I wish I would have known that this series was a spinoff of another series. There were so many things referenced from previous books and I was confused while trying to put the pieces together. I think people should definitely be familiar with the previous books before reading this one to avoid questions.
The beginning of this is choppy and didn't make much sense to me. There's a quick scene where the main female character Kyla is almost killed but for unknown reasons is temporarily spared and then six months later when she's left by her lover Patrick. I'm not sure if some of this is addressed in previous books or not, but I wish we'd been given more information.
The rest of the story was okay but nothing special. I wanted more of the mafia aspects, but it was barely there since Patrick has somewhat separated himself from that life. I also couldn't believe that Kyla had no self defense training despite almost being murdered. Why wouldn't she take classes, get a weapon, have security, something?? Her father and brother didn't help with that situation and were pretty infuriating. I disliked both of those characters and how they babied Kyla.
Patrick has the mentality of "I can't be with you because I'm not good for you" which I hate. Why can't Kyla make that decision? And if Patrick really feels that way, he should stop toying with her heart and making her cry. Make a choice guy!
This just wasn't for me and I won't be continuing the series. Hopefully fans of the other books will enjoy this still.

I have no problems with cliffhanger endings but this book was also 300+ pages of slow story building. Kyla is the little sister of Patricks’s best friend Logan. Having hidden their affair for years, Ky and Patty are suddenly faced with the decision of going public and fighting for each other or succumbing to circumstance. I’m sure you can guess how this is going to turn out. Looking forward to the next story in this saga.

The first book in a new series by Kristen Luciani, Corrupted Crown is a dark mafia arranged marriage romance that is well written. There's mayhem, murder, danger, kidnapping, suspense, action, angst, undeniable chemistry, and twists that will have you clinging to every word from beginning to end.

Patrick and Kyla have had an on again, off again secret relationship for years. Kyla wrote him off when he disappeared on her after her mother's murder and memorial service. Things get complicated when Kyla now finds herself in danger and Patrick, the enforcer, is assigned to protect her.
Kristen writes amazing mafia stories, and this one doesn't disappoint! There is plenty of action, push and pull between Patrick and Kyla with steamy, hot scenes, and an unexpected marriage contract.
This book is a nice combination of forbidden lovers, enemies/friends to lovers and arranged marriage, with some character appearances from previous books. Book one does end on a cliffhanger, so bring on Vicious Vows!

I might have found another mafia romance author to read. This is the first book I've read by the author and it will not be my last. It's only the first book of the trilogy and I can't wait for the continuation of Patty and Kyla's story. But I'm already sure that I'm going to enjoyed and loved it as much as this first book.

The blurb didn't match the story. He states she has a black heart and that she is vicious, but she's really not. She gives her heart freely to him time and time again. It's him that keeps stringing her along. We even learned that while he was sleeping with her, he "continued to take other women home," so her brother wouldn't suspect anything. I'm sorry, but no. She claims to be strong and independent; there is no way she would allow that to happen. Heck to the no; it's like, "Girl,"respect yourself a little more. You are valuable."
I couldn't help but get frustrated at her for turning into putty whenever he comes back.
The book is pretty much two people who refuse to communicate. Mostly him.

Kristen has done it again with another gut wrenching dark mafia romance, and the start of a new enticing series! Grasping my attention right from the beginning, letting me know this was going to be one hell of a ride, keeping me glued to the pages until the end (or at least the cliffhanger). Her plot was exciting and filled with so much passion and steam, taking my breath away, leaving me anxious for the next page.
“Every time I told her to forget about me, I secretly hoped she wouldn’t. Because I could never have forgotten her.”
Kyla was such a feisty, independent character, wanting to make a name for herself without her father’s name or help. Her sass and quick comebacks allows her to gain respect from her peers, as well as her determination to succeed. She’s one heck of a business woman because of her brain, but her take charge attitude works in her favor, also.
“Once this is all over, we can just go our separate ways and be done with it all. “Except, it never will really be over, will it?”
Patrick is such an obsessive, possessive heart throb of a man. His determination to protect Kyla shows right from the start while also proving just how much he cares for her. He’s the quiet type until he’s pushed too far, then all bets are off. His willingness to go above and beyond just to make sure Kyla is safe, even if she doesn’t see or appreciate, is the most loving gesture from his heart.

