I’LL SHOW HER WHAT A DEVIL DOES WHEN AN ANGEL FALLS INTO HIS LAP.
I met her the day I killed her father. She stood there, soaked in his blood, and swore she’d make me pay when the time was right.
Twenty years later, that day has come. She’s beautiful now. A dark temptation I never expected. But Renata Lombardi is in far over her head.
Because she thinks this is a game of kill or be killed.
She’s wrong. It’s break or be broken.
JADED DEVIL is a standalone enemies-to-lovers mafia romance starring Kian O’Sullivan, brother to Cillian. This is Book 4 in the Kovalyov Bratva series and can be read as a standalone (although I recommend starting with Book 1 in the series, Gilded Cage)!
Nicole Fox writes smart, sexy mafia romance novels. She is a crazy cat lady in her late 30s with a coffee addiction, an overactive imagination, and a husband who somehow puts up with her impulsive need to keep buying new plants for their house.
Review- After reading Cillian’s story I couldn’t wait for Kian’s but I didn’t expect it to be an age gap romance. I don’t have problems with it but I just wasn’t expecting him to wait so long before he found the right woman to call him out of his high and mighty Irish stubbornness. Or the battles that he would face, unlike Cillian, I believe Kian had the most in fighting his way.
If you have Jades Soul with Cillian O’Sullivan then you’ll know who Kian is, the youngest brother. He was 25 when he first ‘met’ Renata after he slaughtered her father’s household age she was a 5 year old girl who saw it all. Now 20 years later, 25 year old Renata is in hiding with her derange older brother and hating of the Irishman Kian O’Sullivan and how he is a true monster to her. Will her world turn upside, backwards frontage when she finally knows the truth of her life??
Kian is the Don in American for his fellow Irishmen with a young Russian apprentice by his side who makes him feel his age of 45 but that don’t stop him from disarming bombs with his bare hands, killing men that are deprived like sex trafficking or rapists or just monsters that need to be cleansed from the earth. But this alpha Don will have his hands full when he’s tired of a little dumb Italian that is hitting his last nerves, but gain somebody new to use instead. Will this stubborn Irishman met his match with an Italian wildcat?
Blurb- I’LL SHOW HER WHAT A DEVIL DOES WHEN AN ANGEL FALLS INTO HIS LAP.
WOW, WOW, WOW! I have to say I am loving this series by Nicole Fox. I know this is a standalone, but to go forward 20 years and bring Kian into the mix, this was perfect! I loved seeing what happened with Artem and Cillian families and how they all came together. And then the fact that Artem’s son Phoenix is learning the ropes from Uncle Kian is something else.
This is the story of Kian and Renata. Renata is the daughter of Dom Lombardi who Kian happened to kill in front of her when she was 5 years old. Renata at the time was not afraid of Kian and felt at peace with him. Fast forward 20 years and Renata has been through hell – her brother (Drago) raised her and it was not all sunshine and roses growing up. Drago manipulated the situation with Renata and he not only mentally abused her, he also physically abused her. Drago made sure that Renata knew the O’Sullivan family was evil and they were the reason why they were always on the run. However, Renata was also a little spitfire and had determined if she wanted her freedom, no man was going to help her, she had to help herself. Renata and Kian had this banter going on – they were both attracted to each other, but knew it was wrong and would never work. Renata put up one hell of fight the entire time. But what happens when you can’t go through with your original plan? And just how far is Renata and Kian willing to go? Great story with great characters. I’m a little sad this series is over, but I am really hoping that maybe a story with Phoenix will come out next!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked the premise of this story. I enjoyed some of the tests and turns. What I did not enjoy was the repetitive issues between the main characters. I made it 62% of the way through and I couldn’t take it anymore and skipped to the end. And allow me to assure you the ending/epilogue left a lot to be desired as well. There are some things that were very predictable but were set up like they were plot twists. It’s like the sexual assault of Reneta’s first husband was an after thought. And much of Drago’s story made no sense. So I finally couldn’t take it any more and flipped to the end. This book got 3 stars because I was able to make it nearly 2/3s of the way through. But it left a lot to be desired.
