Will Mireworth yield her secrets to her new mistress...?
The family gather at Mireworth for their first Christmas and Hannah is determined to unravel the secrets within its walls. Why did Wycliff's ancestor hide the tower, and what grip did the long ago shadow-mage cast over his family? With Barnes as her assistant, Hannah sets out to discover the truth.
This is an epilogue novella to the Manners and Monsters series
Tilly writes whimsical historical fantasy books, set in a bygone time where magic is real. With a quirky and loveable cast, her books combine vintage magic and gentle humour. Through fierce friendships her characters discover that in an uncertain world, the most loyal family is the one you create.
Short and sweet! I really hope we get more of these characters and this world! I will read pretty much everything in this setting. The Hand and Seraphina are my favorite 😃👍

Mistletoe and Mireworth is the epilogue Christmas novella to Tilly Wallace’s Manners and Monsters series.
I was somehow convinced that I had already written and posted a review for this, but apparently not so let me remedy that.
I’m glad that this epilogue novella was written because it helped to tie up the loose ends from the series. It feels almost more that this novella could have been part of the last book in the series, Hessians and Hellhounds. I wish there had been less questions at the conclusion of the final full-length book of the series, but as there were this novella addressed them very well.
It was lovely to see Hannah and Wycliff settling into the lives at Mireworth and enjoying a lovely Christmas as a family. I’m sad to see this series end, but it ended well.
A good epilogue to the series that ties up some loose ends from Book 6. It was nice to catch up with Hannah, Wycliffe, her parents and their ragtag team/family as they celebrate their first Christmas. Hopefully we will get a glimpse of them in future novellas.
Here we go, with the first christmassy read of the year!
Mistletoe and Mireworth by Tilly Wallace is placed after the main series, so don't read it before you finished those, otherwise it'll be a big spoiler and a tad confusing.
As a quick epilogue of a story it was entertaining and comforting to read, as we learn more about some of the side characters, as well as unsolving some mysteries. So as just another extension of the series it's well worth it!
As a Christmas story it didn't have enough of seasonal bits to be satisfactory purely on that aspect. As it can't be read as a stand alone anyway, that wasn't a problem for me though.
This wa a short but fun novella, to end the tale of Wycliffe and Hannah. We get resolutions to many of the loose ends from the Manners and Monsters series. I enjoyed this book and the whole series. I even grew to like Frank although Barnes never did grow on me the same way. That was one mystery which was not solved…how does Barnes still live and function? Perhaps we will see more short stories about Wycliffe and Hannah or perhaps a follow-on series of Hannah and Wycliffe’s child(den)?
I am reading Tournament of Shadows which is the prequel series about Hugh and Sera. I think I prefer it over the Manners and Monsters series, mostly because I didn’t really like Barnes.
Christmas-set novels and stories haven't been so popular since the mid 19th century. This one provides a charming coda to Wallace's `Manners and Monsters' series. The official last volume in the series did seem to end rather abruptly with some interesting questions unresolved. These loose ends are tied up very satisfyingly in `Mistletoe and Mireworth'.
In this story, Hannah and family are back in her husband Wycliffe's intriguing ancestral home and several of the house's secrets are finally revealed. There is a delightful Christmas Eve wedding, some beautiful and inventive magic from Lady Seraphina and plans for the future which make Hannah and Wycliffe's happy ending a particularly convincing one. Wallace herself describes these books as `whimsical historical fantasy' but the focus on women's rights and a pervading sadness about past wrongs gives depth to the whole series.
This novella gives the readers a nice conclusion to a quirky, fun and entertaining series. I'm so glad I happened upon Manners and Monsters, it's been a unique adventure. I not only enjoyed Hannah and Wycliff as main characters, but also all the side characters as well.
The whole series was a solid 4 Stars for me. 🤗
Hoopla had other audios by Tilly Wallace that I wanted to check out, but when I looked they were all gone...including all in the Manners and Monsters series. Many audios disappeared from Hoopla..they just POOFED. Apparently there is a change happening there.
