The first chapter of my happily ever after just walked into my class.... only he's competing for my job. Talk about a plot twist.
Enid I'm not the kind of woman people remember. Or talk about. Or see. I mean, I've been mistaken for a chair—more than once. I was okay being a wallflower, a bluestocking, a spinster-in-waiting. I dedicated myself to my work, and I was satisfied with my life. Happy even. Or at least I was, until Henry. Now I want to be seen. I want the love story. I want the hero who only has eyes for me. Except he's been invited to apply for the job I was promised. As perfect as this romance-reading-tea-sipping-Brit may be, there's no way in hell I'm letting him win. I thought this would be our love story. I think it's about to turn into a true crime.
Warning: This happily-ever-after involved book quotes, fangirling, and a man who reads romance. Hold on to your paperbacks, this book has all the makings of a classic lovestory!

Oh my God, that was the greatest love tale I've ever read, and I wish I could experience it in person, but for the time being, I'll settle for a book because the book means more to me than the strange people in my town haha.
This was an enjoyable read. This is book 3 of the Love 101 series. The story is about the romance between Enid, a English lit professor and Henry, a visiting British professor. I thought they were cute when she fangirled him and he fanboyed her. Also, I thought the relationship was great despite it being way to short. I really liked them as a couple and as individual characters. Henry is visiting from Britain for research on a poet that he admires. Enid is an English lit professor at the school that Henry is doing his research at. She is trying to get a tenure position. I would describe them both as smart, quirky and sexy. The ending seemed a bit rushed. I wanted more content on what happened, and their happily ever after. Despite that, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the story. I cannot wait to read the other books in the Love 101 series even though they are really short. Overall, a great read.
Absolutely loved Henry and Enid! Nothing like two people who have been crushing and fan girl or boying on someone that they have respected in their line of work, meeting and realizing that they have that zing that only means great things. That’s what happens when Henry starts his research at the same college where Enid is working on her tenure. They’ve both heard of the other but never expected to have that connection. I love the way that Enid starts coming out of her shell with the attention that Henry gives her. These two were definitely two peas on a pod and made for the other. Love that they got more then they could have ever dreamed possible. Great Read!!
Story of Enid, an English lit professor at the university outside of the Cove, and a British visiting professor who is a fanboy to her fangirl.
The drama that could have been, but wasn't, was whether or not E would get the tenure that she desperately wants.
Great story, but Enid is the sister-in-law of Hayden, part of the Dogg family. This is the only connection to the Dogg Pack, which is a little sad for me.
First things first; I really like the cover of this book! Bad English is a novella in the ‘’love 101’’ collection. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline an easy read. Henry is an English man visiting America for research on his latest project. Whilst at the college he’s using, he meets fellow professor, Enid, one of his idols. When a spark starts between them, will love blossom? The chemistry between Enid and Henry is clear to see and I liked them together. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
Evie has done it again! Loved Henry! Enid and Henry are obsessed with the other's work and have a little bit of a crush on the other based on their intellect and merits. They finally get to meet, but are up for the same job! Fortunately they get their HEA, once their mutual admiration comes to a steamy interaction! It was great to see a man swoon this time and be obsessed with a woman by more than her body! But who will get the tenure position?! Enjoy this quick, steamy, nerdy, funny story and find out!
A Match Made in Literary Heaven! Enid and Henry both crush on each other even before ever meeting in person. With silly and sexy puns, Henry manages to sweep Enid out of the dark corners she hides in and into a bright and colorful world of romance and a love that resonates throughout time in this wonderful instalove story!!
"Henry was the kind of academic that student-teacher romance books were made of."
This book was sweet and well written. Unfortunately I found it extremely boring. There was almost no conflict in it. During the dark/black spot, the hero didn't even know it was happening. Just... boring.
Evie never fails to deliver a great book. Henry and Enid were great and I loved the reference to other books that have been written in the past. Highly recommended read
I liked this one better than the first, but the same problems arise. The story is too short to add much depth. I liked the characters, but the story is unrealistic.
