Will she accept the outstretched hand without seing it as a failure …

With this story, the author matches the remaining single family members from her previous stories.
Edward has no envy to marry but for the sake of his people, he believes it is the right course if he selects the right bride, with the right dowry. So what began as a lark with his sister’s best friend, turns into a game he is not sure he likes the outcome. It was so simple on paper, find an amenable lady, agreeable and wealthy and all will be good. Yet he is more drown to the feisty temper of his declared matchmaker than any of his prospective spouses.
Margaret innocently believes she is the answer to her parents’ plight, that sacrificing her future will lighten her mother’s burden.
I am not overly fond of people glutinous for punishment. And it is who Margaret is. When her family was close destitution, I could have understood her desire to put her future on hold, but now their wealth is close to back, they have the means to employ caregivers.
Yet time and experience will teach her an onus is better tolerated if shared, even more when she realizes spinsterhood would deny her of life’s experience and a chance at her own happiness.

This is an entertaining tale of two people who for a time preferred to stay blind to their own feelings as it would entail choosing a different path, more challenging then the one they were set on. And it demands courage to alter one’s course.

4.5 STARS

I enjoy this author and her writing style. This was mostly a sad tale with the father losing his memory and the effects it has on the whole family.

The h is the last daughter at home and feels she needs to never marry. She knows her mother isn't able to take care of her father alone so she is going to sacrifice her future to care for her father. Most of the story is not uplifting because of the h giving up her life for that of her family. Then we add the H to the mix and he needs to marry a wealthy women because of the state his father left the family in. So he is going to sacrifice himself to marry for money and not love.

She loves her best friends brother from afar. He sees the h as his sister's friend. There's little drama or suspense until the last few chapter's and that raised my rating. Something happens near the end (no spoiler's) and I thought HERE WE GO, the cookie cutter plot! But, I forgot how Ms. WIlliams changes things up and was delightfully surprised!

We have mild foreplay prior to marriage and lovemaking once within - heat level 2.5 out of 5.

I've read 1/2 of the series and you won't be lost if you start with this one. I encourage you to read this author because she knows her craft.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance builds slowly and a tad of spice. Nice epilogue 6 months in the future. I received an advanced copy, all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)

Edward, the new Earl of Wynn, decides to look for a wife. He needs a lady with a sizeable dowry. Margaret Gold decides he needs her help. Edward is not sure he wants her help. Once they only irritated each other, now the more they interact at society gatherings, the more they are attracted to each other. What about that kiss! Margaret is devoted to her parents, without her help how can she ever marry. Circumstances start to change giving hope for Edward and Margaret, until manipulation may take away their chance for happiness. I really enjoyed reading this book. Yes, there is angst, but a pleasure to read with so many likeable characters! An incentive to read all the books this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book gifted by the author.

Opinionated Margaret can’t help poking her nose into Edward’s quest to find a wealthy wife. The only trouble is the more they interact with each other, the more feelings between the two them develop and that will never do because it’s not possible for them to be a couple. Delightful romance with a gordian knot to be solved.

I'm so excited for you to read this story! Readers have been asking for Margaret Gold's book since she first appeared in Romancing the Rogue (Book 1 of The Rogue Chronicles). Margaret and Edward were a joy to write and I hope you like their story!

Here's a little more about it:

This book, the seventh in the Rogue Chronicles series, is a welcome addition. This is the story of Edward Adley and Margaret Gold. Margaret is the best friend of Edward’s sister Charlotte and is helping Charlotte choose her trousseau for her upcoming wedding. Having helped to outfit her sisters on a tight budget, Margaret is invaluable to Charlotte because when Edward inherited the title upon his father’s death he also inherited large debts.

When Margaret discovers that Edward has decided to wed an heiress to solve his financial problems, she decides to help him choose a woman that she thinks that Charlotte would also approve. But what is a young woman who has decided to remain single and help care for her father to do when she finds herself attracted to Edward? What is Edward to do when he finds himself thinking too often about Margaret.

This book is well written and the characters are well developed. It was a joy to read. I received an ARC copy of this book for a truthful review.

Edward Adley knew he had to grow up and stop playing the field once his father died. Now, he needed to get married, but because of his father’s mismanagement of the family’s money, Edward inherited a mountain of debt and needed to marry a wealthy heiress. An heiress who could help him right the floundering ship of his family’s finances. In walks Margaret, an observant, opinionated woman who realizes that Edward, the brother of her best friend, is looking for a bride, a wealthy bride, and can’t help but give her opinion in lieu of his sister, that is getting married soon and has her own problems to worry about.

And at that point, I knew what would happen, but I had to keep reading to be sure, and I was right. I thought it a good story of romance and realization. This was, however, my first historical fictional read in a long time, but like all good stories, they can last the change of times.

Romance readers, happy-ending fanatics, and history buffs should like this read. I give this lesson in almost proper courting five stars out of five stars.

I’ve always enjoyed this trope, sibling’s best friend. Love has been right under their noses, but no one ever notices it until something happens. So this book was perfect for me. I really enjoyed Margaret and Edward’s story. It’s always interesting when the girl tries to find a suitable match for the hero. Sometimes you have to knock the bloke over the head, but in this case it would be the girl who needs sense knocked into her. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.

She helps him choose a wealthy bride

As she spends more and more time helping her best friends brother find an heiress to wed, their attraction grows but he needs funds to survive the debts left from his father. She has a father with dementia needing constant supervision. It seems impossible to act on their feelings. A lovely story unfolds.

Fast read

This was a very fast read. I enjoyed the story and liked seeing the friendship develop between Edward and Margaret. There were a couple of love scenes but they were not done in great detail. I think the book would have been just as good or better without them. I enjoyed the book and enjoyed the story

This book captured my interest early on--that first kiss was WOW. Some of the characters' feelings seemed a little repetitive as the story progressed. I liked both the hero and the heroine, and the portrayal of caring for someone with a deteriorating mind (heroine's father) was very well done. Overall enjoyed the book.

Delightful historical romance

Edward and Margaret are attracted to each other but believe there is no future for them together. I appreciated what they went through and how they came to believe love is more important than money.

I think the set-up with Dorothy and her sister was weird, the author could've come up with something better. Perhaps Dorothy as a character deserved better. Yup, I am feeling sorry for fictional characters now :)

Fate has a way of stepping in

We all have an idea as to how our life should go. I personally feel that rarely happens. And so it was for Edward. It can be a shock when a friendship suddenly feels like more.
