Fenrir

Rate this book
They left him in the woods as a sacrifice to an ancient monster but Stellan found a better way to tempt the beast.

After losing his father, Stellan Berg leaves for a sabbatical to the old country in search of a family legend. He didn't plan on becoming the townsfolk's sacrifice to the ancient creature in the woods. But when Stellan wakes up alone in the forest with nothing but his wits and a hunting knife to protect him, his fate might be sealed.

In the shadows of a mist-shrouded mountain fjord in Norway, the monster Fenrir roams the forest. According to local legends, the giant wolf is a ruthless predator feeding on anyone who wanders into his woods. Will Stellan be Fenrir’s next victim or can he tempt the beast to take his body and spare his life?

Warning: Fenrir is not a shifter and this is not a traditional romance.

I swear I can go lengths with my curiousity. Damn.

Man x real wolf. Not a shifter so technically zoophilia? 😧😬😭 Idk, but the wolf can talk and do stuffs not like what I imagined :’)

Anyway, the beginning and end was kinda sloppy and nothing made me feel attached except the fact that I was so curious about this book that I picked it up immediately. I thought this would be trash, but surprisingly it wasn’t that bad. The middle part of the book was kinda like the bigfoot and yeti books I’ve read before except not cute.

So yeah, the only thing that was bizarre is because the wolf is a real wolf. Despite this book did not focus on any aspect of depth, I still have to admit, the term shifters make a HUGE difference 💀

Otherwise, not memorable ofc, but ok.

After reading the author's note, in which they state that there were some fun twists in the story, I got really excited. Sadly, the twists never appeared.

I won't go into details but I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what fun twist we were going to get so when I reached the ending of this story I felt dumbfounded. The cover pretty much tells you everything that's going to happen in the story, and the shortness of the story doesn't really enhance the story itself. The main character wasn't well fleshed out and the emotional connection wasn't there.

Cool concept tho

The cover is gorgeous, I'll give it that.

Really disjointed writing. How much time did he spend in the village? How much time was he in the forest? Who knows? I certainly do not.

Other than that, the blurb is essentially the story. There's no twists and turns, it's exactly what you think you're going to get when you hear he's off to a remote village where legends say a sacrifice is giving to a wolf god thing.

I feel like saying this is not a shifter book is not quite the same as saying this is beastiality... but this is beastiality for those that are wondering. I think that's something readers should be 100% clear on before deciding if they are going to read this.

And how exactly does one scream in a loud whisper? And why was there so much whispering (20x)?

Warning: This book contains straight up Beastiality. No warning about it anywhere as a “hey, this book has a human person having sex with an actual sentient wolf… lolz” (except the whole this isn’t a shifter book but if you’re not familiar with the genre and its terms, it might catch you by surprise) but just… Beastiality throughout the entire book, as in, the MC has sex with the literal wolf that’s on the literal cover… literally.

Uhhhh……. Where is the so called “twist” the author promised in exchanged for not leaving spoilers?

Also, there was little to no connection between the MC’s.

I was dying for that twist though but it ended how I thought it was going to. No twists at all.

The author asked us not to leave spoilers in exchange for a super duper cool twist but… since they didn’t deliver their end of the bargain and I think Beastiality it’s something that should have a big ass TW;Beastiality blasted on the blurb, even if it seems obvious to you… here I am, giving you that spoiler. Mind you, I tagged it as spoilers so, if you wanted to be spoiled, that’s why you’re reading this. That is why the “spoilers” button exist. Authors seem to forget that little thing.

PS: The cover is gorgeous though so I shall give it two stars just for that.

Holy $#itballs! This is a very different story. It's not a shifter story in any way. It's not a romace either. But, it was very interesting. Oddly hot lol. Definitely take a chance if you are looking for something totally different 😉

Now, with books like these there are poor reviews that just kink-shame, and then there are bad reviews for poor writing. Way too many of the former (also it's different when it's a sentient animal who speaks in comprehensible language, in my opinion. Don't complain if you still read after reading the summary, which literally says Fenrir's not a shifter, lol).

I just thought the writing could be better. It was a really promising premise, but... *cough* little to no prep for a monster wolf? Like Fenrir is on-page "bigger than an elephant", my dude. And our protag didn't expect knotting? So funny.

It felt a little too short for the huge mythos involved, too, but it was okay overall.

