Review: So, this is a personal thing, but I actually rated this one down because of the language in it. That's totally me and my opinion, obviously. This book was well written and pretty cute. It was a quick read, only took me about two days, and a hilarious look at boyfriends and high school. The voice is fun and I liked the friendships and relationships. Just a couple of what I've been calling "twitches" lately. There are some things that are not so believable. The teens in the book use email and IM a lot, which struck me as odd. Most of the teenagers I know (little sister and cousins) almost exclusively use text and Facebook. (And Instagram as I've been told is the "in" thing right now...) Also, in the end it seemed like everything got tied up too nicely and Brooke doesn't get any blowback for any of her poor choices through the book, although I still dig the way it ended. I needed a resolution between the two boys in the book, especially with the boy she ends up with instead of just the magically happily ever after of them ending up together. Still, fun and worth it.

Language - 4/5 (Not because of pervasiveness, but because of the language used. God is used in vain repeatedly, which just bugs me a lot personally. Jesus is also used in vain twice. Several uses of H and a 1(?) use of A)

Worth Reading...
I heard just your average celebrity and loved it. This story also was a fun story to read, the author did a bit of a different type of story in this,the characters where a little more serious in this. I think the author has a lot of fun with her stories.

She should have just said pink wasn't her color... For someone so smart, I must say, the main character, Brooke, was rather clueless. All in all, it's a pretty good story with an almost comical ending. Go band nerds!

A fun read for fans of YA chick lit
When seventeen-year-old Brooke Thomas is invited by Cassie Deegan, the most popular girl in school, to join a secret club, Brooke eagerly anticipates that membership will greatly improve her lowly social status. But at the initiation meeting, she learns that the group is called the Boy Swap Club, and the only reason Brooke has been invited to join is because she has "a desirable boyfriend," a fellow band geek Brook has been dating for four months. Brooke agrees with the assessment about her boyfriend Chris, whom she regards as quite handsome, though she hadn't until now realized that the popular girls shared her opinion. Confused and overwhelmed by what is at stake in the Boy Swap Club, Brooke allows herself to be pressured into signing a pledge that consists of four startling rules:
1) Never hog your boyfriend all to yourself.
2) Never get mad at a sister member for dating your guy.
3) Don't go all the way with any of the swapped guys.
4) And never, ever, fall in love with any guys involved in the swap.
Within days of committing herself to the club, Brooke painfully discovers that these rules have concrete consequences when Cassie starts hitting on Chris, and Brooke's assumption that her boyfriend would never cheat on her is proved horrifyingly incorrect.
This book reads like a classic plot for a comic teen movie such as "Mean Girls," and I can easily imagine it optioned to become a film. As is typical for chick lit, the story focuses almost exclusively on girl power rather than romance, though there is a bit of romance in a significant subplot. There are many humorous moments as mild-mannered Brooke becomes the "worm that turned," working hard to outwit Cassie and beat her at her own game.
Fans of YA chick lit will find this an entertaining read.

It's official. I'm a Kristina Springer fangirl. THE BOY SWAP delivered in the same way THE PAPARAZZI PROJECT did, only with a little more meat this time around. Both of these stories revolve around a message that is subtly delivered throughout the novel. They're important messages that girls specifically would benefit from learning early in their life and because of that fact, I think this book would be a great one to share with younger readers of the YA genre.
I can't think of one thing I would have wanted to see play out differently in this story. Brooke is that cool girl just on the outside of the ring of popularity with a boyfriend that is a hottie, hottie, mo-bobbie. The most popular girl in the entire universe has her sights set on said hottie of a boyfriend and invites Brooke into the exclusive Boy Swap Club. Once Brooke becomes a member of this exclusive club (with highly fashionable scarves!) she must be okay with other members dating her boyfriend. Sounds a little weird, right? *shrugs* It probably is, but it also makes for a really fun read. See, the boyfriends have NO IDEA that their girlfriends have okay'd members of this club to date them. Brooke and her boyfriend, Chris, have a strong relationship and watching how this new "twist" effects that relationship is ridiculously entertaining. It's the reason I had to read this in one sitting.
Springer nails those awkward, roller coaster feelings of high school. I saw a little bit of myself in Brooke and was glad to see that she learns the lesson Springer brings to the story with a whole lot of grace. Yay, Brooke!

Kristina Springer is one of those writers that you know when you pick up one of their books you are going to be transported back in time to when life was maybe simpler but maybe more complicated as well. What in the world am I talking about?
Why, high school of course!
I know when I pick up one of her books, I am going to get a really fun and light read that will make me smile and make me remember all those crazy (and fun!) times in high school. When social standing was everything. When friends were plenty but true friends were sometimes hard to come by. When that certain someone would finally look your way or talk to you in the hall and it made your whole day and you were grinning like an idiot for the rest of it. When boys came and went like it was nothing and what to wear the next day was the worst possible dilemma you had to think about.
Springer has a way of making all of that come back to life and make it fun again, make it nostalgic while still delivering a really fun and entertaining read that will be something perfect to cleanse your pallet after a long drawn out story or a series that never ends. They are exactly the kind of in between reads we all need on our book shelves.
This was such a sweet and cute story and a great look into what we are willing to share and to give up to be who we think we want to be, only to realize that sometimes, what is one the other side, isn't always greener or better. That what we have right in front of us and who we already are, is exactly who and where we should be.