I really enjoyed the first 3 books of this series. This one, however, was pretty disappointing. I enjoyed Kian's character. The 20 year jump was hard to agree with and I never pictured him over late 20s. Renata's character was so annoying. I despised nearly everything about her and I had a hard time even sympathizing with any of her issues. Most of the time, I wanted Kian to drop her off with the bad guys just so I didn't have to read them interacting anymore. 😬 The story felt choppy with random things thrown together and other somewhat important things getting glossed over.
Kian is the youngest brother of Cillian, he’s sent to America and is Don over the US side of the Clan. Things are hotter there than he expected and he makes a decision that will come back to haunt him 20 years on. Excellent reading, Mafia violence and so enjoyable and entertaining to read. Great characters and storyline too
If this woman writes it… I’m going to read it! Absolutely loved these books. They are so gripping! I was literally up till 3am because I couldn’t put it down. I love all the characters and the plot is always 5 ⭐️!
Muchas inconsistencias con el tiempo y pequeños puntos de la trama, escenas poco realistas, incluso para un romance de mafia y demasiada escritura para la cantidad de acción/trama que tuvo lugar.
Renata watched as Kian killed her father and her life did not get easier, her brother is cruel but when she sees Kian and she is all grown up now, sparks fly. Still strong even after all she has been through, her and Kian make a formidable pair. This is a fast-paced mafia read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters with lots of depth, sizzling chemistry and a story that draws you in from beginning to end. I loved it!
Good story about Kian. Seemed funny to jump 20 years ahead, especially with Phoenix. What was the deal with Jason(?) and her whole first marriage thing? I get that it was arranged thru Drago but only little bits about it was said. Why mention the material that Kian gave her if she didnt keep it with her? Was the baby a girl or boy? Was Aislings husband and child ever found? Was Drago asked about them?
2⭐️ This book definitely left me disappointed, and not a great ending to the series (assuming there are no others). I wasn’t expecting an age gap romance for Kian, and I don’t really love that he was alone for so long, but that didn’t bother me in the end. What made this a lower rating romance for me was the fact that it wasn’t really a romance story. They fought tooth and nail throughout the entire book except for the very end. Even though they had great chemistry, with very little spice as well 🌶 🙁, there was really no buildup of romance and love. It felt very jagged and abrupt going from they are starting to show that they like each other and care, to going to willing to die for each other and getting married. **warning: attempted rape, rape, sex trafficking, physical abuse**
Worth the read?: NO Reread?: NO
Read if you like: -Irish mafia -enemies to lovers -age gap (20 years) -semi kink
Love Kian and his clan, his softer and humanitarian side but I could not embrace Renata in this one. She hurt and endangered Kian time and time again, clinging and more worried about her traitorous and useless brother who uses her and abuse her just to gain power. How many slaps and betrayals does she need to see how evil her brother is?! I hated seeing Kian as captive by the enemy because of her stupidity. It was hard to get through this book when the heroine is unlikable but I read it anyway to see the ending.
3.5 rating I must say this book is much nicer that the first duet. I liked the slow burn between Renata & kian. The only thing that annoyed me is the Renata’s repetitive concerns about Drago “ He is my brother” he F***king sold you to rapist at age 18.

Jaded Devil is Nicole Fox fourth installment in the Kovalyov Bratva series. This is Cillian younger brother Kian O'Sullivan and Renata story. This book starts off with a bang it's fast pace, violent, dark and unputdownable. It drags you by the seam of your pants with nonstop action and twists and turns that you won't see coming. It's a age gap story with a older guy younger girl. Kian is the Don of New York and he works for his brothers Cillian who Don over the entire Irish mafia clan. The Lombardi has been a thorn in there side in New York encroaching on their territory and conducting raids as the New York Don it is up Kian to resolve this problem. On the day of Giorgio Lombardi wedding Kian executed his attack on the Lombardi compound slaughtering everyone. He didn't know that Lombardi five year old daughter Renata was present at the time of the assault and she watched him murdered her dad in front of her eyes without blinking. Kian spear her life on that day twenty years ago. But her and her brother who felt as if he was rob the chance of being a don or that Kian took his birthright as been planning an attack against Kiana's life for twenty years. Drago Lombardi is driven by hate because of what he loss and of thought Renata to hate Kian the same way as he does. But the truth is none of them truly knew what type of man they dad were. He was a human trafficker and a rapist, who raped a mom. He and his men repeatedly her and let her nine year old daughter watch the act. Kian had been on a stake out of one his warehouse with his young apprentice Phoenix Kovalyov Artemis Kovalyov son ware Drago and his boys set a bomb to the gate. He felt as if he had spare his life long enough and that it was way pass time to kill him. He disarmed the bomb and went to go take care of Drago in Long Island. However, when he got Drago house he was thrown off by the beautiful woman who answered the door with alarm in her eyes. She was looking at him as if she the boogeyman showed up at her door steps. Renata was beautiful and fierce he was not expecting that from the beauty in front of him. You see Renata and Drago had just had a fight she had to stab him in order to save her own life. Kian didn't want to leave her there since the police was just there and the place was hot so he kidnapped her. From there their relationship was love hate. Renata was brainwashed so much over the years she doesn't know what is true and what is a lie. Drago manipulated, verbally and physically abusive her. She had been through so much pain but remained strong. Jaded Devil was was filled with passion, deception, violence, steamy, manipulation, abuse, torture, death, murder, revenge, revelations, retaliation, rivalry, healing, love. There were interconnected characters that made the story humorous. The banter between Renata and Kian had me cracking up. The story was well written, a page turner and be read as a standalone.