The intensity of their nuclear connection is sizzling with fire and exploding with libidinous electricity. Their aggressiveness with one another mixed with their sexual banter, leaves you gasping for air as if you’re in the moment with them. The chemistry between these two characters was evident right from the beginning, lasting to the very end. Their love hate relationship tested every boundary, fighting against all odds to make whatever relationship they have work. Cannot wait for the next installment to find out what happens next and enjoy some lust filled scenes of passion!!

Kyla and Patrick love story is a interesting one. Kyla opening chapter WOW we dive into a action scene and my heart broke and scream WHO DO YOU BELONG TO!? no spoilers on the who and its your turn to solve it!
Patrick you know straight away he loves her and she is his best friend's sister. He is watching over her while she slept and she survived the attack 6 months ago. Patrick is part of a notorious mob family and he is looking into who was behind the attack!
These two are like strong HOT steamy magnets oh boy my fingers burned🥵 I love their banter so much and they just make me smile. Especially when she said he will look like a lobster with the sun and I straight away I thought of Phoebe "he's her lobster 🦞 " I will admit I did want to bang their heads together.
We have action scenes that show you, you do not mess with the Irish mob. The suspense is tense especially when...no spoilers and when...yes no spoliers
CLIFFHANGER alert ahhh !! I have so many questions !
Is he alive? Who the evil eyes? Is it truely over between the love birds?
I really hope not because the proposal scene was sooo romantic and the story about his mam...I hope its not over and we need to see if....no spoiler !!

What a rollercoaster ride! This picks up after the hellfire that Connor had tried to reign down on their sister Heaven in Savage Sinner.
Things have gotten out of their fathers control due to his ill health and next in line to lead the Mulligan mob is Niall. But he’s a cardboard cut out of Connor and has been running on betrayal and deception.
Patrick is gorgeous with a panty-melting smile. He’s the face of the Mulligan family. He’s modelled, opened an ‘in place’ nightclub, has beautiful women decorating his arm. But that’s the public perception. What happens behind the scenes is totally different. He’s the family fixer and enforcer, and he’s damn good at his job.
But there’s only one woman that Patty has ever loved, and that’s his best friends little sister. He and Logan have run around together for years.
Kyla was his stunning younger sister that put the moves on him but he would never refuse anything from her, consequences be dammed. He was crazy about her, and they both fell deeper each time.

You won’t want to put this book down once you start it. You are immediately pulled into the story of Kyla and Patrick. These two have a lot going on.
Patrick is the best friend of Kyla’s brother, Logan. He’s in the mafia and isn’t someone you want to cross. After a one night stand he disappeared on Kyla. He’s her brothers best friend and doesn’t feel that he’s good enough for her with his criminal ties.
Kyla is understandably angry that he ghosted her. So she’s not happy that he’s back in her life and her father has tasked Patrick with protecting Kyla from the man who murdered her mother.
Best friends brother, mafia, sorta second chance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity.
Medium burn, they give into their attraction at 44%. No condoms, no virgins, no manwhore, push away from h, bit of push away from H too, no OW drama, tiny OM drama to showcase his jealousy, the book ends with them separated. This is a trilogy, no massive cliffhanger but there’s definitely more story to tell. Second book comes out 10/7/21.

Patty Ky.stress me out. They are both very smart and VERY STUBBORN. You can see that they really love one another. They have many obstacles in their way along with many enemies. They would be so much stronger working together than trying to deal with their families enemies alone. Can’t wait to see what unfolds in the second book.

