She’s playing to win.

Okay, so I probably shouldn’t have made that bet with Emmy. But come on! She was challenging me. Attract a guy in seven days? No problem.

Well…maybe just one.

The guy she chooses is her brother, Chase O’Brien aka golden-boy-Virgin and star pitcher for the Wolves. Unlike most guys, Chase seems immune to my charms—but I’ve always loved a challenge.

He’s playing for keeps.

Charlie never should’ve made that bet with my baby sister. But if she uses her magic touch to heal my arm and gets me back in the game? It’s all good.

Actually, the more time we spend together, the harder I fall. I always knew I’d recognize my soulmate when I found her—and Charlie’s the one.

Even if she doesn’t know it yet.

This new adult sports romance features a strong heroine with a soft center, a hot-bookish hero who believes in true love and a sexy set of brothers guaranteed to make you swoon.

Love is always the perfect play.

The Perfect Play was an instant favorite! With friendship and romance laced throughout the pages, this book was impossible to put down. Cookie’s books always make me laugh and smile, and again this one was such a huge hit! If you’re looking for a romance story that is swoon worthy and will make you fall in love, then look no further, this is your book!
It was the nice guys you had to look out for. They were capable of real damage.
I needed to remember that unless I wanted to get hurt.

When Charlie accepted a bet from her roommate Emmy, she had no idea what was in store for her. Attract a guy in seven days? Piece of cake! Charlie was mesmerizing and knew how to get a guy’s attention in the blink of an eye. But Chase O’Brien? He was a baseball star who was known as a good guy, read books at parties and was a virgin waiting for his soul mate. Charlie definitely had her work cut out for her!
Her light blue eyes were intent on mine. "I was wondering when you'd get here."
As she stopped in front of me and threw her arms around my neck, she whispered quickly, "Don't read anything into this. It's nothing. I just need you for a second." <
But it wasn't nothing.
The thought flitted in and out of my head as her lips landed on mine.

Charlie was fun, passionate and cared deeply, I wanted to be best friends with her! I loved that she knew how to get what she wanted. Like getting the attention of the opposing school’s pitcher, so her home team could make a comeback lol! She made me laugh so much! But Charlie was hesitant about letting the opposite sex in. She’d been burned in the past, so the moment a guy started to show any interest in her, she checked out. Thankfully Charlie wanted to win that bet and Chase was stubborn and wasn’t about to let Charlie get away.
"Not going to lie though. Every now and then when I need a confidence boost, I look in the mirror and tell myself I'm pretty."
Chase grinned. "That's tragic." "You have something against good self-esteem?" I asked. "No," he said. "What I have a problem with is you calling yourself 'pretty' when you're one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen in my life."
My breath hitched.

Chase was the ultimate book boyfriend! He was intoxicating and swoon worthy! At the end of The Best Mistake, he injured his arm. He hadn’t been able to play baseball, and his team desperately needed him since he was their pitcher. It was suffocating that he couldn’t just heal. That everyone from his fans, to the team to even his family who loved him, made it seem like the teams whole future rested on his shoulders. I just wanted to reach into the book and give him a hug because he made me cry, my heart hurt for him. So when Charlie stepped into the picture, she was a breath of fresh air and made sides of Chase come out that had me smiling and sighing out loud!
I couldn’t remember the last time I'd felt anything, let alone actual electricity, with such an innocent kiss. I'd die before admitting it. To Chase or to anyone. But there had been something…

I loved watching Charlie and Chase form a friendship. It felt so real! Their moments together made me obsess over every single word or touch between them. They were so addictive together and I loved that we got to alternate each chapter between them! But you guys….Chase had this sexy, intense side and I. Was. Obsessed! So then when he stood up and defended Charlie’s honor, I didn’t think I could fall any harder for him but I did. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them together. They were the best of being endearing and oh so hot, they became one of my favorite couples ever. I was rooting for them every step of the way!
"The truth is I've been thinking about you every hour of every day."
He bit his lip, shook his head once before continuing.
"My mind is full of you," he said. "I want to run my fingers through your hair …to know what that feels like. I want to talk to you for hours until we're both too tired to move, and we fall asleep right next to each other. I want to feel you in my arms. And if that sounds too romantic, well, I have other thoughts, too."
"Do you?" I breathed.