A simply riveting read, unable to put down once started to read At the age of five she had watched as her Don father was murdered by Kian the leader of the Irish Mafia in the area, he had never forgotten the tiny girl with the crescent shape scar on her cheek. She had been so brave and still watching all that happened, her eves were those of a person several decades older. Renata had been left with her brother a cruel man that believed all of his hardships were down to one man and one man alone and that was Kian, he believed his loss of inheritance and his fathers’ position as Don was all down to him. His cruelty and the way he had sold his sister to a man that almost killed her simply to bring together two families, he beat her and she had had to defend herself more times than she dared recall.
Kian had been proud of the fact that acting on behalf of his brother the Don of the Irish mafia he only killed those that were guilty of heinous crimes, he had broken up sex rings and human trafficking and numerous other crimes. He had sent a good number of individuals to their death and he had always tried to ensure every one of them was guilty and deserved to die.
When he came across Renata again it stirred in him a great number of memories and although he found her to be extremely stubborn, he also had to respect the strength of character, she had been through so much and suffered and yet she had still managed to preserve her conscience and he respected this greatly.
This is a great read and I assure you that like me once you begin reading will find it impossible to put down until you reach the last page and discover the outcome. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
He left her once....he will not leave her ever again
Jaded Devil is the fourth book in the Kovalyov Bratva series. This story is about Kian O'Sullivan and Renata Lombardi. This story is something different and took me a bit to get into. It starts when Kian is twenty-five years old and Renata is five. He kills her father in front of her and everyone else in the Lombardi compound, but leaves her there. Now twenty years later their paths cross again. Renata's life has not been easy since her father died. She was raised by her brother Drago who was a crazy and cruel man with a lot of resentment, jealousy and meanness. He has made her life hard and that now included arranging a marriage for her in order to align two families together. Renata has an inner strength and intelligence which have made her a fierce woman. She also has a hatred for Kian because of what she witnessed and what her brother has taught her. Kian had a reason for what he did, as the father and his men were evil monsters. It is Drago that brings Kian back into their lives when he does something sets Kian out to kill him. When he encounters Renata a whole world of events start that will end with these two coming together in a fiery passionate way.
As with the previous books in this series Jaded Devil is a whirlwind of action, drama, emotion, and passionate chemistry. The story is well written with a story-line that is enthralling. I liked Kian, even though he kills just about everyone, and Renata, as she blooms like a beautiful rose into the woman she is meant to be. Together these two are a powerhouse couple with explosive smexy passion. Be warned that there are some darker and possible triggers in this story. Jaded Devil is a great addition to this series.
This is my first time reading a product of Nicole Fox. This is the fourth book in the Kovalyov Bratva series, but I read it as a stand-alone.
The couple in this book is Renata Lombardi and Kian O’Sullivan. This is an enemies to lovers, arranged marriage trope. Their relationship was rocky. The book focuses more on Renata than Kian. However, the pros of the heroine is that she is consistent the entire book. Nothing is more infuriating than when the heroine’s personality change after meeting her counterpart.
In this book, the plot consists of Renata advocating for herself. However, the circumstances surrounding her are unfortunate. I understand why the author chose to title the book the way she did. The book has 57 chapters with twi epilogue and written from multiple points of views, Renata and Kian.
