I’m shy, not hot, and eating entirely too many pastries every day just to see my crush. It’s ridiculous to pine for a guy so far out of my league, but here we are.
When I confide in my friend about my crush, he pumps me up, giving me the courage to find out if this is a passing infatuation or the beginning of something more.
All I have to do is ask Wyatt to Date Me.
Date Me is a prequel novella to the Tattoos and Temptation series. In it, you’ll get a sneak peek of future main characters, tons of pining, a sweet tattooed hunk, and enough steam to satisfy. Welcome to Miami.
This book sounded like it would be a fun bit of rom-com. I came into it ready. And the beginning did not disappoint. An average, self-described as pudgy guy falling for the hot tattooed inked baker. What’s not to love. However, after they plan the date nothing really happens. It goes from this bit about how cool doesn’t really exist, and then a lesson on assumptions, and expectations. And then these themes keep coming back along with the too cool or too hot for me stuff that turns into another repeat of no one’s too hot for anyone. After a while, the book just seemed to be a bit preachy like it was going above and beyond to prove a point about how everyone is worth dating and society has preconceived notions for everything. I couldn’t get invested in the characters or the story. It just seemed to drone on.
The most annoying thing was all this hype about the date and it doesn’t happen. Most of the conversation happens on the drive and then again on the walk on the beach and a bit more at the apartment for wine. The romance was mostly discussion about theories and stuff and not much of the getting to know each other better stuff beyond the one bit about talking about their exes. It was all a lot of rehashing of what I stated above. This made it really hard to enjoy the awkwardness of one of the leads and get on board with how lucky he felt to be on a date with the hot tattooed guy because it was wrapped in these odd, lesson-learning, or awareness conversations.
My other thing about this is that one of the mains is described as not firm anywhere and eating way too much pastries while stalking his crush. And the crush is defined as tanned, tattooed lean muscle. Yet the person on the cover does not meet either of that criteria. I’m really confused by this. I almost didn’t buy the book based on just that cause my thoughts were if the cover doesn’t fit, will the story fit?
I was orgasming over their perfect first date. Just perfect. 👌
But;
🌼When they get down to it during the date, hmmm.... Wyatt talks about connection, but I didn't feel it, it's just their first date, for crying out loud!
🏵️I get the author wanted to adress consent, great, but the dialogue between them was completely unbelievable. I was expecting Wyatt to be more passionate and sexy. It would fit the description, right?
A sweet, short story, a nice epilogue. I'd have liked for it to be a full on book.
This was a great prequel! I listened to this in audio, and really enjoyed getting some more background on the guys we came to meet through the series. Kale did a great job drawing me into Wyatt and Josh’s story as well! This definitely made me want to dive back I to this series! I can’t wait to check out Marry Me in audio!
This was an adorable prequel to the T&T series. Josh was so cute. Wyatt was calm and in control. No angst and a touch of insta-love but a great read to kick off the series.
A sugary sweet romance that introduces the Tattoos and Temptations series. Readers who are new to Mia's work can pick this up and get a feel for her writing style. For those who have binged and loved the T&T series, like I did, will see cameo appearances from some of the main characters while enjoying a brand new couple!!! I adored Wyatt and Josh together. Short, sweet and steamy novella.
Again, who needs to stick to the already-downloaded books I have on my kindle or the ever-growing pile(s) of books on my TBR shelves when you can just like binge-read a new author and her first series? Here’s to Mia Monroe’s “Tattoos and Temptations” series. The series opens with (a prequel actually) “Date Me.”

Short (44 pages in total) and sweet. Like really, really sweet. This story was soooo damn adorable. It was all about being you and self-confidence/body-positivity and taking the risk to ask your crush out. Josh and Wyatt were so damn cute, and they knew right away that their thing was real and important.
And it perfectly foreshadowed at at the first official book in the series: “Marry Me.”
Josh kept buying pastelitos to see/flirt with Wyatt. Now I want pastelitos. And empanadas. And just like all of the baked goods/treats (and a tattoo—but I figured that urge would really heighten during this series so..).
