This is a Clean Romance, and this is the first book in the K-9 Companions series. The characters in this just felt weird, and they took awhile for me to care about them. I did love all the dogs in this book. My favorite parts of this book was the parts with the horses and the dogs. I did liked this book, but it was not my favorite. I also had a hard time getting into the story and staying completely into the story. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Their Unbreakable Bond is the fourth book in the Rocky Mountain Family series by Deb Kastner and also serves as the first book in the K-9 Companions series, written by various authors. However, Their Unbreakable Bond can easily be enjoyed as a stand alone story.

I liked this second chance love story. Really, it was a first chance at love for these two, however, Felicity had a crush on Stone as a teenager and quickly realized that her feelings for him were returning as they got to know each other. Yet, she was scared that he was still too much of a risk taker and that her heart would be broken if she were to give it to him and then lose him.

I liked that Stone had changed a lot since his teenage and early adult years. God changed him and he no longer was a self absorbed person. He truly cared for Felicity. However, he sometimes made impulsive decisions that caused tension between the two of them. This was a sweet and enjoyable story and I liked watching these two people fall in love.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Felicity Winslow is very surprised when her brother Sharpe's best friend Stone Keller shows up at her family's Christmas tree farm's gift shop, Winslow's Woodlands Gift Shop. Sharpe hired Stone as seasonal help while Stone is back in town taking care of his mother during her chemotherapy treatments for cancer. When Felicity was in middle school she had a mad crush on Stone. Nothing ever came of it. One of the family jobs each of Felicity's siblings take on is dog training. Felicity has trained a pit bull mix named Tugger in avalanche rescue in addition to Tugger's therapy dog training. This is a challenge for Felicity in that her ex-boyfriend died in an avalanche and Felicity knows she has to fight her fear. She also knows that Stone Keller is off limits since he is her brother's best friend.

Stone Keller left Whispering Pines, Colorado to become a rodeo rider. He became a bronc rider but his career ended when he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident that left him hospitalized for a month. Upon release from the hospital Stone headed to Whispering Pines to help his mother during her cancer treatments. Finding a very grown up and pretty Felicity Winslow was a shock. After working with Felicity with her training him and a black lab named Dandy for avalanche search and rescue work and working together in the gift shop Stone found himself falling in love with Felicity.

The Unbreakable Bond by Deb Kastner is the first book in the Harlequin continuity series, K9 Companions. This is a delightful friends to lovers story. Stone never realized Felicity had a crush on him during their school years. Upon returning to their home town and spending lots of time with Felicity, Stone realized that he had indeed grown beyond his wild ways and was ready for a relationship. Felicity faced her fears and trusted God to help her heal. I love these main characters. They grew in love together and both share the love of their search and rescue dogs. I look forward to more K-9 Companion stories.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Stone Keller returns to his hometown and takes a job working with his family friends, while he helps his ailing mother. He is surprised to find that his best friend's sister isn't so little anymore...

A romance of second chances and starting over, I liked how Stone is up for the challenges thrown his way and how he is always encouraging Felicity in her faith and to see the bright side of things. It was also really interesting learning about how they train dogs for avalanche rescue.

I loved seeing more of the Winslow family, and I liked the interaction between Stone and Felicity. A heartwarming romance, enjoyable, with great characters.

I’ve seen these K-9 companion books mentioned so many times and decided I needed to jump in and read some. And then thankful I did. This was a sweet and moving story about two people seeking purpose for their lives.

Not all of the books in the series connect with other series also but some do and this is one. This is book for of the Rocky Mountain Family series. And they’re actually some more within the K9 companions that connect to that series also.

First book in what I believe is going to be a new multi-authored K-9 companion themed series, though the setting and characters make this also a continuation of Kastner's Rocky Mountain Family series too. Which is kinda weird, but I'm rolling with it 'cause I love the Winslow family and their Christmas tree farm / dog training business. Six siblings to work and relax with...including two protective older brothers who treat their youngest sister like she's still in grade school. :-) Love the family dynamics and how spunky Felicity fights to be recognized as the capable adult she truly is.

And then her girlhood crush winds up working with her...cue all the grins and swoons 'cause Stone is trying so hard not to notice that his best friend's little sister is a woman now while Felicity is trying just as hard to fight an inconvenient resurgence of puppy love. Sizzles and sparks and hijinks galore. Plus the kind of devoted service dogs I love to read about. In this case it's dynamic avalanche rescue dogs Tugger and Dandy who aren't above giving out a little comfort therapy after a disaster too.