This story ends the series off nicely. It was an interesting and entertaining read. I really enjoyed this series and this book solved the mystery of the tower and what happened to the first shadow mage. I love a happy ending. Highly recommend.
This series has ended. It is always sad when it is over. I never thought when I listened to the first book that the series would be one of my favorite reads.
A lovely way to end such a wonderfully creative series that celebrates and brings together the kooky, unique and misplaced in such a magical heart warming way. While giving us the chance to piece together the answers surrounding the mysteries of Mireworth, in a festive family setting, whilst they prepare for the long awaited wedding of Mary and Frank. With the added bonus of subtle hints interwoven about Seraphina and Hugh's colourful past to whet our appetite for an up and coming spin off series. A sweetly informative short to uncover Mireworth's entombed mysteries for all those who have journeyed and marvelled alongside Wycliff and Hannah's delightfully paranormal and fantastical series in it's entirety!
I'm using this review to sum up all of the books. I stumbled across this series on Libby app and it has all of the genres I love! Romance, ghouls, ghosts, murder mystery in periodic London (sorry if I worded that wrong). I loved all of the characters. I couldn't wait to go to the next book. Tilly Wallace has definitely became one of my favorite authors and when I finished the series, it was the first time in a long time that I was sad that it ended. I wanted to be able to reread it for the first time again! Overall it's one of my absolute favorite series!
Welcome to a author who will tug your heartstrings and you will wish the books to continue on. I am not a fan of most books who focus on werewolves and vampires, but this author has changed my mind. Tilly Wallace has produced a series of books that are intelligent, and absorbing and yet provide a perfect balance of romance and mystery. Write on, milady!
Have read all the Hanna and Wycliffe books and loved them all. This last was filled with love and family. While not an adventure like the other books,it was captivating in other ways. Finally Mary and Frank got married and Hanna and Wycliffe had their first Christmas at Mireworth. Hope we haven't heard the last of these wonderful characters. I suspect not. Enjoy.
I really have enjoyed this series and the main core of characters; Wycliff, Hannah, Seraphina, Hugh, Frank, Barnes, Mary and Mrs. Rossette. The book is written so well and the scenes are painted as if Seraphina herself had been directing Tilly Wallace.
This book was a tantalizing read but really, for me, it was merely a tease. I do hope to see more in future. In the meantime I will be enjoying the prequel series about Hannah's mother, Seraphina.
A great end to this series that kicked off my year with a bang. We get answers to some questions, but not all - but isn't that just like life? Especially when it concerns what exactly happened to our ancestors. But this book sets everyone up for their HEA, making it clear that there are only good times ahead for the characters we've grown to know so well. This was such a fun, unique series - I haven't devoured books like these in ages. I'm sad to see everyone go.
Mistletoe and Mireworth is a sweet finale to the Monsters and Mysteries series. It was lovely to see where life took the group after the events of Hessians and Hellhounds. It was a warm story about love fulfilled in many ways. Marian Hussey did a wonderful job. I’m sad to say goodbye to Hannah and Wycliff but what a lovely way to say farewell.
I have never been so sorry for a series to end. I have enjoyed all the books in this series. It is a great mix of historical fiction and fantasy. I love a touch of magic in my mysteries. The characters were beautifully drawn and there was always a surprise to each story.
Mistletoe and Mireworth: A Manners and Monster Christmas Novella
I loved this book. It tied up all those loose ends and lingering questions from the Manners and Monsters book series. I highly recommend this book for those that have enjoyed the series and those that love this genre. I hope that one day, the author will pen another book with Hannah and Wycliffe.
A sweet little novella that opens up the possibility of a separate series (though it seems like it's mainly for setting up for the prequel series which it did a good job getting me hyped for). And a nice rounding out of a lot of loose ends at the end of this series. I feel more at peace having finished it now but I'm a sucker for a Christmas episode.
If you enjoy paranormal romances, Manners and Mobsters is a great series to enjoy. Like a good fire on a cold day Hannah's adventures to save lives and fall in love warm the heart. Enjoy!
Wonderful book and so appreciate d doing this Christmas season. It was good to read again about beloved characters of this series. Great book and series of books.