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
4.5/5 stars Enid is a brilliant professor but a wallflower, she is overlooked by people all the time, heck she’s been sat on by people not realizing she’s actually sitting in the chair. Her goal is to become a tenured professor at the university where she teaches. Her students love her, she makes English literature come alive with her teaching style. Henry is a research fellow who’s at the university to prove that a well know male author was really a female who had to pretend to be male in order to publish her work. Both are huge fans of each other’s work and their interactions are cute hero worship. He invites her to work on his project with him, she accepts and they spend time together. Phillip a professor who will be retiring soon encourages Enid to spend time with Henry. His is the open tenured spot Enid has applied for, unfortunately the Dean encourages Henry to apply for the position. Thinking it’s his chance to stay in town where Enid is he puts his name in the running. Enid being a mature smart woman decides to not tell Henry she has applied for the position, but instead to enjoy his company and see where their attraction will lead. It leads to lots of hot sexy times when Henry invites Enid over for dinner. Just before Enid arrives the Dean stops by and offers Henry the job and wanting to stay near Enid he accepts. He never gets to tell Enid, she blindsides him by taking her dress off and seducing him. The next morning the Dean asks her to stop by the office, Enid on the way decides he’s more important than the position so she will accept what the Dean decides. When she tells her they offered Phillip’s position to Henry she is hurt but understands. But wonderful plot twist, they want her to head up the master’s program which she had pitched a year ago. It’s a tenured position too and of course she accepts. When she tells Henry about her having applied for Phillip’s job he’s devastated and says he will tell the Dean he doesn’t want it, but she explains her new position and he’s so happy and relived. I love yous and sexy time on the research table knocking over a box leads to finding a key letter that proves the author he was researching was a female who disguised herself as male to publish and to marry her lady love. Epilogue two years later at their wedding, after the vows Enid’s water breaks. Bonus epilogue you download that sets up Keiko’s book. I liked the plot twist of course because that meant Enid didn’t have to give up her dream. Loved that Henry was ready to turn down the job because accepting it hurt Enid. I did feel let down by the super short epilogue, not very satisfying.

Adorable! Loved the academic, literary, classic-university setting. Great peripheral relationships with friends, co-workers, and family. Fun plot. Heart-swelling long-standing admiration and affection between the main couple. I could hear Enid's irresistible voice, and see Henry's adorable smile. The fourth star is for all of these things.
I liked that Enid and Henry are charming, regular-looking people, as opposed to world-class beauties. But in the context of this fantasy, Enid's harsh judgement of her body made me uncomfortable. I'd rather she see herself realistically, and still feel beautiful -- because she isn't deflated by artificial beauty standards commercially designed to damage self-esteem for profit. Because she loves herself, and can also see herself through Henry's enamored, lusty eyes.
I'm going to nitpick about the sex and the ending now. Spoiler warning: skip the rest, if you don't want spoilers. I tagged it to blur, but I don't think tags work in the app.
Bad English is such a fun, flirty, and surprisingly sweet read! The story is lighthearted, playful, and perfect if you’re looking for a quick romance that still hits all the feels. The characters are easy to love. The heroine is funny, relatable, and full of personality, while the hero is charming, confident, and completely swoon-worthy. Their chemistry is instant but believable, full of flirty banter, awkward moments, and little gestures that make you root for them. What I really enjoyed is how the story balances humor, romance, and heart. It’s cheeky and fun, but there are also sweet moments that show the characters growing and connecting in meaningful ways. The romance feels natural and earned, with just the right amount of heat and sweetness. Overall, Bad English is a feel-good, entertaining, and easy-to-read romance. It’s perfect for a quick pick-me-up, leaving you smiling and swooning all at once.
Okay, these book was cute!! I love reading about two book nerds falling in love! I could picture them on the couch, fire going, wrapped up in a blanket, just reading books all night long!
Enid and Henry have admired each other's work for a while. In fact, they both have a crush on each other. When Henry comes to do research at the college and sees Enid, he can finally act on his crush. Enid is shocked that Henry likes her, she is a nerd and loves books. It is so cute when Henry and Enid get together, they take their time and date one another.
Now, Henry just needs to find a way to stay at the college while not destroying Enid's work dreams. I loved how they were mature and talked everything out. No silly miscommunication problems!
