The final chapter in the "Four Square Miles" series. This one wraps up the various threads in the story so far nicely. Giving details could be spoilers for those who have not yet read the first three books.
Leo is reaching peak levels of his violent psychopath behaviour and could be a serious threat to Nutsy, his family and his dreams. Nutsy's dream project might get approved by city council but there are still obstacles on the way, mainly put there by his adversaries.
To what extent will Nutsy go to protect his family and realise his project? Will he even succeed in one or both?
A well written series. Recommended.

Fascinating insights into the New York sports gambling scene

This review applies to the four books in the series 'Four Square Miles', culminating in 'The Final Project'. Because the plot is cleverly paced to deliver a masterly dénouement in the closing pages I see little point in reviewing each part of the series separately.
The plot is relentless in engaging the reader's interest and maintains a lively pace. It focuses on the sports gambling business of the protagonist Nutsy, his close partner Ladro and their local bookie associates.
Readers are treated to a fascinating exposé of the criminal underbelly of the network of local bookies in New York; a realistic portrayal of how big money manipulates the sports betting business and sustains Nutsy as he forges towards his dream of an historic park.
The most endearing aspect of the book is the poignant and compassionate portrayal of Nutsy as he sustains a loving bond with his wife Kathy, daughter Sammy, son N.J. et al. His acts of kindness and generosity have won him widespread respect from the wider N.Y. establishment, and from any reader I suspect.
The four series novel closely equates with the hero's journey which is cleverly presented as a story of pride, love, family and a dream as pre-empted by the writer. Readers are
rewarded with a fulfilling range of colloquial and representative dialogue which creates a lasting insight into the gambling scene, which is alive everywhere including the Four Square Miles.

Last of the series, but I didn’t want it to end. Why on earth a TV network doesn’t pick this one up is beyond me. It has drama, comedy, and romance, and endless storylines. As thankful as I was for this one to not end on a cliffhanger, I wanted more.
