He calls himself an ‘acquisitions expert.’ In reality, the charming, handsome Thesian is a space pirate. And I trust the 7-foot tall alien about as far as I can throw him.
But at this point, I have to trust someone. Because the Grivath are hunting a little girl. A little girl who had the bad luck to grow up as a royal on a planet that they want to control.
I may not be great with kids, but even I know that I can’t let the Grivath get their hands on this princess.
And the ‘acquisitions expert’? He knows even less about kids than he does about honesty. But despite the captivating alien’s dubious moral compass, I can’t help but be drawn to him.
Even if deep down, I know he’s going to betray me.
Turns out, if it means protecting the kid, I’m willing to betray him first.
Love be damned.
Brutal is a full-length romance with no cliffhanger and a guaranteed HEA. Society of Savages is a spin-off from the hugely popular Warriors of Agron series and features characters from the Arcav Alien Invasion series. You'll enjoy Brutal more if you start with Wicked– book 1 in the Society of Savages Series
Hope Hart has always told stories, and eventually, the characters in her head wouldn't leave her alone until she wrote them down.
She loves strong, kickass heroines and hot, brooding alpha males. Hope believes that everyone deserves a happy ending, although the best happy endings are fought for.
I liked this latest entry in the series. Emma is sent to rescue a Quet princess, which ok seems like slot for one lone human woman, even if she’s a trained cop. When things inevitably go forward, Callux and his band of mercenaries are sent to rescue them and deliver them to his brother Malakaz on Brexos. Things seem simple until they’re anything but, and along the way, romance happens.
Emma and Callux’s HEA felt earned by the end considering all the physical dangers they suffered but it was overcoming their own pasts that made that HEA pretty sweet.
There’s a tease for future stories and all in all, it’s leaning into Ms Hart’s strength of writing strong women going through some shite while falling in love with their aliens. If you’re a fan of SFR, I’d recommend this series especially if you read it in order.
I did not like the pirate Callux in the beginning. He screwed tons of women at multiple ports. Yuck/major turn off. I just don't get why a woman would want a dirty dick.
I really liked Emma from the get go. She was an honorable, brave, smart, and ethical excop. I also liked that she resisted Callux advances and she called him out on being a man whore which made him really think about his lifestyle.
I had mixed feelings when Callux's friend sacrificed his life and jumped in front of gunfire to save Callux from an ex lover's shot. She was pissed because he screwed her and then snuck out. After the friend died, Callux rightfully blamed himself. He was heartbroken and felt tremendous guilt. He thought about what Emma said and knew he had no substance and thought with his dick. But, what does he do? When Emma comes to comfort him, she asks what she can do, he says "Be with me" and screws her.
Even though, it was kind of wrong, he had been building up feelings for Emma and Rila. He had been very kind, thoughtful, protective, and a total sweetheart towards them. He was starting to change but it felt wrong for him to jump in the sack right after his friend sacrificed himself because of Callux's one night stand. In the end, Callux made a complete 180 and I ended up loving him.
Princess Rila was a very likable side character. I liked her spunk and feistiness. I am so glad Emma ended up being her mom.
Mc's and story was great. Lots of action and a good pace

Once again, very fun book. The author could have gone into more detail about the back stories of the main characters, bit overall great and believable love story. I really loved, that we got more details about the separation of the brothers and I can't wait for more details on Malakaz plans.
Not a big fan of the pregnancy trope, wouldn't have been necessary, especially because Emma and Callux already adopted Rila, but it wasn't to much focus on that, so I'll accept it.

Sometimes Princesses can be the biggest pain in the butt …
Third story of the new spin-off in the Arcav / Agron universe featuring two thieves, Emma and Callux. I personally do not consider this to be a stand-alone within the current series, as there are too many reoccurring characters and overarching scenes and themes. This series timeframe begins after the end of the original two Arcav series. So while it may not be absolutely necessary to have read those series, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend they also be read in publication order. This is because there is additional background that just can’t be adequately explained.
