'Like all magick, it was a double-edged sword, and this particular blade was balanced on the shreds of my remaining humanity.'
Six months after becoming a vampire, Scarlet is beginning to settle into her new life—or death. Her master, and lover, Nikolaos, has been spending most nights away, leaving her to come to terms with her immortal life alone. With both of them finding a new normal in the arcane, everything seems to be going smoothly…
...Until Gwydion, Scarlet’s mentor and demon-necromancer hybrid, turns up with the news that the Syndicate of Occultists, self-appointed police of the preternatural world, are after them. Scarlet and Gwydion must prepare themselves to face the daunting wrath of the Syndicate.
Finding herself in Edinburgh with two of her closest entourage deemed missing, Scarlet and Kai must team up with a group of werepanthers, witches, and one lion, to put an end to the Syndicate’s reign of terror. If that wasn’t complicated enough, it seems that the necromancers have mixed with another species they are sworn to never cohort with, only making the challenge Scarlet and the others face even more dire.

The Fire Within My Heart, book one in the Scarlet Cherie: Vampire Series, was released on Amazon on August 15th 2020.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, The Fire Within My Heart, a great deal, and was therefore very much looking forward to the sequel. Scalding Waters definitely satisfied my craving for more! It has all of the lush, almost decadent descriptions and thoughtful character development that highlight Irfan's distinctive style, plus further insight into the history, organization, and relationships of this special and alluring world. I'm even more excited than ever to continue following the main characters' journey in the next installment! If you, like me, enjoy dark fantasy and/or paranormal fiction, you'll totally want to sink your fangs into this series!
Was looking forward to this book and was not disappointed! The author pulled me with her descriptive use of language, who has a maturity beyond her age. New characters were woven in, in an exciting and at times complex way. I was intrigued, awed and taken to places beyond my imagination. With her graphic use of language it was at times challenging to read but the fascinating characters, odd bits of humour and interesting settings had me gripped.
