An alpha torn apart, his heart stitched back together by the gentle hands of one sweet doctor’s assistant…

Dante Reid has never fit in with his pack of feral, dangerous alphas. He hates his own nature, and his monster of a father makes him question his very DNA. When the Reids leave him bleeding out at the edge of Grove pack lands, it’s their sweater-wearing leader who saves Dante’s life, but in the bright eyes of Doctor Grove’s assistant, Skye, he sees hope for his future, and a place he wishes he could belong.

For all his life, Skye Johnson has been treated like he’s made of china. As the only omega in the Grove pack with a chronic case of the mysterious Condition, his pack is fiercely protective of him. When a strange new alpha arrives in the clinic, the pack circles to keep him safe, but Skye can see more in Dante Reid than his name. And for once, it seems like an alpha might see Skye clearly too, for all that he has to offer and not for his chronic illness.

The condition has already torn apart Skye and Dante’s childhoods, but now the source of that threat rears its head, and wants to take what little they have left. Can they stop the Sterling Corporation and its master before it’s too late?

Cold Moon is a hurt-comfort werewolfy romance with one sad packless alpha searching for himself and a place to belong, one sick omega who’s even more sick of being underestimated, and all the breakfast sandwiches two wolves can eat, even if they are (blech) healthy, in a non-mpreg ABO world.

❝You’re a good person, and that’s a choice you make every day. That’s what defines us. Not the things we’re stuck with.❞

🄰 🅁🄴🅂🄾🅄🄽🄳🄸🄽🄶 '🄵🄸🄽🄴' 𝗦𝗢𝗢𝗢𝗢… 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗘… but idk… I just wasn't as into Cold Moon as the previous books in the series. Personally, I struggled to feel any connection between Skye and Dante. They liked each other because… reasons. I don't know, I just needed more.

🅰🅻🆂🅾 the plot stuff. I liked it. It was interesting, but I got the feeling that the authors wanted me to care more about who was poisoning the water than DanteSkye. Which, okay fine, but again I think they did a better job balancing the plot and romance in the other books.

🅃🄷🄰🅃 🅂🄰🄸🄳 I am 100% going to read the next in the series. I mean it's enemies-to-lovers, like DUH, of course I'm gonna be there.

While the romance between Skye and Dante was sweet and gentle, the conflict with Sterling Co went off the rails and straight into melodrama territory.

Did we really need another kidnapping? Another heat mating (which wasn't particularly sexy)?

The stories are becoming rather repetitive.

I'm not giving up on the series, but I'm glad the fifth book isn't out yet, as I need a break but am too compulsive to stop on my own.

Skye's and Dante's story follows the same structure like the previous books of the series: an unusual alpha is falling for an omega wolf who doesn't match the usual preconception. The alpha has to conquer his self-doubt while the omega has to deal with a real life situation that keeps him to believe relationship is an option but after asking the alpha to get him through his heat both are inseparable and the conflict of the 2nd story arch can be solved. So with the fourth installation it becomes a bit repetitive but the protagonist characters and their individual history makes that mating dance still enjoyable even more so while they are surrounded by all those familiar support characters. It's just that I would have appreciated if the authors did without using this overly used romance element of I'm-not-worthy of men-don't-communicate.

The main reason for the lackluster rating is based on how unrealistic the conflict with Sterling Corp is done. In the previous books I believed Sterling was something like Kraft Foods or Nestlé but here it looked more like a multinational family business without spin doctors or competent lawyers who could deal with the owner of an apple orchard without the CEO making a visit on his own. Might be because we don't get to see the effect all the Grove activities have on the werewolf population but I believe it's more that this kind of story does not match this small-town romance set-up. The solution then fit perfectly (only) into the romance set-up but nevertheless it felt constructed and unnecessarily rushed.

So I don't know yet if I need another book about the Grove pack – maybe just Rowan's story because beta wolves got terribly marginalized with the story focus on the other 2 categories.

