Thanks to demons and ghosts, Cape Grace is living up to its reputation as the most haunted town in the USA. * But now Gus, Ko, Astrid, and Noa are beginning to suspect local clergyman, Father Lucas Von Brandt, and his congregation may not be what they claim to be. * Can the Specter Inspectors save Cape Grace from itself... without making the ultimate sacrifice?
aaahh that was amazing!! i really liked found too, the ending was so good! go sapphics go ! specter inspectors is basically a queer group of friends exploring the paranormal, say a queer scooby doo gang. it's wonderful and the art style rocks!
It’s the start of a new week and we have lots of reads to talk about before the year is over. I am trying to wrap up some graphic novel series that I am nearly finished with and one of those is Specter Inspectors (I believe issue 5 is the last and I was not able to find anything that proved otherwise online, but if more does come out I will pick it back up)! So for now this is our last post about Specter Inspectors and the series finale!
SPOILERS AHEAD
Our group of friends is on the cusp of figuring out what is going on in this supposedly haunted town. But even if they figure it out is it something they can actually stop? The group is onto something when they begin to suspect Father Lucas Von Brant, but what if he is more powerful than they could ever imagine?
I tried my best to keep the summary section kind of vague since it is the conclusion. I will say I am very happy with how the series ended and they definitely left room to keep the series going. I enjoyed the art style throughout this entire series. I also really liked several of the main cast of characters and some of the characters we met briefly throughout the series. I thought the setting of this graphic novel was perfect! I would definitely recommend giving this series a try if you are looking for something fun and spooky. I was able to read all five issues through Hoopla, so if you have that available through your library, you may be able to check them out as well! I am excited to move back to some other graphic novel series in the near future.
Cute! Overall, I loved the art style. The characters were diverse, but I don't feel like I got to know them all super well. I wish the series was longer, with more time it would have been even better.
I really like that in the end the Specter Inspectors got Astrid back to her normal self, as well as everything relating to the demon possessing her got solved. Some smaller aspects of the solution felt like a rather quick fix but, overall I greatly enjoyed the ending to this little comic series. Also with that said, I hope there ends up being more stories involving the Specter Inspectors since I’d enjoy reading more.
This series was a massive banger from start to finish: a well-built and compelling paranormal plotline with moving side quests, loveable and cute characters with good representation, a properly creepy bad guy, a queer Scooby gang with a dash of found family trope, a beautiful art style (the demon's true form? *chef's kiss*) and a truly satisfying ending. What's there not to like?
This series is fun, and the upcoming collected edition is gorgeous. The characters are interesting and definitely have Scooby Doo vibes. If you liked that, read this! The art also really pops.
Oh man, this was so good! I wish there were a second arc. I'd love to see a different kind of investigation with these characters on the next leg of their journey.
A satisfying conclusion to the series - I know this was intended to be a limited run, but I would love to see more from Specter Inspectors! The open ending provides the room to add more, and it would be interesting to see what the inspectors get into now that they've been picked up by a network. It would also be interesting to see Gus or Ko in the spotlight for a change. I hope this is continued into a longer series!
