This is my second read by this author, I had loved her Shattered duet.
Her writing style is gripping and evokes a plethora of emotions.
This was essentially Shadow’s journey where Richard accompanied her. So, I didn’t find the title so suitable, because his role was not so primary.
Shadow was deceived in her professional startup and left homeless. Her efforts to stay alive devastated me and broke my heart. While she was heavily struggling, she was unexpectedly given a chance to try and come out of the end of her road.
Richard was a tycoon and leader to his company but he was also compassionate and kind hearted. I could feel his attraction to Shadow as soon as he encountered her when she went to interview in his company.
It was not a lighthearted read. It was heavy, strong, intense, emotional and heartbreaking at some points.
The focus of the story was not fully based on romance, but on humanity, second chances, friendship, trust and healing.
I loved Shadow and Richard. They had faith, strength, hope, passion and drive.
They complimented each other in a wonderful way, despite their age gap, and I was anticipating for their hea.
While the story had depth, I would have liked their relationship to have a little more romantic development, without the business environment surrounding them. There weren’t sparks, yet I could feel their feelings.
A truly touching story and an emotional rollercoaster.

I am so happy that Richard finally got his own story. The hero of Rain's tale, he's devoted his life to his daughter, his business and helping others. Focused and driven, he neglects his own happiness in pursuit of his passions.
Shadow is a mere hint of her former self. Beaten, bruised and broken, she pulls herself out of the gutter with sheer determination.
I loved this story. Both of these characters have struggled, and have walls to protect themselves. Watching them both work through their vulnerabilities with not only themselves but with others was beautiful. This was not an easy read at times, but the author has taken some of the darkest, tragic things and turned them into a beautiful story. Hint bring tissues. Wonderful read.

This book grabbed me from the first page and held me captive! This is the story of Shadow and the life she has to endure, everything was taken from her and she has nothing and I mean nothing. The more I read, I kept thinking what would I do. I was brought to tears for her. And then there is Richard, good-looking older and mega rich. There just aren't a lot of men out there like him. So kind and gentle. Hold on to your emotions when this book gets started, get the kleenex ready. Bry Ann has written a story of pain and anguish, she has created characters that you will love and see the humanity in people. You will meet people that are spiteful and hateful. This book will not let go of you even when you read the last word.

Shadow is homeless after trusting the wrong person in her business dealings. After living on the street doing the best she can, she lands a job.
Richard sees something in her, but does not pay it much attention..... and until she gives her advice — in a business meeting she is setting up lunch in. That starts her down a different path that includes jealousy and some rough paths that are angsty, dark & lonely.
I love how Bry Ann kept shadow humble and afraid of returning to her not so distant past. That kept her proud, yet venerable — which allowed her relationship with richard to brew and Richard the ability to respect her for being a woman who picked herself up after a huge fall. Together thay are a powerful humble couple that wins despite their past.

Finally we get Richard's story, and holy what a story this was. I was an emotional wreck after some of these chapters, Shadow is completely bad a$$, for everything she had to overcome she is one strong independent woman. I always felt there was more to Richard's story, saving Rain the way he did, and holy it was not an easy life climbing to the top from where he was. Loved these two together, they just fit so perfectly.

Shadow is a young woman that was betrayed and is fighting to find her way back to living with security and safety, as well as get her business back. She once thought she had the world in her hands, but then reality set in and she found herself in a disparaging situation. No job, no home, no money, and freezing on the streets. When she gets a break and is given an opportunity to turn her life back around and find safety and security again, she must let herself believe that she’s worth it and that she can find that safety and security again. The only problem is that she’ll need to let herself trust again and that’s the hardest part.
Richard has been so focused on his company and his daughter that he hasn’t lived his life. He is a man that helps the underdog, but when he meets shadow in his office interviewing for his personal assistant job, he isn’t sure that she’s a good fit. He is kind, rich, powerful, and focused, but Shadow can make him lose that focus. He’s fought his way from darkness to the top.
I am a huge fan of Bry Ann’s books, and she has hit another one out of the park. Tormented Tycoon is a roller coaster ride of emotions, and as always with Bry Ann’s books has tormented, broken characters that are survivors and very bad a$&. I always wonder at how Bry Ann comes up with such great characters and stories, her books pull me in from the very first page and I leave kicking and screaming wanting so much more. I loved Tormented Tycoon and give it a 5-star review. If you like dark, tormented, twisted stories with great characters, you will love Bry Ann’s Tormented Tycoon and her other books as well.

