Sterling Monedero returns in the blazing second installment of the bestselling Cowboy Necromancer series!
More action, more Southwestern mysticism, more amazing superpowers, and deeper intrigue as Sterling suddenly finds himself alone in a brand new environment, his team much closer than he thinks. It's going to be one hell of an adventure as Sterling not only takes on the Godwalkers, but is actually joined by one...
Harmon Cooper is the author of over sixty fantasy works. His bestselling series include Pilgrim, War Priest, Cowboy Necromancer, and Tokens and Towers.
His series, The Feedback Loop, is one of the earlier GameLit works first published in 2015. An earphone award winner for the series Death's Mantle, Harmon won the LitRPG/GameLit Audiobook of the Year award for Sacred Cat Island, narrated by Legends and Lattes author Travis Baldree.
Harmon write progression fantasy, cultivation fantasy, and LitRPG/GameLit.
I've been waiting very patiently for this book to be written, and was actually wondering if I had far too high estimations for this work. I honestly didn't think that 'Infinite Dusk' could be improved upon. It doesn't happen very often, folks, but... I was proved wrong. The author never ceases to amaze me.
Sterling Monedero has no idea where he is. But, he has a feeling that he's not supposed to be on his own. So he sets off to put his team back together again, if that's possible, meeting some colourful and exceedingly horrible characters along the way.
This is another fabulous Harmon Cooper adventure and you will NOT believe the twists and surprising revelations between these pages. No joking. I truly hope that no reviewer gives the game away and puts too much information in their writing. PLEASE DON'T. I think I went through every possible emotion that I could. I'm not embarrassed to say that I had tears in my eyes on many occasions, and there was a couple of times where I was genuinely happy for our cowboy necromancer.
It's a big book but, shee-it, you will be turning the pages as quickly as our Roxie girl can shoot her gun (and that's damned fast). Great characterisations, amazingly atmospheric writing, excellent storyline, plot and world building. I loved the haikus, too. A wonderfully exciting journey that will keep you transfixed to the pages and in 'To Hell With The Housework and The Other Half's Meals' mode!
Am I the only one who wants a badge/button with "Let's Git!" on it?
I chose an ARC of this work from a selection, which I then voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.
The second installment to the Cowboy Necromancer series was an interesting read. It was a slow paced read but we got to learn more about the characters and the powers they each have.
I did wish that the action scenes we got were longer. We got sometimes chapters of the characters travelling and only half a chapter of battle scenes. It did throw off the pacing at times.
I adore the history aspects that Harmon Cooper has added to this series. The characters are fabulous and I adore the found family we have in this series.
I can't wait to see what happens next in this series!
Great second book, lots of action and character development, beautiful scenery, laughs and tears. I love Sterling and all the crew. Cooper certainly knows how to hook a reader and keep them interested. I normally do not care for post-apocalyptic stories, but this one has me wrapped around its little finger. Can't wait to get back to the desert. I received the ARC for this book and wished to leave a review.
“This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis. I hate trying to define my enjoyment and describe facets of it that would appeal to someone else. It is simply not my style. But for the sake of those fishing for clues:
Character development: good Game elements: minimal Harem elements: none Tone: good blend of seriousness and humor, some unexpected twists in this one.
I will happily discuss the book with you on Goodreads if you are so inclined. As always, I am open to debates and arguments, but also vain enough to seek acknowledgement, so feel free to roast me or applaud my efforts. Either is acceptable, because if you are paying attention to me then you are at least considering the book. And THAT my friends is exactly why you see my comments here.
And just like that, Mr. Cooper decides to splice things up from then end of books 1 to the beginning of book 2 but man what a terrific way to carry forward Sterling and company's quest! Although the RPG Gaming is less pervasive - hey so everyone finally figured out how to farm - our cowboy leader's increased traits and class ranks do come into play over time! While Book 1 may have given us great characters, good villains, an awesome anti hero pepper farmer and lots of almost non-stop RPG action, Mr. Cooper reminds us with book 2 that he is not a noob when it comes to penning a compelling story now that he has power leveled his characters! Main mission now accomplished, I am eager to see Sterling get on with those side quests plus 1 ... So, Mr. Cooper, how long you gonna keep us in suspense before unleashing book 3??
