After reading this I intend to hunt down more from this author. What a life he lived - and did not waste any of it! Jose Burman, I think, must have been an extraordinary being and becoming a writer was secondary to living a life of adventure fuelled by his curiosity, particularly origins. Mostly centred in the Cape province of South Africa, the past is brought to life through the men and women who lived it and related with humour.
