USA TODAY Bestselling author Kathy Ivan can’t remember a time when books and reading weren’t a part of my daily life. I was blessed with a mother who instilled the love of reading in me at a young age. That progressed into a passion for the written word in all forms, which led to my writing. Every day I have new stories and new ideas roaming through my brain, the characters chomping at the bit for their turn to be front and center and have their story told. Today that love of storytelling translates into my desire to write and share my stories with others. I write in many genres, but I’m currently concentrating on romantic suspense and paranormal.

My day job is about as uncreative as it gets. I do medical transcription, spending numerous hours at the computer each day trying to decipher the mumbled, garbled and often unrecognizable words the physicians are dictating, in an effort to make a complete and comprehensive patient record. It’s almost as bad as trying to read their handwriting!

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I’ve lived in various places throughout my youth, from California to Hawaii and back to Florida (Key West), before finally settling in Texas. I make my home outside Dallas, Texas with my spoiled black lab (Missy).

I am a member of Romance Writers of American and the Dallas Area Romance Authors (DARA), where I’m an active member; you can find me at the local meetings each month.

That’s about it off the top of my head. I love talking with other readers and writers, so feel free to contact me.

Overall Amanda rating: B
Ok, so. This story was not catching my attention right from the beginning, maybe I was tired, who knows, but it wasn't until a few chapters in that I found it as interesting as the previous books. This book was a sweet story, not a real "edge of the seat suspense" like the other books. The one little area where it was intense was very well written. I think that this was almost a fluff book. The entire story was very well written.
Derrick: single dad, FBI, trying to be and do everything for his job and his son, why not add in a love interest.
Daisy: is sweet as pie and has needed a good man in her life.
Ian: my heart broke for this kid, abandoned by mom, dad works a lot, new town, new school, that is a lot of change for a little boy. I am so glad that the author saw fit to give him people to help him through all of this, as well as Otto.

This overall was a good read.

"Insanity of the first order'

Ms Patti and Douglas just can't help theselves, they have already adopted Daisy as one of their own and have now added Derrick and Ian too. All three need the love and acceptance of the Boudreau's but they also need each other. They have a bond, a soul deep understanding of just what the others need, Daisy needs to be needed, to give her care and love, with a heart the size of Texas she has more than enough love for Derrick and Ian. Derrick is floundering, he has no idea how to balance work and home life and feels like he is failing, until Daisy, she is calm, thoughtful, considerate, loving and everything he didn't know he was looking for.
I love this addition to the series, three awesome people becoming a family, with an extended family of Boudreaus...lots of love, laughter and danger!

Derrick is the ninth book In Kathy Ivan’s Texas Boudreau Brotherhood series. In this one readers witness the romantic journey of Daisy Parker and Derrick Williams. Although these two are not part of the Boudreau family, Mr. and Mrs. Boudreau have taken them into their sphere. Readers met these two in several of the other books in this series as secondary characters. It was nice to see them move up into the spotlight with their own book. Derrick runs the San Antonio FBI office. Daisy runs her uncle’s diner, Daisy’s Diner. As such their paths have intersected each other. Derrick has a 9-year-old son, Ian. Derrick is divorced and until recently had joint custody of Ian. However, his former wife gave up her parental rights leaving Derrick with full custody and a son who is struggling dealing with abandonment from his mom. Daisy and Derrick are attracted to each other. They refuse to act on their attraction because of circumstances in their individual lives. His are his son’s feelings. Her is the secret of mistakes made in her wild youthful days. Will they overcome their self-imposed obstacles? You must read this book to find out.

Yet again, Ms. Ivan has outdone herself in this character-driven romantic plot. I enjoy her skill in creating complex characters. Readers witness their dreams, strengths, and vulnerabilities. She allows readers to journey along with her characters as they work out their fears and challenges. I am fascinated how Ms. Ivan includes different brothers into her plot. Doing so allows readers to get to know each of the Boudreau brothers and appreciate this tight knit, open, and supportive family. Unlike the other books with their two-prong plot, this one focuses on romance. Nicely done, Ms. Ivan.

Welcome back to Shiloh Springs with Derrick, Kathy Ivans latest book. Another great addition to the Texas Boudreau’s series. Derrick is a single father trying to balance his job with the FBI and being a full time father to his son Ian. Daisy runs a restaurant in SHiloh Springs and has been flirting with Derrick when he’s in town working with the local law enforcement.

I love how the relationship between Derrick, Ian, and Daisy progresses. There is also the hugh problem with Derricks job and taking care of his son. As conflicts and problem looms, we get to see Ms Patti and the Boudreaus rally to help. Well written, good paced story and an excellent addition to the series. Enjoy!

Single Parent!

Derrick: WOW! Fantastic writing! I liked that this was about a secondary characters that still connect with the Boudreau family. Seeing Derrick being pull so many different directions because he is trying adjust to bring a single parent of a 9 year boy and his job as an FYI agent. They he met Daisy and couldn't stopped thinking about her. It was a great story!

Swoon!

I do want to visit Shiloh Springs. There has to be an extra Boudreau neighbor or friend hanging around looking for a "new" in town friend.
I'm so happy for the new couple in the Boudreau clan.

Cozy to the max!

Even the extended Boudreau family does not disappoint! Low key suspense as new custodial parent Derrick tries to help his son through his mom's abandoning him. Sweet romance with town favorite Daisy!

Though not one of the brothers, Derrick is considered family & wants to put roots down. He loves his son & both find comfort in Daisy. When Daisy is in danger with a missing teen, see Derrick tear apart everything to keep her safe. Wonderful as always.

Love all the Boudrea brothers (and sisters) and these secondary characters. Glad Daisy got her chance and would love to know what happen to the dog.

An exciting series that proves families don't have to be connected by blood to have a loving bond. Well worth reading.

Derrick works for me FBI and now has sole custody of his son, Ian. Daisy lives with her uncle and owns the diner.
Derrick and Daisy have been dancing around each other for awhile but the timing is off.
Rafe has asked Derrick for help on a case. Ian is tired of being left behind so he follows a stray dog.
Will they find Ian? Will Derrick and Daisy finally get together?