** This is an alien PNR series that features elements of female abduction and their intended enslavement. It contains scenes and /or themes that may be difficult for sensitive readers. A high-level listing of topics is listed below for anyone interested. **
— If you have not read this story, or any of the series, the following may contain spoilers! —
I really love the action and added mystery / suspense with this new series. Not only do we have the so called ‘treasure hunts’ the females are being sent on by Malakaz, which have some how all featured his estranged siblings, but the intrigue around his machinations and hidden agenda.
Emma was a cop on Earth before she was kidnapped by the Grivath. She was part of the first job and ended up on babysitting duty on another planet! That job has been done for several months, but Malakaz hasn’t seen fit to let her return to what passes for home right now. Then the call comes and he wants her to do another babysitting job, but with a pre-teen Princess! WTF?! She doesn’t do kids!
Emma arrives on the Princess’ planet and only has to wait around for hours and hours. Boring. Then before it gets completely black outside, a woman is leading a small lavender child down what is the secret path she was told about. (Lots of action later …) Emma was able to rescue Princess Rila, but she still has to get her off planet without discovery (and did you remember I said she is LAVENDAR 🤪) and then to Malakaz so he can take over. Too bad when they get back to the dock, the Captain is dead …
Callux is well admired by all the ‘ladies’ everywhere he goes. The team has been working various jobs and they are on Virix. While on the dock he sees a female that garners his immediate attention. She seems to reciprocate before a female he ‘knew’ last time he was on the planet approaches him for a repeat experience. He politely declines and gets back on board shortly thereafter.
Not long after they are in the air, a job offer comes through guarding something from a cargo ship. They almost decline it once Callux hears it is from Malakaz, his estranged older brother. Then the team hears the amount, they all agree to accept it, and get the code name of ‘Emmarila’ … whatever. Nothing pops with that name, so they will just have to deal with it when they get there. They pursue and catch up to the ship and then Callux discovers the woman from the docks … and he doesn’t know who is more surprised, him or her.
There are some grammatical errors in the story, but nothing difficult to interpret. I uploaded my other notes to Goodreads for anyone interested. I mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

Written in first person, Brutal is book 3 of the Society of Savages series. It follows the Thesian alien Callux, a species that is damn near extinction, and his human mate Emma. Emma was part of a human group that escaped their kidnappers (Grivath) after being abducted from Earth. It appears that most aliens despise the Grivath, who were also responsible for the decimation of the Thesians. The group of humans swore to seek vengeance by tracking down those who abducted them. The ship they stole ran out of fuel near the planet Brexos, the city of Teevor, which was unofficially ran by Malakaz, who happened to be Callux’s brother. In exchange for helping them get revenge, the women agreed to work for Malakaz doing odd jobs. In book 1, Makayla (a security specialist) broke Malakaz’s brother Jax out of prison, where they happened to find another brother Draz imprisoned, who was instantly fixated on Blaire when they busted him out. In book 2, Harper (a professional thief) was tasked with working with Bavix (also a professional thief and another brother of Malakaz) to first steal a location from a scientist, then the powerful artifact that the location led to. This book brought Emma (a cop) and Callux (a space pirate and brother of Malakaz) together. Their task was to intercept a kidnapping of a 9 year old princess and keep her safe. There was also the drama of Callux being a galactic playboy and Emma having insecurities and jealousy due to her cheating father. Honestly, I was severely disappointed in Emma’s character. She came across as too weak, vulnerable, unstable and naive to be a cop. Either way, they worked through their issues and became mates. Good thing too.
I’m seeing a theme here that shows a bigger plot in the making behind the scenes. Either fate has a goal to reunite these brothers, or Malakaz does. So far, he’s succeeded in finding 4. of his brothers and bringing them back to him. But all the brothers hate Malakaz for something he did as a child that hurt and separated them. Malakaz himself is fixated on the human female Aria, and I am looking forward to the book that brings the two together. This book reveals a little more about Malakaz that proves my theory.
