In 2020, 15% of the world's population experienced some form of disability. The world and individuals often have cognitive biases toward this population of people. The chances of you interacting or being related to someone with a disability is 1 in 26. This book will challenge those biases, share the similarities and differences among those individuals and the rest of the population, promote inclusion and acceptance, and inspire the reader to be a better person to everyone, no matter the person’s abilities. When you finish this book, or even a section, will have a better understanding of what it is like to walk in the shoes of a child or family with special needs, gain an appreciation for the times they were told “can’t” by a person’s actions and words, and be inspired by the obstacles each of these individuals and families have overcome. If you read this book with an open heart and mind, you too will be taught by those who were told they “can’t.” A portion of the proceeds from each book sold will be used to provide services to families who are currently going through special education in the public school system.
