The Last Dragorai #3

A Lair So Primal

Rate this book
From a dark, magic-ravaged world comes an enthralling new fantasy romance series. Five brothers, last of an ancient Alpha bloodline, each bound by fire and blood to their majestic dragons.

She trespassed on his land. Now she is his to keep.

While traveling to a dragon lord’s lair, Elora crosses forbidden land belonging to the lord’s brother, a viciously territorial alpha named Zendyor.

Known for his legendary temper, Zendyor and his bonded dragon are feared across the realm… and now, because of one mistake, she must be turned over to him.

Though she has suffered tragedies through a long-waged war that would make most crumble, Elora is the ultimate optimist and looks to the future with hope.

But nothing prepares her for the seductiveness of his fury.

Terrified, she tries to avoid him and shine a light against the darkness that permeates his lair, but the alpha will not allow it.

His dark attentions turn into a carnal obsession.

Soon she is caught in his storm, unable to tell the difference between his never-ending fury and his primal hunger for her.

When a sudden opportunity arises to escape him, Elora discovers secrets about herself that crush her eternal optimism.

But Zenyor will not allow her to evade his claim. As his rage reaches heights that threaten the realm, he wants everything she is.

He may be the final battle she cannot survive.

A LAIR SO PRIMAL is the third book in The Last Dragorai, an adult fantasy romance series. This series can be read as standalones but will be better enjoyed if read in order. Includes romance of a dark nature and a HEA.

I'm a trash raccoon for this series...

description

...and I really enjoyed this installment.

So much OTT possessiveness.
So much alpha everything.
So much delicious ridiculousness.

I just love it.

I will say that I'm starting to think it's a little pathetic that this group of supposedly super powerful beings - who have fire-breathing dragons FFS - keep getting their asses basically handed to them by the human king and queen...but what can you do.

description

Can't wait for the next installment...and really can't wait for the lead brother's book (which I suspect will be last).

Dark and Yummy!!

I really enjoyed this installment to the series. Just like Zendyor, this was dark, raw, and primal. He's known as the most vicious of the clan, easily giving in to furious rages. Even his dragon, Yorgynel, is the most violent and unpredictable of the all the dragons. So when Zendyor finally gets his hands on Elora, he will find out one way or another how she crossed his land almost undetected, and make sure she pays her debt to him like the criminal she is.

Zendyor is fierce, intense, and animalistic. Elora on the other hand is friendly, bright, and always wants to find something to smile about in every situation. So when Zendyor comes for her drenched in blood and ferociously mates with her, she sees it as a way to pay her debt. Not to mention there's no way Elora can deny the almost manic chemistry and attraction they have when together.

I really liked this one. This was very dark with elements of dubious consent. I loved how vicious and raw Zendyor was, yet the more he was with Elora the more she could help calm his rages. We definitely had a big move made by one of the players in the war, plus a visit by a Goddess to throw some uncertainty into the mix as well. So now we have two brothers left to find their mates, a missing dragon to locate, and a realm to overtake. I can't wait for the next one!!

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

My Review

This has been my favourite out of the series so far. It has a slightly darker flavour than the previous books Zendyor and his dragon Yorgynel seemed a whole lot more primal than their counterparts. We originally learned of Elora way back in the first book she was the girl who had trespassed on another Dragorai’s territory whilst making her way to her assigned meeting point to become a part of Nyro’s lair. Here she is handed over to Zendyar who is still livid with her actions and also suspicious of her motives.

From the moment Elora arrives in her new lair she knows it is going to be different. Rather than the warm sense of community and belonging she is used to Zendyor’s home is serious and all about rules and obeying and as she has broken them rather than this being her new home she is actually initially treated with suspicion and animosity because of her previous actions. She has no clear role assigned and she still has a debt to pay off. Her new master is far from welcoming and with his legendary temper and actions towards her on arrival Elora naturally feels fearful and alone.

Zendyor can’t help but be drawn to the new omega in his lair but as much as he is becoming addicted to her scent and body he doesn’t believe she’s as innocent as she claims and he vows to unearth all of her secrets no matter how long it takes. Elora despite her initial fear is equally as drawn back to him and her new role as his unofficial bedmate. Underneath Zendyor’s intense manner is an alpha Dragorai who is all for his omega and despite his initial unwelcoming persona and actions, Zendyor is all for his new mate even before he realised just quite what Elora is to him.

This had plenty of chemistry and the sex is incredibly hot it’s all animal instinct and ferocity and some delicious dubious consent. It is well written and can be read as a stand-alone though reading in order will obviously enhance the experience. This was a great addition to the series moving the story further along and I’m excited to discover where this will go next. I definitely recommend this series. I voluntary reviewed a copy of A Lair So Primal.

