characters, and with a happily ever after, then you will enjoy this read. I had a wonderful getting away from reality into this fictional world.

"Coincidence is nothing more than a small miracle in which God chooses to remain anonymous." (223 p.)

Love that tagline on the back of the book: "Come home to Hope Harbor -- where hearts heal...and love blooms." That's exactly how I feel when I open up one of these books -- a wonderful literary homecoming that feeds my spirit and gladdens my heart.

This is the eighth book (!) in Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series and she promises at least three more to come! Which, truthfully, has me weeping with joy because I love this series so much! The books can easily be read as standalones but there is something magical about following the goings on in Hope Harbor from the very beginning. And that includes keeping up with some of the quirky and even mysterious secondary characters that appear in every book.

Like Charley. If you're familiar with the series, you're likely as enamoured with this artist extraordinaire, whether his medium is paint or tacos, as I am. He's often on the sidelines, gently guiding folks in the right direction with uncanny clarity. You might say divinely inspired even. :-) And he really gets to let his light shine in Sea Glass Cottage. It's brimming with 'Charleyisms" -- sage advice that pierces my heart as keenly as it does our heroes and heroines. Like: "Putting God's words into action can change hearts faster than spouting verses." (223 p.)

In fact, I brought Charley with me to bible study recently. One of the questions in our homework was to find a quote by a popular Christian influencer which reflected the week's theme. Others quoted Corrie Ten Boom, C.S Lewis etc. I shared this Charleyism -- "Reconciliations in the human realm can be difficult, but with God there's no risk of failure or rejection." (224 p.) Everyone wanted to know if it was Charles Stanley I was quoting and I was like, "Um, no, just Charley from Hope Harbor." Which got us side tracked for a bit as I waxed poetical about the series and the need for everyone in the whole wide world to read it. :-) (I might be a tad obsessive about all things HH.)

Anyway, true to books 1 - 7, Hannon delivers another epic tale brimming with emotional impact. We have not one but two romances and both are of the reunion/second chance variety. Hard hitting love stories, with each couple struggling to cope with loss and rejection. But hope is on the horizon if they can learn to extend forgiveness. Such beautiful tales of redemption and fresh beginnings. I teared up in more than a couple of places.

This was a sweet story about forgiveness and reconciliation - not only of old or broken relationships, but also reconciliation with God for more than one character. But it was also a story about learning to trust again.

I enjoyed all the characters we’ve met in this visit to Hope Harbor. From the serious Jack, in-need-of-a break, Christi to the two different seagulls. I liked how Christi’s care and love for others just spilled through on the pages.

“But even when people give up on God, his love never wavers. He just opens his arms and waits to welcome his children back, with all their faults. Reconciliations in the human realm can be difficult, but with God there’s no risk of failure or rejection.”

Another heartwarming story in a small town on the coast of Oregon we all have come to love!

I've never been to Oregon but reading this book made me feel like I was right there, viewing the beautiful Oregon landscape around Hope Harbor. This fictional coastal town is very much like my own small town in Kentucky---a place where most people know you, and they probably know much of your business! This can be good, but it can also be bad, and author Irene Hannon offers a poignant depiction in her newest novel.

Sea Glass Cottage is the eighth book of the Hope Harbor series, and the two main characters certainly have a lot to overcome. Hannon always impresses me with her ability to weave wonderful faith elements into her stories. Readers are given a subtle, inspiring message and this book is no different, as she shows the value of trust and forgiveness. We are reminded that recognizing our mistakes and being truly repentant is certainly necessary but being able to forgive is essential!

Much of my joy in reading this series has come from the reunion with characters from the previous books. They are like old friends eager to share what has happened since we last met. It's wonderful to learn that Hannon now plans three more books set in Hope Harbor. I truly enjoyed Sea Glass Cottage and I recommend it to all who enjoy contemporary Christian romance.

Christi has driven from Dallas to Hope Harbor, Oregon, to ask a person she used to know to help her. She's almost out of money and needs a loan to help a situation at home. She and Jack had dated years ago but their relationship ended on very negative terms. At the time, she was a spoiled rich girl who had whatever she wanted.

Jack made his home in Hope Harbor after their breakup. He's a policeman and has just published his debut novel. He hasn't seen Christi in years and his bitterness towards her keeps him from being friendly when they first talk to each other. Even though he has no intention of giving her the loan, he asks her to give him a few days to decide.

After a few wonderful things happen to Christi in Hope Harbor - the offer of a job and a place to live - she decides to stay in this small friendly town. She and Jack keep running into each other and every time they do, their bitterness towards each other starts to thaw. Will they be able to open their hearts to let go of the bitterness and start a new relationship?

