He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. And he's watching you tonight . . .
When a distraught husband hires PI Chelsey Byrd to help him find his missing wife, Harmony, Chelsey realizes there's more to this case than meets the eye. Working with Sheriff Thomas Shepherd, Chelsey seeks the truth of what happened to Harmony four years ago.
After a series of mysterious disappearances, Thomas and Chelsey fear the worst: a killer is stalking the shadows of Nightshade County and preying on the innocent.
After the FBI arrives, the case garners national attention. But this only infuriates the killer. And now the madman sets his sights on Thomas and his friends.
Can Thomas and Chelsey stop the killer before he takes one of their own?
This wasn’t awful but it doesn’t deserve its current super high rating imo so I docked a star. If it wasn’t for the gruesome murders I’d think this was a young adult book. The crime solving group is getting more and more scooby do-ish. My specific gripes below. Don’t scroll if you don’t like spoilers.
FBI comes to help in case but the Sheriff decides on his own to go on TV and incite the killer to go after him then is upset the killer threatens his friends. Then he tells his friends to leave town but they convince him they’ll all be safe at the state park. THEN they go out in the middle of the night to fly a drone! (I’m assuming the drone had night vision.) I felt a little guilty for not liking the handicapped character but not anymore. It’s gotten to where I don’t like any of the characters. Constantly bringing civilians in on serial killer cases doesn’t seem like good police procedure. Oh well. It was a quick read & the killer was interesting.
Well Dan Padavona delivered another good one. You know who the killer is pretty quickly, but that is okay, what was good about this one is who or what is the killer going to do next? I was kept on the edge of my seat turning the pages. The big mystery is what did a pillar of the community do to the killer? There is struggles for one person I did not expect to see. What I love about the Wolf Lake Series is watching how each character is growing one way or another. All the relationships are growing and becoming stronger. Dan Padavona gives you mystery, struggles, suspense and death. In my opinion Dan Padavona did not disappoint. I have read the Wolf Lake Series from the start and love the separate journeys all the characters are taking. I love the family they have created. In my opinion Dan Padavona does a great job of portraying each characters growth. I love this series! You can read The Shadow Cell as standalone, but I highly recommend reading the complete series in order. If you like mystery, suspense and great characters you can't go wrong. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.
I've read all of the books in this series and I am always amazed by how well the author manages to flesh out the different villains you encounter throughout the series. Each book begins where the last left off and you're introduced to a new string of crimes, although this isn't the first book in the series where a series of seemingly unrelated events all tie together perfectly to create a story of suspenseful twist and turns, I was extremely impressed by how well this addition managed to weave together many different crimes and cases into one cohesive story and character. Like, anyone who reads this type of work, I love the suspense and thrills that this series offers, but what has kept me coming back is getting to know these characters so well and seeing their arc from one book to the next. As usual, I really enjoyed the entry in the series and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
A shock confession to a local priest with his own dark secrets, a grisly 'present' from the anonymous petitioner and the kidnap in broad daylight of a young boy, sets both local police and the FBI on a race against time to save the child's life.
Meanwhile LeVar, Scout and Raven are trying to catch a local Peeping Tom - is it the same man? Things escalate and somebody's going to pay a terrible price for disrespecting the killer...but who?
Dan Padavona knows exactly how to put an icy tingle of terror down your spine and the tension mounts to screaming point as the novel reaches a zenith of horror as the body-count rises exponentially.
Highly recommended for fans of Stephen King and Willow Rose and other intelligent psychological thrillers...get your copy of The Shadow Cell...if you dare!
Dan has delivered yet again! He has created a story for this series that is tight and very gripping. His characters have developed into great individuals with some more intrigue and mystery. The villain in this story is one you will not want to know or read that this person could really exist. He also shows that some villains came come in many forms. Some background stories come to the top and some even come to an end. Some new stories start and some old stories really explain a lot about why they are the character they are.
I would have to rank this in the "TOP 5" of the 50 or so books I have read this year.
dan padavona does it again! the shadow cell was so thrilling, and i was trying to piece it together before the killer was identified. i was not successful haha.
a woman goes missing 4 years ago without any leads, and her husband hires PI chelsey to investigate. throughout the investigation, the gang connects her disappearance with a local ghost legend who peeps through windows. this ghost has never been seen, so their identity is unknown. the killer starts to spiral and escalate after dropping off a severed hand in the confession chamber with father fowler, ending with 3 kidnappings and a few murders.
i was on the edge of my seat through this whole book, and could not put it down!

A regional “ghost”/Peeping Tom bedevils a small enclave in Wolf Lake County; Chelsey and company are retained to investigate a four-year-old missing persons case gone cold; Deputy Aguilar wrestles with post-shooting demons.