YES, so much angst when she first arrived to that terrible lair and how she hated the beast! Woot!!! This lair is strict and everyone's terrified. I love it. I love this alpha's temper, very alpha, not a soft beta in an alpha's body. And his dragon's bond with her is so sweet, the big scary beast. I love this fantastical world created by Zoey Ellis; dragons, alphas with dragon bonds, and omegas chosen by goddesses. Btw, "Kon’aya",mistress, sounds like "canalla", the Spanish word for scoundrel. xD

A Lair So Primal by Zoey Ellis is the third book in The Last Dragorai series and it was magical, intense, heartbreaking at times, and highly erotic. I had been anticipating Elora and Zendyor's book ever since they were first introduced in the series and their romance did not disappoint. I would not recommend reading this as a standalone because it establishes upon the world-building, story, and lore from the first two books in the series. Zendyor is the third brother to fall in love and yet he is also the most temperamental, serious, and suspicious of them all. I absolutely loved watching him become completely obsessed and possessive over Elora even though I wanted to smack him on the side of the head because of how he was treating her initially. Elora is Zendyor's complete opposite because she is sweet, optimistic, kind, and endearing but she is also the foil to his character. Their interactions were intense, sexually charged, and passionate.

"Elora took comfort in Zendyor and feared him, he terrorized her and healed her. It wasn't supposed to be this way… This was dangerous, carnal, and even perverse."

Zoey Ellis has done a wonderful job establishing the relationship between Elora and Zendyor from previous books. Much like I'mya and Nyro's story, my favorite part of the book was their chemistry and push-pull relationship. I thought Elora was the heart of this book and it was heartbreaking to finally know the truth behind her faction and escape from the Northern Cities. Her optimistic and kind nature was what brought light to Zendyor's world and home. Even though their relationship was rocky at first because of Zendyor's suspicious nature, it eventually developed into something more over time. I loved how we could see Zendyor's struggle to believe in Elora and his increasing desire for her even when she was telling him the truth the entire time.

"I will always be your family. Your rock, your base, whenever you feel unsettled… I exist for you."

In the end, this was a fantastic addition to the series and I can't wait to read Sethorn and Uraya's book next! From what we know of him, Sethorn is charming, has playboy-like tendencies, is a great strategist, and gets into a lot of arguments with Uraya. I am also really looking forward to Khyros' book, the leader of the Vattoro, because of his missing dragon. Elora and Zendyor's was everything I wanted and more. If you love a possessive and jealous hero who will stop at nothing to claim and protect his heroine, I highly recommend this series! It has magic, DRAGONS, steamy love scenes, wonderful characters, and a really well-built world.

This is Zendyor and Elora’s book. We met Elora in the first book, she was one of the new recruits into Nyro’s Kon-aya with I’mya. At the end of that book, Nyro informed her she needed to go to Zendyor’s lair because he was pissed that she trespassed on his land on her trek to Nyro’s castle. I skipped the second book and never felt lost.

I really liked Elora. She had a quiet strength that I thought the author did a fantastic job of illustrating. So many times authors make their h’s brash and bitchy in the quest to make them “strong” but females can be kind and nurturing and strong as well. I loved that.

Zendyor is a bit of a savage. He’s the wildest/roughest of the brothers with the worst temper and the best at war. IMHO, Z.E. did a much better job compared to the first book of giving these mc’s a personality other than arguing and having sex. These two were sort of had a yin/yang or calm to the storm connection and it worked.

Bottom Line- I liked this one better than the first book mostly because I like the mc’s better. I found Elora MUCH more likable than I’mya, and I like an ALPHA, alpha, so Z fit that bill too. I also thought his dragon was badass. My only real complaint was that it drags at parts, and I tend to get bored when nothing is really happening. I enjoyed it, but not enough to move forward with the series. I feel like they’ll all sort of be the same. Loads of sex while being outsmarted somehow by the lesser being King and Queen. 🤷‍♀️ I am hoping at the end they find a hidden island with girl dragons, so the lonely dragons can have mates. 🤞

A Lair So Primal (#3) features Elora & Zendyor.

Zendyor is a not a Dragorai to be messed with but when he comes to know that his dan askha had not informed him about a gold-haired trespasser, his fury has no limits. He demands his brother, Nyro to return back the female who had dared to cross his territory in order to reach Nyro's lair intending to unravel all of Elroa's secrets and ulterior motives.

Zendyor and Elora’s story!