I enjoyed the story about Christi and Jack and plan to read some earlier books in this series. This is a clean, Christian novel of love and loss, forgiveness and family. Not only are the two main characters very likable, there are also some secondary characters who make this novel fun to read. Overall, this was an easy fun book to read. You knew how it was going to end way before the ending but the journey to get there was great to read.

The eighth book in the Hope Harbor series was one that I awaited expectantly, knowing that it would be a good story with Biblically based lessons within its pages. I certainly was not disappointed! The story of Christi Reece, a young woman who lost the golden spoon she was born with, and Jack Colby had once been in love. But Christi made the choice to stay within her golden circle and Jack left her and all of the rejection behind. When the story opens, Jack is a police officer and an author who lives in Hope Harbor and Christi has suddenly appeared in town to ask him for a big favor. Of course, he is not inclined to do anything for her, but in a series of God-incidences, the two are thrown together and get acquainted with the new person each has become. This is a second chance at love story, teaching the lessons of forgiveness and hope as well as taking responsibility for bad choices. The town of Hope Harbor embraces Christi with all of her brokenness because she is also talented and enthusiastic about helping out the town. I really enjoyed the storyline, with the romances between two different couples, both dependent on forgiveness and moving on. There were parts of the story that were predictable, but enjoyable regardless because the characters were such real people, complete with flaws, sins and neediness. I enjoyed this trip to Hope Harbor and look forward to more. Each time I visit, I look forward to seeing the seagulls who seem to be predictors of who should be together and to hearing the wisdom from Charley, the taco truck guy who is also a talented artist. Charley has more wisdom than any one human should have, so it is obvious that he has a close walk with God as he dispenses advice and sets up chance encounters to benefit his taco customers. He is a lovable man, like the town’s grandfather who knows all and sees all. The entire book was uplifting and showed what can happen when we let go of our control over our circumstances and let God into our hearts. Good messages in a great book!

Hope Harbor is just what the name suggests: a place to find hope and perhaps healing and peace. Christi hopes to secure a loan from an old acquaintance, someone whom she hasn’t seen in a decade, when they parted not on the best of terms. It’s a long shot, but it’s her only chance for the money she desperately needs. Jack is now a policeman and a writer whose debut novel hit the bestseller list. The last person he expected, or wanted, to see in Hope Harbor was the girl who broke his heart. But there she was, illegally taking refuge in an unoccupied house. Their story is a sad one, but the aftermath is even sadder. Beth and Steve also have a shared tragedy that drove the happily married couple apart. Whether the love they once had can survive the loss they share is the question they cannot face. These lives of these two couples will gradually intertwine, as they attempt to make right the wrongs of the past. The characters are well developed, and the storylines are masterfully interwoven into a cohesive and engrossing tale. One character who makes short but vital appearances is Charley, artist and fish taco guy, who is beloved by all and who has the uncanny and miraculous ability to know what people need to give them hope. And this he does, along with a fish taco. This is a lovely and gentle novel, just like the rest of the series, well written and entertaining. Bad things may happen, but if they do, it is better to find refuge in Hope Harbor than anywhere else.

A return trip to Hope Harbor is like a family reunion with people you know and love. We get to visit with various characters from previous books, and of course that includes Charley the artistic taco vender and purveyor of sage wisdom.

Sea Glass Cottage provides all the adversity a reader would expect to find when one-time golden girl Christi Reece and former boyfriend Jack Colby's lives get off track. It turns out they're both very different people than they used to be after eleven years have passed. They have so many issues to overcome and chances to extend forgiveness and grace. I loved watching it all unfold. Christi's compassion and tenderness with Jack's daughter Hannah was enough to win me over, and Jack too.

I also love Hannon included a second romance equally challenging and appealing between two parents after the loss of their teenage son. I had a lot of sympathy for both Beth and Steve and was cheering for them all along the way. Foster parenting and adoption is heralded, and I applaud the author for adding young Noah, with all his artistic talent and need of a loving home.

Some of my favorite quotes from Sea Glass Cottage:
*"Adversity can be a road map to God."
*"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." (Einstein)
*"A mighty hand governs the eternal clock."

Sea Glass Cottage is such a wonderful, charming story I can hardly wait for the next family reunion in Hope Harbor. This is a series so rich and full, I expect it to become a classic for our times. In my book it already is! I so appreciate Revell Publishing making a copy of Sea Glass Cottage available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

Another lovely installment in one of my all-time favorite series. Irene has crafted a beautiful setting in her Hope Harbor series between the setting, the characters, and the storylines. These are books I devour and dearly love. The newest one, “Sea Glass Cottage”, is a wonderful story that focuses on Christi and Jack, with a secondary storyline between Beth and Steve. The storylines work together beautifully, and I loved reading about both the storylines and how they came together. Throw in a couple of adorable kiddos, and Charley who is a Hope Harbor fixture, and you have a pretty perfect story all around. Can’t wait for my next trip to Hope Harbor!