This is kind of difficult to rate, honestly. It's short, its monsterfucking/beastiality (its an intelligent, talking wolf-god, isn't that more monster than beast? a question for the academics), and yet oddly fascinating. I guess that makes it a 3.5?

I mean, it is exactly as promised. I almost wanted it longer to flesh out the background more - more about the weird little village, more about the Fenrir legend part, more about the after, more ominous scenes before getting carted off to fuck be sacrificed to a giant wolf...it wasn't overly complex writing, and a bit jumpy at times, but again...it delivered what it said it would.

"I'll give you anything you want. I'll do anything if you let me live"-famous last words of almost every desperate sod in an unbelievably sticky situation...

Or the start of an absurd and ridiculous opportunity in Stellan's case

I'm just playin', I knew I was gonna read the crap outta this in one go and I did! I really thought it was going to be longer buuut a short, hottt read was exactly what I needed. No unnecessary drama, no drawn out meeting between our MCs, just a human boy and some good old fashion monster

I don't know if this was intentional- but the timing of this release was just perfect! I get some MM to satisfy my Norse cravings the day after Loki's season one finale, how cool is that?

I see you miss Sterling and I love you for it♡

I loved this book and this world that Sterling has created.

Stellan and his goal to find out more about Fenrir was a perfect quest in this folklore takeaway.

When he lands on Fenrir's island and is sacrificed to the beast, I was worried about how the love story would play out and Sterling did not disappoint.

Stellan's care and devotion to Fenrir was topnotch.

I loved how similar this book was to the old fairy tales and folklore. I could see it perfectly in my mind except updated for today's marvels.

This book will not be for the faint of heart or for those who want a traditional romance.
But if you want to go a little bit out of your comfort zone, I would definitely take a chance on this tale.

I am a new fan of K Sterling so when she said she had a new book coming out I was excited. Excited so much I didn’t bother to read the blurb.

This book was so far out of my comfort zone but I really did like the story. Some unexpected twists, but twist isn’t the right word but I can’t think of what I’m trying to say.

I really liked Fenrir and Stellan and what they were able to develop with each other. Honestly I wouldn’t mind catching up with them in the future.

Oh boy... needs some kind of warning before hand. I get that Fenrir's a magical, mythical creature but he is still a magical, mythical wolf who throughout the story. Liked the writing style though, compelling and interesting. Made me feel invested with what will happen next. Would be interested to read more from this author 👍

Very different!

This book is definitely a departure from the authors other books story wise. Stellan gets sacrificed to the wolf Fenrir while on a sabbatical to write his book. This was not a long story but I found I really liked it and would definitely read more like this. Also of note, that Fenrir is NOT a shifter, and while I wouldn't classify this book as a romance, there are erotic scenes involved.

Not a bad read..Stellan and his wolf Fenrir..it's a pity the author didn't follow through on the twists and turns promised at the beginning..and as for keeping a secret well there wasn't really a secret to keep..bit disappointing on that front....Probably not a re-read but not bad for a short story x

This was more of a tease than a full story.
K. Sterling herself put it well into context when she wrote on her Patreon, "...they activated the part of my brain that was born in a Tumblr dumpster..." coz of the genres/things it touches on.

It was an okay read.

Writing his Dad's book!

Wow, fascinating tale of a young man wanting to finish his thesis on folk lore which he had hoped to do with his Father but time ran out on that, so off he went on his own. What he found was going to be Inspirational.

What a wild, howl-of-a read! It’s dirty (read the warnings), twisted, spicy hot and I loved every page. Fenrir and Stellan may not have a typical romance but what they do have is powerful.

Intense short

Intense dark short, quite enjoyable read with Norse mythology at it's root.

Also felt a bit Germanic, with tones of Hansel and Gretel.

This is a book that showed up in my favourite watering hole, m/m book recs on Facebook. I was intrigued enough to buy it and read it.

Fenrir is a cute little story but I read it and wanted more. More tension, more development of the relationship. Just more.

I feel like this story wasn’t for me because it didn’t have the elements that I think make a book great.

There seriously should be a warning in the beginning of this book. The writing style and the premise of the story were both fine. But I regret reading this.

Decent read

Would read again. Kinda reads like horror movie plot with sexy times. The author has great outlining and everything was an easy flow. The plot made sense, where as some of these books in the genre the plot goes all over the place.

Interesting

This was different but I really enjoyed it

Definitely not for everyone but if you can rationalise that it is mythical than it really works