This series is definitely one of my favourites from Sam and Waverly.

It has everything I enjoy in a paranormal romance - good world building, interesting characters and a strong plot which threads it all together.

This book focuses on Linden's young assistant at the client, Skye, who is an omega who has had The Condition since birth and has been very poorly all his fairly young life. As a result, the pack tends to still baby him and treat him like he's made of glass.

Except for Dante Reid, alpha son of the hated Reid pack who kidnapped Brook but a completely different type than his insane father.

Dante is the one who helped Brook escape, he's gentle, out of place in his own pack and afraid he'll not be left alone by those in the Grove pack who don't think he should still be alive.

This is a slow burn romance, which absolutely makes sense. Dante is almost dead when we first meet him, Linden saving his life, and he carries a weight of guilt on his shoulders.

What I loved best about this book is that both Skye and Dante bring out the best side of each other, they make choices which empower their own sense of self and are the support of the other is what makes them stronger.

I will also say, Sam and Waverly threw in a plot element I never saw coming and which left me jaw a-dropping and then, when I thought I might have an idea about where they were going with it, they did another out of left field switcheroo which, now I think about it, actually makes perfect sense and has me dying for book five!

Things also move along with the investigation into The Condition and we finally get more of a hint as to the sinister reasons behind it.

i still have many questions though and I definitely also need Rowan and Cliff to get their happy ending, plus I'm also intrigued by Dr Lawrence, who we meet in this book and I want more of Nick's story (Aspen's Navy SEAL buddy) so hurry up you two!

Like many readers of this series, I've been fascinated by Dante since he helped Brook escape from his murderous pack and Skye for being so resilient in spite of all the medical challenges he experienced and also simply because he seemed like such a sweetheart.

This book proved that all the opinions I had about these two was spot on.

They both had issues no doubt; Skye was literally and figuratively sick. First, he was of course sick due to the Condition affecting omega and literally sick of being babied by His pack. Dante's issues had more to do with his former pack and the issues that inevitablly came with growing in such an environment.

Despite all of the issues however, they were hands down the sweetest couple. Dante and Skye were clearly made for each other and I had a smile on my face whenever they interacted.

On the progress made with the investigations into the Condition, this book pretty much confirmed the Grove pack's suspicions and we finally got who the big bad was which made me super happy.

All is not over though as there's more work to be done and as such more books to come (which makes my greedy little book addict heart happy). With who the next couple is slated to be, I simply cannot wait!! 💃🏾💃🏾

“I just don’t want to hurt you.” Without thinking, even noticing, I’d closed the distance between us. My palm cupped his cheek, and his flushed lips fell open on a breathy laugh.
“You won’t.”
He made it sound so simple, but when I frowned, he shook his head. “You overthink everything, Dante. It’s sweet. And I guess I don’t mean you’ll never hurt me, but I do know that you wouldn’t do it on purpose. Little hurts—the kind I’ll always be able to forgive.”

I’m really liking the turn this series is taking. The balance of romance and action. All the new discoveries about the Condition each installment brings. And after reading that the next book, Strawberry moon, is going to be enemies-to-lovers my excitement level couldn't be higher. I can’t wait to have it in my hands.

description

Since Black Moon I’ve been wondering if Dante was going to have his own book. His appearance was brief but unforgettable. What I didn’t know for sure was who could be the mate suitable for him. But after reading this installment, I couldn't have thought of someone better for Dante than Skye. They just complimented each other so perfectly.

description

We already knew that Dante’s father wasn't the best wolf, well, his entire pack actually. But discovering Skye’s mother's behavior towards him was shocking, undermining his self-esteem just for selfish reasons. It’s remarkable they end up being the cutest with those examples in their lives growing up. And I’m glad this plot wasn't overused, and the story was focused on their relationship and overcoming their insecurities together.

The son of the enemy. An over sheltered omega. The sweetest of the slow burns. Can’t wait for the next book of this wonderful series!