Christi Reece comes to Hope Harbor looking for Jack Colby, and she's hoping he will lend her money because she's out of ideas. Over ten years ago, Jack found out Christi wasn't the person he thought she was. But people can change and Christi is hoping that she can convince and show him that she has, in fact, changed from the person he thought he knew.

Another good installment in the Hope Harbor series.

Sea Glass Cottage is a story about forgiveness, healing, and turning to the Lord. There was not just one couple who needed a second chance, but two. It was a very intricate story line with two couples hoping for a reconciliation. Every time I thought I may have things figured out, Hannon would throw a curve ball. Which is what life is like in reality, full of curve balls. Hannon does a great job at bringing the reader to Hope Harbor and making them feel like they are a part of the town. I loved the small town atmosphere and the supporting characters. Hannon made them every bit as memorable as the main characters. Especially Charley, I feel like there is a story there, and maybe I am missing it because this is the first book I have read by this author. Hopefully there is a book about Charley, because he really left an impression of this reader. Fans of Christian fiction and clean romance will enjoy Hope Harbor. I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jack Colby is Christi Reece's only hope, so she drives up to Hope Harbor to ask for his help. Though his reception of her is cold, events keep coming up that prevent her from leaving, and she finds herself falling in love with the small coastal community.

Christi has changed a lot since she and Jack were last together. I loved her heart for helping others and how time has matured her, Hope Harbor welcomes her with open arms and I liked how she befriends Beth and supports her through all that she is going through. I liked how Steve keeps reaching out to Beth and his friendship with little Noah.

This is a well written read, with a wonderful cast of characters, plenty of heart, second chances, faith, and forgiveness. I loved returning again to the small town community, and seeing some familiar faces along the way. I thought that the character development was well done, with good growth arcs, and a strong sense of community and family. A heartwarming read full of faith and second chances.

Thank you in advance to the publisher, Revell (a division of Baker Books), for providing an advanced review copy through Library Thing. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own.

While this is the eighth (8th) HOPE HARBOR SERIES book, it is the fourth I’ve read.

Two years ago, I read Starfish Pier (#6). Last year I read Hope Harbor (#1) as it was the Revell Reads book of the month in anticipation of the release of Blackberry Beach (#7), which I also read. I purchased books 1-6 prior to the release of book #7, and still need to read books #2-5.

I’ve also read the first two books of the TRIPLE THREAT series as well. Hannon expertly balances her writing of the two genres and definitely doesn’t cross over with them.

Even though this is part of a series, it could be read on its own. Though, it might be a good idea to read the others prior to this one to get a feel for the setting of the town as well as the role certain characters play in the series.

Each cover is beautiful and truly sets the stage for the little town of Hope Harbor. I love that this ARC came with a sweet little map to get the picture of the town. A character guide would also be a sweet bonus as well.

There are some characters from the previous seven (7) books that make a return or are mentioned (referred to) in this story:

🏡 Eric Nash (Sea Rose Lane)
🏡 Sheriff Lexie-Graham Stone & Adam Stone (Sandpiper Cove)
🏡 Ben Garrison & Marci Weber-Garrison (Pelican Point)
🏡 Jeanette Mason & Logan West (Driftwood Bay)
🏡 Steven Roark (Starfish Pier)
🏡 Katherine Parker & Zach Garrett (Blackberry Beach)
🖌️🌮 Charley – Hope Harbor’s artist, and taco-peddling sage

The only major characters missing are Tracy Campbell and Michael Hunter from Hope Harbor, along with BJ Stevens from Sea Rose Lane. Some of the characters are more prominently featured than others. Minor characters from previous books seem to be missing as well.

New characters:

🏡 Christi Reece (former socialite, now in Hope Harbor)
🚓 Jack Colby (police officer, Christi’s ex-boyfriend)
🎀 Hannah (Jack’s daughter from a one-night stand)
🚓 Steve Adams (Sergeant with Oregon State Police)
🖌️ Beth Adams (Steve’s estranged wife)
🖌️ Noah Walsh (kid in foster care; no father, mother deceased)

Hannon doesn’t give the authors ONE story arc with Christi and Jack’s story – she works in multiple ones:

📖 Jack and his daughter Hannah
📖 Beth and Steve working on mending their marriage after a tragedy
📖 Steve mentoring Noah, a budding artist
📖 Marci’s issue with the wildfires cutting down tourism for Hope Harbor

The story is told from Christi, Jack, Steve, and Beth’s POV.