He just wanted to have a few days away from the family and the problems of being the fixer of the family, but his plans are blown up when he finds out that his best friend’s little sister will also be at the grand opening that he is attending. Of course, why wouldn’t she be, her family is opening a new hotel on a secluded island.
It wouldn’t be so bad if he weren’t intent on staying away from her. He’s walked away from her more than once and the last time he stayed away for almost two years, but the draw between them is electric and even though she hates him, Patrick Mulligan can’t deny that his feelings are deep for Kyla, and he will do anything to protect her. Which brings on more trouble for these two.
Kyla Costigan has worked hard to get where she is and has placed herself to take over for her father when he steps down, but there are threats to the family that have her being treated as though she can’t take care of herself and that have her father and her brother being overprotective and making her angry. She’s independent, smart, and driven.
This was a great story with great characters. I’ve loved Patrick since I first met him in his sister’s story, Savage Ruler. Patrick is the fixer of the family and the man that everyone seems to turn to for help when things turn sideways. His position in the family is changing and he is not ready for it, add in the fact that the woman he loves hates him, again, and his life is torture at this time. Patrick and Kyla have an explosive relationship, while most people see Patrick the model and the guy that gives so much to the YMCA, others see a model and then there are those that know the name and the family reputation of as a Mafia family. I really love Ms. Luciani’s books and the connection between the Reckless Reign, Sinfully Savage, Mafia Men of Mayhem, and the Severinov Bratva books. The characters are always great, and the stories are always full of action, suspense, sexy men and women and danger. I give this book a 5-star review and I am looking forward to the next book because I need to know how things are going to get fixed.

Kyla Costigan has worked hard to get where she is and has placed herself to take over for her father when he steps down, but there are threats to the family that have her being treated as though she can’t take care of herself and that have her father and her brother being overprotective and making her angry. She’s independent, smart, and driven.
This was a great story with great characters. I’ve loved Patrick since I first met him in his sister’s story, Savage Ruler. Patrick is the fixer of the family and the man that everyone seems to turn to for help when things turn sideways. His position in the family is changing and he is not ready for it, add in the fact that the woman he loves hates him, again, and his life is torture at this time. Patrick and Kyla have an explosive relationship, while most people see Patrick the model and the guy that gives so much to the YMCA, others see a model and then there are those that know the name and the family reputation of as a Mafia family. I really love Ms. Luciani’s books and the connection between the Reckless Reign, Sinfully Savage, Mafia Men of Mayhem, and the Severinov Bratva books. The characters are always great, and the stories are always full of action, suspense, sexy men and women and danger. I give this book a 5-star review and I am looking forward to the next book because I need to know how things are going to get fixed.

This is going to be another great series by Kristen Luciani! I was so into this book that I did not put it down until I finished it right before midnight. This is the story of Patrick (Patty) and Kyla. Patty is a “fixer” for his family (Irish mafia). On the outside everyone sees a great guy who is trying to do good things for the community and keep his family in a good light after his older brother Conner went against his own family, But on the inside, he can be dark, dangerous and the ultimate a**hole. Kyla is a strong, independent woman who also happens to be Logan’s (Patty’s best friend) little sister. She has been through some heartache over the last couple of years after she watched her mother killed right in front of her. After this, she has always felt like she could have done more. So, she threw herself into her work so she could take back control. Patty and Kyla have been in love with each other since they were younger, but have always hid it from everyone else because she’s a good girl and he’s the bad boy. They have crossed many boundaries and, in the end, Patty walked away because he knew what was best for Kyla.

