This is book two of the Cozy Hill Mystery series and the main character is Gwen (Gwendolyn) Paris, who lives on the Hill, in the Town of Green, with her white practising witch Grandma Robby (Roberta). They live near the bottom of the Hill in a small cottage and the houses further up the Hill are very exclusive and well sought after. When their street is lit up by flashing blue lights, they soon find out that a murder has occurred and the dead person is banker, Jasper Posey. The lead cop is Dooly Morris who has a bit of a thing for Gwen, not that she reciprocates this attraction. Her attention is more pointed towards a certain man called Kevin Pearson, who is helping them out with some handyman jobs in their home, but also has his own business in town, with a garage and attached diner where lots of people eat. The whole town has a range of different supernaturals, but the Hill was normally only Wiccans, but has allowed someone else to move in, to provide their community with protection. Now that person has been killed and in a very brutal manner.

Dooly visits their home, to tell them to stay inside and Robby makes eye contact with Marjorie Lewis, a neighbour from across the road, who they don’t exactly get along with. Marjorie is a social climber and after her son Weldon got a huge settlement for a slip and fall, she pushed him to buy a home on the Hill and is desperate for the chance to move up the Hill. Dooly dislikes that Kevin was in such close proximity to Gwen and it seems someone is making accusations about Gwen which will cause her a few problems along the way, as she tries to find out what has happened with Kevin and try to find and save him. When one of her gran’s little spells goes slightly wrong, it gives their cat Ammie Amulet) the ability to talk to Gwen, and even through her! The latter of which becomes useful at a few key points in the story. Gwen gets some shocking introductions to some of the other beings in town and finds herself having to suddenly develop some of her own innate magical skills. She needs her gran to train her in more about what she truly is and what she is capable of. A twisted tale of greed and jealousy, with curses and a conspiracy among a number of different people, who aren’t afraid of killing to get what they want! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

A Fun Paranormal Cozy Mystery!!!

Every Witch and Granny is the second book in Cozy Hill Mystery Series, I didn't read the first book but I don't have any problem following the storyline.

Gwendolyn Paris is a web designer and still learning of her power as a witch, she lives with her Grandma Robby and her cat, Ammie, in the Town of Green that its residents are mostly gentle practitioners of magic; her cat, Ammie short for Amulet, got caught up with some magic spell that somehow he can talk to her but only to Gwen, no one can hear him but Gwen, they also can telapathy communicate to each other too. Officer Dooly Morris has his sweet eye on Gwen but Gwen is attracted to Kevin, the handsome handyman and owner of Gunderson’s, a gas station/car repair shop with a full-service diner.

When a skeleton is found up on the hill, an exclusive neighborhood, wearing a ring with blue stone that reminded Gwen that she has seen similar ring before, she starts to notice many people in town wearing rings with blue stone - What are they, some kind of cult???? There are many dark secrets hiding in this small Town of Green.

Officer Dooly focus on Kevin as a prime suspect, then Kevin disappear, what is going on, Gwen can not believe that Kevin could be a murderer so she need to investigate to find proof to clear his name.

I love Paranormal Cozy Mystery with animal especially cat and this book does not disappoint me, Ammie is a very smart and talkative cat ^-^ This is a fun read, it's a very entertaining, fast-paced cozy mysteries full of humor, interesting characters, many secrets and magic.

I would recommend this book to any cozy mystery fan who likes paranormal cozy mystery full of twist and turn as you try to figure out who the murderer is. I am looking forward to read the next books in the series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It has a lot of the same issues I mentioned for Book 1, except a little more of the town's background and some of Gwen's were revealed, but it's all on a need-to-know basis, so a lot of what goes on is confusing. The characters' way of speaking is all the same, and they all sound too young, even Gwen; I got the impression she was a teenager by her speech. The main story was convoluted and not helped by the lack of an established magic system and keeping too much about the town and Gwen's family hidden from the reader. I gave this series a second chance, but now I know I won't be reading the next book since there wasn't any improvement in the writing.

Gwen's Curiosity . . .

When a body is found in an exclusive neighborhood, all the neighbors had to snoop into the investigation. It was wall-to-wall cop cars outside, so everyone was watching. They were told to stay inside, but most of them were out on the sidewalk gawking. Grandma Robby, a white magic practitioner, was quiet, but when Gwen asked what she thought, she identified whatever happened as “Old World business”, not of this world.

The lead cop, Dooly Morris came to their door to ask they stay inside right now. He looked at Gwendolyn Paris like he was love-struck! Gwen lives with her grandmother and her now talking cat, Ammie. They learn that the skeleton of a body was found only a few doors down from their home, with chips of bone removed from the ribs. The skeleton had a ring with a blue stone on his finger and the police found his wallet. Kevin, who had been working on a light fixture, had a similar ring and, as Dooly talked, Kevin looked very uncomfortable and sort of “green”, breaking into a sweat. Then he took his dinner plate of food and left. Will Gwen be able to tap her own source of power to help solve the case? Does Kevin know the identity of the victim?

Very good

Loved the surprises and changes in characters. A good cozy. The setting is interesting and there are a few out of the blue surprises that I did not see coming. Very good.

Second book in the series and things are becoming a tad better put together. I hate giving less than 5 star reviews but I think that this author has some way to go yet. The ideas are there and there are some good ones but the whole thing is a bit jumbled, almost as if there is so much that the author wants to say but it has not been planned or thought through enough; not so much loose ends, but not as smooth and as polished as it should/could be. Perhaps better planning and a more objective view is required. But there is promise.