Hannon, like always, gently wades into some serious issues, but doesn’t preach at the reader. Some topics that are mentioned or referred to are: near DUI (person had been drinking alcohol before accident, but NOT legal DUI); drug overdose; potential child abuse; malnourished child; and the issue of foster children. Readers sensitive to those topics will need to exercise caution.

As with most books, it is the first line that grabs the readers attention:

“Asking for help from a man who hated you was hard.”

Yeah, that wouldn’t give me confidence at all. I’m not even sure I’d even ask for help.

Christi needs a loan from Jack, who recently had a best-seller. And, Hannon instantly puts the author’s “big money” into perspective a bit, though never in detail.

Of course, Jack can’t say no directly – but he’s going to. After all, she was a rich socialite who broke his heart. But, she isn’t the same person some 10 years later (are any of us?). In fact, she’s driving an older car and came from Dallas where she had moved to. [That part definitely stuck with me – when I was four; my mother, grandmother, and I moved from Dallas to California.]

Still, Jack can’t trust her. Though, why she needs the loan is an interesting story in itself and I LOVED the fact it wasn’t criminal or medical related.

And, like always – Charley is there with the first free order of tacos and sage wisdom for the new arrival.

Christi’s luck goes a bit south due to the fog and she finds a sweet cottage – Sea Glass Cottage – to stay in. Jack comes by to trespass her, which leads to not one, but two opportunities for her.

Christi is cleared to leave because of the trespass charge, but contemplates staying as she likes Hope Harbor – who doesn’t? I mean, isn’t that how the series goes? She is then offered a job, and ends up also getting a free place to stay.

A personal issue comes up on Jack’s end – a reminder of the incident with Christi, or the night she broke his heart. Jack needs to take custody of a daughter whose mother died recently.

Beth and her ex-husband, Steve, have their own issues then to work through after a family tragedy. As a result, Steve begins mentoring a young orphan – Noah.

The longer Jack is around Christi, he begins to see that the girl he knew no longer exists. He finds the new Christi appealing and intriguing, but he isn’t there yet in wanting a second chance.

Christi’s timeline for the loan is ticking down. But, she does find opportunities in helping Marci with attracting tourism to the town.

Jack deals with his own issues when it comes to instant fatherhood – and, as the blurb goes … now, he needs Christi. But, even after he relents to their mutual agreement of helping each other, he barely cracks when it comes to her.

Hannon weaves a poignant, often difficult story about love and loss; along with different kinds of loss – a parent, innocence, marriage. She also has a sweet reminder of the loss – a sweater of Hannah’s mom’s that gets damaged to show how raw and fragile grief is. Hannon also adds in themes of second chances and making amends.

Definitely an inspiring read.

I honestly couldn’t put this down. Reading with breaks here or there, I finished it within a 24-hour period. Hannon’s use of short chapters, engaging dialogue, and descriptive writing kept the story moving.

Anyone who’s been reading this series will see that like always, Charley’s advice is always on point. He doesn’t preach to the person, but more or less offers an unbiased view of the situation. I truly enjoy his appearances in the book. And, I hope that the author gives him his own story in a future book even if it is on the side.

This was a dramatic, inspiring, heart-breaking, and emotional “most-read”. Tissues might be needed.

Overall, while I truly loved the book, and cried a few times, I honestly disliked Jack quite a bit. While I get no one wants to get burned a second time by a flame, poor Christi was almost desperate to show she’d changed and Jack was tromping over her efforts. I felt like telling Jack that if you don’t give someone a chance after they’ve changed, there really is NO incentive in attempting to change – people won’t accept it.

I would’ve liked more about Noah’s current foster parents as well as his own background to get to know who he was and how he got where he was. It seems like there was more to it, but never fully addressed.

I am hoping to get to the other books before the author’s next book in this series releases next year. According to the notes, there are at least three more planned, bringing the series total to 11.

Those who’ve read the previous books won’t want to miss this. Fans of the author are sure to enjoy this latest release as well. This reminds me quite a bit of Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove and Blossom Street series, so I am fairly certain those readers will enjoy this series as well too.

As this is distributed by Revell, a primarily Christian/faith-themed publisher, there will be strong references to faith and Christian beliefs. Some of those are integral to the characters but not the story. It is a clean read with no overly intimate scenes or bad language.

Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon continues are stories in Hope Harbor. This was book number eight and Irene still has fresh ideas intertwined with solid characters like Taco Charley. We all need a Charley in our lives to remind us to live out our faith.

