In a post-truth world ... sometimes the hunted must become the hunter
The second gripping thriller in the storm breaking series featuring British Intelligence Agent Kenzie Marsh, from Amazon #1 bestselling author Roy Robson.
Time for you to die ... Time to make the world a better place
These words echo around the mind of an award-winning journalist as she drives a car into a crowd of innocent people on London Bridge.
The papers report a one-off incident perpetrated by a woman with a history of mental health problems.
Kenzie Marsh knows differently.
As the world teeters on the brink of athe coming totalitarianism of which it is blissfully unaware, Kenzie Marsh goes undercover to delve deep into a cabal of scientists and industry leaders intent on controlling the entire human race.
Those with power believe themselves to be untouchable ... but now find themselves in the eye line of an unstoppable hunter.
Roy Robson was born in southeast London, in the UK. He has worked on a market stall, as a squash coach, on a factory assembly line and as a youth support worker. He eventually trained in the dark art of computer programming and worked for many years in the City of London, designing systems to track the flow of money around the world. He will confess to this being an almost impossible task.
He presently writes two series.
The Kenzie Marsh books involve a detective who has hit rock bottom after the death of her son and the collapse of her marriage. She is recruited by British Intelligence on a secret mission where she discovers a conspiracy so shocking it threatens not only her life, but the lives of everybody she knows.
The bestselling London Large series - which he co-authors with his brother Garry - features the relentless force of nature that is DI Harry 'H' Hawkins. As the tide of criminal gangs that flood London increases, Harry will stop at nothing to protect those he loves and do everything in his power to keep his city halfway civilised.
Roy has two daughters and currently lives in Bromley with his wife.
British Agent. Kenzie goes undercover. The ones she encounters are delusional in their search for power and greed. A group that Kenzie is determined to stop by the rules or without. Exceptional good plot to enjoy Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Silent Scream, #1 - I read this book after SW but that did not take away from the story. I had read Silent Murder, the prequel, which I recommend as a must, and was expecting more in the lines of the London Large Series. While Harry is my favorite character in one of my all-time favorite series , Kensie can hold her own, so do not expect LL since it is an apples to oranges comparison. While well written and well thought out, this series is milder in the writing style. This series is still interesting, immersing and hard to put down. This book is complete but there's more to the story. No cliffhanger. 4*
Silent Whispers, #2 - I missed Silent Scream but it did not matter when reading SW. As much as starting this series from the prequel Silent Murder, instead of SM I quickly became immersed in the story. Another Robson success, which means well written and well thought out storylines with good characters and good dialogues.
What is also successful are the technical subjects, too. We are well on our way to this sick world if we cannot stop it. The technology is here. The spyware on phones have been around, on any electronics actually. Good action throughout the story. The pace picks up and does not slow down. While there is third book, this is not a cliffhanger. 4*
Silent Vengeance, #3 - The finale. Interesting. Intense. Just as with the previous books of this series the story lines, old and new, are interesting and immersing making it difficult to stop reading. The characters run the gamut from troubled to down right evil, and most of the baddies equate themselves to gods. The pagans get their stuff handed to them by Kenzie and crew. Kenzie's character has done a lot of growth throughout the series and in this book she has gone full circle. 5*
Silent Murder, Kenzie Marsh Series short - An interesting introduction to a new series from Robson already famous along with his brother Garry for the London Large Series, which are on my top five list of favorite reads. If you are expecting a female Harry, don't. The writing style is a bit milder, an apple to oranges comparison, but just as well told. this is a sad story but there is a touch of Harry in the solution. 4*
Silent Scream is the first book of the Kenzie Marsh series and has three sample chapters following Silent Murder. There was not enough for me to sink my teeth into, but I do want to read all the books. The different writing style continues so the pace is slower, and the dialog is clean. Forget Harry and enjoy a new batch of reads from Robson. Harry will be a tough act to follow but I have a feeling this series will still be an interesting ride. Will rate this book when I finish the complete novel.
Virtual Shadows - A collection of short stories that are well written, interesting, intriguing, immersing and intense. Do not expect Harry anywhere between these pages. Talented author writing a mix of genres. Source: The author, ARC. 5* Virtually Lost - Short but complete. 5* Threads - What a trip this intriguing and intense short is in just a few pages. 5* The Pledge - Another example of Beware. Words and actions don't match. 4* Chuckle Matterhorn’s Last Laugh - A warning, Beware. 4* Wonderland - A bit of Wutan influence. 4* Bits and Pieces - Short but complete. 4* The Watchers - I found this story funny in a way. 4* Virtual Shadows end.
Rogue medical scientist develops vaccine which overpowers conscience - 5 stars
A group named The Enragés spurs the development of a gene-altering vaccine that removes the ability to resist a commander's instructions. People are abducted as part of the test and development process to serve as human Guinea pigs. Innocent people are murdered. Only a pair of disgraced English police, Kenzie Marsh and Jack Slaughter, seem to notice.