I enjoyed this one the most out of all of them so far, with the first book being second best.

I loved the growth of affection and love between Dante and Skye, and I loved the OTT plot with the Sterling corporation. It just all worked for me.

One think I liked is when they do the mating bite in this one, it’s while they’re having sex which just makes sense to me. In other books in this series and other books with mating bites recently that hasn’t always happened. It’s a weird thing to care about hahaha.

Lastly, even in the books by this author duo that I didn’t love, I have strongly appreciated the feminist and progressive undertones and needed to say that.

This book is more of a love story and a good one! The story smoothly picks up from the last book at the end of the Grove/Reid war. Dante Reid challenged his cousin for control of the pack and is severely wounded. He is found after the fight, near death. He is taken to the Grove clinic and treated by the Alpha and Skye. Skye and Dante strike up a friendship but neither feels worthy of more. Skye has the Condition and Dante is the son of a rival Alpha. But Dante agrees to help find a cure for the condition. The two men must work through their issues before they can make any progress towards a cure or move forward in their lives.

Well, that solves one mystery, doesn't it?

Okay, so while the romance here is incredibly sweet - almost too sweet, I'd say - the biggest star is Archer Sterling. Who would have known what Sterling Corporation was up to? Surely it's all a big mistake.

There is a substance harmful for werewolves, particularly Omegas, and it's in pretty much everything you can eat or drink. Kind of scary, isn't it?

Led by a deranged old man with a particular hate for werewolves.

On the romance side, it's kind of sweet to see kind and vulnerable Skye being the more confident in this relationship. He has the Condition, so he has been coddled by the pack his entire life, but he's done with it.

Dante is a Reid. His father, Maxim, was the one who kidnapped Brook. His own pack left him mutilated and dying. Now he's in an enemy territory, being cared for at the Grove pack clinic. Because of the abuse he suffered, he's a little insecure and overly cautious, aware that everything he does can be perceived as an act of aggression.

Navigating dating as a werewolf has never been harder. I would say this is the sweetest romance in the series so far, and it tugs at all of the right heartstrings.

Enjoyable continuation of the series. I liked Skye and Dante together, though I must admit, after four books I am getting a bit exhausted with the overwrought tortured alpha theme. While the alphas in the books have all have different baggage, they've all been quite mopey about it, and it's getting boring--and it looks like the next book will also be featured an even more tortured alpha. Yay.

The whole big bad Sterling corporation plot's a little thin, as was the resolution, and this is totally a personal issue, but the demonization of processed foods is just... really not my thing, though I do think it was somewhat handled well throughout the book with minimal diet-culture rhetoric, which was a nice turn.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Cold Moon is the fourth book in Sam Burns and W.M. Fawkes’ Wolf Moon Rising series. I read the first three books last year, but somehow let the last two get away from me, so I was excited to jump back into things again. While each book focuses on a new couple, there are two main overarching plots that have carried across the books. The first is the Grove pack’s fight with the Reids, who kidnapped Brook and attacked the Groves, killing their former alpha. The conflict with them seems mostly resolved by the time we get to this book, but the fallout lingers for Dante, as he was part of the Reid pack.

Wow! Talk about dealing with doubt!! The two main characters had to do a lot of self reflection and be strong for themselves so that others would see them as strong. The struggle of Dante was brutal!!! My heart ached. And I hated that Skye was so ill. However, I am glad they found a way to accept the hand they were dealt and find a home with each other - both physically and emotionally.

Mostly Disappointing

This installment leaves too much unsaid, and resolves too few story threads. Central to the three previous books has been this mysterious condition affecting omegas. We find an answer in book 4, but it comes with an undeveloped cause, two new and undeveloped characters, a lightning fast resolution and no satisfaction. Then the story reverts to more mundane issues of marriage and mates. In the end, the reader is the one who has been abused.

