Connor Davis After a beating that almost killed me, I’m one failed fitness test away from losing my FBI career. I should be focused on grinding out the reps to rebuild my broken body. Not on the pretty brunette at the gym. Sparkling brown eyes, a laugh like birdsong, and curves for days. I never thought a beauty like her would notice a busted-up guy like me. But she does. And for the first time in months, I let myself relax. Smile. Want.
Isabel Lopez I nicknamed him Hercules. The tall drink of water who does epic workouts while I slog it out on the treadmill. No way he’d notice an overworked mom of a seventeen-year-old. But he does. We’re barely past coffee dates and kisses when my daughter digs too deep for a school newspaper article. Suddenly that bubble of protection I’ve built is shattered—but the circle of Connor’s muscular arms is big enough for us both.
But will he be strong enough when danger tries to silence us all—permanently?

It's here! It's here! Rogue Survivor is here, y'all!
This book turned into something I never expected.
I knew this story was different. I knew Connor and Isabel (and Veronica) were different. But since this book felt different from the very beginning, I was really, really nervous about it. Would y'all like it? Would having a seventeen-year-old girl around ruin any chance of romance for Connor and Isabel?
And then…it didn't. Connor and Isabel surprised me in every way. Isabel got sassy. Connor got growly. And Veronica got brave. So brave. And while this wasn't the book I thought I was going to write, it's exactly the book I needed to write.
The early reviews are making me cry. So very much. I hope you'll give this book a chance. It's definitely a special one.
This was a fun romantic suspense. Great hero and heroine... and side characters.
The hero has been a badass FBI agent that has been a bit of a lone wolf and always strong enough to do anything. However, he was hurt and now he's trying to figure out how to be "strong" when his body betrays him.
The heroine was in love with her husband who died.
When the heroine's daughter gets mixed up with some dangerous people, the two work together to solve the problem. Lots of danger and all of them work well together and are smart (mostly).
They fall in love pretty quickly but it makes sense.
I love that the hero calls the daughter "Lil Bit". Their relationship is cute.
Enjoyed the dual narrators/dual POV audiobook.
I don't like/trust the mom's friend. IFKYK... how did she know when the mom was back at the house? I'm suspicious of her... but maybe it's just a plothole.
Safety deets - no other people. It's been a long time for both of them since they were last with others. Since her husband died for the heroine and we hear nothing about the hero's sexual past. - some explicit sexy times but on the lower end of "spice". - good consent.
Connor and Isabel wow what can I say? This book was filled with so many emotions, I could not put it down. How anyone could give it less than 5 stars I just can't understand. Patrica Eddy has done it again and it was a privilege to have been one of the firsts to read this story. Patricia is an automatic one click and her Away From The Keyboard series is a great place to start! I highly recommend it.
This story was emotional and beautiful. Connor is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, not only is he still physically recovering from all he endured he is also feeling so guilty with everything that happened with his brother. Connor’s injuries are still holding him back and while he is still very capable of doing a lot of things some are still quite impossible. He feels really down at times about his situation and with his career as an FBI agent on the line he really starts to struggle until the day he sets eyes on Isabel. Isabel is a single mother trying her best to raise her wonderful daughter, Veronica, when she first meets Connor there is an instant attraction but it takes time for them to get together. When they are suppose to go on their first date Connor thinks she stands him up but what really happens is a suspense that starts to unravel. With people on the search for her daughter and them in witness protection can her and Connor form a bond that will last? Will Isabel be able to show Connor he is perfect flaws and all? Will his injuries hinder his abilities to protect these to who become some of the most important people to him? This story was suspended, emotional, and had it all. I loved that they shared their pasts to each other and help each other in different ways.
Patricia D Eddy has completely outdone herself and surpassed all.my expectations with Rogue Survivor. The story is fabulous and don't get me wrong, I loved every single word. But, it was the awesome cast of characters who reached out, grabbed and held my attention. The rollercoaster of emotions explored were so intense. You may need to use a tissue or 10 as you read.
