Meet Max Damiano – arcane demon-hunter. As the newest member of his family’s ancient legacy, he struggles to come to terms with his role to keep humans safe from the horrors that lurk on the edges of our world.
After an unusual client sends Max deep into the underbelly of New York on the hunt for an extremely rare demon, he finds himself visiting the shady Under Market yet again to enlist help from an unexpected source.
When his oldest sister is kidnapped, Max finds himself racing against time to save her. But tracking down the Harbinger will be no easy task – and after he falls into her sights, it soon becomes difficult to tell which one of them is the hunter… and which one is the hunted.

This was undoubtedly the best of the three. Max finally accepted that he was different than his family members and maybe it was a good thing. His struggles felt real. I loved it!
“He was only a great Hunter when he behaved how they expected him to.”
I have to agree that this is the best out of the 3 books so far. With the last book I didn’t feel connected to any of Max’s family. They could live or die and I really didn’t feel invested in any of them. I was glad that we delve more into his relationship with his sister Sadie and start to really connect with someone other than Max. Speaking of Max, he is quite a complex kid. While the other hunters (mostly) just go with the flow, he really questions what he’s doing and how everyone, demons and humans alike, are affected. James, of course, is still a mystery, but his armor is being chipped away with each novella. I’d also like to know more about Janet and what her story is. Overall, a good read.
I received a free Kindle edition from BookSirens and leave this review freely.
It is another good chapter in the life of the Damianos and Max in particular and an great continuation of the previous short story in the series. Max still struggles with getting to know his powers and his mixed feelings towards his dad, who seems to really dislike his son at times. It’s a great read, exciting and action packed e with a lot of character development. Looking forward to see how the series continues.

Max and his siblings are off on another adventure, hunting a one of a kind demon for a mysterious client. Max's interactions with the demon world were very well done. It was nice seeing him continue to forge his own path. The family dynamics were harder to read. James becomes even more abusive and Janet continues to enable it with her silence. I look forward to the next novella, as well as hopefully a path forward for Max within his family.

A good story. Definitely an improvement over the previous title in the series. At the end of the previous story, the Damianos received a contract to capture or kill a Harbinger. This is that story. But, as I suspected, things only get worse for Max. It was the surprise ending that made me understand much of what went on.
Action-packed. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
This novella is a page turner and keeps you engaged from the very beginning until the very end. Another thing I really like is the character development of Max as well as the relationship between him and his sister Sadie.
It’s definitely worth a read and I can’t wait to read the next novella in this series.
This is another great addition to this series. Max who has been struggling with his new role finally accepts it and also that he is different from the rest of the family. Then his sister gets kidnapped! It’s a great read, it’s exciting and action packed and definitely well worth a read, the whole series is.
An excellent addition to this series where we see so much character development and no shortage of great story and action. Looking forward to see how the series continues.
