Legacies: Van Helsing Academy, by author Stacey O'Neale, is the second book in the authors Supernatural Rehab trilogy. Perfect for fans of Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, and Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep. This story picks up immediately after the events of Van Helsing Academy. Mina Van Helsing, the great, great granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing who created the Order & Reapers, is back to square one after surviving an attack on the courthouse and having the High Council reject her appeal for a new trial.
I was surprised to see Cassius's point of view! Though I wished we got more, the few we did get held my interest and kept me turning the pages as we saw things from his eyes. Honestly, it was just the right amount if I think about it, for us to watch and feel for him as his character developed!
Now, for the rest of the story I did enjoy even though some days I wasn't rushing to pick up the book. Mina is back to being a reaper part time and it was intriguing to watch her speak up for both sides and open peoples minds to how the other side is, that neither reapers or supes are bad even though there are a few bad apples like anything in the world.
Overall, there were a few cliche formula parts in the story, but for the most part it became its own original tale. The drama and action had me on the edge of my seat! If you liked the first one then you'll enjoy how everything plays out in this one. I'm excited to see where things go and how everything will conclude in the third book! Once again, there's so much that happens in this book that I don't want to give too much away and spoil things.
This was a great sequel to the first book and one that made me want to know more. I liked how this was not just from Mina's perspective but also from Cassius which gave more insight into the uprising from the vampire perspective. I did think that Mina not being with her friends as much in this one made me a bit disappointed as they really bring the whole book together. However, I am really excited for the third book!
I so enjoy reading Staceys books. This one did not disappoint me either. Mina makes a good super hero along with her crew of supes. If you read book one then you def need to read book 2 . I can hardly wait for installment 3. Keep up the good works.
I have work in a few hours but couldn't seem to put this book to bed for the night. The last few chapters were so climatic with Mina that I needed closure from chapter to chapter to finally end book two. Really well plotted out series from the amazing Stacey O'Neale.