Isabel Lopez and her 17 year old daughter Veronica are two intelligent, resilient, savvy women who kept cool even in the mist dangerous of circumstances. But it was Connor Davis who really spoke to me. Being an FBI agent is who Connor is. All he knows. When it's suddenly taken away from him he's bereft and struggling to accept his hew normal. Never giving up and perservering are so ingrained that he made himself keep trying to overcome his limitations no matter what. I celebrated his triumphs and grieved with him over what he perceived as failures. Just about the time he's hit rock bottom and he thinks he may be too broken to be whole again, he finds love and family. In protecting Isabel and Veronica he must call on all his experience, every contact he knows and pull every string he can in order to bring down those that want to harm his family.
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 POV: Dual 1st Person M/F Stand Alone? This book can be read as a stand alone but there is A LOT of character crossover that makes reading in order the most enjoyable way to read it.
Warning: this book is one of the more emotional books from Patricia D Eddy and reading with tissues on hand is highly recommended.
Suggestion: Reading the entire AFK and Gone Rogue series of books before reading this one would be awesome but reading at least Braving His Past before reading this book will increase the enjoyment of this book immensely.
WOW! This book was EPIC! The emotional journey in this book was intense and started from page one. The redemption of Conner is a journey one cannot travel without tears and heartache. This book brought the feels right along with all the action, drama, laughter, and love. I am floored! Speechless! Absolutely in awe!
Someone, anyone, tell me how this woman (who does NOT live in Texas) can write Texans so well that this Texan (who knows better) would swear she was a Texan?!!? I am baffled and IMPRESSED! Everyone always says the only one’s who understand Texans are other Texans but PDE just proved “them” wrong! Way to bring that Texan vibe! Yeehaw! 🤠
I am not going to tell you what happens because “Spoilers” but I am going to tell you to have those tissues handy and be prepared to have your heart melted.
Another Amazing Read from PDE and I absolutely can’t wait for the next one!
Hot darn this story has all the feels and will take you on an emotional roller coaster, highs and lows as we finally see what becomes of Connor, Q’s brother, who was left to die…broken…bloody…and about to drown until he was found. Months later he is still feeling the effects of his beating, his body and spirit broken and is desperately trying to get back onto duty with the FBI, but his body betrays him at every turn. While getting back to fighting form to pass his evaluations, he meets Isabel, a widow with a teenage daughter, Veronica, who happens to find herself in grave danger while researching a story for her school. Connor and Isabel start slowly and on the day of their date, all he** breaks loose as Veronica goes missing, having Isabel miss her date with Connor. When evidence suggests that no one can be trusted, Connor pulls all his contacts to help the two, to keep them safe and figure out where her friend is and bring them all home safely. Oh my this story was very hard to put down, the characters, the emotions, the connection between all three…beautiful. I loved the no drama between them, Isabel really seeing who Connor is as a man and her moving forward from her past. Both have tragic pasts they have to overcome and together they are stronger, moving forward as one…some tissues may be required. I’ll be honest there were some things I didn’t understand, why it was happening and how did Luke fit into all of it….I may have missed the connection somewhere as I was so into Connor and Isabel BUT even with those questions, still worth the 5 stars. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I've been a big fan of Patricia and she never fails to disappoint.
Bring on the scars, the danger, the love!
This might be the 3rd book but the writing is always superb and the emotions sucked me right in. This is the main reason from the first book that I read from Patricia, to her latest, I'll read all of them!
This book is a standalone but I highly recommend you start with her AFK series and work your way towards this one. There are a couple of characters that are from her past books and encountering them in this one makes me want to read all the past books. It's like saying hi to a friend you haven't seen in awhile.
You gotta grab this book and read all the books written by this author!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book in exchange for an ARC copy of the book.
