Nikolai is a dangerous hitman. I call him my protector.

I met Nikolai Antonov the night he rudely demanded to see my ID in his Manhattan nightclub.
Apparently, not paying the cover charge is grounds for immediate expulsion.
I told him to take his demands where the sun don't shine and ran.
Except one day, Nikolai swings by my ice cream parlor with an offer I can't refuse.
He needs a fake boyfriend and he'll pay my college tuition to do it.
Nikolai is extremely convincing and soon, I find myself burdened with very real feelings for a hitman in the Russian mob.
This stone-cold killer is everything I've ever wanted, but how will Nikolai react when I call him my protector?

Hitman Daddy is a full-length MM Mafia love story with an age gap, lots of laughs, and a super-sweet, totally swoony, give-me-ALL-the-feels HEA. Coming June 25!

I mean yeah.

So I read the prequel or short story or intro or whatever you wanna call it. I think that was last week. I was totally underwhelmed by it and almost skipped this one. The editing was horrid. The story line was nonexistent. The dialogue was meh. It was kinda a mess. The problem here is that there’s just not a lot of books out there in this sub cat. So of course I picked this one up. It’s not great. It’s really not even that good. However, the characters are the draw. Hot mafia assassin daddies? Gold mine potential. The author didn’t deliver to be honest. So much could have been done with this that was just skimmed over. Same dialogue and plot issues but the editing was improved so there’s that. Will I read the next one? I mean, yeah. Again, sub category scarcity. Will I drop it mid read in a hot second if a better book presents itself? Yeah again. Will I ever read these again or recommend them based on content? Nope.

It's too early to hit me with a
"2 weeks later"
when they've talked twice... they went on 3 ice cream dates without me... T.H.R.E.E! how they heck am I supposed to feel something for them when I'm being left out. I hate being told what happened with a shitty recap.
I'm not feeling any chemistry between them anyway.

Umm yeah, I don't know where to start.

I wanted to give this book 1 star, but it gets an additional star for the Daddy/little kink, because there aren't many books with it.

Now, this was supposed to be a mafia romance. Where the hell is the mob then? They were supposed to be the Bratva, but it didn't feel like it. Nothing mafia like happens, except the "mortal enemy" of the MC blows up his business and stuff like that. He didn't feel like a big bad scary hitman. He kept saying he was made for killing, murder, death etc, but where was it???? Only when Christian was kidnapped we got a glimpse of that.

Second, why did we need to know how much money the guy spends on things all the fucking time? We get it. He has money. He's rich. He's a billionaire. Move on. And although he's so damn rich, he had to get loans? He couldn't pay them back?? Wtf???!

Third, the writing. Oh sweet baby Jesus, the writing. I cringed so hard. It was like a teenager wrote this.

Fourth, you write a book with Daddy/boy-little kink in it, I expect the sex scenes to be mind-blowing. They weren't. They were boring boring.

Long story short I ended up skimming most of the book. I might read the next one sometime, just to see if there's an improvement.

This started great. I wanted to wrap Christian up myself and for him to find the perfect Daddy. Eventually I just wanted the book to be over but couldn't quite wrap my head around why until I realised it was written like explained jokes. You know what I mean, once you explain a joke it basically well sucks.
This book is written in dual first person present and I always forget how much I can struggle with this. The feelings kept getting reiterated, everything was explained and nothing was really felt?
Christian's thinking is extremely black and white and Nikolai and his family did not read particularly mob-y. In addition the angst felt entirely manufactured and misplaced. Glad to have tried a new author though!

What I enjoyed:
- The insta-love was sweet
- Christian's love for dinosaurs was sweet
- Christian loving how small Nikolai can make him feel

"Will you play blocks with me and teach me dino things? Will you tuck me into bed at night and kiss my toes to keep me cozy and warm?" Nikolai runs the callused pad of his thumb across my trembling lower lip. "Fuck yes. I'll be the best loving Daddy you've ever dreamed of in your life. I'll play with you every night." (p. 130)

Some quotes that might manage to explain better what I tried to:
"I'm not the same man I was when I met Christian at Crave. Christian changed me. He helped me become someone who cares about something more than getting jobs done. In transforming me into a man with feelings, Christian let me become the person I used to be before this job took my soul. I won't let Christian down." (p. 209)

These kinds of long thoughts happen mid-conversation all the time.

