Diane has written another amazing book. You would not know she is a newly published author with the quality of her work. The attention to detail, story line and characters keep you reading straight through. It is a book you can’t put down. I know because I tried, but was back up at 4am to finish the book. It seems to be a book that appeals to many age groups as my 33 year daughter, my 65 year old sister and 90 year old mom all read their books in a day because they couldn’t put them down. Congratulations Diane on another amazing book. Waiting for book number 3 and hopefully many more years of reading your books. This lady is my new favourite author.

This is the second book in the Cross Your Heart and Die series by new author Diane L Kowalyshyn. It is an intense thriller that follows a legal drama, with a romantic thread running through it. The storyline of this book is so gripping it is simply impossible to put down from the very first chapter.

Kowalyshyn’s writing style is engaging and well-paced, drawing the reader in and taking them along on a wild and unexpected ride filled with suspense and intrigue. This series is highly recommended for readers of books by Karen Rose, Nora Roberts, and Cynthia Eden.

Double Cross is the second book in the Cross your Heart and Die series and is an entertaining read. Blackmail, murder, paranormal entities, the law, and romance combined to engage my interest from start to finish.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

The second instalment in the Cross Your Heart and Die trilogy.

Lawyer Susan Dante and head of Torrence Publishing, Aiden Torrence, discover that they are mad for each other and begin a pretty sexually charged relationship amidst their legal wrangling over an old client. But on top of everything else, a dark spirit has become determined to stop Susan, and Aiden. Romance, legal battles, and paranormal possession....a great combination for creating a page turner!!

A smooth and polished writing style, a well paced plot, and interesting characters. A great read!

Susan and Aiden are meant to be together but both have trust issues stemming from ghosts of relationships past. These trust issues are compounded by both of their intense professional integrities. Susan, a lawyer, is determined to give her clients the settlement they deserve, which causes a drift in her and Aiden’s relationship. But speaking of ghosts of relationships past there is a literal ghost entity trying to deprive Susan and Aiden of the life they’re living… of their life in general, a life they’re meant to live together. Will love and life prevail? Read to find out, you won’t regret it!

‘You’re the Grand Poobah of the underdog’ – and a mysterious romance

Author Diane L. Kowalyshyn makes her literary debut with the thesis that earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Seton Hill University. The series is titled CROSS YOUR HEART AND DIE, and the initial book was CROSSOVER: this is the second volume of that series, DOUBLE CROSS. After reading these powerful novels it is obvious why she earned that honor! Diane has a grasp of the use of paranormal aspects in her characters that steps away form the usual ‘weird ploy’ and instead makes that variation add to the primary character’s persona.

The tone of the novel is suggested by the book’s subtitle – ‘Will justice be thwarted by the disembodied spirit of an unscrupulous businessman?’ – and is further stimulated by Diane’s entry into he story – Boston, 2016 ‘Guilt chipped away at George Karcher’s soul and left him an empty vessel – hollow and barren. To the unstudied eye, he seemed successful. His stellar career at Torrance Publishing had been the cherry on his full life. A well-respected member of the board, he volunteered at General Hospital, worked in the soup kitchen at the homeless shelter, coached Little League, even served as a Boy Scout leader. Not that it made any difference, George hated himself. He’d allowed an innocent man to be brutally murdered…’ With that fine prelude, the story commences.

The ability to compose a plot overview that encourages readers to enter a book’s arena is another gift Diane has accomplished: ‘Attorney Susan Dante has spent her life championing lost-causes, even after landing a job at Lucas and Devine, a prestigious law firm in Boston's Beacon Hill. Despite working twelve-hour days, she serves paperwork on her latest pro-bono case, a copyright dispute with Torrence Publishing. Aiden Torrence, owner of Torrence Publishing, is impressed by Susan's spunk. He promises restitution for her client and delegates the discovery to a long-standing business associate who, unknown to him, is possessed by a creature of the otherworld. Aiden and Susan can't deny their attraction and dive into a whirlwind romance. But Susan fears someone, or something, is after her. When Aiden fails to disclose pertinent contracts, she slaps him with a class-action lawsuit, forcing him to slog through a twisted conspiracy of blackmail and murder to rescue her from the heinous entity hell-bent on destroying her.’

Having read Books 1 and 2 of this promising series nearly guarantees the reader will continue this fascinating journey. This is a very impressive follow up novel that indicates the arrival of a fine new author.

I wanted to love this book and it seems like a lot of people really did. I was intrigued right away with the publisher and the lawyer and how quickly they fall in love. I found myself flipping the pages so fast, totally engrossed in the story and then just WHAM (I dont want to give this part away) - something happens that is so out of place, didn't really make sense to me and it just ruined the story for me. As I mentioned it seems like a lot of people love it but that part - I just can't get over it unfortunately.

3.5 stars - this book was pitched to me as unstoppable and something I wouldn't be able to stop reading. It wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be, but then again nothing ever is when it gets pitched to you as the best book ever. I went in with high hopes and it was good, but it wasn't something I will read again probably.