Every time I think that Patricia has hit the highest level that she can she knocks me for a loop with her next book and that is what happened with the latest offering from her There are not enough superlatives to say how brilliant this book was
If you have been a reader of hers for a while then you have already met Connor he was the FBI brother of Quinton Silver in Braving His past and he cannot forgive himself for what happened to his brother let alone that he almost lost his own life at the hands of his brothers' deranged boyfriends lackeys. Now Connor is having to face the fact that he may never heal enough to return to the FBI and he isn't handling it well Then a chance meeting at the gym gives him a reason to smile again Isabel Lopez is a single mother of a 17 year old daughter A daughter who wants to be a journalist when a story she and a friend are doing for the school newspaper put them in the crosshairs then it will take all of Connor's skills to get to the bottom of the situation a danger that is far closer than any of them realise. Meanwhile he slowly grows to accept that he may not be returning to the FBI but maybe he has found a new reason to live and a new team to work with,.
WOW! What an emotional rollercoaster ride that was! Connor and Isabel were everything. Their story tugged on my heartstrings and by the end had me completely and utterly gushing with love for these two (and the rest of the crew). They have this instant attraction that keeps pulling them in and creating a bond like no other. There were some very intense moments that could possibly break them apart and I just kept hoping that when I turned the pages things would be okay.
Filled with action, suspense, danger, drama, angst, steam and some very beautiful moments, Connor and Isabel will captivate you and keep you riveted to your seat the whole way through.
It is no secret that I'm a fan of this author. Her characters are well drawn and bring the reader in to them so that we are feeling their emotions and their pain. But that's where my words have stopped. I don't want this to sound like every other review I've written for Patricia Eddy. That isn't fair to anyone reading a review of one of her books. So I'll go back to basics.
Ms. Eddy knows that we all have flaws, insecurities, and fears. We've all been injured, although I don't think the word "broken" is quite what I think when I read her books. Hopeful? Romantic? Full of life and love? Those are better words but still miss the mark. I think Ms. Eddy, to write these books, has had to live a very interesting life. I can't imagine otherwise.
If you are looking for a book that can take you to the lows and the highs with equal emotion, if you want a book where love is redemption, and most of all, if you want a book that actually makes you feel good at the end, then this series of books will do it. Don't be surprised at a tear or two either. It happens with most of her happy endings. I always tell people to start with the Away From The Keyboard series, as I did. Those books will form the background that you will be reading in the Gone Rogue series, and ALL of the books are written extremely well with emotions that run deep.
This book in the Gone Rogue series sort of surprised me. With other authors there always seems to be a situation or two that appears contrived rather than natural. You will not find contrived in this book. Not at all. You'll find real emotions that would be felt by real people. And as in all of her books, I was drawn into the character's lives without any real effort on my part.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "ROGUE SURVIVOR Again Patricia D Eddy outdid herself writing this awesome story full of emotions, steam, angst, danger, suspense, intrigue, it's a rollercoaster ride for sure. Connor Davis a Quinn's brother who was left for dead bloody & broken about to drown when he was finally saved its been months of healing trying to get to bring an FBI Agent his body betrays him at every turn. Isabel Lopez a single mom with 27 yr old daughter Veronica sees Connor at the gym her name for him Hercules because of his size their both attracted to one another. Veronica has been doing research for her school paper digging a little to much has put a target on her & her mom's back on the day of Connor & Isabel's date all h*ll breaks loose when Veronica goes missing. Connor pulls all his contacts to help Isabel find Veronica & her friend she wants to be a journalist both he & Isabel have tragic pasts, you'll love the connection between these three he'll put all his skills together to get the bottom of the situation. I definitely recommend to get this excellent story so well written you can't put down will Connor save the girls, will he & Isabel get a HEA, will his FBI Career be over so many questions you must get this fantastic book to see how it all turns out it won't disappoint.
Very sweet! Connor, Isabel and Veronica's story is so very touching. This one was different than the other stories in the series. It did not make me cry, but it touched me. I was glad to see Connor get his story. Here we have this physical broken FBI agent who's career is slipping out of his grasp because of his severe injuries. This is a man who has lived and breathed his career, to the extent he was distant from the brother who needed him. Luckily, he came through for him, but at a great cost to him. He meets Isabel at the gym. She is a single mother who strikes a flame in him.
