My life was anything but ordinary. Being wrapped in taboo secrecy meant being lonely, even in a crowded room.

That was my world. Until I met him. He swooped in, knocking everything I knew off its axis and rearranging things in the most charmed fashion.

But I’ve come to realize that even a dramatic shift in scenery doesn’t change the people around me. It only alters their methods of scrutiny and has the power to open me up to bigger, more startling realities.

However, I guess it’s a good thing that my knight in shining armor plucked me from my tower. Had he not, I may not have known the ugliness of his world. But I also would never have learned what it felt like when my soul caught fire.

“Maybe, just maybe, I thought. If I let him back in, this time we’d free-fall together? And perhaps land safely, instead of broken.”

SHOWCASE is a beautifully-written book with darker themes.

First off, let’s get the disclaimers out of the way: not sure if this would be classified as dark romance since I don’t typically read that subgenre, but to me, it definitely felt dark, so please do heed the author’s trigger warnings.

P. Roper is an excellent writer—I was pulled in by her easy and incredibly descriptive way with words. Her heroine Deliah is strong, with what could probably be the most sexual agency I’ve ever read in a character before. Nathaniel, a billionaire to whom money is of course no object, is quite swoon-worthy, and the chemistry between the two is off the charts. SHOWCASE also has a bit of suspense and intrigue to round it off, all of it masterful and well-executed.

I find it hard to believe that this is P. Roper’s debut and am excited to see what she writes next.

***SPOILERS***
There is a dub-con sharing scene. Some readers might find the way it comes about hard to forgive, but there is a measure of redemption for Nathaniel by the end of the story.

In my opinion, Showcase is a very original story. It follows Delilah, a girl who lost her parents too early in life, and has been on her own for a cool minute. She's finally found a job that pays her well so she can get out of debt, but it's not exactly an easy one since there are some creeps out there. However, there's a man who really wants her so he talks her into running away with him and man are they SUPER HOT HOT HOT together, but I have to say that she definitely steps out in faith with her life decisions as I'm not sure I would do the same thing no matter how good the decisions may or may not be. Just as things couldn't get any better, there's danger in the shadows stalking her & that danger will stop at nothing to get her. Showcase was a read that I devoured in one sitting, and if you want to get the 411 on all of it, you know what to do! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was curious about the title of this story. Once I realised the meaning I was mentally applauding the author.

Delilah is a really lovely character. On her own in the world her strength shines through. I’m wary about saying more as I don’t want to spoil it for you.. however I recommend this read as it’s so so good.

A few twists had my head in a tizzy.

Can’t wait to read Noelle’s story.

When this book was sent to me, I didn’t know anything about it, other than that the cover of the book was absolutely beautiful. I dove right in and found myself unable to put it down and was shocked to find out this is the author’s debut book, because you’d never know that by reading it. I loved the plot - the story of Deliah’s life as a showcase, it was different. I’ve never read a book quite like this. Deliah didn’t have an easy life and I loved the fight and the confidence she had in herself. Nathaniel is a man who knows what he wants and pulls out all the stops to get it, while staying humble. I also love the relationship she builds with his sister Noelle. Without giving too much away, I will say this. I was really enjoying where the book was going with Deliah and Nathaniel’s love story, but then a twist was thrown in, by the name of N, and OMG, I didn’t think the book could get better, but P. Roper managed to do just that!! I can’t wait to read more from this author, particularly Noelle’s story. Showcase has life struggles, love, suspense, and so much more!! I highly recommend this book. I promise you will not be disappointed. Happy reading!!

Having come across this book by chance during my search for new books to read, I didn't expect to become so utterly smitten with this one.
I found myself drawn in by the story and wishing I could have the confidence and grace of it's protagonist Dee when facing such daunting situations and god knows we all wish for a Nathaniel to come in and sweep us away.
The author's writing style makes for an easy read and the titillating story had me glued to my spot until I finished it all in one sitting. I certainly recommend to anyone looking for a good read. I simply could not get enough.
I cannot wait for the author's next book to be released so I can once again immerse myself in the wonderful worlds she creates.

Finished this book in one sitting. I can’t wait for the next book, Noelle’s story. Deliah and Nathaniel’s story was amazing. Had me hooked right from the start. I really enjoyed this story. Loved having a bit of Nathaniel’s view in the end, but would have loved to have more. Their story is sweet, adorable, and very steamy. Highly recommend!

Wow! I started reading the debut book from P. Roper and I am blown away by the magic she created! How is this her first foray as an author?!

From the time I picked up the book I was immersed in a rich, colorful, detailed narrative that gripped me in the best possible way. Smoothly this story moves through an intriguing scenario/showcase that I had no idea could even exist, yet totally believe that it does somewhere in the world that we live. How could not not the way P. has described it?!

Dee, or Delilah, is a warm, lovely, adventurous orphan that drives this story. The choices she makes, the way she handles herself, her confidence and belief in herself are all so real! I found myself so wrapped in her story that I didn't even notice my guy get in the car and start to drive!!