While you can easily read this as a standalone, I can’t recommend the book before this enough. The Best Mistake was just as fabulous! That story was about Charlie’s bestie, Honor, and Chase’s brother, Archer. And in this story we got to spend time with other favorites too like Baylor, June and so many more! This has become one of my favorite romance series and I can’t wait to see who the next book is about! The Perfect Play was a swoon worthy story that romances lovers will fall hard for! I can’t recommend it enough!
"Hey Charlie," I said.
"Yeah?"
Putting my hand against the doorframe, leaning down so I was speaking into her ear from behind, I said softly, "You don't have to worry. When I find my soulmate, there won't be any hesitation on my end. My girl will know she's the one for me. I've waited a lifetime to meet her. When I do, I'm never letting go."
Charlie swallowed.
"That intense enough for you?" I asked.
"Yeah. That was…yeah," she said again.

PS Who knew spooning could be so hot?! *fans face*
I was having difficulty denying what my heart had been telling me for days.
Her.
She's the one.
You are hers, and she is for you.

PPS I love the list!!!!!!!

More O’Brien brothers please!

Chase is the sweetest most adorable virginal baseball jock. He’s been holding out for his soulmate and while he’s met Charlie before since she’s his little sister’s roommate he didn’t really SEE her until now. He’s certain she’s the one he’s been waiting for but she needs some convincing. These two are so good together and Chase is so swoony!!

I absolutely love this book and can’t get enough of this series!

🇺🇸 This amazing book! Where to start? Ok, so there’s a jock, gorgeous and nice. There’s a girl, Sassy and great. There’s a bet… aaaaand, is not at all the expected cliche! Just.. read and enjoy.

With my girl Cookie it’s a guarantee that the hero will be amazing and the heroine will be lovely. The world building is amazing, all the characters are great and I’m hoping the next book will be about June and Bay! Also.. maybe getting Dex and Rose vibes? Going wild here but… Emmy and Snider? The jerk who maybe will surprise us?

Loved the book! 💜 and Cookie… if you happen to meet in person an O’Brien brother type, Ethan Wilder or any of te amazing guys you write about, make sure you give him my Ig!

Y no sé… ¿Snider y Emmy? Estaría perfecto que el patanete sorprendiera.

Me encantó el libro. Amé el primero y este sin duda, me gustó más.

Brilliant Homerun!

Perfect Play was even better than ThenPerfect Mistake. Team ChaCha all the way! Ms. O’Gorman can’t wait to see who’s next up to bat - Decker or Baylor? Also looking forward to the younger sibs (Rose and Finn) stories.

SO SO AWESOME!!! Honestly, this book was even better than the first! The heroine (quick-witted & sassy Charlie) is one of my favorite female characters of all time, and the hero (sweet & "cute" Chase) is just so romantic and adorable. LOVE THESE TWO!! And, of course, I LOVE THE O'BRIEN BROTHERS!! This book was hilarious, romantic, intriguing, and just overall super super good. 100/10! <3

3 I'm Just Waiting For You To Catch Up Stars

The Perfect Play is the second book in the Southern U O'Brien Brothers series by Cookie O'Gorman.

This is such a solid, down to earth read. Which matches the personality of the male lead perfectly. He is all romance, and patience, and good naturedness. I knew I would adore Chase's love story, not only because I couldn't wait to witness him wooing Charlie, but bc I had to support my fellow book lover.

The only detraction I have for this book, was present in the previous book as well. The way in which the author introduces the speedbump near the end of their journey, before they commit to their inevitability was underwhelming. It's as if the author completely gives up at the point? I desperately wanted to feel the completion of them finding their bliss but it felt so lackluster, compared to their journey to reach the conclusion of this book. As if the author was trying to embody the adage to appreciate the journey, and not the destination...