Very, very excited to binge-read this series. [“Welcome to Miami.”]
This is such a sweet "getting to know you" novella, and hearing Kale Williams's smooth narration was like a delicious cherry on top (his performances throughout this series have been stellar).
Slightly insecure Josh is crushing hard on gorgeous tattooed baker Wyatt and finally works up the nerve to ask him out. Wyatt is ready for a committed relationship, and the cute, bookish customer who gets adorably flustered around him may be just the man he's been looking for.
There's a body positivity theme running through this whirlwind romance, involving Josh feeling insecure about being "chubby," and Wyatt reassuring him of his attractiveness. It comes across as sweet, caring, and loving, just like the MCs themselves, and they make a cute couple.
Although a prequel to the series by way of introducing some of the recurring characters, this is a standalone story. Josh and Wyatt get their HEA here and don't factor into subsequent books. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.
I enjoyed this prequel Novella to Mia’s Tattoo & Temptations Series. I liked getting a wee snippet of Briar, Cairo, Genesis, Tate and Jude before they found the love of their lives. I liked Josh and Wyatt and thought they were adorable together especially the tattoos that Jude does for them. I just wished this Novella could’ve been slightly longer as it was a bit too fast paced for me but that’s part of the course with Novellas as there’s not much time for love to blossom but at least in this book Josh had been visiting the bakery everyday to pretty much see Wyatt even if they didn’t really know much about each other they both were obviously interested in the other.
I'm laughing at how jaded I've become, but if this were not specifically a romance novel, I'd say that Wyatt totally reads like a walking red flag 😅😭
Josh has very obvious self-esteem issues, and then Wyatt comes just fawning all over him. I couldn't get it out of my head. 😅 Like, "AH! He's exploiting vulnerabilities! Doling out well-timed compliments, and 'me-too's and 'I feel like we've known each other forever's, and ALL of the dialogue, and- stop, stop, it's a romance novella. It's a happy ending. But also, reading these is how people get trapped when they meet people like this in real life.... Like, no, no, this isn't too over the top, it's perfect, just like my favorite Disney romance novels."
Lol. OK. I feel... icky. How did I get this this pessimistic 🤣
This was cute! Josh and Wyatt were sweet with their flirting at the bakery, to an adorable and romantic first date. Josh was insecure about his looks and Wyatt was pretty straightforward and direct about how attractive he found Josh. This was a bit fluffy, a bit insta love, a lot sweet and sexy. I enjoyed it. It was fun seeing all the T&T men back before the timeline in any of the books too! Kale Williams did a nice job narrating this short. His voice is smooth and comforting and was perfect for this!
Yes, this is slightly short because you know it’s like a prequel almost but it was actually super adorable and cute how they kind of just you know like clicked. found it adorable how shy Josh was and then Wyatt was really cool. A little sad I won’t really get to see them because I guess they moved to New York. Still really cute that we got to like get introduced to them I guess.

Short opposites attract story. Wyatt is the sexy tattooed baker and Josh is the guy with low self esteem issues. I liked the whole idea around what constituted cool and stereotypes based on looks, but felt their conversations were really stilted. The dialogue didn't flow for me and that kind of spoilt it
Set before the first book (Marry Me) it offers a quick glimpse into the series with characters that weren't in the following books. It was cute, body positive and a little insta-love but it worked
2.5 stars, rounded down - I think I got suckered by the promise of body positivity, but it was just pretty meh. I really enjoyed the first few books in this Tattoos & Temptations series, but more were just so-so, including this one.
It was a sweet story but a little bit twee. The rest of the books have been recommended so I thought i would start with this prequel. I’ll read the next book to see it gets better.
This was a super cute novella. I read it after reading the first 4 books. It was strange the future couples not being together. But this story was so sweet and romantic. It deserved telling.
This was a cute, quick little read set in the Tattoos and Temptations series before all of the guys starting finding their HEAs. Wyatt and Josh aspire sweet.