Beth and Steve’s story was a story of heartbreak and second chances. I don’t want to give away too much of their story but I think you will love it. The story of Steve with the foster child (from another family) was so sweet how he supports his love of art.

The main characters are Jack and Christi. Jack feels betrayed by Christi many years ago and does not welcome her into town. She has come to ask for a loan. He doesn’t want anything to do with her. Jack also has some additional surprises coming his way. Hannon sprinkles in stories of their past to help us understand what happened between them and how Christi has grown up. She was a spoiled rich girl and is now a woman of faith trying to right some of her wrongs.

There were some fun scenes like when Jack finds her in the cottage; both times.

This is an easy read of second changes and grace.

Triggers; there is mention of sex before marriage, someone has lost a child,

Returning to Hope Harbor feels like coming home. I’ve read each book in this series, and the townspeople seem like old friends. Charley, with his compassionate heart and other-worldly wisdom, is a perennial favorite. Hope Harbor itself carries a sense of sweet mystery, and I enjoyed seeing how it affected Jack and Christi, as well as Beth and Steve.
Irene Hannon’s characters are realistic, recognizable and appealing in their brokenness and longing for hope. What better place to find hope than Hope Harbor? Faith is a vital component of this story, since forgiveness can only come through faith.
I loved Sea Glass Cottage and award it five golden stars (regular ones aren’t enough). I was given a copy of this book by the publisher; all opinions are my own. Highly recommended!

Have you visited the fictional town of Hope Harbor through Irene Hannon's books? I enjoy this quaint fictional town and the characters so much. Sea Glass Cottage is the eighth book in the series and they do not have to be read in order to be enjoyed.

Sea Glass Cottage is a beautiful story of how God can truly change people for the better. Christi Reece is desperate. At one time she was a spoiled, rich young woman and lived a luxurious life. Then she hit rock bottom after several setbacks. She rallied to change her life and make the best of things--while looking to God for guidance. Still, she needs help now so she can help her close friend--and decides to drive across the country to find Jack Colby to see if he will help her. However, Jack and Christi have a history that left Jack feeling bitter and angry with Christi. He has rebuilt his life and isn't sure if he wants to include Christi again--in any capacity.

I really enjoyed the characters in Sea Glass Cottage. They all seem so real--facing real-life challenges. Hannon doesn't shy away from hard topics in her books but they are not difficult to read. Rather they are uplifting. Jack and Christi are both likeable people who seem to be very real. I also like the story of Steve and Beth as it unfolded in this book. All of these characters have had to make changes in their lives after facing some tough challenges. One of my favorite characters in this series is Charley. I especially like this artist/taco stand owner with his words of wisdom and penchant for being in just the right place at the right time. He always adds a lot to the stories. I especially like that he has more of a role in Sea Glass Cottage than he did in previous books that I have read in this series.

Hannon's writing is so well done that Sea Glass Cottage flowed so well. I just could not put this book down until I was done. Each character is well defined and the plot kept Sea Glass Cottage moving along. Hannon also did well in this novel with including God but not sounding preachy. I think this is one of my favorite books about Hope Harbor. I also like how we get to revisit previous main characters in each new book, but again, each book also stands alone as a good read for those who have not read previous books.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Interview and Reviews. All opinions within this review are my own.

Christi Reece has come to Hope Harbor, Oregon, to ask for a favor. She is not the person she used to be, but the man she's asking for the favor doesn't know that. Their first encounter is when she trespasses on a house called Sea Glass Cottage, very near the beach. She's cold and there is a fog that she is afraid to drive through, but she finds the cottage. The door to the cottage was open, so she went inside to take shelter. She built a fire and slept on the floor. The following morning Jack Colby is still on patrol when he finds her in the cottage. He is quite disbelieving she's there in Hope Harbor and really wants nothing to do with her since she broke his heart more than a decade ago.

While Christi is figuring out what to do, she gets an offer to stay in the Sea Glass Cottage (free of charge--basically she's being asked to house-sit) and a job offer all in the same day. The only fly in the ointment is the level of distrust Jack has for her.

Irene Hannon has written a somewhat predictable book that is enjoyable and engaging. Hope Harbor is the kind of town everyone wants to live in, with friendly people coming out of the woodwork to help out someone in need. Parts of the book were fun and brought a smile to my face as I read it, and parts of the book reminded me of the redemption we all can have. Leopards may not change their spots, but truly redeemed people do.

It's a good, easy read worth every bit of four stars, where the reader will find redemption, reconciliation, and really good fish tacos.

Revell Publishing and NetGalley.com provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