I've been so excited to experience Charlie finding someone who appreciates all she has to offer. From the moment Chase didn't immediately pick up on all of the signs she was throwing out, and actually made her work for some reaction I knee she was interested. Charlie likes a challenge, because most guys only want one thing and they make the journey pretty underwhelming. To have the guy who will become her whole world be a young man who has been saving himself to find the one? Perfection.

I still wonder who Dex will end up with... It's such a mystery at this point... And I'm kind of hoping Emmy gets her own book as well. I don't think the series would be complete feel complete if O'Gorman left her romance out.

Title: THE PERFECT PLAY
Author: Cookie O’Gorman
Genre: New Adult Sports Romance
My Rating: 4.5 *Team ChaCha* Stars!
Swoon Meter: A slow dance right into full swoon!
.
”Charlie and Chase," I said.  "Our couple name would be ChaCha.  It's clearly meant to be."
.
Hopeless romantic, Chase O’Brien, is no stranger to relationships…well, the relationships he reads about in romance books, that is. Chase is Southern U’s star pitcher, unbelievably popular and he catches the eye of every girl he passes yet he’s never even been kissed! Chase is holding out for his soulmate and until then he’s completely content in playing ball with his brothers and keeping to himself with his nose in a book.

Enter in our fearlessly flirtatious heroine Charlie who’s smart and sassy. Never one to catch feelings or allow herself to fall in love, she hooks up and leaves. No stings attached ever until she catches the eye of Chase. As a physical therapist student, Charlie is tasked with helping Chase recover from a shoulder injury all the while trying to resist the treacherous feelings her heart starts to feel around him. Could Charlie let herself love? Will Chase find his soulmate in the most unlikely of places?
.
My thoughts:

The Perfect Play, the second installment in the Southern U O’Brien Brothers series showcases Chase and Charlie’s story told from dual POV. This is surly a slow burn romance with lots of angst! The most delicious mix of sugary sweet & extra hot heat. We have a genuine book boyfriend, Chase, who sees past the facade that Charlie, our gorgeous female lead, has built up to protect herself. Charlie is a wonderfully complex character who you can’t help but relate to and root for. She’s unashamed to be who she is when she’s given the chance to open up. I found it refreshing to read a female lead who is strong in her own right and slowly learns to let Chase in. He helps her see herself in a new light. Helps her to see that she deserves more than she ever let herself have.

Chase is what I like to call, the perfect definition of a book boyfriend! Caring, charming but more then what meets the eye. I think the author wrote his POV chapters so realistically and engaging. His feelings were genuine and he never wavered in his character. He never once stops believing the best of Charlie and is happy to let her set the pace for their story.

Though The Perfect Play is the second in this sports romance series, it could possibly be read as a stand-alone but would be more enjoyable read after The Best Mistake. Chase & Charlie’s story was so fun! The perfect binge read. Very much a solid 4.5/5 stars. I look forward to reading which O’Brien brother’s story we get next! I have my fingers crossed that we get to read about Baylor (and June!). I definitely recommend this series… for those who love romance in the most unexpected of places!

ChaCha

-‘Chase is a true romantic.  He's all heart, always has been.  I'm not sure he'd know how to hide his feelings, even if he wanted to.  Chase is too honest for that.  And as I'm sure you're aware, he's been saving himself for the right girl."’-

This is the second book in the series about the baseball playing, hot, and sexy O’Brien brothers. In the first book, Honor and Archer got together. This time, Chase, one of the twins, falls hard for Charlie, Honor’s best friend. But Chase is a sweet, somewhat innocent man who wants to save his virginity for his future wife. He believes in soulmates. Charlie is the opposite. She’s only ever had hookups and doesn’t want a relationship. Chase’s sister intervenes with a bet that could end things faster than they began... or it could very well be the best thing ever...

Readers should be aware that this book contains sex and swearing. I enjoyed the story and look forward to finding out who’s story will be told next.