So my main gripe was writing style which failed to convey their feelings properly to me and left me annoyed at times. I was expecting the plot to be ridiculous and the insta-love to be sweet so this could work well for others for whom the writing style works! :)

NSFW infos:
- One man, bigger, out and gay, mafia, tops, Daddy (39)
- One smaller man, out and gay, virgin, bottoms, little (19)
- playing together
- talking about consent and limits

Wanted to like it more

I really wanted to like it more but there were some glaringly huge issues with this book. Granted I wrote this review at 68% and I'm gonna try to power thru the end but not sure I'll make it.
One, this author can't keep their facts straight to save their life and two, these must be the 2 dumbest MC's ever.
It's like these 2 are blaring their kinky side to each other, at least Christian is to Nikolai and he seems so surprised he's a Little. Um, he called you Daddy, asked about milk in a bottle, and told you he loves stuffies. What more do you need.
And Christian is all like oh, he's not mad I called him Daddy, uh...dude already told you he has a Daddy kink and had a boy before.
Plus all the little facts getting messed up are annoying. Chrisitan told Nikolai he never had a boyfriend or relationship a few times and yet he ask him later about his past relationships. Even little things like his room had pink wallpaper, then all of a sudden it's blue. Get your facts straight!

Sidenote, I don't understand why Nikolai can't be a cold blooded hitman and a Daddy at the same time, it's kinda hot....

After reading the title, I was excited to read the book.
I was very disappointed. Nikolai was not portrayed like a hitman. He was betrayed as someone weak and touchy-feely. The author kept mentioning how much his possessions cost. There was hardly any Mafia situations in the book. It got to the point where the entire book was basically about the two characters touchy-feely feelings. The only good part was when Christian was kidnapped and then Nikolai really acted like a mafia hitman. But even then he stopped beating up the bad guy to run to Christian's side. The part where he went to his father and beat him up was very good but then they left you hanging why was his father locked in the closet and fed scraps in his penthouse? I finished the book because I love Mafia romances and I was hoping it would get better but it did not. I would not recommend this book. I hope the author gets better with book number two.

Are you kidding me?

I honestly don't have anything against the baby - daddy kink. This story was just so outside the realm of believability it wasn't even amusing. A Russian, gay mobster, into that kind of kink? I doubt it.

The whole story premise was so outlandish I couldn't stomach it. I can take reading about kinks as long as they at least fall into the realm of actual reality. I stopped reading after Ch 2, skimmed through, then stopped altogether after checking out the sexy scenes, which I couldn't handle any better than this beautiful, muscular Russian being verbally assaulted by his own father for being gay. One star.

Unapologetically filthy and incredibly sweet combined, I am enamoured with Nikolai and Christian. Perfectly blended little play and mob activity that is cavity inducing but it makes it that much more special and unashamedly enthralling. There is so much love and just plain niceness here with the exception of the slight bit of aggro at the end i just fell in love with Christian and his mix of shyness/vulnerability and Nikolai's protective nature/ruthlessness. Looking forward to the next book and more of this world.

When Nikolai first saw Christian at his nightclub, he just knew he had to meet this young, beautiful man who had caught his attention. Christian couldn't believe that the tall, dark and handsome man with a Russian accent would be interested in someone like him. When Christian's life is revealed to be in danger, Nikolai must convince Christian to be his fake boyfriend and attend a family event to make sure he is properly protected. But what will happen if this fake relationship soon turns into a real one? Will the secrets both men keep stop their fledgling relationship before it can even really begin?

Hitman Daddy is an exciting first book in the Russian Protectors series. (FYI - an intro to the Russian Protectors universe, New York Daddy, is available free) It was fun to read about Christian and his bratty little ways. The angst factor in the book was low as both of the main characters tried to figure out how to let each other know they were into age play. Finally, it was rewarding to see Christian and Nikolai's relationship change from a fake one into a serious one.

The author did a great job of mentioning consent in the book. Consent between the two main characters was spelled out, and it was refreshing to see the topic explicitly noted rather than hinted at. In addition, the author did a great job of leaving bread crumbs on what couples may make appearances in future novels.