Romance genre: office romance Series: Love 101 Length: 61 pages
Plot: Enid is a professor at a small university, and one of her academic heroes is coming for a visit. He's doing some research and will also do some lectures at the school. Henry is also a fan of Enid's, so they are both excited to meet each other. Once there, though, Enid's boss decides that Henry should apply for the position that Enid wanted. Now that they've expressed their feelings to one another, how will they deal with office politics?
Character development: My favorite part of the story is the excitement that both characters showed for their work. I didn't feel a strong spark between the characters, but as an English teacher, I appreciated their passion for the research into an author and her work.
Evie's latest novel is a triumph, capturing hearts with the charming tale of Henry and Enid. Both are brilliant minds, each secretly enamored with the other's intellectual achievements and virtues. Their paths cross when they vie for the same coveted job, leading to a delightful twist of fate. As their professional rivalry turns into a passionate encounter, readers are treated to a refreshing narrative where it's the man who is utterly captivated by a woman's mind rather than her physique. The burning question remains: who will secure the tenure position? Dive into this witty, sizzling, and intellectual romance to discover their happily ever after.
Before the characters could get fully fleshed out, the story was over. Everything happened too quickly. There was zero depth to the story or characters. The British guy was a cheesy stereotype of a European romantic lead and she was the stereotypical woman who doesn't see her worth. It was so poorly written and unenjoyable. The dialogue felt forced and artificial. I'm not sure why Enid had a roommate. Just when you think there's going to be a major conflict, not only does the FMC decide she will give up her career aspirations for the man, she gets all she wanted and more. So, it was too tidy and unrealistic.
LOVES: - We saw Enid go from using affirmations that she didn’t really believe about herself to being loved for who she is and recognized for her professional abilities 💛 - They both crushed on each other and he just out and admits it all the time. Couldn’t love that more ☺️ - Evie definitely got my anxiety up! Love being nervous and then relieved for the characters.
Really cute and even being short, it didn’t feel like it was missing anything 🥰
Henry and Enid are both career academics with an end goal which puts them in direct competition with each other. Working together gives them the opportunity to find a mutual attraction and as Enid starts to blossom under Henry's attention but will all his good work be in vain when the person who was granted tenure is announced. A quick fun read with a small connection to the Dogg Pack.
I was intrigued by Henry before and how literature obsessed man would fair in his own romance, and his and Enid's story did not disappoint. I love how they were aware of each other professionally and Henry still manages to sweep her off her feet. I've always though Mitchell's writing to be poetic and Henry and Enid's story allowed her to flaunt her beautiful skills a bit more.
This was a cute and speedy read that I really enjoyed! I loved the hot nerd dynamic in this book and could definitely see a little bit of myself in the main characters. The ending felt a little rushed to me, but I'm not super experienced with novellas and how quickly the story moves. Overall, this was a fun, wholesome romance story that I would recommend!
3.25 🌟 Spice: open door Format: ebook (novella <100 pages)
Eh, cute enough to finish but not mind blowing or anything. Was quite bored for a time and for less that 100 pages that's not great. Would have liked to feel more tension with these characters, especially since it's insta love. It felt lacking.
I read this book with a small smile on my face the entire time. Enid was funny and the right amount of awkward to make her relatable regardless of your own personal nerd level. Henry was dreamy and no one writes a man who loves to read as much as Evie Mitchell!
Henry has been fascinated with Enid for years from afar but getting the chance to work with her is a dream come true. Enid has the same feelings about Henry, these two just work. They won't let anything keep them down in this sweet read.
Absolutly love Evie Mitchell's books, she never fails to hit me in the feels with her stories and Henry and Enid's story is no different. Love thay Henry knows Enid is the one for him and how she takes a chance and let's go even though she may miss out on her dream job. Who doesn't love a HEA?
That was so freaking cute🥰🥰🥰Two book nerds that had a celebrity crush on each other for years. Now they finally meet and their chemistry is instant😍😍😍Insta love, sweet, safe, romantic without drama and a sweet HEA. 👍👍👍
Henry and Enid’s story is so incredibly sweet!!! Evie Mitchell always writes well developed storylines with amazing characters and even better NSFW scenes. Loved this sweet tale!!!!