Their Unbreakable Bond is all kinds of wintry goodness and a perfect way to wile away a chilly afternoon...maybe with your own fur baby cuddled up close by.

It's. Not. Good.

First, there's Stone Keller. GAH, even the name... anyhow, he's besties with Sharpe Winslow (no, I'm not making this up - the names...!!!), except they're never friendly in the book - Sharpe's always scowling or glaring at Stone for some reason or other. He's the long-lost crush of our heroine.

Stone is an ex-rodeo star who got in an undisclosed accident and spent copious amounts of time in the hospital and rehab, but apparently bounced SO well that he can flip off rooftops. We're never told what injury he sustained, and frankly, it felt contrived from the antics he was up to (curling up in a ball to hide from rescue dogs, etc.) C'mon, if the man is fresh out of an injury so serious he can't ride rodeo anymore, but he's agile, fit, strong and healthy? Um... say WHU?!?!

Stone is home temporarily to take care of his mother, who has stage three cancer and needs help during her chemo treatments. Except he's NOT taking care of his mother, he's 1) working at Sharpe's ranch/farm/store/orchard/whatever, 2) he's off at auctions in other cities, buying horses for people, and 3) he's volunteering/training for rescue dog training. If you're doing *ALL* that? You ain't got time for mama, dude.

More, if he's only home TEMPORARILY, why would *anyone* waste time training him to be certified to do the avalanche training, and GIVE HIM a rescue dog to have for his very-ownest?!?! He's LEAVING to teach at a rodeo school states away, hello. It's a waste of time/resources.

Then we have Felicity, who climbs over precarious tubs and boxes to get to something WAYYYY in the back of the shed, somehow gets her FOOT stuck under a box, and can't get out. The brain cells aren't strong, with this one. MOST of the book, she's ga-ga and goo-goo eyes over Stone, whilst hating how reckless and daredevil he is, while luvvvving him, while spending all of her time sighing in his presence... it's really distasteful.

Anyhow, at first, the author has Felicity and her support dog together because *she's got trauma*, but then we find out that the *trauma* is that an ex-boyfriend she didn't ever really mesh with who didn't want to marry her was a daredevil who died in an avalanche, so she's *TRAUMATIZED*. To the point where she needs a support dog. For the ex she didn't witness dying, wasn't there with when he passed, and didn't have a relationship with.

And it's serious *DRAMA*, too. Pg 67: "I have to cram down my fears because there are people needing help and I can't ignore the needs of others no matter how I feel in my own heart. I do what I have to do." !!! Fear of WHAT?! Getting trapped in the snow? SHE NEVER DID! SHE NEVER SAW ANYONE HAVE THAT HAPPEN! What in Hades...!??!?!

Yeah, this book makes ALL SORTS of sense.

And of course there's an avalanche only pages into the book, which displaces an entire dang town. They bring the dogs in to pull sleds of supplies and then 'comfort' the displaced, at which point a dad says, "The dogs are friendly?" Are. You. Kidding. Me??? No, dude - they're feral and definitely dangerous. Nevermind the aprons their wearing - it'll rip your kids' face off its face. ((((sigh.)))) BAD writing...

The author tells us it's because it's a pit bull, but did you know 90% of people don't know what a pitbull IS? There are actual quizzes on-line that test this very thing. I know, because I wanted a pit bull, and did a lot of research. I ended up getting a boxer/shepherd mix, and you know what everyone asked me, all 14 years we had her? "Is that a PITBULL?!?!?" Not. Kidding.

The other dog - Dandy - is supposedly a trained support dog as well as for rescues, but the moment he sees Stone, he tears across the building and jumps at him. (Pg. 147). A trained support dog would NEVER lunge at anyone, like that - especially not Stone, who he'd only worked with once and seen across a sled a few times. Absolutely not.

Felicity and Stone work at the family farm unless they're working at the family dog training facility, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to who works where, the author just has people 'cover' at different places when wild hairs to decorate the store or play with the dogs gets up the author's hiney. It's... highly annoying, and I'm not sure how a business can run with people running pell-mell wherever, whenever.

I really hated this story.