Zoey ellis, A Lair So Primal.
Zendyor and Elora’s story!
My favourite one so far.. so hot and alpha primal read loved it.
Is book three in this amazing series
just be warned that the Alphas start out brutal in the beginning, but very quickly learn they must cave to their Omega and end up cherishing them.
He is the alpha of all alpha’s. It’s very primal all alpha male. His dragon is adorable I fell in love with his dragon.
The sex and attraction are instant and hot and heavy.
This had plenty of chemistry and the sex is incredibly hot it’s all animal instinct. It is well written and can be read as a standalone though reading in order will obviously enhance the experience. This was a great addition to the series moving the story further along and I’m excited to discover where this will go next. I definitely recommended this series.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This is the third installment of a phenomenal series involving Alphas bonded to their mystical dragons and their fated Omega mates. Zoey Ellis goes beyond all her prior work and gives us an unforgettable dark fantasy story in the Omegaverse trope featuring Zendyor and Elora. This book is a perfect blend of magic, dragons, Alphas and Omegas. We are served a delectable portion of those Alphas we have come to love and hate along with their soft loving and fierce Omegas. Add in the elements of magic, where powerful magnificent dragons are bonded to Alpha dragorais, elusive Goddesses, and fated mates, and you have a marvelous story that will take you across realms. From the very first book Zendyor was this enigma that was suspicious and hard to decipher. Elora comes along, unknowingly turning his entire existence upside down because she holds a secret of her own. I absolutely loved this story and Zoey Ellis brings us to yet another amazing journey a-la-dragon-flying style. I cant wait for the next installment of this outstanding series.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

This is the third book in The Last Dragorai series and features Zendyor and Elora. A Lair So Primal definitely made up for the previous one that fell a little flat for me. I loved Zendyor's possessiveness, ruthlessness, obsessiveness and broody disposition. Elora was such an optimistic character and was a perfect light to Zendyor's dark. Their contrasting personalities made for such a delicious and smutty read.

Elora leaves her home to go to a lair but crosses Zendyor's territory and when he finds out he demands she be returned to him. Set on punishment, Zendyor is surprised when Elora is returned to him and something primal and carnal starts brewing between them. But Elora has secrets and Zendyor wants answers. Will Elora open herself up to Zendyor and give in to the fiery passion between them? Will Zendyor be able to keep Elora safe when trouble comes knocking?

This was a great installment in this world. There was so much more happening than just their fated mate relationship developing and it was balanced well with the other elements of the story. I really enjoyed the parts with Zendyor's dragon and Elora. I've noticed that Ellis connects the heroine with the hero's dragon in different ways in each story and I really like that touch!

Overall, this was smutty, action packed and had great character and world development. I would have liked to have had a few more Zendyor POV chapters but overall I think Ellis is doing such an amazing job with this series. I'm looking forward to the last brothers, especially the leader!

Rating: **2.8 stars**

We get another dose of over-bearing, controlling alpha male and the sweet heroine which is my jam but without an interesting and well panned plot this one falls short like the previous one. The chemistry btwn the leads also seems bland sans the erotic scenes.

Here's to hoping we see an organic and better developed chemistry and plot in the next one.

I just love the covers in this series and this author is an auto buy! Omegaverse is one of my favorite genres and this one even has dragons! Third book in a series but read them in order for the best pleasure!

What did I like? The author really opens up the series in this one by giving not just Zendyor and Elora’s story but sets the stage for the next brother as well. Zendyor was completely different from his brothers and Elora’s struggle was heart wrenching. I enjoyed the couple as the fire between them was stoked! This author is a gifted story teller! Five stars!

Would I recommend or buy? I love this series and recommend it to omegaverse lovers! I grab the next story as soon as it’s out! By far the best omegaverse writer I’ve come across! This series has a great story line, steamy scenes, and great alpha men! I’m hooked!

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review! I also buy a copy because this woman needs to keep writing!

Losing All Control🐉🍆⛲💪💕
ADULT XXX Alpha Dragon 🐉🍆⛲💪 Romance 💕 and Adventure with Magic.

This is a Dragon 🐉 shifter novel but also an Alpha and Omega novel with Zendyor🐉🍆⛲💪, a highly dominant and eternally angry Dragon 🐉shifter King 👑 who uses and abuses his Omega mate Elora💃💋 , anytime he feels like it. Dubious consent in the beginning. Not for the faint hearted!

This novel has been out for a while and although I haven't read any of the other books in this series, I was able to muddle through it as a standalone. There is enough back story to figure out what has gone before.

The ADULT scenes are rough, dark, and quite graphic. It's word porn at its finest!

This book was an amazing read that once I started I could not put it down, finished it in one sitting and was very happy that I had nothing planned for a few hours. It moves along at the perfect speed for this story, speeding up at the right times and slowing down when needed. The characters are amazing and you cannot help but fall in love with them. This is a must read, and it needs to be on your TBR list.