The “romance” scene were not steamy. I will never judge on the amount of romance scenes in a book, but more the quality of the scenes themselves. The steam started approximately 50% of the book. The author did advocate for consent throughout the book. There are approximately 3 scenes. Each of the scenes were different, but there were no moments where I was hesitant to read out in public.
The ending of the book tied the book together and the character’s conflicts were address.
With that being said, I give the book a 3 out of 5. The plot was well written, but the romance was lacking alongside the repetition of some of the plot.
With thanks.
Disclaimer: I did get this book for free through Booksprout. However, I did not get paid for a skewed review. This is an honest review with no intentions to sway readers to persuade sales.
This is definitely a hot, risqué story from the start! It open with the scene of a five year old Renata witnessing her father's death at the hands of the Irish Clan's Don, Kian O'Sullivan. Fast forward twenty years in the future and a chance meeting between the two of them. Kian is after Renata's brother, Drago because he's been a thorn in his side for the last twenty years. Kian had left the young Drago alive because he doesn't kill kids or women; but he has now had it with Drago and wishes to extinguish him from his life. He tracks Drago to a small ranch style house and when he knocks on the door he is surprised by the beautiful woman that opens the door. She recognizes him, because he's all that she's thought of for the past twenty years (he killed her father in front of her). Kian kidnaps Renata in the hopes of luring Drago, who escaped his clutches, out in the open. The attraction between the two is immediate but he convinces himself that she's too young and he did kill her father. Renata on the other hand is tired of being a pawn for all of the mafia families around her. The chemistry is off the charts on this one! It is a well thought out storyline with strong characters and a fantastic plot. A definite must have if you love age-gap or mafia romances. I loved everything about this book. A fiery romance well worth the cost!
I made the mistake of picking this book up to read after lunch, intending to read a few chapters before going on with my day - what a mistake that turned out to be! I could not put it down and found myself reading long after I should have stopped., in fact, I didn't stop until I'd finished it in the early hours of the following morning!
Rian is a wonderfully drawn character, the storyline was so well developed I was on the edge of my seat through the whole book, and then when I did finish it sleep was denied me as I found myself still wrapped up in his and Renata's story.
Renata's character is strong, she's needed to be with the life she'd led from seeing her father an Italian mafia Don killed when she was only five! Then having to suffer abuse from every man she's ever known her brother who should have protected her amongst the worst of them, he even sold her in marriage to an abuser so it's not surprising that she doesn't trust men.
Now some twenty years after her father's death Kian is still trying to find and kill her brother when they meet again. Kian and Renata find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other despite their differences but will attraction and chemistry be enough to ensure a future for them? To find out if or how you will have to read this fantastic book yourself.
This book brings us Kian O'Sullivan and Renata Lombardi. The O'Sullivan's and the Lombardi's have had a long standing feud, and when Renata was 5 years old, Kian killed her father right in front of her. That left her brother Drago, who was 15 at the time in charge of taking care of her. His idea of taking care of her was horrible, but since he was the only family she had left, she put up with it. That is, until Kian had enough of Drago and was looking to kill him. However, his plan failed when he found Renata at the house. He takes her, in hopes that Drago will come looking for her. That is not the type of man Drago is though. Renata has spent years thinking of revenge for the O'Sullivan's, especially Kian. He tries to tell her he is different, that he basically only kills those that deserve to be killed and her father was one of the worst, followed closely by her brother. Throughout most of the book, Renata was an angry woman, but you really couldn't blame her with how the men in her life mistreated her. She did feel protected by Kian which was hard for her to wrap her head around. The don's in the mafia, some of them anyway, are horrible individuals and it was so nice to see Renata finally finding her voice. This was a great read and I HIGHLY recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
Every book in this series including JADED DEVIL has been compelling and unique. Kian and Renata’s story covers 5 mafia families and two generations of mafia leadership and war beginning with Kian killing Renata’s father when she was 5.
Renata’s can be described as a pain in everyone’s rear end - friend, foe, relative - it doesn’t matter. She is a warrior, but often without a plan. Kian saves her repeatedly and she rejects his help and protection. After a time you wonder why Kian keeps protecting her but as the story unfolds we learn where Kian gets his patience and devotion.
