Fiona Brand's "Double Vision" is an excellent tale of a convoluted murder mystery which spans several decades. It deals with the troubling account of a young man (Alex) who is wealthy, spoiled, and evil, and his relationship with our heroine, the lovely and talented Rina.
The tale begins in Nazi Germany, and spins through the decades, jumping from 1944 wartime actions to the modern day drug wars, with a dizzying array of characters whose lives somehow but not completely are linked across the decades.
I enjoyed the telling, but there were a couple of small points that bugged me. First, the wartime activity seemed to have no relationship to the rest of the story, except possibly as a sidebar in history. Second, although the story is supposed to be about Rina, it was halfway through the book before she became a major player.
It was still a very well written book, and if I hadn’t read the back page synopsis I would not have kept looking for the way Rina's tale related to the rest of the story. In a way, the back page was a spoiler, since Rina was merely a presence for the first third, but we know from the back that she is blinded in an accident. We also know from the same source that, heroic as her mother's efforts are, the woman is doomed. This would still not have been an issue if it hadn't taken until page 133 out of 386 to reach "Rina's Story".
I recommend this for readers of historical fiction, those who enjoy murder mysteries, and those who are interested in good fiction, but not those who are strictly readers of cozies.

This was a pretty interesting 1st book in a trilogy surrounding a Columbian drug cartel that is mixed up with Nazi escapees from WWII who are now in the arms market. In this one, Rina, the main character is struck blind when she is in an accident and witnesses her mother's murder. Twenty years later, she's married the man behind the murder and finder herself finally regaining her memory and her vision. The FBI, CIA, and Federal Marshalls get involved in an effort to save her life and take down the cabal behind all kinds of international misdeeds.

A book of three parts, the first being Rina Morrell's childhood and how she ended up blind. The second being her marriage and her subsequent re-gaining of sight and the third her adventures while trying to keep away from her husband while he tries to find her.
It's an interesting path she has to take from blindness to sight, she's a strong character that I found quite believable. Also JT was quite interesting, if a bit stalkerish.

I was unsure of this book at first. It took awhile to catch my attention. I felt like I was reading some glitzy-glamour novel from the 80s. And I didnt like the ending either. I feel I am being forced to read the remaining books in the series to see what happens next.

I finished it, that's about all I can say. The book was confusing ( a german element that didn't really seem necessary to the story.) a long buildup and the action was over fairly quickly. Even the ending was dissatisfying.

I enjoyed this story. It was a little hard to follow in the begining, but it got better at the end. The romance between Rina and JT was fun and believable. It was a quick, easy read. A drug cartel, WWII and bad guys what is not to enjoy?

For fans of Olga Bicos, Allison Brennan, and Jasmine Cresswell. Lots of suspense, action, and dark mystery that unfolds as the story progresses. A lot of time being wasted as you read unimportant parts, like the flashbacks. But it helps to unfurl the story. 2/5 stars.

I couldn't finish this book. I could barely start it. It just didn't appeal to me at all...too much background info thrown at the front. Too many good books out there to waste a minute longer on this one.

I enjoyed this book. I was enthralled until the end. The plot could have been expounded on but for the most part it was a good story.
