Tiny but mighty! After great success using the pocket Tokyo guide, we purchased this book before heading south. (The salesperson in the bookstore provided us with a complimentary book cover for it!)

With so many temples, shrines and palaces to see and limited time in the country, this guide was absolutely essential. Although we visited Kyoto but not Osaka, it was still worth it.

Instead of hiring a local tour guide (as some friends suggested prior to departure), we felt that the pocket guides did the job perfectly! We didn’t even need the internet.

Exceedingly highly recommended, primarily for the guided walking tours with detailed maps.

It's just the right size: pocket size to carry it around with you. Tells the top sights of Kyoto first and in detail as well later if you want to see. It was very useful to me for exploring Kyoto
