Oh my dayz.. is this authors previous books just like this one? I absolutely loved it. Jade Diamond had everything until in the blink of an eye she had nothing. Broken beyond words she takes herself to her aunts house where she starts to heal..

I actually read this before I even read the blurb. This authors words gave me all the feels.

I feel this would be an ideal read for a young adult although I’m much older than a young adult and I still loved it.

A fantastic take on the classic Snow White tale. It was a breath of fresh air and I could not put it down. The blurb intrigued me and as soon as I started I was off. There were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments as well as some twists that you didn't see coming. The group dynamic was really great, all the characters brought something different to the story and were very true and realistic. There is a clean line drawn as to who the bad guy of the story is which is great as we could focus all our rage on that person and rest assured that we could enjoy everyone else- as nothing was going to change the dynamic.

Jade is our main female character and she is dealing with a birthday from hell! Firstly, her dad is dead and she's left with an evil stepmother. Secondly, she gets dumped, then she gets booted out of her house just to round out the day! She makes her way to her aunt in Kentucky where she soon joins a ragtag band of teenaged boys living and working the family farm. Jade soon forms a fast and solid bond with Onyx (who is definitely dreamy) and makes new friends along her road of recovery. She soon learns that she is loved, she deserves to be happy, and there is always a light at the end of a dark tunnel.

The writing was really good throughout the book, it really flowed and you felt like you were in the character's lives the whole time. I really did love the bond and banter that they all shared and found it really enduring how they stood by one another. There are some real-world issues that are brought to light and I feel like they fit in perfectly and represented the lives of high schoolers pretty well. This book was an easy read to get lost in and I found myself not wanting to stop! A really good story and perfect for fans of clean (PG-heavy kissing) high school, fairytale retellings. I was so happy to have read this!

I have been reading the Once Upon a Heartbreak Collection and so far this one is my favorite! I am such a huge fan of YA romances and this one shows all of the angsty emotions that comes with it by also intermingling the retelling of Snow White in it. To say that Jade has been through some pretty awful moments is like saying that a brick is hard, this girl was put through the freaking ringer!

Not wanting to get into details and spoilers of the story, you should know that this book was thoroughly entertaining. Like mentioned above, it has all of the angsty romantic emotions that you would expect from teenagers but also a maturity to it. The author laid everything out pretty darn perfectly with the set up of the story, then with the execution. There are intriguing twists and turns, but it was all apart of the fun. All in all, I totally dug Stop My Bleeding Heart! I give it 4.5 outta 5 stars and recommend it to all that like YA romances! Can't wait for the next book in this collection!

PS: Thank you to Victoria Anders and Enticing Journey Book Promos for allowing me an advanced copy of the book!

On her eighteenth birthday, Jade's stepmother kicks her out of the house without any warning, right after her perfect boyfriend dumps her. With nowhere else to go, Jade leaves the state to live with her Aunt Janet. Here, she meets a whole new set of people on top of her cousin and her friends list grows. Among the group of boys that live with her aunt is Onyx. He immediately singles her out and makes it his mission to make her smile.

Jade has experienced a lot of hard times between losing both her mother and father, then getting kicked out of her childhood home. She's lucky to have her Aunt Janet who will always have her back, even if it means going up against the stepmother who stole everything Jade's dad worked for. As she goes through the days at her new school, Jade goes through all the high school motions of dating and making memories with friends. But among them, Onyx stands out with his consistent presence in her life.

STOP MY BLEEDING HEART is a contemporary romance with a Snow White twist. The seven dwarfs are the boys living with Aunt Janet who accept her in their lives. Onyx is the sweetest person in existence and he's always there for Jade, even when she's talking to Tad and doesn't really "see" him. I love the Snow White themes and how the author made it more "hers" rather than following the classic tale. This is the first book I've read by Victoria Anders and I certainly don't see if being the last. Her fast-paced and clean, sweet writing leaves me wanting to discover more from her.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to fans of fairytales, Snow White, contemporary romance, and coming of age. Everyone deserves a dwarf/prince like Onyx in their lives.

This is a very modern fairytale retelling of Snow White. Honestly when I started this book I didn’t see the correlation between this story and Snow White. It started to make sense as time went on especially when Jade gets to the ranch.
Jade unfortunately became an orphan after a robbery gone wrong that killed her father. Her evil stepmother kicks her out of her own house on her 18th birthday right after her boyfriend breaks up with her. She’s in a super tough spot so she heads to Kentucky to stay with her aunt and the 7 fosters living with her.
Malachi is her cousin and they used to talk all the time. Now that she’s at the ranch things are a little tense and he’s upset more often. She also meets Onyx who is a super cool guy in my opinion and the perfect book boyfriend.
Jade catches the eye of another guy in art class. He’s hiding a pretty big secret though that you find out closer to the end of the book. I honestly wish things had happened a little faster so we could have gotten more from the couples that ACTUALLY belonged together.
Onyx was the perfect friend and exactly what Jade needed. He opened her eyes and made her feel alive again. He also wanted to help her get her mother’s ring back and be happy.
I loved the chemistry in this story and the awesome friendships. Plus the twists and turns that you don’t see coming make this a definite page turner. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it!