The story is packed with plots and subplots that stretch the skills of the most resourceful mafias - multiple family conflicts, explosive devices, dons with no integrity, abuses of women, shoot outs, secret rooms, arranged marriages, kidnapping, basement torture and brothers that come to the rescue from all over the world.
The relationship between Kian and Renata is violative and not terribly romantic for most of the story because of baggage both carry and need to sort out. We do get treated to Esme and Artem’s son Phoenix all grown up and learning his craft at Kian’s side. There has to be at story there. Good book!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
And the series continues!!!! This features Renata all grown up and Kian who has grown older and wiser with age. What an enemies to lovers story with a 20 year age gap that works well with some kidnapping!!!!
Kian is the NY Don of the O'Sullivan Clan while his brother Cillian is the Don in Ireland. Kian has been in NY for 20 years and now must finish the job he started 20 years ago. But he doesn't expect Renata and the way she makes him feel everything and anything. He has found his home in NY and has several to boot, but can the devil hide forever? With the right woman, the devil must come out and play in The Room, can they both handle it?
20 years ago, Renata met the devil and survived, but now she is under her brother's thumb and her life has been hell. She trains to protect herself from every man that has wanted to keep her down her entire life. But when she is kidnapped and learns the truth, will she believe Kian or turn to a brother that has never been on her side?
This story is intense with lots of unique chemistry between Kian and Renata, love, lust, romance, dark themes, trigger warnings, mystery, murder and so much more. I love dark mafia romances!!! I received an ARC of this book from the author.
So from reading Cillian's story, I can say that I caught some of the easter eggs now that Kian's story would be an age gap. He needed time and this is something that he repeats throughout the book 3 and 4. All that to say that I LOVED Kian as an age gap character!!! More than I thought I would. Now Renatta gave me a headache, but she greatly parralled both of the other female leads in the series. And since her trauma started as early as Esme's, she had a lot to overcome. Not saying the other ladies didn't, but they all had so much to contend with on top of her mother's history, the ending justifies her frustrating behavior throughout the story.
I loved getting to see her meet her grandfather. I thought that was so special and thoughtful. I wish I could get a little more insight to who he is and how his story shaped out to be. And the Northern Lights honeymoon was adorable.
My only criticism would be not getting to find out who actually killed Renatta's mother. I was really hoping that mystery would be solved so we wouldn't have to assume that her death also leads back to Kian. Soooooooo any insight to that would be great.
All in all, the dark mafia queen that is Nicole Fox kills it again! On to the next series ;)
The fourth and final book of the series is my least favorite one. This is primarily because my reaction to Renata's actions varied between her being foolish, pigheaded or stupid. Kian O'Sullivan is the youngest son in his Clan, 8 years younger than Killian. The book starts 20 years in the past, 6 months after Killian had dispatched Kian to NYC to resolve a territorial disbursement at the end of book 3. Kian's solution to the dispute was to kill the opposing Don and all his men. The sole survivor was a 5 year old child, daughter of the murdered Don, Renata Lombardi. 20 years later, adult Renata is living with her abusive and violent 35 year old brother, who blames Kian for ruining his life. Kian, now 45, and the established Don O'Sullivan of NY, comes to kill the brother and reunites with Renata, who also hates him. Kian takes her to his penthouse, they fight, she escapes, they reunite, they fight, etc. Renata has serious issues after years of abuse and challenges Kian constantly. She blindly acts and then thinks. The story is interesting and entertaining and well written. The later part sets more violent as the mafia wars become brutal. It is a good ending of the Kovalyov/O'Sullivan family saga.
Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!!! These are my favorite characters and I love being in their world! Kian was everything I hoped he would be, sexy and snarky! Willing to burn down the world for his woman. Of course Cillian is still my favorite but Kian is a very close second! I just love how these characters are written they come to life so effortlessly. You forget your reading and become so involved in their story that you can't stop until you are finished. Renata was a wonderful heroine who was a bit naive but not in an obnoxious way. She really came into her own during the story which I enjoyed, especially because she had been through so much in her past. Both of them together was just magic and I think together they are my favorite couple. I really loved their story and it was so exceptionally well written. Lots of action and suspense mixed with a little drama and some steamy scenes that really spiced things up. I also loved getting to see Phoenix all grown up!! I can't recommend this highly enough! You NEED to read this book, heck you need to read the whole series!! I also want to say that this cover is extremely gorgeous!!
