AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. She lives in New England with her husband (who is sadly not an alien, though he is still cute in his own way), her kids, and assorted pets, including a yorkie pup and three cats.
This was an entertaining boxed set of sci-fi alien romances, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.
I liked all of the couples, but thought it odd that none of the Crakairian males made any effort to learn about Earth females before trying to court them. They just assumed that they would respond to courtship the same way that Crakairian females did -- which was absolutely incorrect. It seems to me that a world where females were desperately needed would try to learn about Earth females, and what they enjoyed, before attempting to court them. Their attempts at courting in the Crakairian way did result in some pretty funny scenes, but still...
I enjoyed the translator issues, where the Crakairians talked kind of like Yoda until their translator "learned" the Earth language. Some of what they said was a lot of fun, both in talking like Yoda, and mangling the pronunciation of Earth words.
There were a few editing errors, but not enough to really concern me -- some misused words, mostly.
I did wish that the books in this set had been in chronological order. The two novellas at the end, for Axil and Gaje, should actually be read first -- as they were prequels to the rest of the books.
Each book centered on one couple's romance, but also contained fighting/escaping enemies and dangerous creatures. Some of the fighting was a bit too bloody and violent for my taste. The creatures were very creative, though.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Mail order brides from Earth is not for everyone but being matched to aliens they get more than they signed up for. The women find new worlds—the men find mates entering into arrangements that they never thought they would find.
There is action, suspense and tension as these women navigate their newfound lives. Emotions run high as they confront their circumstances, dealing with the conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer, as they vie for the attention of these Earth women, leading to moments of romance and interesting encounters.
Amidst the challenges, there’s also an undercurrent of playful interactions, as the women learn to assert their own identities and desires in this strange new world. Overall, it’s a captivating blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps you engaged from beginning to end.
All of these women sign up on the Extraterrestrial Matchmaking Service and what they get are sexy 7 foot tall scaly green aliens from Crakair. Book 1 Vork: Vork’s and Evie’s story. Book 2 Bryk: Bryk’s and Sadie’s story. Book 3 Jorg: Jorg’s and Lily’s story. Book 4 Kral: Kral’s and Mila’s story. Book 5 Wulf: Wulf’s and Taylor’s story. Book 6 Lyel: Lyel’s and Isabelle’s story. Book 7 Axil and Gaje: Axil’s and Julia’s story and Gaje’s and Thea’s story. Book 7 has two companion novellas and what’s great about this series is that you can go from one book to the next so you won’t miss anything, there’s plenty of action, adventure, suspense, danger, drama, passion and so much more in this alien sci-fi romance. I loved these stories and I highly recommend this collection.
I literally adore these books, and can’t wait to get started on the other collections. They are so hilarious and extremely sexy at the same time. What can you expect when a plague wipes out most of the male population of Earth, and most of the female population of a distant star system. Well, of course they reach out to each other and literally propose a sort of trade, technology for women lol. Women who apply to travel to, and marry a decidedly alien male. Hilarity ensues as they try to understand each other, so as you can imagine the English language gets a hammering, in a totally hysterical way.
I laughed so hard in many places, and I just couldn’t put them down. Simply brilliant and addictive.
Disclosure: did not read the last two bonus novellas. Because--as we have established--I am no fan of books presented out of chronological order. I do not care. Therefore I do not read.
BUT. The others were fun. The best part of this series is the language. Every time humans go to a planet featuring another language, I get REAL GASSED UP about translators. Yeah, ya' want your peeps to communicate, but different cultures have different sentence structure. I love how this series chooses to present that. The more the individuals talk, the better their translators engage to convert the structures--and I think that's a cool variety on the dialogue.
Each book has the basic premise that a virus kills most of the females for the alien males, the virus kills the human males, so the two planets form an alliance so neither race becomes extinct. Because, of course, they are compatible genetically! With just a few variances sexually to make each mate intrigued with the other. I think my favorite part is how the women are strong and this makes the aliens even better as their mates and partners. The challenges they face with each planet and the danger they face together. Inevitably the women end up with pets that are similar to earth pets, and I completely rel
Ava Ross presented an outstanding selection of Alien romances with this collection. The adventures were amazing with plots located in space, ancient forests, and even a barbaric, monster infested desert. The many different pairs of alien/human characters were brave, sassy, and creative. I loved that these compassionate human women readily befriended wild, menacing pets in difficult situations. Also, every Alien groom was extremely attentive and completely smitten with his future wife. All of these different stories captivated my attention and were extremely entertaining. Really Great Read With Lots of Sizzle!!!!!
This was SUCH a great series! Each story stood by itself but they all worked together. You never lose sight of the other characters. The plots are fantastic, and the characters are so relatable. The males are wonderfully alpha but still sensitive and caring. The spice was about a 4.5 on the scale; really hot and heavy, alien attributes (yes they're green, scaled, and the VIBRATE!!) along with other new ways to get steamy. A definite must read!!
This book of collection stories, has characters that will take you on a journey through out their world with twist and turns throughout their journey to get to know each other and to reach the planet where they will live their lives together, but first they have to go through wild animals, enemies of their planet that what to steel the earthling.
Loved these books. The excitement, emotions, surprises and much more. The women becoming mail order brides and what happened after that. I couldn't put them down. Best I have read in awhile. I recommend them. There us another set after this one on another planet. A continuation. I recommend them too.
I love this series. The Crakair are entertaining and HOT aliens. The books are steaming and funny. I have a few favorite heroines and their mates. The bonus novellas are actually the beginnings of the series so if you are just starting this series go read Axil and Gaje first.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and I liked reading it in one set - although I wish Axil and Gaje’s short stories had been placed at the beginning instead of the end. With each bride having a somewhat unique battle, it made for a great read.
These aliens are hot and very loyal and they aim to please! The women are sweet and I am always into the compassion shown to the other beings they interact with and come to know.
OMG this box set was absolutely brilliant, it was full of excitement, romance, rescues, fights & I could even imagine what the males actually looked like for real! I would recommend this for a fantastic read.
I laughed through the whole thing. The big green aliens are big and scary, but they love their human females. So swoon worthy. And the sex is off the wall! Love Ava Ross.
This was a very interesting series!!! I found myself repeating some of the words throughout my day. Wishing I could read the next chapter instead of working. DEFINITELY A MUST READ!!!
Loved this entire series. The bumbling conversations, misunderstandings, pets, and forked tongues make for an enjoyable read. Plenty of action and steamy scenes had me whipping through the pages. Please tell me there is a spin off for the Draikar?