So disappointing

The blurb made this book sound like it would be great, but I just couldn't finish it. I enjoy a good Mafia /anti hero, but when the first 10% or so of the book the author has the character repeatedly saying how ruthless & vicious he is & then the first chance to show it, the character becomes a marshmallow because he sees Christian right behind his target & Can't pull the trigger in case he traumatise the "angel". Then the way he gets Christian to be his fake fiance is pathetic. Christian is just as contradictory. He wants a loving, caring Daddy, sees Nikolai at the club & can tell he's dangerous just by looking at him, but wants to crawl his lap & call him Daddy. There is no real connection felt between the two MC's. I skipped to the wedding about 40% in & Christian is walking around calmly telling all the family how he knows they are Mafia. Really?? It felt like the author couldn't decide how to portray each character, as they were walking talking contradictions. Wish I could get my money back. Won't be buying any more

It was a lot

This was definitely a mafia romance hopped up on a megaton of sugar. Nikolai presented himself as this hardened hit man but he melted with Christian. Which I was fine with. I love that his boy got to see a side of him that no one else did. Christian was a sweet little who was a good boy for his daddy. Sexy times were sexy, albeit slightly unbelievable. Again, I had no problems with that at all.

Overall, the actual story was fairly good. It was the brand dropping that killed it for me. I don’t care what kind of car Nikolai drove, or that his suit was brand name and expensive. That was a little overdone. We got that Nikolai was rich, we didn’t need the name dropping over and over again. I could do without that aspect in the future.

2.5 STARS

This book would have been a great short story. I feel like half of it was extra. There’s a fantasy element that’s kind of of putting, just the conversations and interactions are unrealistic and kind of ridiculous. BUT I did read it all, and Niko and Chris where hot at times. And I am curious about Igor, so I rounded it up to 3. This author has a long way to go, but there’s something there.

Hitman Daddy

I was excited to read this but I really didn't like it. The characters are pulling out phones and texting people that are right there....in the middle of conversations...and arguments...it was strange. Just could not get into it at all.

Fun story, but I have trouble with the actions of some characters being believable

Nikolai and Christian were a delightfully silly couple. I’m not sure that I completely understood why Nikolai had to change, if he truly enjoyed his role in the family. If he was already looking for a way out, that’s one thing, but I would think that Christian would be able to love the Daddy that he fell in love with.

Wouldn’t going back on his sworn word (talking about Nikolai’s dad) do more damage to the family than any thing that Nikolai was doing? Everything I know about the mafia comes from books or TV, but isn’t it supposed to be a point of pride for the leaders of these families that they never lie, and never go back on a vow? I would think that this action to ‘save’ Nikolai for the family would actually result in his sons realizing how little their father’s word means, and take him out.

I'm not a fan of mafia fiction, but I admit, I was excited to read this. And my god it was bad.

There is SO MUCH repetition. It was like their thoughts and dialogue were just copy pasted, and at times there were two or three sentences to describe one thing.

None of the mafia people could hold a normal conversation. They didn't speak - they growled, and snarled, and threatened. Even the scenes with just Nikolai and Christian, Nikolai growls his words. It was right there on the page, and it was weird.

There was next to nothing mafia related. There was very little DDlb content. This book was pretty much just an advert for expensive brands, and reminding us how much was spent on different items.

Also, why does a billionaire need to get loans for his business ventures, and apparently struggle to pay people/banks back?

I don't know. This book was almost laughably bad. There's literally a part of the book where Christian is like "he's a liar, he's a manipulator, but he has beautiful eyes." Hahahaha what. I admit, I'm kind of interested to skim through the next book to see how it rates compared to this one. But I doubt I'll be doing that anytime soon.

Christian is a cute little bratty boy who attracts the attention of Nikolai, a mafia hitman. Nikolai will do any thing to protect Christian especially when he unintentionally catches the eye of a competitive mafia family. I loved Christian!! Such a little bratty, little negotiator!! I loved it when they were finally honest with each other, things got hot and steamy then!! The story was really well written, highly recommend!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I enjoyed reading this book. It had thrills, love, romance, and how I couldn't stop reading about Nickolai and Chrstrian's story, and how Nickolai was open to the change that was happening to him from meeting and loving Christian. I highly recommend this book to my friends who like Mafia romance and the daddy/little kink, etc.

