This book is a collection of poetry that walks you through heartache, mental health, tears, smiles, laughter, and a countless array of emotions. It shows you that emotions are okay, and you can feel what you need to feel. The interactive pages in this book are designed to help you dig deeper, and learn how to be okay with not being okay.
"in a world full of chaos, be calm. in a world full of hate, love. in a world full of doubt, have courage. in a world as challenging as this, you must be brave, curious, authentic, you. because how can we live in a world without a little hope?"
Poems felt more like stream of consciousness that were later published without a second thought. After the first ten the motives started repeating themselves, I would have loved the author to have sat with their emotions for longer and actually make interesting observations. Further it would have been nice if she would have had tried to make it rhyme at least once. Regardless every single poem to me was a skipper except one and even that one would have bin kid in an actually good poetry collection.
When I was scrolling through tiktok, I had discovered that another queer poet, Karlee Rose North. I automatically had to reach out and in that reaching out, we discussed Emily Dickinson!! Anyways, I ordered the book and the snow in SC pushed the arrival date back but thankfully I got it today and finished it almost instantly. There were a lot of tears and smiles and overall a safe space! I cannot wait to see what else she has in the works and so far this book is my fave book of 2022!
It is difficult to judge someone’s poetry because I’m sure the author put all of her heart in it. Some poems were really nice and had good rhymes but I prefer poems with images, comparisons, metaphors, play of words and of rhythm… Some poems felt a little hollow to me, I insist on “to me” because they evidently meant something to their author but just didn’t really speak to me.
this book is like heart warming and I love how the author puts pages to write in yourself to tell yourself that everything is ok and the poems they wrote are amazing
