I experienced a sense of joy and possibility as I opened this book! I love the layout, the ratio of pictures to text and the organization of the text in particular. Information is so accessible and I felt excited to discover all that Ireland has to offer. I have done a fair amount of research online, however I love to hold a print book in my hand and see all the information gathered in one volume.

Other things I loved about this book - the handy Trip Builder pages and the Practicalities pages. You get a little bit of everything from essays on the culture and history of Ireland to visual guides. It felt like I was being invited to enjoy the best of everything, to "get away from the everyday," as is written on the cover.

A Perfect Travel Guide for First-Time Travelers to Ireland ★★★★★

This Lonely Planet guide to Ireland is an excellent resource for first-time travelers and has me completely inspired. I know I’m going, and I’m already dreaming of Donegal’s beautiful beaches. They look so inviting. Scuba diving, anyone?

This guide does a wonderful job of helping new travelers feel confident and prepared. It covers Ireland’s nature, history, traditions, and adventures, while also highlighting local produce, Irish cuisine, traditional crafts, and the country’s stunning castles. Whether you want to tour the land, explore the cliffs and caves, or simply soak in the culture, this book makes it all feel approachable and exciting.

The practical information is especially helpful for first-time visitors. It includes a simple language guide, clear currency exchange details, best times to travel, tipping etiquette, and easy-to-understand explanations of credit card use and costs. There are also useful travel safety tips, transportation options, and distance information for those planning a road trip.

Everything is well organized and easy to navigate, making planning feel exciting instead of overwhelming. The included pull-out map is a lovely touch and will be very handy while traveling. I’m especially looking forward to starting my trip in Dublin and then exploring the cliffs, caves, and countryside.

This guidebook truly reflects the quality Lonely Planet is known for and is a fantastic companion for anyone planning their first trip to Ireland.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I was under no obligation to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

While the book is colorful and has interesting tidbits here and there, I found it less useful than other travel guide books I've read. It might be a good starting place though.

My library has chosen to slowly weed out non-fiction books unless it caters to a certain type of reader. Sadly most books for others libraries are suggest to purchase and quickly ends up at the book sale. These approved books on order is padded with pages and pages of travel books, strangely none are for our state. I love Ireland and wish I could visit so decided to torture myself by looking at places I'll never go.
This travel guide is a lot different from ones I'm use to because it talks about movies, books, and where to find wifi. The wifi made me wonder why travel books are still made in book form or constantly updated. Instead of updating it every year or few years it's just a waste of a book. All of the information in this book can be found online and you'll discover a lot more information online. Almost all of these tourist are using their phones which is why the book tells you where to find wifi. Best part of using the Internet is the amazing photos and not the plain, basic ones in the books.

I did think that the book would be bigger, with that being said there was so much great information and tons of color pictures. The book was divided into regions with all kinds of tips and tricks to plan a wonderful holiday. I would definitely take a look whether you are planning a trip or just love the Emerald Isle.

well organized

I really like how it was organized by top experiences. Added some nice experiences to my travel plan that I might have missed without this resource.