Hitman Daddy is the first book in the Russian Protectors series by Aster Rae. This is the story of Nikolai and Christian. I liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, fun, some murder (duh maffia) and well written. I'm really curious about the next book.

It says I finished it, but I didn’t. I just couldn’t even with this one. I feel like I’ve read every daddy/boy story ever written so I was stoked for Hitman Daddy. Queue disappointment now :( The dialogue was lacking and the internal dialogue / supporting details were completely unrealistic. The mention of a $40,000 suit blazer was so outlandish I literally stopped reading to google ‘most expensive suit blazer’; surprise- it’s not $40,000 or even a quarter of that. So many details were uber exaggerated or so far into left field I thought more about the exaggerations that the actual plot (who’s manning the hoses?!). The book has so much potential, I mean a mafia Daddy and a sweet boy? C’mon this could go so well! But I had to throw in the towel at about 40% because the writing was reminiscent of a grade schooler pretending to be a MM Kink writer. Hopefully a few more writing classes and a better editor will help improve the authors skills before the next book hits the shelf.

Aster Rae, is in fact, more palatable when they write a full-length novel. Editing is better than New York Daddy, easy read that it doesn't require a lot of brain power. Still hate the name dropping of brands and prices, it just felt like I was being flexed on by characters for no reason.

This was instalove but it made sense in this type of writing style and genre. I liked the fake boyfriend plot and the breadth for that development. This wasn't very memorable but it wasn't so horrible either. I will probably read the rest because I'm a sucker for the idea of mafia Daddy/little dynamics.

This is a fun Daddy story which I enjoyed. There were parts that I thought were very unrealistic but really that’s the nature of the genre. Still overall an enjoyable read.

Horrible

The plot is ok but everything else is terrible. It like a tween wrote this. But I hope the author keeps writing and getting feedback so that the stories can be better.

Needs Proofreading

The characters are nice. As a little, I would love to have a play date with Christian, he seems absolutely adorable. The plot is decent. The book has great potential.

However, the writing needs quite a bit of work. Firstly, I would suggest the author take a few English classes (and pay attention during class). This book reads like a Reddit post that was just uploaded to Amazon, not an actual written book. There are a lot of repetitive phrases, and apparently the author doesn't know any adjectives besides "AF". It was repetitive AF.
Secondly, they could also use a decent proofreader and an editor. It is rife with spelling and grammer errors indicative of a first draft. Also, just FYI, a paragraph in English should have a minimum of 4 sentences.
Lastly, (for now, my thumbs are tired) both of the main characters have the same speaking and thinking style. Considering how they are 20 years apart in age and one them (as the author mentions ad nauseum) is a "F** Russian mafia hitman" that would not be the case. If the author is going to write about couples from different backgrounds, then they should realize that not everyone is going to sound like a millennial rainbow fruit twink about to start college.
Seriously though to the author, I don't know if you readthe comments or not. My dad has written 2 books that are on Amazon and I know he checks the comments RELIGIOUSLY to see what people think. You have great potential, I don't know what I was expecting; but this was both good and disappointing at the same time. It is hard to be immersed in the story when so many things keep jumping out at you pulling you back out. I wanted this to be one of my go-to's. I love Daddy kink (as a baby, I crave it) especially protector Daddy. All I ask PLEASE if you're serious about being a writer, then take it serious. Hire a proofreader and an editor. Make it good... only you can.

Fluffy and achingly sweet

If you want something extremely sweet and easy to read this is probably for you.

Whilst not a bad book, I certainly finished reading it, it doesn’t hit all the areas I would have liked. It touches onto daddy/little/boy but it was surface level and almost made that the only part of Christians personality. I honestly believe if I had gotten to know Christian better I would have connected with the story much more than I did.
This book is also set in the Mafia and has a Hitman MC, honestly I wish we’d seen more of that. The achingly sweet other MC works just fine, but I would have liked to have seen a darker side in a Mafia novel. I’m not against one MC changing the other for the better, however there didn’t appear to be much personal growth or change from our Hitman, just a sudden urge not to do certain things and be ‘better’ man.
If you like insta-love (that’s what it felt like) then you’ll love this. If you don’t want to read a dark book, this is the book for you. Fluffiness and enough sweetness to give you cavities, whilst not what I was looking for it will be perfect for others.
This book itself is a debut I believe, seemed to be well edited and follow a path, I think it could have been developed much further and explored more character growth.

