Nestled in the tranquil Blue Ridge Mountains of East Tennessee, Mary Stone has transformed her peaceful home, once bustling with her sons, into a creative haven. As her family grew, so did her writing career, evolving from childhood fears to a deep understanding of real-life villains. Her stories, centered around strong, unconventional heroines, weave themes of courage and intrigue.
Mary's journey from a solitary writer to establishing her own publishing house marks a significant evolution, showcasing her commitment to the literary world. Through her writing and publishing endeavors, she continues to captivate and inspire, honoring her lifelong fascination with the mysterious and the courageous.
Even worse than book 3. The drop-off in quality between book 1 and this one is steep.
The first part of the story was interesting and the stakes felt high. But then the story gets bogged down in irrelevant details (right in the middle of an important scene with new evidence, you're thinking about what someone was like in high school?).
And these are some of the stupidest detectives with the poorest detective work I've read in a book.
Mary Stone is quickly becoming one of my favorite female writers. I'm sincerely loving this series and yes I love Amelia storm. I love strong no nonsense female characters.
Good premise and I love Amelia and Zane, but I had some trouble with the details and flow of this story. The anger from the sheriff, the not looking at the text messages from the missing girl, the drawn out problems with Joseph….they made following the story and staying immersed in it a bit difficult. The relationship part was interesting and fun. The team dynamic of two different groups working together was fascinating as was the villain. I hope to see more of this series and get some answers to questions about Joseph, their relationship, the knowledge of Amelias secret and Zanes secret backgrounds, who is the mole, what the Senator is up to as I did not feel these were really addressed in book 5 even though they were in all the other books.
‘Military veteran turned FBI special agent Amelia Storm returns to her corrupt hometown of Chicago to avenge her brother’s death, becoming an unstoppable force that exposes the city’s darkest secrets while solving its most dangerous crimes.’
Storm's Wrath is Book #5 in the Amelia Storm Series by Mary Stone. This series turned out to be a fast-moving mix of crime, suspense, and personal drama that was so easy to get hooked on. I have been devouring my way through Ms. Stone’s series/books for a while now, and can always count on her to deliver an engrossing read, and this series didn’t disappoint. The books follow Amelia Storm, a military veteran turned FBI Special Agent, as she tackles dangerous cases that often hit close to home - especially after returning to her corrupt hometown of Chicago. Amelia is the heart of the series. She’s smart, determined, and unafraid to push boundaries, but she’s also human, carrying the weight of past trauma and personal loss. That balance of toughness and vulnerability makes her feel real and very relatable. The pacing is quick, the dialogue sharp, and the settings are vivid enough to pull you right into all the action. Each book works as its own mystery - but reading them in consecutive order lets you see not only Amelia’s growth but also the bigger story threads unfolding over the series. If you like strong female leads, gritty investigations, and thrillers that mix action with emotional depth, then this series is the one for you. Happy Reading…
This entry in the Storm series felt like a Criminal Minds episode. The villain is a psychopathic human trafficker living an otherwise seemingly normal family life and is portrayed really well. For me it's the first book in the series that could probably be qualified as a stand alone, as it finally gets Storm and Palmer out of Chicago and away from the organized crime story arcs that have come to dominate these books. A couple of new agents are added and I'll be interested to see if they become regulars. This series is definitely in need of some fresh blood.
Of course, as with most of the other Storm books there's a disappointing ending - or lack of one to be more accurate. Despite the cliffhangers, I enjoy these books, so I'll continue to read them when I see them on sale. I'd say it's a four start book with a two star ending so I'll split the difference. Three stars it is.
While the stories are compelling, there are quirks in the writing that wear thin. All of the female agents seem to spend a lot of time tucking stray bits of hair behind their ears. I know an occasional comment like that humanizes the characters, but when its overused, it just gets distracting.and in the Ellie Kline series the misspelling of Shepherd when referring to Ellie's former partner's dog was disconcerting - aren't editors supposed to spot things like that?
At the same time, as annoying as those things are, I find, much to my dismay, that once I start one of Mary Stone's books I cannot stop reading until I finish it!
Beware, looks and situations can be deceiving as one young woman finds out. Will she or won’t she be saved? Amelia and Zane are tasked with helping to find her and end up working with the violent crimes unit. Are they looking for a human trafficker, serial killer or both that is the question they must answer before it is too late. This book will keep you in suspense and hoping for a good outcome. It will also raise your blood pressure and heart rate. Storm’s Wrath is not a book to go to sleep with as your mind will not be able to turn off.
Each book in the Storm series has a gripping story line, the two main characters have very different back stories, making them an interesting pair. I have enjoyed this series and can't wait to dive into book six. Mary Stone is an amazing story teller.. I highly recommend this series, not only to mystery fans, but to all who enjoy a writer who will keep your interest until the last page.