Wonderful, Sweet, Amazing. Really cute story with interesting characters. Chase is a total sweetheart and Charlie is tough and refreshing as a character type you don't get to see often. She is strong and sticks up for herself without being mean and throwing f bombs everywhere. Really enjoyed the story, but I wish it would have been longer. There are a lot of really great scenes between them leading up but then once they get together everything seems rushed with one moment of unnecessary drama added in before the end. They talk about how Chase is a virgin and will only sleep with the woman he believes will be his wife, so they never have sex which I think could have been a great scene because Chase has a total romantic soft side and some steamy dirty talk. Hopefully that's something we will still get to read. Overall, Cookie never disappoints.

I loved this book. The characters are fantastic...love Chase and love Charlie and their chemistry. Their dialogue really works. Everything they say feels true to their characters. I don't know...I've loved all of Cookie's heroes and heroines, but I think these two might be my favorites.

Loved it

Thank you for another great book Cookie O' Gorman. I just loved this book. It was just full of love and support from both the family and friends. And I know this might be cheesy but I really loved Chases character. Nowadays its hard to find guys like him. Guys that care, and that love no matter the challenges.

Awe ❤️❤️❤️. Beautifully written as always. This is a go to author for me I have enjoyed every book I have read so far written by her. But I love the O’Briens so very much. Each of them are unique they make you laugh and giggle with their reactions and banter. I could read this series over and over again and I can’t wait until the next one of the O’Briens get their HEA. I really loved Chase he’s probably the sweetest of the O’Brien clan all heart and always saying the sweetest of things. Charlie broke my heart a little bit for such a confident person having gone through things in her life she definitely feared that no one would want to love and stick with her through thick and thin. TeamChaCha all the way. I’m extremely excited for Baylor and June’s story his reaction to any guy getting near June is so much fun. I also can’t wait to see the guy brave enough to date Emmy with so many brothers watching out for her. Hmm maybe someone on their team? Who knows can’t wait to find out.

Absolutely amazing!

Cookie O'Gorman has done it again. This book drew me in and wouldn't let go until the very end. Chase is the perfect mix of romantic, hot and awkwardly cute. While Charlie is fierce and confident with a little bit of skeptical romanticism to balance the story out perfectly.

Awww, Chase... What can I say? This book planted a perma-smile on my face while I was reading it. Chase's assistance (but somehow, not too overbearing) for Charlie was swoon-worthy. I loved it. I love it when the guy works hard to convince the girl that she is the love of his life. Team ChaCha, ftw! Haha!

Another great book from Cookie O'Gorman! I cannot wait for the next O'Brien book!

This book is amazing. I read this series all out of order so i read this one last but i think it might be my favorite next to Dex's book. I loved the reverse roles. I hardly ever read books where the fmc is the player and the mmc is the inexperienced bookworm. I had so much fun reading it. I also LOVE the fact that there's no real third act conflict. There is some slight drama towards the very end but it was resolved within the same chapter I think. Communication was amazing.
Chase is so sweet and romantic. I love that he's a soulmate believer and never doubted his feelings for Charlie. Even though he never noticed her until this book but whatever lol. And the fact that he learns 'things' (wink) from books was stunning. I hope he joins Rose's book club. Also I'm very thankful the sport in this book is baseball. It made reading it so much better for me considering I love baseball.
Charlie is the kind of girl that's fierce and confident and keeps her heart locked up tight. She gets assigned to be Chase's personal physical therapist while also trying to win a bet with his sister Emmy. These books are very lowkey which makes reading them so much easier for me. Don't get me wrong, stuff happens but nothing I would get too stessed over you know? I just love how everything played out. I will be not so patiently waiting for Emmy and Finn's books.

Chase and Charlie

He's a college pitching phenom who's waiting for his soulmate and she's a beautiful physical therapy major whose extremely wary of men. I really like the characters in these books, though the men are better written than the women. All are likeable and relatable though. This is a fun romance with a lot of chemistry. Very little angst. Looking forward to next in series.
Standalone with no cliffhanger or cheating, though reading in order will give more insight into characters. A HPN ending. Told from H and h POV. A little steam.