Good Book
I have to say the blurb didn’t really match the reality of who Kyla is, the blurb read she has a black heart and he can’t say her name without his mouth twisting like he tasted poison.
However when we actually meet them both they are in love with each other and Patrick broke her heart when he left her without any contact for 18 months.
He is her brother Logan’s best friend and knew he shouldn’t have slept with Kyla but they are drawn to each other and neither will admit how much they actually do love each other.
He is Irish mafia and that is the reason he left because he knows his life brings danger and that enemies go after loved ones all the time and he loves her enough to not let her be in danger because of him. He also failed to kill the man who hurt her the most and he hates that he wasn’t successful but has lied to her by not admitting someone ratted him out to the police and he was arrested before Patrick could get to him, so even though he loves her he has to let her go.
That doesn’t work out though as her own father brought a psycho in to his business dealings who now wants Kyla and will stop at nothing to get her and Patrick has prevented her rape and saved her life twice so far in this book due to Massey sending people after Kyla.
The meeting in Molly’s was funny when Quinn spouted off I really do like him so far but Niall isn’t going to let this go without a fight.
How did any of them think she would be happy with that when control is the one thing she needs after that tragedy.

You guys!!!!!! Oh my! I loved Patrick since we met him in Savage Ruler and I was so excited when I heard patrick was getting not only one book, but 3!!!! Corrupted Crown 👑 is the first book in Patrick and Kyla’s story in the Reckless Reign series!

Little did everyone know, her father put her in danger from his own contacts. This hate is perhaps why their feelings and $ex are so damn 🥵 🔥. I love that they also have the best friends sibling thing going on, but man I felt so bad for Patrick when Logan found out about them. It really seemed like everyone kept shitting 💩 on Patrick the whole time. I can’t wait for the next books so Patrick can come back at everyone that doubts him, and show them who really was the deserving son in the Mulligan Mafia Family. I found this to be an enjoyable read. I loved that it was a spin-off of the Sinfully Savage series. I think that Patty was underrated in the previous books so I’m glad to have gotten more of him. I didn’t however feel the same connection with the characters in this book. I know that sometimes the first book of a series can seem slow for me so I am nevertheless excited to see how it all unfolds in the book.

WOW!!! What a start to Reckless Reign Trilogy
Corrupted Crown is the first book in the Reckless Reign Trilogy which is all about Kyla Costigan and Patrick "Patty" Mulligan. Their story plays out over years with on and offs and love and hate. This book pulls you in from the beginning and then leaves you hanging at the end. Be warned that this book ends with a cliffhanger that leads into the next book in the series. Patrick and Kyla are both interesting characters and are well written. I live that the story is told from both their POVs, so you get to learn more about what is going on in their heads. Things are complicated between them but deep down they do care for and love each other. But one of those complications is Logan, on of Kyla's brothers and Patty best friend since they were kids. Then add in that both fathers have a bit of a hate relationship. Kyla being a good girl and Patrick being part of the Irish Mafia. So nothing can happen between them. But when it dies the fireworks are blinding but they do burn out quickly, only to be happen again.
I really enjoyed Corrupted Crown. The book is well written, has a story-line that is nicely woven with drama, danger, action, violence, romance, friends, family, alliances, suspense, angst and of course blazing hot chemistry. I can't wait for the next book to come out to see what happens next.

Wow, Kristen Luciani has written a new set of mafia characters to follow. Patrick and Kyla, forbidden, carnal and all the feels. Patty never should have touched his best friend's sister but Kyla never gave him a chance. Patrick is Irish mob, Kyla is the socialite business woman. When a past threat emerges and Kyla's life is in peril, who better than the Mulligans' to help keep her safe? As they together dodge physical bullets and threats, can they dodge the emotional ones that surely will kill them before any other threat will. This story is action from beginning to end with sweet, swoony moments. I love the dynamic between Patrick and Kyla and I am excited to see how this story progresses. RECEIVED THIS FREE ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW! TRIGGERS: Murder, Kidnapping, Assault, Sexual Assault. I am surprised by this book. I don't normally like Mafia romances but this one was so good. The only problem is that by the time it was really starting to hit that climax… BOOM! CLIFFHANGER. UGH! That's the worst and that next book doesn't come out until October. Are you kidding me? So about the book. It was very well written. The main characters are in love with each other and have been for years but he believes, because of his family and his business, that he's no good for her. So he continues to walk away from her. Not only that, she's his best friend's sister. When she's kidnapped, he's the one to save her and will protect her no matter what. She is a complete and utter spoiled princess, all she complains about is her business the entire time. It gets annoying. People are trying to kill her and she wants to work. 🤔🤷🏾♀️. Despite everything, her and her family pass judgment on him and his family the entire time. Then, there is the trouble his family is in, thanks to his idiot brothers. He has to be the one to clean everything up as the BTS enforcer. To solve everyone's problem, the head of the Irish Mafia (his dad) and the CEO (her dad) make a deal to save both families. MARRIAGE. END SCENE … DAMN .. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

