“Suck it,” she told the monitor. But part of her tingled.
Idiot.
"When are we going to meet?"
Her heart leapt, but she scowled. Even knowing it was a bad idea, she typed, “AS IF.”
"Don’t be like that, a rứnsearc. You know you want to."
Damn him. She didn’t have time for this. There were files to download.
People to manipulate. Men to kill.

Honor Genovese, AKA Aequitas, is number eight on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. A hacker extraordinaire, Honor lives to destroy those who destroy others. Ever since the murder of her family and the kidnapping of her sister Hannah, Honor has worked tirelessly to unmask and obliterate the predators of the world, and to find the sister stolen from her. But when she suddenly discovers Hannah on the other side of the world, Honor must leave the safe, insulated realm she has built and dare to reach out to the man who hunts her.
Cian Lazarus, former merc and renowned security specialist, has spent years tracking and tracing the identity of the elusive hacker Aequitas, but the woman he’s discovered is far more than he ever expected. Now he spends his days challenging her, enticing her, daring her to respond to the alluring pull and the inexorable history between them. When Aequitas finally—reluctantly—reaches out to him for help, it is everything Cian has been waiting for.
Honor wants only to save her sister. But Cian is determined to unmask and claim the woman he's spent years chasing. And neither is prepared for the reality which awaits them, or the consequences of the truth that will ultimately define them…
Aequitas is a Novella which includes characters first introduced in The Getaway, but can be read as a stand-alone work. It also includes excerpts of Hope Anika's novels The Getaway, The Bequest, In Plain Sight and Evolution: Awakening.
3.5 stars rounded to 4 stars. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because I like the characters that are more or less introduced in this story. It’s really short and ended at a VERY disappointing 66% on my kindle. It’s a novella.
We get to meet the elusive Aequitas (Honor) and her years long struggle to find her kidnapped sister, Hannah. Honor has been hiding for years after staging her own death (witness protection wasn’t good enough) and during that time has become a hacker extraordinaire. As good as she is, it wasn’t good enough for Cian who finally found her. Reluctantly she asks for his help in finding her sister. Hannah is found, but sadly for Honor, wants nothing to do with her.
There’s no cliffhanger but it’s easy to see that another story is a- brewing. When, pray? Guess is good as mine.
Another winning story by Hope Anika. This is full on intrigue and about hackers and missing sisters. Cian has been looking for Honor or AKA Aequitas, a world famous hacker. This book is an edge of your seat story and it was full of action. This is a wonderfully written story. It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She is head strong, tough, smart but so afraid of living. She takes down monsters from the keyboard. He found her but didn’t expect to love her. Together they can be explosive but can she trust? A quick short read to a HEA.
I loved this book. The author has such a way with developing characters it's amazing. The plot is engaging and keeps you reading even after you should go to sleep!
I don't know where to start this was such an unusual, exciting and amazingly moving story. From the first page to the last it was an engrossing, exciting, mesmerizing story filled with relatable lifelike characters. Lucie, Sam, Alexander, Benny and Daisy became like my family who I was rooting for and caring deeply about! I am always blown away at his Hope Anika can balance horror, realism, and terrible situations with love, passion, support, some humor, and ordinary human interaction in such a clever way. Alexander practically ripped my heart out with his suffering and trauma but by the end of the book there was a tremendous amount of hope, love, support, understanding and compassion expressed and his story ended in a very satisfying way. We got a bonus sexy and interesting love story with Isobel and Tony both of whom had their own issues to work through to come together. All of the characters in the story were fleshed out enough to enhance the story.
This story was darker than your typical romantic suspense and it went deeply into psychological insights that could help not only the characters in the book but the reader also. It was a very heartfelt story about survival and putting the past in prospective and deciding in spite of the past, for yourself, who and what you were going to be going foward in your life. I found the philosophy in the book very powerful and uplifting and gave me a lot to think about. I will never forget this book and I know I will be re-reading it. Sometimes a book and an author make a very deep impression on you and the sensitivity and humanity described in this book was a beautiful experience to read. Obviously I highly recommend this book... It is not lightweight but it leaves you uplifted, hopeful, enlightened and happy. Give it a chance you will be amazed how excellent it is...😇
Honor and Cian make a good pairing. Honor is a hacker who digs up incriminating evidence to punish the monsters in the world b bringing about their own demise. Monsters who like the people who killed her family and stole her sister while leaving her to die from bleeding out. But she survives and with help, fakes her own death and works under the pseudonome, Aequitas to bring about her own brand of justice in the world all the whole hiding away from the real world. Cian has made it his mission to track her down in revenge for taking out the monster that killed his mother. But what he finds out about the true identity behind Aequitas, he sees a ‘kindred spirit’ and makes it his mission to make her his.
There was the annoying change of spelling between “Hannah” and “Hanna” and a few missing words but otherwise a smooth read. This is my first read by this author and I look forward to reading more of the series.
So I started a project, going through my collection of romance type books on my kindle, reading them if I don't remember them, and sorting them into new collections - trash, good, awesome. This way I remember which authors to keep an eye on.
I had good memories of this author, but didn't remember this specific book so I read it.
Amazing.
Seriously, this author is very, very talented. It is a rare romance book that truly has good writing. Good plot. Good characters. Good everything. I hope this author writes more books soon.
I did like Aequitas, and the story wrapped up.well but at the same time I felt like I miss a lot of that there was a previous story that I should have known about in order to be better connected in the story. Still, it was a good story.
Compact and powerful. Wonderfully orchestrated and mesmerizingly captivating. Wow! A beautiful firework from beginning to end. And very effectively an appetizer!
