This book was a super fun read. Belle and Mary are in for the adventure of a lifetime. They travel from Missouri to California to start a new life. Both characters are strong. Comedy, conflict, and love are all wrapped up nicely in this story.

The plot line for Belle's Dilemma is wonderful and the author clearly did her research into the time period. The climax toward the end of the story was great and I appreciated that Belle handled the situation herself, keeping in line with her strong, independent personality. Also, the final line of the book is lovely.

That being said, this book needs some serious work as far as development and line editing. There were several inconsistencies, repetitions, hopping around and skipping over things, unfinished plot lines, unnatural dialogue, lots of passive voice, and too much telling vs. showing. A developmental edit and a line edit could really enhance this book and make it an excellent read.

Overall, it is a great story, but it needs a good polish to tidy it up.