The author contrives an auction where Sharpe wants two horses, and of course they're not as awesome as everyone there thinks (because they're all idiots, these horse folk)... no, STONE is the only one who sees the problems with them, and of course sees the hidden amazing awesomeness of the two dirty horses belonging to a poor farmer who's selling his dearest horsey friends because his wife's medical bills are SOOOO high...

.... THE WRITING....!!!!! I want to bang my head against a wall, I swear. SO dramatic and forced and absolutely UN-believable...!!

It really went over the top when he knocks into a tree and gets *buried* with so much snow, she cries out, "Tugger! Dandy! FIND!!!!" Um... we know where he is, and with the amount of snow that comes off a single tree? He's FINE. GAH, the *drama*...!!!! The dogs AND the girl dig for 'minutes' and finally find him in the tree-valanche aftermath... (((((S.I.G.H.)))))

Forget it. I've got over a thousand of these books in my room - not kidding. I don't have time for this. This isn't worth it.

Their Unbreakable Bond begins the K-9 Companions multi-author series with a touching story of young crushes, youthful recklessness along with heartaches, and growing up to find out that your special someone was right under your nose all the time. Although Felicity’s story begins this series, she is the fourth Winslow sister to find her happily ever after future – those earlier stories are in the Rocky Mountain Family series by this author should you want to go back to those stories (if you haven’t already read them). I happen to love stories with connections, which is why I mention them so often… I can’t be the only one, right?

Stone’s need for an adrenaline rush has finally ended his rodeo time after a motorcycle accident ended a career he loved. He’s back home, temporarily working on his best friends’ Christmas tree operation until he figures out what he’s going to do next. Felicity’s young crush on Stone from their high school days comes rushing back into memory when he shows up for work at the family business. She’s got no time for men who take unnecessary risks after the death of a former boyfriend. Yet she and Stone keep getting pushed together, innocently enough, but that closeness is bringing back embarrassing memories… and thoughts of a future that she cannot trust in ever again. She should just stick to her work with the family business and her search dogs along with the dedication she’s working on to get her avalanche search/rescue certification… but in spite of his often reckless actions, Stone has matured into a man she could get serious about yet is afraid of the actions he still takes that endanger him at times. She will not lose another man she loves to an unreasonable need for that adrenaline rush – but tell that to her heart.

I enjoyed Stone and Felicity’s journey to lasting love. Each needs a few lessons in changing their attitude, and yet both are exactly what the other needs in their lives should they be willing to take a risk on a future together. A well-written, smooth story, Their Unbreakable Bond delivers a lovely couple, dedicated yet playful dogs, and gave me a few lessons in avalanche rescues. I had a good time back in this world.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

New to me author. And I am happy to have read her story. Loved it.

Many things about this story played a part in me liking it. First, the way authors combine a story with a message of God's love for us. Well done. And then the part of having search/rescue and therapy dogs, one of my fascinations because I love doggies and that basic work of theirs.

This story is about Felicity, a shy girl in school but now all grown up and working at her family's ranch and trying to cope with an avalanche accident. Also Stone, her brother's best friend who became a well famous rodeo cowboy but an accident sends him back home. They come together when Felicity's brother puts them together to work in the store and ranch. But together they work with the horses and the rescue and search dogs that Felicity is training.

When Stone starts seeing and getting to know Felicity more he knows that he has feelings for her, as well as Felicity. She starts to see Stone working with the dogs, especially Dandy, and starts to have those middle school feeling s for him again. But a freak accident on a Certification day for Avalanche search and rescue teams puts Stone to think about life and future. And Felicity to embrace her past fears and pain and the love she has for Stone in perspective.

Truly a great read. highly recommended. I can't wait to read more from this author. If you have a love for doggies and search and rescue this is your story. A sweet story of friendship, love and the bond that goes beyond. You don't want to miss this book.

Sadly, this one was really hard to get into and it never really had that spark for me. I didn’t feel like I got to know either character very well. Throughout most of the book, they were either fighting or crying, which really didn’t make me like them at all. The dialogue, as well, felt oddly old-fashioned, keeping me further distant from these characters.

A lot of this book felt both rushed and boring, with a huge amount of “tell” instead of “show”. This added to the feeling of not knowing this couple, let alone most of their world or their experiences.

I especially didn’t feel any romantic chemistry between them. Seriously??

