The arrival of a dangerous sorcerer forces Gavin to confront his past.
As Gavin works with the El’aras to master his connection to the ring, he learns of an El’aras prophecy that speaks of the Shard and a Champion.
One must destroy the other.
Though Gavin doesn’t believe in prophecy, he can’t deny that he’s caught up in something greater than he understands—and begins to suspect he’s been guided toward his fate.
The arrival of a powerful sorcerer tests Gavin’s belief. If he can’t stop the Sul’toral, he might have no choice but to fulfill the ancient prophecy and destroy someone he’s come to deeply care about.
I need the next book already. I’m hoping there is a next one anyway. It was left pretty open at the end for another. This had even more action than the previous ones I think and o enjoyed every minute. I definitely could have had more of Wrenlow though. That’s my only complaint. He wasn’t involved enough and I also would have liked to see more of Mekel. The enchanters are interesting but not used in the story enough in my opinion. Regardless, I loved it so 5 stars!
I enjoy adventure and fantasy books. This series falls into those categories. They seem to be tailored to young adults or mature teens. There is very little sex in them, which I like. There are some typos throughout the bok though.
Gavin is still working with Anna of the El’aras to control his magic and better understand it. The question I have is can he use his core reserves without blasting it through stuff as is his usual M.O..? ;)
The main characters stories are constantly developing at an enjoyable pace as they do throughout all the books. There are lots of little gems dotted about the book such as different types of golem, magically created objects and other magical beings. As usual there is a threat to Yoran which I won’t go into detail about as it would spoil it for future readers. I will say that Gavin could be more than he thinks he is but at what cost to himself?
A thrilling ending to the story in the form an unexpected new alliance. Jam packed with beautiful fighting styles, new characters, sorcerers and lots of magic with the odd prophecy or two thrown in to spice things up a bit. A fun read with lots for the imagination.
Gavin struggles through yet another series of fights with forces attacking the city. Friends are defended and Gavin’s power is stripped away. As usual, he is battered and beaten while still being victorious. He must find out for sure what his purpose is and what it has to with Anna and Tristan. This poor guy keeps coming back for more of the same battles with magical forces. Somewhat repetitious but still enjoyable.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Chain Breaker series. I am so excited that there is a book 7! It is a fun ride following Gavin in his adventures and challenges, turning pages to find out what will happen next! A great series full of twists, turns, magic and action.
Brilliant read. Well written, enthralling, captivating reading. Follows the rest of the series well. I would recommend the series for anybody interested fantasy books.

The writing is at a level that would be acceptable for a 10 year old. The plot contradicts itself, often within the same paragraph. If you can say something once, why repeat it ad nauseum? Sorry, guys. I enjoy fantasy fiction and have stuck with this series for 6 books, but I just can't take anymore.
The sixth book in this series really started to the the previous books together and to in all the gaps. Gavin strikes out surrender his prophecy, Anna still his many truths from him, and the full meaning out teamwork finally becomes something that Gavin understand.
This series has been entertaining yet after 6 episodes its about time the author brought it to a conclusion. One can only ‘nearly break the world’ so many times before we stop caring if it actually happened!
Brilliant from start to finish. Gavin must once again fight to protect the city and his friends. This time from a powerful sorcerer he will need to overcome many obstacles. A real page turner with excitement and great action throughout. Definitely recommend
I enjoyed the story. It held my attention and I continue on to the next. On I go with these enshroud mysteries of a world of magic luring the senses new adventure of only this time of Gavin alone with the El'aras.
Congratulations to D.K. Holmberg for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.
What a cracking series, I 've just read all 6 on the trot and will continue as far as this series goes. I'm really enjoying reading this series, miles better than some of his others😊👍
Excellent continuation of this story. Enjoyable read, great character development, world building and intrigue. Amazon makes me add more words to post this review
While I still enjoy the series, I felt this book was weaker. I don't know if it's because I took a break before starting it. I felt there was a lot of repetition of phrases, thoughts, themes etc.