Nathaniel is the guy every woman longs for growing up. But his human side, his darker side, his faults, only make him more real and (to me) more believable than some of the other characters out there.

Showcase will not disappoint you when you pick it up! But in all honesty, heed the authors warning about darker themes. There is a chapter that is a little darker than most. But it has to be said that it would not have been the same story without it!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

P. Roper is a new to me author, and my interest is definitely piqued!!!

Is Deliah making the right choices? Maybe, maybe not! Along her path there are some really hawt scenes.

Intrigue for darn sure!

Dark themes, so care is definitely needed. Heed the warnings.

Want a really intense, entertaining read, this might just heat up the pages of your reader!

P. Roper writes a gripping and unique book that follows the life of Delilah, Dee, and the choices that she has made to get by. The writer does have you sitting on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. The twist and turns will have you riding an emotional rollercoaster but it is worth it. For a debut novel, she does a fantastic job as it is well written and intriguing.

Delilah starts a job as a showcase girl which has her wearing a mask, little to nothing clothes and being presented or displayed in a "cage" like case. She is paid well and enjoys the money but at times she is could be in danger. Along comes Nate and he is extremely handsome and wealthy. He offers her an outrageous amount of money to be with him for a year. The contract they sign has nothing illegal in it as she is at his mercy for the year. She will do as he says with no questions asked. As time passes a man from the showcase club, appears and this scares Dee as the last time she saw him, he abused her body. Why is he here? How does he know Nate? Will she be able to get away from him? Will he ever leave her alone? How will Nate react to the uneasiness that Dee feels with this person around?

Nate seems to be the perfect man that you would want as a partner in life. He treats Dee like a queen and puts her on a pedestal. He is wealthy but does not flaunt it. He lives with his sister, Noelle, because she does not want to live with their parents. His relationship with his sister is strong and he loves her. Noelle and Dee form a bond that is also strong. Will one interaction with someone that Dee never thought that she would see again, ruin everything that Nate had ever wanted?

As time passes things progress and they seem to be in love however a situation happens, with Nate, that leaves Dee heartbroken? Will they be able to get over what happened when the truth comes out? Can Dee get past the betrayal?

This story is unlike any story that I have read. The chemistry between Nate and Delilah is beautiful. There is a trigger warning at the beginning and please take it to heart. I did thoroughly enjoy this book however, I did skim over the trigger warning part. I would still recommend adding this book to your TBR list.

I didn’t know what I was in for when I picked up this book.
Let’s start with the cover, absolutely gorgeous.
Main female character, Deliah or Dee, she’s a fighter. Not like an actual fighter but someone who works hard for what they want. Her job may be unconventional but she loves it and it works for her.
Main Male character, Nathaniel. Oh man how I love him. He came in saw what he wanted and made it happen.
The plot and storyline are what pulled me in. It’s not something everyone writes about and I like that.
Medium to high steam rating.
It’s a great book especially for this being her first novel.
Read it.

I went into this book not knowing anything about it. Just knowing it was the one book by this author I hadn’t read yet. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is actually the prequel to the Louisburg Girls trilogy following Noelle’s brother, Nate! I always really like Nate throughout the other series so it was very interesting to see his story!

I was also surprised by how dark this book was. The Louisburg Girls trilogy is definitely a sweet time for the most part. There are a few heavier subjects talked about but I don’t think it is outside of the norm of what people could experience in real life. However, Showcase delves into a much darker world. As someone who often reads darker books, I loved this but I can see some people not enjoying the content. Just know going in that there is some dubious consent through the book.

I just wish this would have had more chapters from Nate’s perspective, especially around the middle of the book. We follow the main female character, Delilah, for the majority of the book and I really liked her character and seeing the world she lived in at the beginning though her eyes. There were just a few questionable parts of the book that it would have been interesting to see through Nate’s point of view.

I really enjoyed this book and having already read all the other books, that epilogue scene was everything!

Delilah has not had an east life losing her parents at a young age, but she is living a lonely life, even with a job which pays well, and she can settle her debts. When she meets her knight in shining armour, life changes in the blink of an eye. Nate convinces Delilah to run away with him, and the chemistry between them is combustible and undeniable. When danger come calling, and Delilah is kidnapped, Nate will do whatever he must to rescue her and keep her safe. This is a well written original story which is filled with danger, suspense, love, and is a steamy and all-consuming and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend her work.

“Welcome to the beginning of the most interesting year of your life, Miss Woods.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Oh boy, was it ever interesting.
I picked this book up based of a quote on TikTok.
And I’m glad I did.

“I couldn’t go save my girl in f**king crocs”
Might be my new favourite line.

Delilah has done everything she could to survive her life alone, and she has no problems with how it’s turned out. But when Nate offers her the world for a year. How could she say no?

I wouldn’t say this is dark romance but some aspects of it lean into dark romance, so check triggers before picking it up.