The conversion after receiving the vaccine to people without a conscience has side effects: people seem lethargic and perform routine tasks as if they were in a dream. Occasionally, observers notice that the people are not themselves anymore and seem to be whispering to themselves.
Because the organization which is trying to make people into automatons has unlimited wealth, most of the "testing" can be performed on private estates. Authorities are either paid or vaccinated so that the nefarious activities are covered up. Shallow graves on private land hold many secrets.
The action jumps up several notches after Kenzie and Jack bomb a castle in an unsuccessful attempt to destroy The Enragés. Kenzie and Jack hide from both the authorities and The Enragés. From that start, it is a run-and-hide followed by breaking and entering and extreme violence, not just by humans.
Because the story involves children too young to fight, the omnipresent dread of being caught or injected lifts the level of tension and encouraged me to read faster to find out how the narrative ends. If you enjoy stories of terror, you won't be disappointed by Silent Whisper.
WOW I really enjoyed Silent Whisper book 2 in the trilogy of an exciting mind blowing thriller which was such an amazing read. The concept of this thriller took me back to the movie The Manchurian Candidate and the series of the Stepford wives and husbands too.
This was another case for DI Kenzie Marsh and DI Jack Slaughter. Kenzie has to go underground because of the torture and murder of scientist Ryan Leonard as she was trying to extract information about the life changing serum that he had manufactered.
Children were waking up to find that their own Mother or Father were not the same and that they were now alone in the world.
One man named Peter Taylor a scientist and rich businessman who from a child had an interest in science and now an adult he wants to be worshipped like a God as he wants to rule the world and have total totaliarianism.
Kenzie and Jack are up against the odds when they pursue Peter Taylor and his organisation but will they be able to bring him down before the world as we know it does not exist anymore. There are elements of horror as the experiments by Peter Taylor and his organisation come to fruitition.
I loved the way Roy describes the history of the places and the elements it makes the novel so realistic.
I hope that one day all of The Kenzie Marsh Chronicles are made into a series.
This book will leave you breathless. As she delves further into the evil Big Tech plot to take over the world the action and danger in Kenzie Marsh's world just never stops. As she and her old partner Jack follow the clues across the British Isles, the horror and the magnitude of the plot and the lengths the perpetrators are willing to go become clearer and more terrifying as Kenzie faces everything from knife-wielding zombie kids to super bears. Silent Whisper is the middle story of an intended trilogy that both terrified and mesmerized me. Kenzie and Jack are strong, engaging characters you can't help but like, even when they're being unprincipled and violent and completely bereft of the moral structure they've known all their lives. The villains are profoundly disturbing in their singular focus on the future they're headed toward, and the heroes are only slightly less so in their determination to stop them. Silent Whisper isn't a light read but it was one I just couldn't put down. If you love world domination plots and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat I highly recommend this one.
Silent Whispers is a very interesting reading, it reminded me of the movie 2001 a Space Odyssey where artificial intelligence takes hold of minds and the workings of our world. Kenzie Marsh is trying to uncover the institution or people who are doing it but she gets really surprised with what she finds out. The saying "nothing is as it seems" is totally applicable in this story. There are so many twists and turns and action that is impossible not to start reading and only leave the book when you finish it! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series to learn how this saga will end. I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Wow, wow and wow again. I love this book and the ending was left so open for the next one - I really need the next one now. This really carried on the storyline from book 1 Silent Scream and I loved this. The characters of Kenzie and Jack are great as previously, a little upsetting this time though - no spoilers from me. As violent as expected in the usual way. I love the way Roy writes and his books really keep me interested and up all night! Just wish I had read this quicker but work called. Best book I've read this year so far. Bring on the next one please.
Not for me, as much as I had read other Roy Robson books and enjoyed them I struggled with this one. The storyline of a "big brother" organisation drugging people and controlling their mins and behaviour was a bit too far fetched for me. Kenzie and Jack are creditable characters however and the story line is well constructed. However it just did not appeal to me. I assume the ending also leaves the potential for other Kenzie stories
This story is a wild ride, made even more incredible by the thought that this scenario could really happen. Kenzie is on her own fighting something so evil it defies words. I do not want to give any spoilers, just know this is full of action and will keep you up all night to finish it. I cannot wait for the next to see what happens.
Kenzie Marsh is an excellent character with a wonderful story that unfolds throughout Silent Whisper. Roy Robson has done many things in his lifetime, I am really happy he decided to write.
Kenzie Marsh and Jack Slaughter are working against the tide to stop Peter Taylor from taking over the world with a new brain serum. But can they take him down since he appears to control everything