AHHHH THERES A CLIFFHANGER!
It was getting sooooo good and then BAM! Ugh this book was so good. I’ve been following Kristen’s work for awhile now and it was nice to come back to the Mulligan family. I always enjoyed some of this family and I love that their stories had been woven into her other books and now Patty has his own story. I’ve been a big fan of Patty since book one and I’m enjoying seeing this side of him. Kyla seems like the perfect match for him. She throws it back at him, she’s got brains and is a boss in her own right. I especially love that she knows when it’s okay to lose control and that makes for some pretty steamy scenes.
Patty and Kyla’s story goes way back and it’s riddled with loss and heartbreak and now they each face danger in the form of disgruntled business partners. They still have so much to go through before we find out if they have a happy ever after. I enjoyed this book so much. I found myself taking my time with the first half of the book, so much was happening and then seemed to go everywhere but then the end felt like it came on too quickly. I was already on the edge of my seat when the cliffhanger came up and boy did that get me riled up.
This is an easy book recommendation! It’s got everything and is worth the read and I feel like the next book will be well worth the wait.

Kristen Luciani is a truly creative and talented writer. This was my first experience reading one of her books. Corrupted Crown is book one in The Reckless Reign trilogy and ends on a huge cliffhanger. This is dark, mafia romance at its most authentic.
This tells the story of Kyla Costigan and Patrick or "Patty" ( The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because this isn't a complete standalone. There were some chunks left out which would be difficult for new fans to see the picture completely. Otherwise, it was a really great adventure and time well spent. I would suggest reading her last series to see the whole story. If you love mafia romance, then this story is definitely for you.

I have to say that I'm not sure how I'm going to make it after this first book when it's just the start of the Reckless Reign Trilogy, especially since this one already tried to kill me with the brutal cliffhanger. Kyla has had a thing for her brother's best friend, Patrick, and thankfully, he felt the same so they've already set the sheets on fire but then, he became a bonehead when he decided to leave her in the dust for her own sake (can you feel my eyes rolling?!) It's been a cool minute since they saw each other when the real fun began, and frankly, I understood her anger as she's over men trying to make all the decisions for her. However, she ends up getting kidnapped, and after he rescues her, it's like they weren't even apart as those undeniable sparks are flying. Of course, there's still that danger stalking her so she ends up being in close proximity to Patrick at her father's request firing up the angst on all cylinders as well. The heat is intense, the twists are coming from all directions as he has things & she's in danger, and then the drama really gets going when her father is doing his best to protect her. As I said above, it ends on a brutal cliffy so now I'm dying inside because I hate waiting. And I'll call it quits here by HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!

This is the first book of this author that I’ve read and with this story, I kept feeling like I was missing something, it felt like I I suddenly jumped into the middle of a series, but this is book 1. I found myself confused as to what the heck was happening on some occasions and found my mind wondering on to different things as I was reading. Unfortunately it just didn’t captivate me as much as I’d have hoped.
Kyla and Patrick were good characters but during their more steamy scenes I found that there was a lot of metaphors and Kyla seemed to be in her head a lot. I found that a bit too much.