I am liking the direction this series is headed. I was expecting this book to be fragile and soft but it pleasantly surprised me, Skye surprised me. He was such a resilient character and after seeing him handled with kids gloves for three books now, to watch him come into his own was a stunning thing.

I couldn't get enough of Dante either. I was intrigued by the man when he first appeared, let alone when they find him on the brink of death. Linden and Skye help Dante accept himself but also help him find his place in the pack. No guessing there, its right next to Skye. Poor Skye has been seen as weak by everyone in his pack and it was so endearing for Dante as an outsider to treat Skye with the respect he deserves. These two were just the cutest, now don't get me wrong, they definitely had a few moments of miscommunications that had me groaning, but they eventually got to where they needed to be.

Dante grew leaps and bounds in this book. He finally accepted his alpha nature but also found love and happiness in a pack after being terrorized in his own for most of his life. Their whole romance was so sweet, tender, and cute, I couldn't get enough. In terms of pack drama and tension, Dante isn't well received by the pack at first and there are definitely some growing pains there. But over time people begin to warm up to him.

And finally, they start to make some progress on the Condition. The whole end of the story had me reeling. Several plot twists, back to back that had me shocked. Skye is secretly a bad-*ss, who knew? I can't wait to see how things play out in the final book!

If you're in the market for a book with two MCs who just absolutely deserve the happiest HEA, then look no further than this book! I've been interested in Skye since the first book, as one of the few omegas living with the Condition, and dealing with it every day, he was an intriguing character from the start. Add in the fact that he's small, adorable, and just a big sweetheart and I was smitten from the first page. So him being paired up with a Reid was a surprise, but it made sense once we got to meet Dante who was just so sweet and caring, and absolutely the best alpha to be there for Skye and realize he was not the broken omega every one treated him as. The romance was a slow burn with big feelings and I know I'm saying it a lot, but just so sweet and adorable and I loved everything about it.

The secondary plot of the condition finally reached its climax and it was so well done and interesting! We've already learned the who at this point, but the why was not at all what I expected while still absolutely making sense! There's a couple moments of suspense and tension, and just loved the way it was handled with both of our MCs realizing how much they are truly capable of, especially now that they have each other. It also perfectly teed up the next book in the series with someone I've definitely been dying for to have a story, and new character who is incredibly interesting.

I love the progress they are making with The Condition, a mystery illness affecting wolves. It's been a slow and steady process from book to book ... much like it would happen in real life. It's showing how each person brings their own knowledge and skill set to the table, and working together will get them the answers they need. The pack Alpha is getting more comfortable in the role, but won't ever be the "my way or the highway" type, which I greatly appreciate.

And OMG, did it end with a bang. We now know, without a doubt, what's up with the mysterious illness plaguing werewolves for decades. There is still some science to work out now that they have the new facts, but wow ... just wow! And of course it would be Skye ... sweet Skye who only wants to help everyone he meets ... who is the one to prove what they thought was only an urban legend. He's tougher than anyone ever gave him credit for.

As for the romance, Skye and Dante have led complete opposite lives ... one loved almost too much and the other dangerously neglected. Both need others to see them for themselves ... not Skye's illness or Dante's murderous family. I really liked how their romance was handled. The omega biology has been touched on in each book, and I figured it would come up in this book too, but the authors took great care to consider the adjustments Skye and Dante would need. It was sweet and thoughtful ... and perfectly suited for them.

