As the Rosewood’s newest owner, Opal Mayland secretly dreams of a quiet first day at the quaint, old inn. Unfortunately, her grandpa’s new fiancée, Eleanor, asks her to babysit an adorable Corgi. When Opal looks into the sweet dog’s big brown eyes, she finds that she can’t say no.
Frenzied barking and mischievous mayhem ensue, and soon the pregnant, princess pup and her jaw-dropping diamond collar are missing. It doesn’t help that Opal’s grandpa annoys his soon-to-be wife, and she calls off the wedding until the dog is found. Worse is that the best clues they have are from Aunt Kettle’s limited visions.
Lucas tries to help, but that only encourages the darkness inside him to grow stronger and leaves him uncertain of his future…which also means their future together.
Time is running out for the dog and the wedding. If Opal hopes to find the peppy pup, save the ceremony, and keep her boyfriend, she’ll need to conjure help from her trusted magic and her precocious familiar…and maybe the powerful, dark magic from an old-fashioned hex.

As the Rosewood’s newest owner, Opal Mayland is hoping to start out with a quiet day, but we all know that won’t happen. When a friend of her grandpa’s fiancée visits, Eleanor asks Opal to watch the pregnant Corgi. Things get hectic and Opal entrusts the dog to Aunt Kettle and the dog and its diamond collar go missing. Grandpa’s wedding is put on hold until the dog is found. Can Opal save the day and find the missing canine?
This is a good story line with likable characters. I also enjoyed the relationships of the people where we get to know them better. Grab your copy and join Opal in her search for clues.
Opal did it! She's now the proud owner of the Rosewood Inn. A resident ghost and excited tourists, would now be a constant in her life. Her grandpa John and Eleanor's relationship is moving forward, as is Lucas and Opal's. Eleanor is entertaining an old friend who has come to visit. Gabi grew up in Crystal Cove and has returned with her spoiled Corgi named Luna. Luna is set to deliver pups any day. The day is progressing normally for Opal. A few hiccups at the Inn, one annoyed kitten whose space has been invaded by a very pregnant pooch and before you know it, Opal finds herself dog sitting. Running an inn is hectic, so Opal drops Luna off with her roommate/psychic Aunt Kettle and it isn't long before Luna and her diamond studded collar go missing. Opal is hot on the trail, much to Lucas's dismay. When it comes to all matters regarding Opal, Lucas doesn't have any control where's she's concerned and that could be a problem. I JUST LOVE REVISITING THIS TOWN AND ITS RESIDENTS ! JUST WHEN YOU HAVE A SUSPECT IN YOUR SIGHTS, YOU THINK YOU KNOW BUT YOU REALLY DON'T, CINDY MAKES SURE OF IT🙂 AS SOON AS I FINISH READING ABOUT CRYSTAL COVE, OPAL AND LUCAS AND I FIND MYSELF WANTING MORE ! ! ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK !
Opal is now the new owner of the Rosewood, she is exited and nervous. Opal and Lucas go over to her grandfather's house due to his surprise. They meet Eleanor's good friend Gabi and her dog. Things almost go off track with her Grandfather's proposal. Opal was asked to watch Gabi's dog Luna for a little while. But when they take too long, she asks someone else to watch the dog. When the dog goes missing, everyone is going to try to find her. Opal has to find the dog quickly before everyone's life changes.
This was a good book. I really enjoy Opal and Lucas together. I am not sold on the grandfather and Eleanor being together. I am looking forward to the next book
Everything seemed to be going smoothly in Opal's life, but like life itself, nothing stays the same for long. A missing dog, a distraught friend, a conflicted boyfriend - it never rains but it pours.
I have read all the 6 books from the start of the series and it just keeps getting better! I really like the friendships that Opal has, with her roommates and even Gideon and of course, yummy Lucas and Bandit are special. I love the growing bond between the lot of them and even Grandfather is mellowing - all good!!
I love all these characters, it is so much fun to see them interact and the come together as family and couples. So many more story lines that I would like to see happen. The mystery was ok, kind of had it figured out at the beginning.
Sorry to see this series end. I wanted to find out more about the characters and her familiar's training. I loved the mysteries. Nice blend of paranormal meets sleuthing.
Loved the characters and the kitten, of course! Would like to see a follow up series to this. Would also like to see Cindy Stark books available on Audible--I would buy them all.
Again Opel finds trouble. But Lucas saves the day. Opens grandfather gets his love and all ends well. The Inn is doing well as Opel settles in as owner.
I loved this book! Opal and Lucas discover that they need time to figure out things. How does Damien fit into this? Opal's grandfather and his lady love have plans. Just a great story!
A Charming Magical Adventure in Cozy Seaside town of Crystal Cove!!!
Hexes and Hematite is Book 6 and final book in the Crystal Cove Cozy Mysteries Series and it is the first book that I read by Cindy Stark and I really love it, I don't want it to end, there should be more mysteries for Opal and Lucas to solve. Cindy Stark is now my favorite author and I need to go back and start reading this series from Book 1.
Opal Mayland is a witch and a new owner of the Rosewood Inn in Crystal Cove; the inn is still haunted by the ghost of Mrs. Bourgeois, the old owner. Lucas Keller, Opal's boyfriend, is an assistant police chief and also a half demon, he has beast inside him.
Opal and Lucas go to Opal's police chief paranormal hunting grandfather, John Winston, who is also Lucas's boss house for a very special dinner because her grandfather plan to propose to his witch girlfriend, Eleanor. There is another guest at dinner, Gabriele (Gabi) who is Eleanor's best friend just arrive in town for a visit and she has Luna, a yappy sandy-haired Corgi who is pregnant and about ready to deliver her babies.
On Opal's first day at the inn as an owner, Gabi & Eleanor ask Opal's help to look after Luna while they go to the spa, Opal has to reluctantly agree since she has full day ahead of her and a mayor is visiting soon. After an accident that delay Gabi & Eleanor arriving back and the ruckus from Luna & Bandit, Opal's adorable sassy kitten familiar. Opal has no choice but to leave Luna at her house with Aunt Kettle, Opal's powerful crazy old psychic roommate and also Penelope-Opal's best friend's aunt. Chaos starts when Luna with her new diamond-encrusted collar is gone missing. What happen to Luna?? Does someone taking her or she just run off on her own?
The frustration, the upsetting and arguments of Luna's missing is starting to destroy the newly engaged couples relationship, the wedding is on hold. Opal is trying hard to help smooth things over. While looking for Luna, there was an accident that Lucas need to rescue Opal but doing so is causing his beast to come out.
Now beside searching for the missing Corgi, Opal is worrying about Lucas's beast and wonder what will happen if his beast completely break free and the only person who might have the answer is Lucas's uncle, Gideon, whom Lucas wants nothing to do with him.
This is a very fun lighthearted paranormal cozy mystery with delightful characters, I really like Opal, she is a level-headed person, and very compassionate, she can sense people's mood and she's a good person who try to help solve the problem, making people around her happy she always think about other people's well being. It's full of humor, mystery, paranormal and romance with a fast-paced story line that flows well and keeps you entertained as you try to figure out the mystery. I highly recommend this series to any paranormal cozy mystery fans.

Opal and Lucas, her boyfriend/cop, along with others at the Inn are searching for a missing corgi who is pregnant. Her cat familiar is fun., as well as her aunt, who was watching the dog while she was busy with the Inn. The characters are quite varied, each with own special gifts. The storyline is very entertaining and grabs you right from the start. Relationships are tested. I have loved this series from the start and this book does not disappoint. Well done.