So I picked this up because it got recommended in a FB group on a post about soft boys x mafia men. I knew age play was a possibility but since I’ve always avoided it I let my curiosity get the best of me and read this.

First off, I’ll just say that the writing is pretty junior. A lot of repetition and things being told to us. This already wasn’t getting more than 3 stars but I thought I might enjoy this just for the sheer silliness of it. I did initially but the ending totally put me off. I’m not trying to yuck anyone’s yum but the combo of Christian being in “little space” and them having sex was already not for me but then some of the language was like just gross imo.

Like I said I’m not into age play so I won’t make an official rating on GR but by the end it’s probably a 2⭐️ read for me. Thankfully it’s short and the writing is so simple I flew through it. Here’s some of my favourite/least favourite quotes… you can decide for yourself if you want to try this.

🔸I'm not an anxious man. I'm a hitman.

🔸His life depends on me not revealing that I'm into Daddy kink.

🔸Save for that one time he nearly let an Italian mobster kill me, Nikolai is basically a perfect boyfriend.

🔸"Come for me." Nikolai lets out a growl as he bangs into me again and again. "My cummies!" I scream.

Hitman Daddy follows Christian, a Little, who has been looking for a Daddy, and Nikolai, who used to be a Daddy, but has become embroiled with his job as a hitman for his Mafia family. Nikolai spots Christian at a club, and fails to perform a hit. Facing his father's wrath, Nikolai tracks Christian down, and asks him to be his fake boyfriend to protect him. When they reveal their secrets to each other, will they both find exactly what they have both been searching for, with each other?
Hitman Daddy is an insta love story. Aster Rae did such a fantastic job writing a story full of warmth, sweetness, and a hint of danger and action. I adored Christian, and I loved that Nikolai accepted him for who he was, and embraced Christian's Little side. I really enjoyed the scenes with Christian's Little friends and Nikolai's family ones as well. Aster Rae did a wonderful job of investing me in them, and seeing them get HEA's as well. This book was exactly what I needed. Low Angst, Dinosaurs, ice cream, and two characters I was rooting for, all made this a great read for me!

I was excited to jump into this book as its a mafia story, which I love reading these themed stories. An okayish start to the book for Cristian and his friend being in the club Crave when they meet Nikolai. It’s a story of being in the wrong place at the wrong time that puts things into motion for them all. Attractions are instant for both characters. There is a lot of assumptions with what they “feel” at first meeting that didn’t mesh for me. The Fantasy Balloons in this as its called didn’t do anything for the book with the way it was written. Other things in this story I picked up I urred about and didn’t want to continue reading. I did love Christan’s character and he didn’t make it easy on Nikolai with the proposal idea with a counter deal of his own. The author has potential as a writer and can only get better as time goes.
Christan was 19 and wanted an older Daddy to care for him, enough to get fake Id’s and sneak into a club.Nikolai 20 years older is the owner for Crave and wanted his enemy, Luca dead

Christian meets Nikolai Antonov when he demands to see his ID (which is fake) in his Manhattan nightclub as Christian's babyface didn't look old enough to be there and so Christain ran. Then one day Nikolai appeared at his ice cream parlour with an amazing off - if Christian plays his fake boyfriend he will pay his college tuition for him. Unfortunately, Christain then starts to develop feelings for Nikolai who is actually a hitman for the Russian mob. The question is how will Nikolai react if Christian calls him Daddy?

I enjoyed this story even though the storyline is very well used with the fake boyfriend/fiance that then turns into the real one as they develop feelings for each other. I loved some of the members of the supporting cast and I'm sure we will see them collect their own hot looking Russian as the series develops. Easy to read and understand, this story does have some violence in it but nothing too graphic and certainly nothing to the two main characters. This book contains mature MM content with a BDSM-like DDLB relationship.
