I’ve given this 5 stars in part for the bravery and success of the experiment in publishing a story in email instalments. I read it in one sitting as an ebook but I think it’s a bold and brilliant publishing venture.
The setting and characters position the experiment favourably. Readers of the Devonshire Mystery series are familiar with the relationship that spawns the emails, which consequently flow easily and naturally. The emailer is, after all, a writer by trade. A snowstorm adds a challenge to the familiar landscape.
The mystery to be solved is kept fairly simple, but still intriguing. The mix of new and old characters is just right - enough to create possibilities without overly complicating the email narrative.
I really enjoyed the story, the familiar community, the mystery and the medium. Well done!
Great problem solving! Fantastic storyline! An author gets strange vibes about the death of a Search and Rescue Volunteer. It's ruled an accident and he fears a murder has actually occurred. Will his personal mission to prove this is exactly what happened, solve the mystery and uncover a killer? Read on to find out!
A novel new book written as a series of emails. I quite enjoyed this!
Can Dan help Alan solve a murder even though he is away from Embervale? Read this series of emails written to Dan and follow a most unusual investigation.
CLEVER IDEA TO SET OUT THE STORY AS A SERIES OF EMAILS, going to Dan from Alan. I just wish a little bit that we saw Dan's replies. They would no doubt be curt, rude and to the point! Very enjoyable. I did guess the culprit but not the reason.