Sam Burns and W M Fawkes are automatic buys for me when it comes to new books. I just love their writing and the way they craft the characters. Yes there can be danger and a mystery to solve in their stories, but our main characters are often quick to fall in love, they just take some time to figure out how to make it work. The Wolf Rising series has had our Grove pack trying to solve the problem of the Condition and taking on the Sterling Corporation, the company that makes so many of the products that millions consume every day. Skye has been living with the Condition his entire life, and he has figured out how to cope. His struggles and the findings of Ridge on the farm have helped the Grove pack and especially Linden Grove understand a lot about the illness. When the Reid pack makes one last desperate attempt to attack the Grove pack, Brook and Aspen find Dante Reid dying from his attempt to stop the rest of the Reids. Slowly Skye and Linden nurse Dante back to health from his injuries. Dante is quickly drawn to Skye and his feelings are mutual. Together with the rest of the pack, they just might solve the mystery once and for all. I love how Linden and Skye start almost from day one, trying to help Dante learn to love himself and show him kindness and respect that he has missed from pack for all of his life. This book was full of sweet moments. I can’t wait to see what happens next now that the Sterling Corp has been stopped and we have a new ally in Archer Sterling who isn’t going to quite fit into either world, that of the humans or the wolves.

Cold Moon is the 4th book in the Wolf Moon Rising series and is Skye's and Dante's story.

Dante from the previous book was found by Brook at the end of the battle between the Groves and Reids, bleeding from an extensive wound and a step before dying and being the one that saved Brook of course couldn't leave him to die. So off he and Aspen took him to the clinic for Linden and Skye to save.

Dante for all of having grown up in a toxic environment was nothing like the rest of the Reids and he always tried to not let his Alpha instincts define his actions. He knows what the Reids did to the Groves so he's ready to accept any punishment, words, banishment from them after he is all healed up. Still he can't help but see Skye and be mesmerized by him,

Skye was born with the Condition. He is the one everyone handles like he is gonna break any minute and despite being almost 20yo he has lived very little and within the confines of Grovetown and the people's overbearing protection. He knows they are doing it with the best intentions but no one really sees him. That is until a broken, wounded, dying Alpha from the enemy pack lands on one of the clinics tables.

Skye and Dante are the cutest, almost high school sweethearts ever and their love story is quite wholesome!

The plot when it comes to the Condition advances as well with Dante being a half-made biologist (had to quit college after a year or so when the Reids needed help, although that didn't end well for him, AT ALL) and was able to figure out a couple of things, finding out based on that what makes Alphas, Betas and Omegas different so that they can pinpoint why it affects Omegas only and a few more things happening that were openings for later books.

I like the series, they are easy reads and with compelling characters and story line, it's just I haven't been wowed to give it more than 3 stars. A solid read for sure though and I'm always game for the next one!

2.5 stars rounded up. So I feel like I’ve read this story 4 times now, but this one gets a much lower rating because of unnecessary melodrama (looking at you, Sterling Corporation). The kidnapping and the insane grandfather were really just too much. Great MC’s and sweet romances keep this series in the game, but the overall story arcs are kind of a mess, and in this book it felt like it went off the rails in a bad way.
Plus, as someone who lives with a chronic health condition, Skye’s internal monologues felt inauthentic. Like, I can see how that would be something you would imagine I would think, but that’s not even close to what I’m thinking. And it’s not like I’m here because I’m expecting reality (obviously— shifter omegaverse is getting really out there), but I always appreciate characters that feel authentic to themselves, and too many things about Skye didn’t quite measure up. Same with Dante. Now they’re both likeable, so it works, it just doesn’t work as well as some of the previous pairings. Oh well. I felt like this one had so much potential, because Skye and Dante are such great characters. But in the end it felt like basically the exact storyline from a previous book was just mildly tweaked and reinserted, and Skye and Dante have almost the exact same internal conflicts we’ve already read about: the omega thinks “I’m not a typical omega, he’ll never want me”, and the alpha thinks “I’m not good enough, I’ll never be able to be what he needs”.

*the heaviest, deepest of sighs*

We not doin’ this shit. Nope. You better call someone to fix it, because I refuse to believe ANY of y’all don’t know how many goddamn doors a Mustang has.

It ain’t no Ford-fuckin’-Ranger… It’s a Mustang. Not even a Mach-E, which would be the ONLY one ever produced that has more than two damn doors, and it for sure ain’t no classic.