A fast read about a girl who joins a group of popular girls who are secretly dating everyone else's boyfriends to be in an elite secret social club. I did not like the main character. Brooke is lame for wanting to loan her boyfriend to other girls. I was so annoyed with her naïveté. I mean clearly Brooke was only invited so that Cassie could have her boyfriend, but Brooke is so desperate for popular friends she can't see it. I didn't like that Chris ended up being a cheater. It's never confirmed. I think I would have preferred some kind of moment where Brooke confronted Chris about being such a dirt bag. I needed closure that she didn't need because she was too busy getting interested in Carter, Cassie's boyfriend.
Although it annoyed me at times, it did have swoon worthy moments. I liked how the birds were a representation of the relationship between Chris and Brooke. I loved the poetry and the way Carter let Brooke down. He really was a nice guy. Chris had his moments of wonderful if he hadn't been a two-timing jerk. Those bloomers though! I couldn't even deal! What a @55!!
Sigh! As a former band nerd, I just say that it was always those drummer boys breaking hearts and cheating. At least it was at my high school.
I would definitely read this one again.

Let me start with the positives. This is a quick read and has a nice smooth pace throughout. It never dragged for me. There are no confusing scenes or stilted dialogue. I also really liked the hero in the story, although I didn't care for how he handled a particular situation.
Negatives for me~ I didn't care for the main character of the story, and I didn't like that she never learned a lesson herself. She was very vindictive and wanted to place blame on everyone else. What about all she was doing wrong?
The dialogue seemed very immature, too - more fitting to middle schoolers. While this book is advertised for 13 and up and doesn't contain foul language, there are still a lot of references to sex. So, keep that in mind if you're purchasing for your young daughter.
Overall, I think the author is talented, and I would read more of her books. However, I didn't care for the story line in this one. I just didn't feel like lessons were learned where they should have been. I didn't see any redeeming qualities in the heroin.

Kristina Springer has done it again in “Boy Swap”! This book does a great job describing what high school is like, especially for girls. It centers on the age old issue of the “popular” versus the “not so popular” girls. It is interesting to learn how each group thinks the grass is always greener on the other side. And, to learn what a person will and will not do to become “popular”.
This is a book about high school friendship, loss of friendship, new friendship, old friendships and about learning what it is that is really important to you. It sends an important message to high school students. And, at the same time, Kristina describes all the characters and events with such reality and humor, you picture yourself right there at the football game playing all the games involved in high school relationships.
I have found my first Christmas present of the season for my granddaughter who will be entering the 9th grade next year!

I read this expecting a bit of a disaster that I might not actually finish, but was pleasantly surprised. The main character seems like the typical popularity seeking doormat at first, but then she starts to shake it off, along with some of her own self-limitations. I enjoyed the evolution of the characters and their relationships with eachother. The tech might seem slightly outdated, but books take time to write and publish, while tech related methods of communication evolve at lightning speeds--so don't judge too harshly. The only thing I didn't care for was the amount of teen materialism/wealth. I know it's about par for the course in fiction these days, but it is not something I could ever relate to. Ever hear the term "Kmart blue-light special"? The Turbolifter 3000 sounds amazing but expensive, along with all the other transformative bells and whistles. But the light boy-stalking and poetry t-shirt making were nice, relateable elements.
I'd recommend this for anyone who enjoyed the Ruby Oliver series.

I really enjoyed this book up until the end. It was slow in some parts, but I read through it to get to the good parts. I liked the characters and the back story was very interesting. What I didn't like was the all the sudden I love you's. It was cute and then it got rude. I really didn't like how it from I love you to happily ever after. I needed some sort of bridge to get there!! If the end of the story was as developed as the rest of the story, this might have been a 4 1/2 star book. I do recommend if you have some time and get this book for a good price.
Judging a book... 3 1/2/5 for the cover. The 3 stars are just for the cuteness of the cover alone. The cover gave away nothing to the story and didn't have me wanting to read it. Thanks to the synopsis I gave this book a chance.

At first I thought this was a silly idea for a book. Who joins a boyfriend swapping club? And for a scarf? Okay, that's a bit unfair, Brooke joins the club to boost her popularity, but it's still a silly reason to join a club that could risk your supposedly serious relationship. Anyway, I grew to like Brooke and her silliness in the end, and I even found myself hoping she'd out smart Cassie so I guess I enjoyed this in the end. Recommended for a very, very light read, if you're into YA contemporary romance.

I am so, SO glad I decided to finish this book. It seemed kind of painful at first, because the whole idea of a Boy Swap Club is just too awful. However, Brooke starts to really show her strong character and stands up for what he believes in. It's the perfect chick lit book. It has a unique concept, and makes you feel so good after you read it.

I didn't think I'd like this high school drama much when I started it, but it turned out to be OK. It was kind of cute, kind of funny, with an unrealistic HEA ending. Fairly tame - probably suitable for younger YAs.

Join the highly secretive and exclusive Boy Swap Club where the girls get to swap boyfriends (without the boys' knowledge) without consequence. What could possibly go wrong? It was quite ridiculous but fun.

Reading Boy swap was like finding a water while your in middle of Sahara well while dying of thirst. It is funny ,entertaining, witty and it is an adventure to read. In short words it is bloody awesome book for anyone who loves reading.

Awwww, this was such a fun and fluffy sweet read! And it’s a quick read, too! I started reading it last night and finished it early this afternoon. I’ve read The Paparazzi Project by this same author and enjoyed it so much, I had no qualms picking up Boy Swap. It was definitely worth it!

DNF - as per normal rules, 1 star for any book that fails to engage me to the end.
I'm amazed how many positive reviews it has and almost no negatives. I understand tastes vary, but still... Clearly has charms I cannot find.

really enjoyed this book it was funny witty YA novella I lol a lot at Brooke's plans so funny I loved her sassy mouth hates Chris what a douche bag but Carter yummy he's amazing