SSA Agents Storm & Palmer make a great team. Each book leaves you wanting more, and so far- there still is. The last 25% of the book had my heart racing thru many of the chapters, especially Stephanie & her little sister's conversation. Won't say any more, so that I don't spoil the ending for you... Read it! I'm sure you'll want to follow Storm & Palmer too!
I have found myself a true Mary Stone fan. I have other books downloaded, yet I just finished book 5! They are designed to be page turners, and the books walk you right into the next book. The series is hard to leave. This one was a little somber due to subject matter, but her writing is still compelling to me, and I live the main characters as their relationship grows with each case.
FBI agents Amelia and Zane are called to assist another department of the FBI. Nothing is ever simple for them, so here we go on another Roller coaster ride. We also get to see things may just be getting a bit more personal between Amelia and Zane. The focus of this investigation leads them to another criminal like the BTK killer. Someone who's hiding in plain site? Time to figure it out!
This the fifth book in the series. It’s another nail-biter story but one you won’t be able to put down. It’s a well written story with wonderful characters. It captured me from the beginning. It’s a definite page turn with lots of twists and turns. Following Amelia Storm will take you on journey that will be intense. This story and the series is a must read.
Not sure why I did not feel fully engaged with the main character; perhaps the exploitation aspect of the story didn’t appeal to me. The characters seemed sort of flat - but that might just be my own present perspective! A workman-like job, regardless, and looking forward to reading more Mary Stone.
This series is so vivid. It keeps me glued till the end and then I feel like I am not going to have the patience to wait for a sequel. Amelia is strong but she is brewing over Joe Larson's evil and Zane and his secrets while keeping her secrets close to the vest. Her time is coming with a shit Storm that should make her feel Great.
its amazing what a million little clues of nothing can lead you to. Zane and Amelia do just hat, one thread st a time until they knew which way to go. this book was fastpCed, like a movie, but care was taken in parts that required slower digestion. on to Book #6!
I have to say, I didn't notice any 'wrath' in this book. Oh, they were looking for a serial killer, and a missing/kidnapped girl, but, no wrath. I just wish Amelia and Zane would finally talk, explain what they are hiding of their pasts, and talk about their feelings for each other.
The intensity both through crime solving and the developing relationship between my two favorite characters in this exciting series, kept my eyes glued to the pages and my mind spinning, in this the 5th book of the Storm series! Can’t wait to see what dark corridors we’ll join these two in, in the next book…
The story was something I would never want to experience or have to deal with. While this comment maybe strange I believe without the horrible happening they wouldn't have solved the case. "Without Willow being taken that night no one would have thought that the killer was such a family man." It's to bad that they didn't solve it sooner.
This series of books are all so exciting that you will become addicted. I recommend it to anyone who loves to relax and refresh with great lawmen/women mysteries. I once thought I couldn’t get into reading again like in my youth, but I’m mid 70’s now and love these mysteries. Read one you have to give it a five star rating.
Love this series and author. Great for those that like murder mysteries that don't give nightmares. Zane and Amelia capture a one man trafficking operation who dismembers the victim after the client is done with them. Sometimes the victims are still alive when he starts.
Storm’s Wrath continues the Storm chronicles with another nail-biting story about Storm’s determination to rid ou society of bad guys. This one starts out deceptively kind and turns into nightmares with a surprise ending. Can’t wait for the next one.
This is better than five stars this is a ten star book. This is a book once you start you can't put down. Can't wait till the next boo. I highly recommend this book and series
How could Willow be kidnapped so quickly, and for what reason??? This is a deep story with lots of behind-the-scenes intrigue, isn’t it??? I recommend the book for those who like this type of book.
Can you have both in the same person. Yes. The FBI called in for some bodies parts found is the first of a very long chase. Trying to find a missing young woman at the same time has Amelia and her fellow agents working hard. Must read.
Another well written & thought provoking mystery. I enjoy the interaction between the characters. The suspense holds my attention and leaves me wanting go read the next book.
I have read most of Mary Stone,s books. I truly have enjoyed them all. I am sure I will read them time and time again. I always look forward to the next book in the series. If you enjoy suspenseful, hold your breath books, then Mary Stone,s book are just reads.
If you love suspense, riveting dialogue and surprises, this authors series are for you. Never know the direction it will take and following the characters is fun. Great read
Amelia is working on a case of missing girls when several bags of body parts are found buried in a remote area. Another girl has been reported missing. This is my first and now am anxious to read the others in the series.
Tho I absolutely love this series I found that I had reread many sentences. To me many of them were rather long and confusing. Other than that this entire series as never ceased to amaze me. Intense. Thrilling.