Good book. Too slow though. Doesnt have enough character development for how slow it is, but still comes through as a good book. Good imagery, fun mix of characters. Thankfully it's not sexist (i worry about that with this genre, because most of them have been). Good mix of male and female characters, the female characters have personalities and don't suffer for no reason, and there is no sexual content.
it's just a fun story (kinda like a slice of life, but also on a walking quest kinda story) with some mystery and some twists.
The audiobook has a good narrator. Will eventually listen to the third one. But not a book id rush out to complete. But it is enjoyable as a casual listen during crafts.
Well, here I am, deeply submerged in book 2 ,and I'm pleased to announce that things haven't calmed down a single mite! Everyone's favorite Cowboy Necromancer starts this next step of the adventure by somehow waking up in a strange land of salt,no idea how he got there, and the friends he fought so hard to reunite ,vanished! So he does what any self respecting pepper- farmer- out -for -revenge does :hits the dusty trail to re-find his comrads and annihilate those damn GodWalkers; picking up an unexpected friend or two along the way and kicking plenty of butt! It's a great second book to the series!
Harmon Cooper tells great stories, no matter what genre he chooses to write in.
I'm not normally a LitRPG kind of reader, usually finding that style of storytelling rather lazy and predictable, but Harmon Cooper isn't your usual storyteller. I read the Cowboy Necromancer books after quite enjoying his Pilgrim series, and I'm really glad I did. Exciting and engaging, they are definitely worth a read. Although I wish he would have done a little more with Utah, I have nothing really negative to say. Just kick back and enjoy. I know I did.
Well, this one was better than the first. There's more clarity about the world and what's going on. And there are even more action scenes than the first novel.
The book begins with Sterling suddenly appearing on the Utah salt flats. He doesn't know where he is or what's up. He was just teleported there.
Then one of the alien spacecraft appears, the normally skyscraper-sized construct is only a few feet tall.
This is a great follow on to the first book - expanding the world building and personalities. The character development continues logically (characters don't act contrary to previous actions) yet there are some major twists that really throw a charge into the story! While the ending is satisfactory for a second book - there are unresolved issues that promise a lot of action to come.
Who doesn't love a cowboy and although a little Pepper obsessed this has lots of action, some cool facts on the area and best of all a story that grows really well into a engrossing read and a fascinating set of characters even more than book 1. A hell of a ride and even better an emotional tale that showcases Coopers talents as a writer well.
A well done sequel that has a good amount of world building in a post apocalyptic world. The action scenes are well done as the character progression is handled well. I enjoyed reading about the different parts of the world the characters travel through. I was given a advanced copy of this book for a honest review.
I stumbled across this series, and I have to say, this is one fantastic find. The first book was fun, built good characters, was packed with action, and started a quest. The second book upped the ante. We even go a little deep here, emotionally. I'm loving this series. Given I thought it would be a bit of a wildcard purchase, I couldn't be happier.
Just as exhilarating as book one. Beep has taken the gang to another part of the USA and the reasons why are slowly revealed. The genuinely unexpected twists take this to a new level. Wasn't altogether sure, initially, if this was as good as the first in the series but, on getting to the climax, I reckon this is better. Great writing.
This is a great follow-up to a really good series. I didn't care much for the immediate change in location and baddies, but it turned out spectacular! I really like the mysteries sprinkled throughout and the payoffs to those mysteries even more. Sterling's lack of loot goblin is a bit annoying though. like seriously, loot EVERYTHING! 👍🏽👍🏽
Mr cooper has written a great continuation in this saga. Accurate depictions of the locale help to cement your immersion and the tightly written narrative keeps the pages turning.
I totally heart this series for the amazing setting, the unusual characters, and the whole vibe of the post-apocalyptic Southern USA seen through the lens of a poetic necromancer cowboy 🤠
While the book has a rough start and some of the twists towards the end aren't to my taste, this sequel is a solid progression for the story of Sterling and his posse as they travel to battle the Godwalkers.
I lpve the character development in this second installment! There's plenty of action, and I love all the plot twists! Epic ending! I only wish there was more because of how awesome this book is!