I thought this was an age-gap romance, so I was surprised to find out both the MMC and the FMC are in their late forties. It didn't ruin it or anything; it was just different than what I was expecting. It was actually pretty refreshing to read about characters that were less than perfect and older than the norm. This is also the first from this author I have read. I haven't read the first two books in this series and have no idea if they are in the same universe or anything, but I still understood the story and didn't feel like I was missing something the whole time.
This story is about Connor, an FBI agent who was beaten to within an inch of his life and now suffers from enough medical problems to warrant a retirement, which he doesn't want. As he tries desperately to get himself back into shape, he meets Isabel. Isabel is a single mom with a seventeen-year-old daughter, and works at a company that helps people with drug recovery. They meet at the gym and when bad things happen to Isabel's daughter, Veronica, Connor steps in as the knight in shining armor they all needed him to be.
It was a pretty quick story, only 230 pages or so on the Kindle, so it goes quickly. The love between the characters would be hard to believe except for the psychological effects of the situation. It would be perfectly reasonable to see these people clinging to each other so desperately with what they go through. The girls needed someone to save them, and he needed someone to need him. The lust is believable and is pretty open doors, not very graphic, and there isn't much of it. This isn't a fluffy romance due to the dark material, but the love between the couple and the two adults towards the teen is very sweet. Connor is extremely respectful and does everything right for both the FMC and her daughter.
Since this does involve a dark plot, I wouldn't recommend it for people with heavy trigger issues or anyone looking for a rom-com or fluff read. But I would recommend it to anyone else who loves military romances, contemporaries or underdog romances.
Trigger Warnings: kidnapping (minors and adults), assault (minors and adults), car accident (teen hit with car), drug abuse (not main characters), murder (off-page), death of a parent/spouse (backstory), attempted murder (MMC, graphic), attempted murder of minor, threat of rape to FMC, disability (MMC)
Rogue Survivor Gone Rogue #3 by Patricia D. Eddy Narrated by Sebastian York, Melanie Mendez
Settling down to listen to Patricia D Eddy is such a treat, and this book made it extra delectable! This series pushes all the right buttons, from family, to romance to suspense to friendships, it is all that I love in a good book. This one features Connor and Isabelle. Meeting while exercising, these two were instant chemistry. But Connor is dealing with his job and recovery and Isabelle's priority is her daughter Veronica. It doesn't stop them from being friends, or even a bit more. When danger hits though, they both realize it's much more and they need to do whatever it takes to survive as well as save Veronica and her friend. How does it all turn out? Well, Eddy packs this one full of twists and turns, a slow burn romance and a spunky teenager that had me glued for hours! I love this installment and if you too love romantic suspense like I do, than pick up a book by her!
Creating the perfect scene is our narration team of Sebastian York and Melanie Mendez. These two shine as Connor and Isabelle as well as the mass of secondary characters we see. They pull out all the stops when it comes to emotions and the build of suspense is strong and addicting! I could not stop listening! This is definitely a one click!
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is as attention-grabbing, heart-stopping/breaking as the rest of the series and their parent series Away From Keyboard!!
I have been curious about Connor ever since his quick appearances in his brother's story and, as per usual, I was no disappointed when his story finally saw the light of day!
To overcome what he did, to not only survive but use what he learned going through all that to help a teenager overcome similar issues was tear-worthy!
I have yet to be disappointed with the author's books. Every book offers new friends, as the characters are too real to be seen as only words on a page. The action is well-thought out exciting while the emotions are just so....real! I mean, you can FEEL the heartbreak and joy emanating from the characters as if they are real people standing before you and telling you their story in their ow words.
If my reading dates show up, it shows it took a two days. Well, it didn't. I just didn't get started till late night and finished in the wee hours of the morning!
Another action packed and heartfelt suspenseful romance from Patricia D. Eddy. We had gotten a little taste of Connor from his brother’s, Quinton, book and I was itching for more.