I’m officially hooked on the story line of these couples and will undoubtedly finish this series. I like that it was written in first person perspective, and it had just the right balance of romance and adventure. The book wasn’t too long or too short, it was just right with a happily ever after. These are well written enough that I will also examine the author’s prior work. 🫶🏻
Oh gosh Hope is back at it again with her amazing stories!! We’re finally digging into Emma’s story! I’ve been waiting for the cop with the icy demeanour’s book and boy was it pleasing! Definitely no holds barred action, plot twists, heat and unfettered chaos! Did I mention steamy heat? 😉❤️ hubba hubba! 🥰. Emma and Callux had quite a wild time together, not only between the sheets but protecting a 9 year old princess from alien scum that wants to use her as a blackmail piece to get materials from her parents so they can make weapons. We can’t let that happen, right?! Heck no so it’s one heck of a world building job done by Hope, our favorite tyrannical dictator with an unending supply of brothers Malakaz makes his cameo appearances of course (I really like this guy) and we find out some really juicy family secrets. We also find out what’s been bugging Eloise. If you’ve been dying to know like I have then you better grab this book and read it!! So much happened in this book my mind was blown! 🤯🤯 I mean head clear off the shoulders! Hope just keeps bringing us better and better books. This stories keep getting bigger and keeps getting deeper with intrigue, harrowing main characters and tender moments in between all the action. She truly knows the proper balance to a good book!! I’m so excited for Blaire and Draz’s book next. There’s so much going on with so many people at once my head is spinning. Pick up these books! I still think you should start from the beginning if you’ve never read this series. The Arcav and Argon books were amazing and it will get you acclimated with the worlds, it’s people and why people hate certain alien species they way they do 🤣😂. Grivath, oh yeah genocide baby ✌🏾😈. This grumpy bear 🐻 gave this book 5 cosmic stars 💥💥💥💥💥.
I received this book as an ARC from the publisher for my honest, unbiased review
Emma is one of the humans working with Malakaz, an alien godfather sort. He sends her on a mission to rescue a young princess who has been targeted by the Grivath to use as a hostage to get what they want from her parents. To help her, Malakaz sends his brother, Callux, and the fun begins.
Oh man, I cannot tell you how much I loved this book! First of all, let’s talk FMC, Emma. Such a strong female lead. Sure she has some baggage, but she never devolves into stupid bitchiness. She can definitely hold her own with the male lead, Callux. From the moment their eyes met across a crowded marketplace they were on a trajectory that was going to be epic. Callux sees something he wants, he goes after it. One thing I absolutely loved was his unwillingness to let things fester. There was one point where Emma was having some issues dealing with his past and turned a bit cold to him. But he wasn’t having it. He kept asking her what happened, and basically made her tell him what made her feelings change towards him. I just so loved these two together. I love a reformed man whore, and I definitely got one here. Throw in a pre-teen princess, and well it made for some pretty fun banter. Especially when they commented that they were corrupting her . . . Teaching her how to fight, with knives, with a blaster. She’s definitely not going to be a demure princess, that’s for sure.
This was most definitely worth 5 stars. World building is rich, mostly because this is the third series that are related. Characters are well fleshed out and multi-dimensional at least to me, they were. I just loved this book, and the series as a whole. Read the books in order, read the other two series first, you’ll be glad you did. (Arcav Alien Invasion and Warriors of Agron) You will not be disappointed, especially if sci-fi romance is your thing.
