All his books build on Al’s decades of experience covering the highest echelons of Washington as well as some of the world’s most desperate conflicts and most hopeful and inspiring moments. As a correspondent for Voice of America, Al was on the scene in Afghanistan and Iraq, at Southeast Asian refugee camps, the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center, the rally where Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated, and along streets devastated by terrorist bombs. He also reported to the world about uprisings in Beijing, Kyiv, Cairo, and Manila, as well as hope-filled elections in Egypt, Gaza, and Libya, among other places, indeed including the United States.
Al was expelled from China in 1989 for his coverage of the Tiananmen Massacre, accused of “illegal news gathering” and “fomenting counterrevolutionary rebellion.” Among other honors, he was named Communicator of the Year for that coverage.
Al also wrote the two-act farce Murder at the Butcher’s, which won Play of the Year at the Royal Palm Literary Awards and had four sold-out performances in its premiere run in November, 2019.
His novels have won a Florida Book Award and six Royal Palm Literary Awards, as well as other recognition.
Al has led writing seminars for Writers Digest, BookFest, Broward County Libraries, Florida WritersCon, Delray Beach Writers Colony, and at many other online and in-person events. He also taught graduate-level journalism as an adjunct at Northwestern University, his alma mater. Al has published commentaries in several outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Politico, and DefenseOne. He blogged on writing for the Florida Writers Association, and his work has appeared in Writers Digest, Mystery Scene and other publications.

Palestinian Propaganda
All the terrorists are "martirs" while the Israelis are "Zionist" th e author is a clear antisemitic guy. Mr. Pessin, all jews are Zionists. You cannot separate one thing of the other one. King David founded Jerusalem well before Mahoma exist. I

This story is incredibly fast-paced and action packed. Stakes are very high when things seem to constantly go wrong and the main characters finds themselves in a bind where they can’t particularly act according to plan, adding to the stress and tense situation. Nail-biting, this book kept me up at night for the last few days until I managed to find a spot where I knew the MCs were safe, for just a moment, so I could get my own shut-eye. Al Pessin is a new author for me, but I will have to give the first two of the Task Force Epsilon series a try in the future. I have high hopes that they’ll supply as much heard-pounding, adrenaline rushing, nerves as Shock Wave has.