After being beaten almost to death, Connor is trying to get back his position with the FBI. He meets Isabel at the gym and they have an instant connection. But when her daughter is in trouble, Connor’s protective instincts take over and he does whatever he needs to do protect her.
Connor and Isabel were absolutely amazing. Connor was badly hurt when trying to protect his brother from a psycho ex and his injuries were not only physical but mental as well. I loved how hard he was working to get back to his career and never gave up. Isabel is a fierce mama bear while protecting her daughter and she had me cheering. The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat with everything that was happening. Definitely one of my favorite scenes she’s ever written. The ending left me with a smile and some happy tears.
It was so good to listen to Patricia again. I've waited awhile for survivor to go audio. I'm doubly glad I got to hear Sebastian again. This was an awesome listen, I forgot who Connor was connected to but it's making me want to revisit. I enjoyed Veronicas introduction She was a sassy little thing and if not for her, the storyline would have been different. The pace of the story was great, it kept me listening and the chemistry between H and h, although a tad quick just...worked. Izzy has a good life with a job that leads into the plotline and suspense. Our H is definitely a tortured soul and is in bad shape but like a true alpha he finds the positive. Did I mention V and the other girls are kickass. I enjoyed the humour that Patricia throws in, It had me fist pumping. Patricia has written grittier stories with a lot more gutwrenching emotions but these aspects don't detract from this amazing book. The plot meshed and rolled along into a hold your breath till their out of danger. So enjoyed this "rogue" book. Looking forward to the next one.
Audible listen narrated by Sebastian York and Melanie Mendez.
This book wasn’t as enjoyable as the first two, but I really liked the action sequences and this one was full of them!
Instantly notice a Texas country Sebastian York! I chuckled through this book at some of the ridiculous and expected sayings!
Melanie Mendez, I think this is my first time listening, maybe this was just the character….I hope. The word is important, not “imporant” forgetting that first T. The word is straightens not “straigh-ens” again, there is a T in there. Button not “bud-an” I am not sure how the editor let that slip in several spots. It had nothing to do with the twangs each character were expected to have. Other than that, Melanie’s narration was perfect, great inflection, tone is clear and exceptional.
This story drew me in from the beginning. It has all the emotions and strong developed characters. Connor is trying to recover from a severe beating that left his almost dead. He's determined to get himself back to physical shape so that he can go back to active duty with the FBI. Isabel is a single mother after losing her husband about ten years ago. Her daughter is 17 and getting ready to graduate high school and head off to college. An encounter at the gym leads to coffee dates for Connor and Isabel and just as things start to get serious, her daughter goes missing.
Connor proves where there's a will there's a way and works to find her without the help of the FBI. This has love, attraction, danger and violence. All the emotions are there and no one is written as a weak character. Her teenage daughter could have cowered in the corner and instead she helped save them all.
Connor is Quinton’s brother, for those familiar with the Away From Keyboard series (Braving His Past), and, while it’s not essential to have read that, it gives an added depth to this story. Connor is fighting his ghosts and severe injuries from a beating by rogue cops, and this story leaves you in tears over his struggles and his redemption. A chance encounter with Isabel at the gym changes Connor’s life, and Isabel’s, but it is her 17-year-old daughter Veronica that truly makes this book unforgettable. With the AFK team, cameos from Q and Graham and Zephyr and Roman, Connor has to fight with all he has not to lose everything he hadn’t realized he needed. Truly one of Patricia Eddy’s best, this book is a joy and a must-read, and re-read.
I don't know why I think she can't do it again, because she does it every time; reaches out and grabs me by throat, and the heart - every. single. time. I blocked off an afternoon to spend on this, I finished in under two hours, I was so engrossed. Connor and Isabel's story, and by connection Veronica's, was all the things. By turns, emotional, gut wrenching, suspenseful, and heartwarming. I had trepidation going into this because I typically don't care for the single mom with a teenager trope. I needn't have worried, it was done with perfection and I was just as invested in Veronica as I was Connor and Isabel. And, as always, it's amazing to get a few glimpses and mentions of other characters we've come to know and love.
