Shungiku Nakamura (中村春菊 Nakamura Shungiku?, born December 13,1980) is a Japanese yaoi manga artist. She is most famous for creating Junjo Romantica: Pure Romance. Shungiku Nakamura's distinct style of manga has been identified largely throughout Japanese and English yaoi fanbases. Her works usually include large age gaps between the seme and uke and characters with careers in the publishing industry (as depicted in Junjo Romantica and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi). She often cowrites with Fujisaki Miyako, who authored the novels of Yoshino Chiaki no baai in Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi.
Works: Junjo Romantica: Pure Romance (2002 - Ongoing) "Junjou Mistake" (2008) Hybrid Child (2003 - 2004) Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi (2007 - Ongoing) "√W.P.B." (2004) "Touzandou Tentsui Ibun" (1998 - 1999) "Mangetsu Monogatari" "Tsuki wa Yamiyo ni Kakuru ga Gotoku" (1999) "Picturesque of a Mask" (art only) "Umi ni Nemuru Hana"
\(◎o◎)/ Finally, some progress! The story moves forward! We get actual character growth and internal monologues that make sense! There's a even a heart melting scene or two! I felt more invested in this one after the huge disappointment in 14 and the lackluster vol 15 that had me wishing the series would just end already. And that's sad because I used to really love this series. I'm not back to that level, but I am intrigued to see what Ritsu does, and I still hope the series is winding down.
I can't believe after all these years that I still have love for this series.
I do try to stay up to date with these series whenever a new volumes comes out.
I started reading, while making dinner and almost burned my steak because I was getting so into the story.
I thought for sure Ritsu was finally going to confess his love to Takano. He turned this friends Nao down, explained everything to him. Once he was better from his fever. Nao moved out, after trying to basically kissing him. I'm glad Ritsu punched him, in the stomach, even if it was reflex.
Ritsu and Takano spend the night together and though Ritsu, says it in his head, he realizes the next morning that he never said it outloud. Before he can, Takano stops him, wanting him to make it a romantic confession, like in a shojo manga. I really loved that scene!
After we go back to Kisa-san and his boyfriend, who I really didn't care about at first, I wanted more of Ritsu and Takano, but after a few pages, I started to care about them. Even though they are living across from each other, they don't get to see each other. I thought it was so cute that Yukina waited to tell Kisa about him being the new artist (which is mentioned when Takano tells Ritsu but he doesn't say the name), and Yukina wants to spend the money he made on a trip together. Made my heart happy!
Then he see Nao. The history of him meeting Ritsu and how their friendship grows before his feelings become romantic and the nights he would spend comforting Ritsu whenever he had a nightmare from his trauma with Takano.
He leaves realizing Takano no never be able to call Ritsu his best friend, that only applies to him.
Volume 17 gets released this year. I doubt I will be able to read this when it comes out and will have to wait before I do.
I just want Ritsu to finally say it!

1.5 stars. And Nao turns out to be the same as Takano. He tried to rape Onodera to prove they’d be compatible sexually which somehow proves they’d be compatible romantically. That was at the start of the book. I once again skipped to Kisa and Yukina.
4.5 stars. Kisa and Yukina go on vacation to a spa to celebrate Yukina getting his art published in a children’s book (at the same publishing company but different department than Kisa’s). It’s all sweet and cute and they’re adorable and still weirdos, but they like that about each other. They’re probably the more human-seeming of the two couples for sure. This was a lovely chapter for them to end on.
This is the last book in English and honestly I don’t think I’d be interested in any more. Sixteen books and fifteen years and absolutely nothing changed for o Onodera and Takano. Kiss and Yukina seemed like they did advance over the 1+ years the book’s timeline spans. I appreciate that.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I loved this volume. Ritsu and Takano make me so happy. I cannot wait for Ritsu to say those three magic words. We go soooo close. The actions are there now I want the words. Glad we got our issues with Nao resolved. Ready to focus on growing our main couple's relationship together as opposed to the build up to them getting together. Ready for my babies to be happy.
Kisa and Yukina still remain my favorite couple. So glad we got to see them again this volume. I just wanna hug and squeeze their adorableness. More Kisa and Yukina!!
I’ve been reading this series for 12+ years and we are finally, FINALLY getting to the tone shift and feelings being reciprocated openly!!!!!! I’m so happy!!!! Although the series is technically over in Japan, we still have to wait another year or two for the last volumes to be translated and released (rip 😭) But it’s okay cause I’m excited! And will probs reread the entire series before the last volume hehehe
Volume 16 is probably one of the best volumes so far because Takano and Ritsu finally decided to talk properly. It took so long, but the wait was worth it. Ritsu's chapters were so pleasant to read because he finally expressed what he wanted to say to both Nao and Takano instead of just being pushed around and keeping everything to himself.
Kisa's and Nao's chapters were good too.
This volume also has my favorite cover art. It looks so pretty and neat.
Finally! Onodera has officially grown a pair, and, ALMOST, told Takano that he loves him. He made things clear to his best friend that, that is all they will ever be, and apologized for being a wishy washy coward. Now, he just has to sweep Takano off his feet, as he has rightfully requested. Something I'm kind of looking forward to seeing.
The grip this series has on me.....where on one hand I am over it, because the back and forth has gotten so much but on the other hand, I'm 12+ volumes in, I should at least see how things end.