Emma, was a cop before her abduction. She's been left on the planet st awaiting orders from Malakaz . When she gets those orders she's speechless. She has no business with a child but that's exactly what she has to do. Save the heir to a very important throne from being kidnapped and keep the child safe until further notice. Even though she's uncomfortable Emma will never let an innocent child suffer. Callux, is another of the Thesian brothers of Malakaz. He's been a womanizing space pirate for a very long time but when he first sees Emma he's drawn to her sad eyes and can't stop thinking about her.. When he finds out she's is one of the two he needs to rescue and keep safe he knows fate has a hand in their meeting. The action is intense you'll be glued to you kindle. The chemistry between Callux and Emma is scorching hot 🔥and young Rila will steal your heart ! Each of the book in the series thus far with make you wish for a Thesian all your own. It's a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series! I hate that I have to wait for the next one!😘😘💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥
Same type of pacing and progression as the previous books. I think I liked this one about the same as book two.
I wanted to like Emma more but I don't know.. She was a strong heroine who kicked ass all over the book. With a cop background it made sense. However, her sad backstory with her cheating dad and depressed mother hanging over her entire relationship with Callux really sucked out much of my enjoyment. I felt like it dragged a bit for me.
Callux was a fun guy and a sweet and sexy hero. I loved him. Even if he felt a little one dimensional, sadly. I could see the attraction to Emma for a guy like him but I also don't understand how they just gravitate towards each other so quickly in these books without a "fated mate" type of trope going down. It does feel authentic despite the quickness, unlike other books, but it's still a head scratching kind of thing.
Overall I enjoyed it. The end with the relationship hurdle and the angsty stuff kind of dulled it down for me.
And truthfully I went half star on it because the epilogue put us in Malakaz's POV with Aria and then the author had the nerve to end the book with telling us the next book is Draz and Blaire! Ugh, what a tease! 😂😒
In this third book we are introduced to the fifth brother - lothario and space pirate/mercenary. The MFC is a cop. His usual "lazy charm" doesn't work on her but he's drawn to her anyway and their relationship comes together in the end. My only complaint is that the main conflict they have is the MFC's jealousy of the constant female attention he gets. He does not encourage it but it still bothers the MFC. In this genre, and in this author's series, the MMC's are insanely possessive - it's primal and unreasonable and often irritating to the MFCs but the reader is supposed to understand that this is partly how they show their love. But the MFC isn't accorded that understanding here - her jealousy is a problem that needs to be fixed. I was a bit disappointed by it.
However, the book is still well worth the read. It included a preteen princess they are taking care of. Here's my favorite line - it's the MFC talking to the MMC about the kid:
“We’ve corrupted her.” “You’re a warrior, and I’m a mercenary. It was bound to happen.”
As always, I am drawn to the world of buff aliens with an edge to them like a month to a flame. Hope Hart never fails to provide well developed plots, fully fleshed-out characters, callbacks that tie the entire series together, and heroines who aren't simple foils for their male counterparts but forces to be reckoned with.
Working through your own emotional baggage is a mountain to climb in your own, but throw in a counterpart facing his own version of the same, as well as a precocious nine year old you are both out to protect from the scam of the galaxy and sparks of all different types are bound to fly. If you are looking for a new read, I recommend Depraved. Hands down. Emma, Callux, and Rila just may become your favorite imaginary people.
This is the weakest book so far. The heroine is jealous that other women are constantly hitting on the hero (hero has slept with many, many women).
The 9 year old princess is also a little annoying. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
The best part of the book was learning more about Malakaz and what he did to save his brothers in the past (he steered his escape pod towards the Grivath so they would shoot him down and think they had killed everyone. But he had forced his brothers into individual escape pods sent to different planets so they would all be scattered and have a better chance to survive. Malakaz was paralyzed for 5 years and unconscious for 2 years).