Patricia Eddy is a must-read for me. Her devotion to beautifully broken heroes and attention to quality in audiobook performers seals the deal every time. In Rogue Survivor Connor suffered a significant trauma resulting in him not being able to do his job at the FBI. Reeling from the physical and psychological trauma he kindles a new romance with Isabel, whom he met at the gym. Isabel is a widowed single mom who is wrapped up in a mess of trouble…the kind of trouble Connor can understand and run with. Patricia is such a passionate writer who really digs deep into the layers of recovery. I really enjoyed the evolution healing body and mind and growing a new relationship, especially under these thrilling circumstances. Veronica is Isabel’s daughter and I loved her! I also really enjoy it when there are ties to other characters in other series. Quinton is Connor’s brother and is featured in Braving His Past, Away from Keyboard #8. Quinton and Connor reconnect in this book and I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend the AFK series, but you don’t have to read it to enjoy this book. Sebastian York is a wonderful performer and excellent choice for this character. He is really good at the rough/gruff man while showing vulnerability, humor, and, of course, an incredibly steamy side. Melanie Mendez is a new narrator to me. I enjoyed her performance and will definitely listen to more of her work. Patricia is really good at choosing narrators, which is why I will come back to her books again and again!
Story 4 Star Spice 2 star Overall rating 3.5 star Tropes: single mom, found family
This was a pretty good book. I got the audio for free during the last 'Stuff Your Ears' event. The narrators did a pretty great job.
The story focuses on a single mom named Isabel who meets an FBI agent, Connor, who is on medical leave. After a serious event involving her daughter and her daughter's friend, they go into protective custody. During that short period, Connor does everything he can to protect Isabel and her daughter, becoming her daughter's protector. In a sweet moment, Isabel's daughter tells Conner she never thought of having a stepdad before him.
Despite the spice being very minimal, I actually enjoyed it. The story was very engaging on what was going on.
Another beautiful story from Patricia which manages to cover a heart-wrenching story along with suspense, romance and some steam. Everything I want in a book. Connor melted my heart, he was just so amazing, I loved every broken part of him. Isabel and Veronica were great too. We so need to hear more about Veronica as she was so strong and courageous and deserves a book of her own after college. I loved the mention of Q and Graham along with Zephyr and Roman. A book about AJ and the rangers would be great too!Overall I highly recommend this book with beautifully strong characters. 5 star read again.
Isabel is a mum of a17 year old and thinks things are going alright until her daughter puts them in danger. Connor and his team step in to protect them. Drama galore but also there is an easiness in the relationship I've not really seen before. Don't get me wrong, it is certainly intense especially when they are in danger but the time between Connor and Isabel just seems real. Patricia Eddy gives us another fantastic story that grabs on and doesn't let go till the very end. It really is a wonderful book and I highly recommend this story. Fantastic!
Connor, Quinton's brother from the Away From the Keyboard series, heals from being beaten but cannot pass the FBI physical test. He meets Isabel in the gym and they hit it off. Isabel, a widow, finds out her daughter, Veronica, was kidnapped and hit by a car on the night they were supposed to have their first date. Connor makes some calls and he and his friends try to find Veronica's missing friend who was taken at the same time, while trying to keep Isabel and Veronica safe. A moving romance as Connor struggles with his injuries and feeling deserving of love. Isabel and Veronica become dear to him as they do the same. Beautiful story.
This was an awesome listen. I loved that Connor and Isabel were older finding love. Connor was struggling with his new reality when the surprising connection developed, and it was then tested by fire as danger stalked Isabel and her daughter. His protective instincts for them came roaring to life and a beautiful story of love ensued as they fought for their lives amidst the danger. Suspense, mystery, edge of your seat action, and cameos and mentions from characters from the previous books and series. Narration was great... I always love Sebastien York and Melanie Mendez was new to me and did a great job as well.