Miss Ellis has done it again! This book is undoubtedly my favorite from this series so far.
Love me some dark, grumpy, sexy Hero and a sweet heroine. Actually, cruel hero/sweet heroine might be my favorite trope in dark romance because I enjoy it soo much when the Hero has to grovel after the heroine, and our Zendyor here was a real asshole to Elora mainly at the beginning of their story but he certainly makes up for it after, so while reading this I was just 😍.
LOVED the sex scenes as well and I'm so happy they got their happy ending!

Just finished reading this. I’m so proud of and happy for Ellis. She’s done such a good job with this series, and I can’t imagine how difficult it is to create completely different characters (5 total, right?) in the same universe. Yet somehow, she does.

I’ve read book 1 and book 3. I’ll have to finish book 2 soon. What struck me about Zendyor and Elora is how dynamic they are. Zendyor starts off as a raving lunatic who tortured her and details what he would’ve done had he caught her. He has a terrible temper, as does his dragon. His lair is uninviting and isolated, and his dragan is damaging the mountain they live in.

Elora is all smiles, chipper Dan. However, she grapples with a screwed up past and questions her faith in the Goddesses. I really enjoyed how she sought to make his territory more like a community, stressing the importance of caring about one another, and helped organize his subjects (I guess?) and their work.

Zendyor ends up curbing his rage and learns to apologize; Elora accepts what the Goddesses have in store for her and realizes her own potential.

I thought the conflict with religion was a very interesting one; I haven’t seen this in any other omegaverse story thus far. It made the story much more tangible. Ellis grazes over themes such as choice and free will. The Goddesses make decisions that confuse and infuriate some of the characters in a way that also affects the reader. I’m interested in learning more about them.

As a side note, it made me smile how Yorgynel coveted treasure and often brought home pieces of metal/gold. That was such a cute detail.

A few things could have been improved. This book is primarily based on Zendyor and Elora’s relationship; it’s not high fantasy. However, I would have loved if the world building had been a bit better. The North Cities may not be 100% integral to the plot, but it would have deepened our the readers’ connections to the story. I also think, as much as I enjoyed Zendyor or Elora, that our MCs could have been a bit more fleshed out. It’s difficult to create completely contrasting characters in a family like this so I give Ellis that.

I liked the explanation of magic in this story, too. Again, it’s not primarily a fantasy novel, so the author did a good job at adding just enough to give us good balance (wink wink).

Anyway, I’m excited to finish the series. I hope Zoey keeps publishing her ideas! Really glad that she is still in this business and delivering awesome content!

Elora is a young woman who, fleeing from the war, ends up in Nyro's dragon's lair, but soon, Zendyor, Nyro's brother, sends for her because in her flight she crossed his territories and wants to know how she did it.
At the beginning of her arrival, she is treated as an enemy by everyone, in part because that is how Zendyor treats her, but that does not prevent him from taking her as his lover.
Over time, Elora manages to strike up conversations and relationships with Zendyor's staff, but it's not until he pressures her to tell him everything that she is hiding from him, that Elora discovers something about herself that will change her and Zendyor forever.
It's entertaining.

I am so happy to finally get to Zendyor and Elora's story. He was always so angry in the previous books and Elora was so sweet and generous. So I couldn't wait to see how she changed him and how their story progressed. Zendyor starts off on the wrong foot with Elora, but he does end up getting it right eventually. And just like his brothers in the previous books he doesn't realize what Elora means to him.

I also loved how you end up finding out more about the overall story. And Elora ends up being really special. I really loved it and can't wait for the next one!

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired from reading Zoey Ellis’ books — and this book just proves it! I couldn’t put it down, it was just that good. To be truthful I didn’t think I would like the MC’s, Elora and Zendyor, maybe due to the fact of how they were written in the last books. But after reading this, I’ve surprisingly liked them more than the last book’s couple! This was a spectacular book and I cannot wait to read the next one!

Okay, now we are back on track. I was getting a bit worried because I thought A Lair So Loyal was an okay story. A Lair So Primal was longer, which I appreciated, and slightly darker which was great. I think Zendyor and Elora just may be my favorite couple. There’s still two more books to go though and I keep getting more and more excited to read each one!

I think I liked this book the most. H was seriously agressive and me loved that shit up like a birthday cake.

So far he's my favorite of the brothers. Also, h was most of the book vulnerable and this super happy cute family person. It was nice to see how she grew into her strength and accepted her place.

Finally some really good book. My book slump is killing me, but I know I can always count on Zoey. She just writes the best Omegaverse!