I did enjoy the horse storyline in the first half of the book, but then that just sort of dropped off into nowhere for the back half. I would’ve liked more about that.

Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll ever read this author again.

Their Unbreakable Bond by Deb Kastner is part of the K-9 collection from Love Inspired. Not only do I enjoy LI’s sweet romances, I love K-9 stories! So I was excited to read this story.

Felicity is working toward becoming avalanche search and rescue certified with her dog—I loved the detail the author went into tho describe the various aspects of help a K-9 could do to help avalanche victims. From search and rescue to emotional support, it was amazing to read how special these K-9s can be. What I loved most of all was watching Felicity train Stone on working with avalanche dogs. The interaction between the two humans and between Stone and his dog was so sweet!

If you like K-9 stories with a friends-to-more romance, definitely check out Their Unbreakable Bond. It’s a sweet story that has a lot of K-9 detail. For that reason alone I greatly enjoyed it!

Sweet introduction to this series

Stone is back home after a bad accident, to help his mom who is battling cancer. He goes to work on the farm of his best friend. Felicity is supposed to let Stone follow her around to help him get back in the swing of things after being away working the rodeo for a while. But Stone was her preteen and teen crush! Felicity is worried that Stone will keep on with his careless adventurous way so she tries to ignore his appeal. Stone is suddenly noticing that his best friend's baby sister is all grown up. Then Felicity shows Stone how to work with their support dogs and get avalanche search training. But will Stone be able to convince Felicity that he has left his adventurous ways behind? Read this to find out!

The pace is engrossing and the tone is hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and some kisses but no steam. The characters are vibrant and engaging. The Christian ideals are woven into the and and make it more appealing. This is a nice quiet read with fun dogs, cowboys and lots going on. Enjoy!

Romance was sweet, there just wasn’t enough about the K-9 training as I expected, especially since this is a K-9 series. Several things, like Felicities grief and anger about her former boyfriends death wasn’t resolved nor how she found her way back to God. Stone was a kind, considerate sweetheart. Yet it was constantly pointed out what a self centered jerk he had been for many years yet he never acted self centered. He went out of his way to be kind to a young disaster victim and then the child vanished from the book. Sort of like he was just put in as filler. It really was a charming book. I just expected more from the author after reading a number of her other books.

As a rule, I love Love Inspired books because they're short easy reads that are still packed full of romance. Their Unbreakable Bond fit that expectation perfectly. It was such a sweet book and while Felicity had her moments of reservation, she ultimately didn't let it control her life. Plus, this is part of the K9 companions group of books so a dog (or in this case two) features prominently in the story and I adore dogs. I was even happier that one of the dogs was a super sweet pit mix as my family has a super sweet pit mix. I loved seeing that breed in a good light. I didn't originally have other books about this family on my TBR but I think I will now because I'd love to see more!

As I read this book, it seemed like a sequel to something rather than the first book in a series. As it turns out, this book is #4 in the Rocky Mountain Family series AND the first book in this series. Now I want to read those books!

From the back cover: "His life has skidded off the tracks…Can she help him start over?

Training avalanche rescue dogs with his best friend’s sister, Felicity Winslow, was never in Stone Keller’s plans. But after a reckless motorcycle accident ends his rodeo career, he has nowhere to go but home to Colorado. Working with the dogs—and Felicity—could be exactly what he needs to put the pieces of his life back together."

A quick read romance but with lots of depth and heart. Felicity and Stone reconnect in this great story that includes horses, family, faith, country life, and of course dogs. The one thing I should have looked into as whether this book was part of a series. While it’s the first book in the K-9 Companions series, it’s actually the 4th book in the Rocky Mountain Family Series by Deb Kastner. It can be read as a standalone, but I believe the readers experience would be enhanced by first reading the preceding 3 books in the Rocky Mountain Family series.

This story features Stone and Felicity who fall in love while training with dogs for avalanche rescue in Colorado. This is a brother’s best friend romance. Very chaste as it is part of HQN’s Love Inspired line. I needed a break from spooky seasonal reads, and I wanted a dog book that is SAFE for dog lovers like myself. This was delightful and very easy to read, and I never once worried about the dogs.

I’ll be continuing with the K9 Companions series.

Great book...well written to display how therapeutic dogs help people affected by all types of devastating tragedies. In this story, Felicity and Stone were able to demonstrate and comfort many families affected by an avalanche, who lost their homes.
