I wasn't aware of Moon until planning the trip for Maui last year. Moon really is hitting it out of the park with their guides lately.
Moon Japan by Jonathon DeHart will be a valuable resource for both the experienced traveler as well the first time visitor to Japan. Travelers will appreciate the practical and easy to understand information relating to transportation, accommodations, dining, and entertainment. Mr. DeHart’s descriptions of restaurants and cuisine not only tell you may find on the menu but give the reader a sense of what it is like to be in the place. Moon Japan is not only a travel guide but also a useful reference to the geography, history, and culture of Japan. Moon Japan will help enthusiasts of Japanese films or comic books to be able to better understand their favorite stories.
Attractions for Tōkyō and Kyōto were done well. But it had next to nothing for Ōsaka, which was pretty disappointing. I can't comment on the other regions of the country since I wasn't visiting them on my trip and so did not read those sections