Phenomenal and emotional story!
This is one intense, emotional rollercoaster ride of a story. Right from the very start Shadow captured my heart and soul. She lost everything and literally has nothing and no one to help her. But that doesn’t stop her from taking one last leap into the unknown. Shadow is a broken woman and has been beaten down too many times but there is unbelievable strength and resiliency in her. I was captivated by her story and broke down along with her as she struggled everyday. There are kind souls in this world and Shadow slowly finds out that they are helping her out of the kindness of their hearts.
Richard is a phenomenal man. He’s kind, strong, fierce, protective and will do anything to help others. When he first meets Shadow there was an instant pull between them. Their broken souls called to each other. The connection they have is hard to deny and pulled them together every step of the way. Their journey is rife with pain, anger, devastating moments and eventually passion and love.
This story is brilliantly written with broken characters that will reach into your heart and soul and stay there, and an amazingly emotional storyline that breaks your heart at times but then puts it back together and fills it with love.
I loved every thing about this story and I can’t wait to read what this amazing author comes up with next.

Another sensational Story
Oh my another heart wrencher!! Bry Ann's stories slay me every time!
This is Richard's story. Shadow literally falls into his office and into his heart.
Shadow is strong, resilient and brave, picking her self up from rock bottom, it's a place Richard can fully understand.
Secrets are revealed, passion is ignited and this book (like all of Bry Ann's) should come with a free box of tissues!!
We are introduced to Harlow, Asia and Jenny all of which I am hoping will have their own books.
Although I am not sure how much more my heart can take!

This story sucked me in from the very beginning and I had a hard time putting it down. I knew after meeting Richard in Broken Beauty that he had a heart of gold that only a few got to see but I was definitely NOT expecting some of the things that had happened. Richard and Shadow’s story was heartbreakingly beautiful in SO many ways!! This is why Bry Ann is one of my all time favorite authors, she blows me away every single time. Thank you Bry for another dark, fantastic story!! 🖤🔥🌸🔥🖤

If there is one thing that this author excels at in every story it is creating an emotional connection between the reader and the characters.
In Tormented Tycoon that connection is real and visceral. Shadow has ha a really difficult life, fill of heartbreaking and difficult moments but her life is about to change when she meets Richard. Richard is a tough, strong man who wasn't looking for more just as Shadow wasn't looking but the connection between these to is palpable and tension filled.
There are moments of strain, moments of lightheartedness, moments of tension, and moments of passion and all together they make this wonderful heartwarming story of love and respect.
We have met Richard in another story but this one can be read as a standalone so if you want to jump right in, I would highly recommended it. 4.25 stars.

Shadows story is a heartbreaking one. But with one interview her life changes. Little did she know how much.
We met Richard in Broken Beauty. I like getting to know more of him. He’s a successful business man not expecting to fall in love with anyone let alone his assistant.
I love how even through Shadow has had it rough, she doesn’t let that change her good kind heart. She’s so sweet and kind, even to the ones who don’t deserve it. They are exactly what the other needed.
Overall, I enjoyed it. If you wanted an h who fights against all the obstacles life throws at her and still has the strength to not take life for granted and an H who loves and protects the women he loves not matter the cost, definitely give this book a try!

Amazing!
Omg this is the story I was waiting for. I always hoped Richard’s story and for him to find his happy ending (because he deserved it) and this was it.
I feel like Shadow was the perfect partner for him. They complemented each other so well, and her story was beyond inspiring because overcoming all her struggles it was tough but she made it. 💞

Jenny hires her and takes her under her wing without asking her too many questions. Richard is attracted to Shadow but fights it for.a.long time. They bond over the project she pitches to support his charity and they a work to het her company back.

Glad I started this one without a clue
This was in my Kindle and I was needing something to give me a break from a heavier subject I was reading. Picked it randomly and was hooked nearly immediately. Such a great pairing. Survivors both. Such a family of choice to be surrounded by. Absolutely LOVED it!