Oh my gosh this book! I was sucked in at the premise of a Snow White retelling and YA romance. But how magnificently the storyline was woven was amazing! All the little mystery pieces that intertwined throughout the story had me on my toes.
All the side characters drew me in as well as the main characters. I was invested in everybody's storyline and surprised at a lot of them!
Anders did a fabulous job getting us hooked from the start with the mystery, having our hearts bleed right along with Jade's, and want to have a guy who has our back no matter what like Onyx.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go re-read this again!

Jade was living her best life when a robbery turned her world upside down, and in the aftermath she loses everything so off she goes to stay with an aunt, and her aunt's foster kids. I can feel Jade's pain seeping out of my kindle so my heart hurts for her big time. Stop My Bleeding Heart is more YA than anything, and yet, I still enjoyed it a great deal as an old adult. It has a lot of emotion to it, quite a bit of sweet, and even some suspense with a kicker of twists. This story is the type of story that cleanses the palate so don't miss out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ms. Anders is a new author for me. I generally don't read YA books, but I love Snow White and this re-telling held my interest.

This Once Upon a Heartbreak anthology has accomplished exactly what it set out to…Heartbreak!

Highly emotional, great character builds, really cool twist(s)!

I will definitely check out other novels by this author! Can't wait to see what she has written!

I picked this up because of the cover and the blurb, and dived into it late at night, and found it almost impossible to put down. Jade and her misfortunes on her 18th birthday leading to a romance that slowly builds through the story. I loved the loose take on Snow White, and adored the twists and turns the novel took. It was an engaging, heart warming story and the ending just made me smile even more. An excellent romance and one that I very much enjoyed. Highly recommended!

Fairy-tale retelling? Check. Relatable heroine and swoony Book Boyfriend hero? Double Check.

I stayed up way past my bedtime so that I could devour this wonderfully written book in one sitting. There was nothing I didn't love about the Jade + Onyx dynamic, but honestly I adore every single one of these characters. I'm a sucker for a good Snow White (or any other fairy tale, honestly) spin and this one checked all the boxes! SO GOOD!

I was pleasantly surprised. I do not normally read these types of books. The author did an amazing job keeping me turning the pages. I read it all in one night because I didn’t want to put it down. While I knew how everything would turn out, she made it extremely enjoyable to read. I would definitely read another book by this author. Thank you to the Bookworm Club for sending me this book last month.

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Victoria Anders; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

She has written a good book. The story is similar to Snow White fairy tale with a twist. Jade’s mom dies when she was only five; her dad was murdered when she was seventeen, leaving her an orphan. After she turns eighteen her step-mother threw her out leaving her homeless; the only place she could find shelter was with the seven guys.

Healing

Omh!!! I LOVE this story! Jade & Onyx build a friendship & a love that is the best kind of fairytale inspiration. There are so many ways this story touched my heart. The only reason it isn't getting 5+++ stars is because a fair amount of the storyline contains a personal pet peeve. Still, even then, I loved how that part of the story works out. Swoon!

I definitely recommend this book!! 💚

Onyx and Jade

Read this well written and well edited story! A refreshing take on Snow White with most of that story’s elements crafted into an up to date form but with the magical feel to the story still there. It has been a delight to read!

Stop My Bleeding Heart (Once Upon A Heartbreak Collection) is a contemporary young adult coming of age tale with a Snow White retelling twist that keep's you on your on toes till the very end. I loved all the characters except the evil stepmother lol. Peerless twists intricately entwined throughout the mysterious and suspenseful plot. I loved the epilogue and how fitting the title is to this retelling. A fabulous retelling of Snow White with a compelling writing style.

Masterpiece

The pacing in this was awesome. Loved that the side characters had their own background stories. Onxy and Jade's friendship was the best. Loved the pov switch at the end. It really added to the story. Lots of little mysteries woven throughout. And then there's also the snow white nods. Love love love. May be the authors best work and all her books are good.

Stop My Bleeding Heart is a beautifully heartfelt coming-of-age story that had me completely invested in Jade from the very beginning. Victoria Anders captures the pain of loss, the challenge of starting over, and the fragile hope of healing with such authenticity that I couldn’t put the book down. The Snow White retelling twist felt fresh and creative, making Jade’s journey both familiar and completely new. This story will linger with me for a long time it’s emotional, inspiring, and the kind of book you want to press into a friend’s hands so they can experience it too.

Jade is an orphan, living with a stepmother that doesn’t want her around. Well, until she’s kicked out on her 18th birthday. Happy Birthday, Jade, and by the way, your boyfriend wants to call it quits too. Poor Jade, she has been through so much in such a short time. Too much for such a young woman.