This is book one of a mafia romance series by Luciani. I really enjoyed the first book and look forward to seeing where the second installment takes Patrick (Patty) and Kyla. Kyla is a business minded, driven woman who has checked every box on her way to the top only to possibly lose it all. Patrick is a second generation mafia family member whose family is in turmoil as his aging, sickly father will soon name his successor. Patrick is best friends with Logan who is Kyla’s brother so she is supposed to be off limits. Patty, however, can’t seem to stay away from the one girl he has always longed for no matter the cost. Readers who have trigger issues and can’t read certain types of content be careful because there is violence and other things that could be problematic for those who have past trauma. Please also note this book does end on a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves mafia romance, chick lit, alpha males and strong female characters.

This is book one of a mafia romance series by Luciani. I really enjoyed the first book and look forward to seeing where the second installment takes Patrick (Patty) and Kyla. Kyla is a business minded, driven woman who has checked every box on her way to the top only to possibly lose it all. Patrick is a second generation mafia family member whose family is in turmoil as his aging, sickly father will soon name his successor. Patrick is best friends with Logan who is Kyla’s brother so she is supposed to be off limits. Patty, however, can’t seem to stay away from the one girl he has always longed for no matter the cost. Once I began this story there is no way I could stop. Kyla and Patrick set this story on fire from the start. Patrick has taken the invitation from his best friend Logan to take the weekend off and spend time at Logan's new resort. He's having a good time until he spots Logan's sister Kyla. Patrick could never get enough of Kyla and the last time they saw each other things didn't work out. Kyla can't believe that Patrick is standing in front of her. After the way, he treated her Kyla has done everything in her power to forget him. When Kyla is taken from the resort by force Patrick takes matters into his own hands to get her back. Kyla isn't looking to spend more time with Patrick after he rescues her, but her dad thinks otherwise. Patrick doesn't want anything to happen to Kyla but he also doesn't want to protect her 24/7 because of their past. As they spend more time together things get more and more complicated. Until one day Kyla is told by her father that she's to marry Patrick in order to stay safe. She doesn't want to marry Patrick by force, but she can't get out of it. Will Kyla be truly safe with Patrick or have they been doomed from the start? I received a free copy of this book from the author and reviewed it voluntarily.

Another amazing read. I would give this 20 stars, if I could!
I jumped at the chance to read this ARC, as I am already a HUGE fan of this author. Although this is a "new"series, truthfully, I consider it a continuation of her story that first started all of this: Screwing the Mob. I consider her characters to be the best in the Mafia genre, so it was great to fall in love with another couple!
I STRONGLY recommend reading the books in order, beginning with Screwing the Mob, as THIS book will definitely be better for you if you do, having all the backstories makes the read amazing.
Totally worth it...as they are some of the best mafia reads out there, in my opinion.
But- if that doesn't work for you, DEFINITELY read Savage Sinner before this one, so this book makes more sense.
(Some of those characters cross over into this one.)
I am NOT AT ALL happy that this story ends on a cliff hanger, and a big one, at that. That said, Of Course I will be waiting (im)patiently for the next one.
I highly recommend this author, as her books are well written and engaging.

Corrupted Crown is the first installment in the Reckless Reign Trilogy featuring Patrick Mulligan and Kyla Costigan, his best friend's younger sister.
Patty and Ky have a history and are, at the moment, in an enemies-to-lovers status, fighting most of the time and loving each other most of the time. This is a mafia romance about family, trust, twisted loyalties, very bad decisions, jeopardy, ominous threats to both of them, a surprise arrangement , danger, envy and Patty with his hands full trying to get his family out of the mess Connor created and Niall continued and, at the same time, protecting the woman he loves.
Let me just point out that, IMO, Patrick was the star of the book. I loved his character. Although in a difficult predicament, Patrick was always the leveled head of them all. I just have wished Kyla was more mature than what she demonstrated to be and I found mysrlf pi##ed with her a few times.
Nevertheless, a good start to a new trilogy, this time with Heaven's brother Patrick.