The FBI makes an appearance, based on research into multi-state disappearances centering, oddly, around Wolf Lake, and to assist in a child abduction by an invisible unknown subject - possibly related to the FBI’s current focus of inquiry.
In the 6th installment of the Wolf Lake Thriller Series, the amateur detective agency are trying to solve the case of the Poplar Cove Ghost while Thomas and his department are tracking yet another killer. As the investigations get more in depth they all begin to think they might be looking for the same person. Lots of great detective work and a couple of new characters are introduced in this book. I really do love these characters! Highly recommend.
This is another thriller by Dan Padavona. He nails it every time. Sheriff Thomas Shepherd has another mystery on his hand. First a severed hand is found at the church. While he is trying to solve that his girlfriend Chelsey is investigating a woman who has been missing for 4 years. There are reports of a ghost/peeping tom also running loose. Can the sheriff's department and the team of sleuths find out what is going on before more people disappear.
This was a wicked, intense, and complex story that you certainly won't want to miss. There are a lot of things going on within the county, but are they all related or just a coincidence? It's up to the Sheriff's office, Wolf Lake Consultants, and the group of amateur sleuths to figure it out. It's going to be an interesting case! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Each book in this series gets more and more involved. The cases get more twisted and more complex. Trying to keep the characters straight, like who is moving in with who or what animal belongs to which family in which house, is a bit of a challenge but I 'll work through that.
OMG. This is more than a five star thriller. This is so exciting I could not put this book down. I had to finish it before I could go to bed. I can't wait till no.7 comes out. I highly recommend this book and this series. For all thriller lovers this is the book to read.
Another good story. I know Scout has a long road ahead to become a great profiler, but she can do it. And she has the friends to help. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Only a month or so away. Such an exciting spellbinding book. Each one carry's the story line further and further. So happy the cat and dog gets along great.
I only had one problem with this book and that is the complexity of the language Lonnie, a four year old boy retained. Anyone with children know four year olds could not converse with such adult level sentences and words, or know to hold water in his mouth and let a little go at a time. Other than that, the plot was great!
I could not put the books down. I am not an avid reader but once I started reading your books I could not stop until I finished the book and couldn't wait to start the next book. I was a slow reader but I was so eager to read the next sentence that I now finish a book in a single afternoon. Dang! You are really good. And thank you .
I have to say so far the Wolf Lake Series has me hooked. The Shallow Cell was outstanding!! I gave it 5 ***** Stars!!! It was definitely thrilling!! I can literally say that I feel like I know all the characters especially Thomas. He is the Sheriff. The series has 10 books and I am for sure going to read all of them.
I do enjoy these characters and the stories they are involved in. I take exception with the circumstances surrounding Aguilar’s abduction and rescue. Had to go back and re-read to make sure I hadn’t slept through the events. I will be reading the next installment in the series, they truly are great reads.
Chelsea Byrd takes an unusual missing person case. The Scooby Crew decides to track down the local Ghost who may be a pervert or a killer. Someone leaves a severed hand in the confessional and taunts the Nightshade police and the FBI. A boy is taken from his bedroom and the gang rush to find him and their missing Detective. Thrills a minute read!

Thrill and chills a lot going. Serial killers on killing sprees, FBI, State Troopers, local sherriffs office racing against the clock to save a missing child. Then one of their own, Will they be sble to save the boy, and one of their own deputies. Only time will tell.
I have read the 5 Wolf Lake Thriller books and find this one to be the best so far.I think it is because the characters have matured over time and they are even more closely bonded. The plot was clever and allowed the sleuths greater creativity in figuring things out. I am ready for Book 7!
Another wonderfully written book. Of you are looking for a book that draws you in and keeps you burning through the pages, than the Wolf Lake Series is for you. I CAN NOT wait until the next book comes out.
This is the best on in the series yet! I love these books, and each one gets better and better. Fantastic series that satisfies the need for a good book, a thrilling crime, and a good ending.
This series has great characters. I have really enjoyed watching their relationships develop over the first six books. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
OK so we meet Bell and for the first time we all know who the killer is I am not spoiling it as you will see.The way Dan is moving his characters along is wonderful Who gets married first?? May be the next book
Well got up early this morning and listened to the entire book. I enjoyed it as always and I'm ready to start the next book in this series . Please read and enjoy.. Dan Padavona is an excellent writer !
I like the casts of the book Thomas It is a surprisingly gentleman Chelsea is a determined young lady And they both fit together very well Is an amazing young woman a woman that holds everything together
Every page brought you to height levels of thrills and suspense
What a great book, you don’t know who done it, but the pages keep flipping to more great action and suspense. You don’t want to miss this book in the series.
I am just finishing book 6 and I have not been able to put them down since I started reading them. I love that the characters have remained the same and have grown in there daily lives. I would totally recommend reading this series.