If it wasn’t for her aunt, I don’t know where Jade would be. Jade is in a fragile place, and she’s healing, and she has such a big heart, bleeding and all. The friendships she’s building are solid, especially the bond she is forming with Onyx. I laughed a lot at their interactions reading this. Stop My Bleeding Heart is an inclusive and fun read that’s sometimes swoony, allowing you to lose yourself to reading on these constant rainy days. Another fantastic read from author Anders.

Sadly, the best thing about this was the cover and overall design of the book - the Bookworm Box limited edition one that, thanks to the good people at Goodreads, I no longer have the ability to add to the site because apparently the average reader is not intelligent enough for that monumental task 🙄

The basic story was decent - enough to keep me interested through most of the book at least, and the writing was readable, though odd and kind of clunky at times, but basically everything else irritated me.

*We do not need to be beaten over the head with the fact that it's a Snow White retelling. We got it from the description and first few chapters. After that, every overt Snow White reference had me rolling my eyes. And there were a lot of them. It was especially annoying since, aside from a few details (evil step mother and the "dwarves"), there really isn't much in the plot to suggest it in any way resembled Snow White.

*A lot of people don't mind crude language in books. I'm not one of them. And while it wasn't obnoxiously excessive, it was obnoxious. I can forgive various words here and there because, I get it, sometimes 'well darn' just doesn't cut it. But this author (like a lot of YA authors) just seems to want to sprinkle crudeness in for color. To me it's pretty much always a sign of lack of talent and/or imagination. Or just sheer immaturity because they just have to use the "bad" words. I guess it's an attempt to be relatable or whatever, but it ruins it for me. Particularly since 99% of the time in this story, it was completely unnecessary. One instance, the sentence made absolutely no grammatical sense and had basically no purpose for being there at all.

*Jade is an idiot. Based on the first few chapters, I really thought I'd like her, but by the end, I really couldn't stand her and I couldn't care less about her relationship with Onyx or anyone else. It was devastating for Hunter to break up with her on her birthday. After that, I found myself wondering if she even actually liked him. The only quality she seemed to find favorable about him was his looks. Which is apparently a theme with her as it's all she seemed to like about Tad. She found him boring and basically a jerk, but "he's so freaking gorgeous", so she forces herself to like him. An oh-so-endearing quality for our MC to have...
I had to laugh at her outrage over both boys. She's a walking contradiction. She literally thinks "how dare he!" when Hunter calls her, but at that point has already made plans to meet him and only refuses to get back together because a long distance relationship would be hard on him 🤦‍♀️. She's ticked that Tad just assumes they're going out and treats her like crap so she makes sure to solidify the plans he assumed so he can continue to assume and treat her like crap. She feels zero connection to Tad, attempts to force the relationship, and then winds up apologizing when he cheats on her. She can't seem to wait to jump into bed with him but she was reserved with Hunter - someone she (supposedly) actually liked. She makes a major point to say how she's learned to trust her "heart bleed" (which I found an incredibly weird way to describe her feelings), and then promptly and completely ignores it when she meets Tad 'cuz he's hot'.
And it took her For-Ever to catch on to everything.

*I liked Onyx, but their relationship felt very forced and their interactions were over the top and cheesy. And their connection was WAY too fast. They barely know each other and *bam* they're best friends. It seemed like an awful lot of their relationship involved going home and going to sleep, which had me wondering if the author just couldn't think of anything else for each particular scene.

*Overall it was predictable and cheesy with some awkward wording/grammar and errors that probably should have been caught in editing. All of which I could easily forgive if not for everything else I mentioned.
I feel like there could have been a lot more depth to Jade's relationship with Onyx, as well as a lot more involving Onyx's family and her step mother. As it is, it felt very flat. And this is just a preference thing, but the clever little quips and nicknames (ie miss vain) were just odd to me.

Stop My Bleeding Heart is an emotionally resonant young adult coming of age novel that blends loss, resilience, and romantic tension with a subtle Snow White–inspired twist. At its core, the story follows Jade Diamond’s painful unraveling and gradual rebuilding after a series of devastating losses strip away the life she once knew.

Jade’s journey begins in heartbreak: orphaned by violence, rejected by those meant to protect her, and forced into an unfamiliar world of foster families and fractured relationships. Anders captures the disorientation of grief and displacement with sensitivity, allowing Jade’s emotional wounds to feel raw, authentic, and deeply relatable. As Jade navigates a new school, tentative friendships, and the confusing pull of two boys vying for her attention, the novel thoughtfully explores identity, trust, and the longing to feel chosen.

The Snow White retelling elements add a gentle layer of familiarity without overpowering the contemporary realism of the story. Romance unfolds with emotional stakes rather than fantasy gloss, reinforcing the novel’s themes of healing, self-worth, and emotional survival. Jade’s growth is gradual and earned, making her path toward hope and connection especially rewarding.

Perfect for readers who enjoy emotionally driven YA romance, foster-family narratives, and modern fairy tale retellings, Stop My Bleeding Heart is a tender exploration of grief, love, and the courage it takes to begin again.