Also, it’s ugly in person. Props for the electric thing, but ew. Junking up a Dollar General parking lot is a weird flex for a vehicle, but one it excels at. Anyhow…

Wonky as shit, still annoyed beyond belief at the misinformed opinions on farming and food—yes, I am well aware there are shady ass companies doing industrial farming, but that’s not the standard and spreading the incorrect shit doesn’t help anybody—and that FUCKING MISLEADING LIE OF A BUZZWORD THAT NEEDS TO DIE (“organic”, gag me please), but I still love the cheese and the fluff and the rote-made-fresh vibes.

3.75/5. I let the calling trucks cars shit slide, but not a mythical door on a classic car. That’s just too much, too far, and a completely missed opportunity to have someone hilariously scrunched into the dash whilst two grown people smack the seat forward to scramble out in their mad dash to fuck. Sometimes the reality of something is still just as useful and funny and relevant in a book AU and taking it away takes away. Also, HELLO. WHERE IS THE “CLIFF AND ROWAN BEING HAPPY AND SETTLED” STORY??! THEY DESERVE IT.

This book is Dante and Skye story!!! I enjoy this book and the challenge both characters have to be together, the story picks up from the last book were Dante is trying to stop the Reid clan to attack the Grove clan, he is severely injured and near death, he is taken to the Grove clinic where he is treat by Alpha Linden and Skye. Skye is a omega wolf with the condition and he wants to be treated like a normal shifter but to everyone he will always be an sick omega, when Dante and Skye start to spend time together because of Dante is still recovering they show each other another side of themselves, both have issues with their upbringing and fear that they aren’t worth it, Skye dealing with the condition and Dante will always be the son of the man that kidnapped and hurt a Grove omega. Dante is asked by linden to help find something about the condition and the connection to the sterling products so he would do anything to help skye and alpha linden. I like how the story progress both Dante and Skye need to work through their issues and realize that they are perfect for each other, when they finally get together I love their relationship, they are so sweet together. Im definitely looking forward to the next book, I think be great a good time with the next book!

What a lovely, lovely story. Romantic, angsty, hopeful, beautiful.

I've always wanted the know about Skye a bit more and I not only got my wish, but Skye was an utter badass: I loved him so so much. He's the only Omega with the Condition in Grovetown, and because of that he has to contend with the constant meddling and coddling from his well-meaning pack, even though he's very capable and brave and smart. The way he dealt with his illness was so realistic: I know it doesn't even come close to having something as debilitating as his illness, but as a fellow cronic disease sufferer I completely got his point of view: I have coeliac's, so being constantly alert about what you're eating, worrying about it, wishing you could have all the greasy food in your local restaurant and knowing you can't easily... It really resonated with me.
And Dante? I was a bit skeptical about him when I read the blurb for this book and I discovered he was going to be Skye's love interest but *screaming* I loved him so damn much. He was a bit broken, a lot insecure and so precious and sweet: I wanted to wrap him up in blankets and keep him safe from the world. He and Skye were utterly fantastic together.
I'm already jumping into the next book: I'm so ready for Ford and Archer.

Ok since book one I was like low-key, "Is Skye and/or Dante gonna get a book?"
Well uhm the answer is yes, yes they did. Together! It was wonderful!

Skye does wax on a bit in his own personal pity party a bit but he was clearly raised by a narcissist so I'll give him grace. He also develops a sense of self awareness later that was utterly needed.

Dante has had his fair share of trauma and is on theme for unconventional abo relationships, he doesn't posture, arrogance and aggression has been beaten out of him quite literally. He's also very triggered by aggressive alpha displays which in turn almost gives him an armor against posers like Skip. Like oh Skip, the shit Dante's seen your nothing to be scared of.

The relationship was so sweet and I wasn't even mad that where where closer to the 80% mark when we finally got some steam. It built slowly and sweetly then made up for lost time.

We finally get some major headway on the Condition! Big revaluations but nothing is truly fixed, still lots to resolve.

OK... so... Archer and Ford next book let's go!

ARC from author for an honest review.