I truly loved Emma and Callux’s story! If you’re into adventure, action, humor and romance then you will definitely enjoy this book. What I love most is that, in each book, the FMC is a kick-ass, smart, resourceful, and very likable character. With so many of alien books out there, it is sometimes difficult to make a book stand out, but Hope Hart has definitely achieved that with each book of this series. Each one can be read as a standalone, and each one is very different from one another. I do recommend you still read them in order, as it will enhance your reading experience. Highly recommended ❤️❤️❤️
Callux and Emma's ride felt like a fast paved action movie with a slow building romance as the cherry on top!! Hope Hart has kept this series so well weaved together that every story builds on to the last effortless! Callux is not only a male of action but someone who is ready to give his heart to the right woman! Emma is fierce, determined, and just the type of woman Callux needs! I am ready for more of this series! More of Malakaz's tricks but I think he's in for his own treat!😉
I read this book as an ARC member and am voluntarily leaving this review
Oh my gosh, I think this is the best book so far in this series. A womanizing conceited pirate, A cop and a privileged child form the most unbreakable bond ever. The need to protect an innocent child from being used as a pawn for the Grivith. Full of action, adventure, romance, heartbreak and sorrow. An amazing story unfolds with a HEA

Hope Hart did it again! I give this book five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I went through a lot of emotions with this story, Emma and Callux are forever one of my favorite couples. ❤ I don't want to spoil anything but so many things happened in this book and my head is spinning with questions about the future of this series.
Ps. I can't wait for Malakaz and Aria's book. 🔥
I received this book as an ARC member and I'm sharing my honest review.
Every book just keeps getting better. I absolutely loved Emma and Callux. Emma's human emotions and experiences are so relatable. I love that she is broken but strong, courageous and scared at the same time, hard to the world but full of compassion. Their chemistry was fire. I felt all the emotions. Don't even get me started on this slow burn to Malakaz's story. I know it's going to be beautiful.
This author never ceases to amaze me. Yes these are romances between aliens and humans, yet they all feature beings who are flawed and just want to be accepted and loved. Callux has tried to hide behind a devil may care facade and Emma doesn't trust attractive men. Their journey is wrenching and romantic. Great book.
Callux and Emma’s story is filled with action, fighting, rescues, and romance! Callux, a drop dead handsome muscled rogue and Emma, a cop, come together rescuing Rila, a nine year old princess. There were several chuckles with them teaching her to defend herself. The heat is hot!!! Very much enjoyed.
Hope Hart has done it again. This was so good. Callux and Emma were something else. I am glad he didn’t give up on pushing her because she finally pushed back. They went thru so much and still came out in top. I am so looking forward to the next book I just wish it wasn’t so far away from being released.
This series continues with each of the women finding another brother and falling in Love 😻. This story has tons of action, intense situations, nasty Griviths (?) and fantastic characters 😉. Thanks again Hope, I'm truly enjoying this series and will keep reading 🤓.
FANTASTIC!!! Hope has outdone herself on this book in the series! I absolutely loved Callux and Emma's story!! The action, adventure and romance were non-stop from the beginning. Every line in the book kept me glued to the story!! Little Rila was just adorable and the icing on the cake!
The character Emma has a brutal backstory which causes her to be an excellent agent. She gets sent to prevent and save a nine year old female from kidnappers and runs into yet another brother of her scary boss.
I really enjoy this series. You keep getting snippets and pieces of info to figure out Malakaz's next move or motive. He is definitely the puppet master. Looking forward to Blaire and Draz's adventure.
I stopped reading the minute you killed out Runix…one of the nice guys off his crew and you just killed in off…Shame on you I read to enjoy my down time not to get pissed off I get that at work …will never read another book of yours
This series is great! The characters ate so believable, so engaging! This book had some very tearful moments. As well as horrific moments. But it was hard to put down at any rate. Very good read!
A womanizing space pirate, a former police office and a teenage princess. From the frying pan to the fire, the relationship between Callux and Emma is spicy hot. Add in royal dramatics, vicious betrayals and unexpected revelations and you have a dangerous, rescue drama to keep you entertained.
This story is about saving a little girl and running for there lives. There are numerous ups and downs and some teaching a child how to protect herself. The characters are likable and the story was interesting with lots of action.
I really loved this book! I was waiting ages for it to come out and read it in a night!! I laughed I cried. It was wonderful! I can't wait for the next one!
