Insert Happy Ending

Rate this book
A decade after high school, the most popular jock and the biggest nerd meet again by chance. Is ten years too late to insert a happy ending...?

Ben Hamilton was everyone’s ideal dreamboat – in high school. But now, he’s all grown up. With a business degree and his long-time girlfriend, his life is perfect. Until he meets Marga Daniels – again. Marga Daniels was the science nerd with better things to do than fawn over high school jocks – no matter how hot. Ten years ago in high school, the two of them couldn't have been more different. When a twist of fate brings them back together, they find out that they might not have turned out to be such different people after all. People can change after ten years. But their happily ever after may be trickier than they thought. Especially when there are other people involved.

Ben and Marga take a shot at the chance they might've already missed. And you can probably guess the rest. Or can you...?

This did not give me the warm and fuzzy vibes. It felt like one giant cheating trope.

He was the popular jock in high school, she was the science nerd. They had nothing in common. When they meet again 10 years later, will things be different? The story line is good and the characters are well developed and have chemistry together. An enjoyable read.

I enjoyed the idea of a man and a woman meeting up unexpectedly after several years apart to rekindle a romance. I wasn’t expecting the emotional affair between the two MCs. You can’t end a 10 year relationship over the phone?

It is established in the first or second chapter that he has a girlfriend and she is engaged. I skipped to the end to see how Breaker was going to make that work. Just not my cup of tea.

This is the story of Marga and Ben. Two people who run into each other 10 years after high school at a work training event. She was the shy smart girl and he was the typical jock. During the week as they reconnect and get to know each other they find an instant connection. However both have significant others and live on completely different continents. Do they take a chance on a Happy Ever After? Overall this was a short novelette with engaging characters. I would love a followup to this story.

3⭐️ This was a cute short story. Did it feel like borderline cheating yeah, maybe? Did I enjoy it yeah, maybe? She is a geek type and he’s a jock type. They went to HS together but he never paid attention to her. Now they meet at a week long conference and spark a friendship. He immediately is intrigued by her despite having a girlfriend at home. And she is the one with morals with a fiancé at home. After all she fights him off or tries too, this man can’t give it up. Hahahaha. I love a man who knows what he wants and will fight for it, it was excessive totally, no means no but it was alright!

A sweet story about high school classmates reuniting after 10 years of not seeing each other. Ben is still the classic high school good-looking jock that can have any girl he wants while Marga is the nerd that has turned into a beauty with brains. I loved how they were able to connect after so long and finally meet each other. The discovery that they each go through to figure out their feelings kept me wanting more. I was so invested in Ben's attempts that my heart broke a little when he gets rejected by the only woman he ever really wanted. Such a sweet happily ever after story.

second look

It’s not a second chance as they only knew of each other in high school, he was the super popular, super jock that all the girls dreamed of. She was the super nerd and that’s all he knew of her. They meet again at a professional conference years later and miles away from their past. It was all well and good except they were both in committed relationships which bothered me. That’s not ok to throw off years with your “one” after spending a few hours over the space of a few days with someone else. Yes it was “clean”, but the premise was kind of slimy.

cheesy

Girl meets boy again after 10 years of no longer being in school. This is about Marga and Ben meeting each other technically for the first time since they only knew of each other in high school. I round this to be really cheesy and not really my favorite read. They both had significant others when the book started, Ben left his girlfriend after realizing he was never I live with her after spending time with Marga. Then Marga decides to give him a chance on the last few pages of the short read.

I thought the concept of the story was good.
Girl meets boy again after 10 years, boy meets girl for pretty much the first time in life.
I wouldn't necessarily call it a second chance romance though.
It was fast paced and the characters had a bit of understated chemistry. I wasn't overly fond of how she left her fiancé though.
Its a sweet, short romance read, but I would have liked a few more details and depth.

This was a cute beginning novella. The beginning started out a little slower than expected. I wanted a little more steam between the two earlier on. But then, the steam does and the chemistry and heat come. By the end all you want is for them to be together. It definitely leaves you wanting more and to know more. This is a pretty good start to a beginning of a series. Interested to see what comes next for this author.

Enjoyed this storyline very much. It had all of the pull of those big romantic storylines, only said in fewer words! Enjoyed Maga and Ben as lead characters and their personalities. Maga, typical and very honest with her emotions and thoughts although she is a Nerd. Ben, typical hunk of a jock with the looks to get all of the women in the room to follow him with their eyes and drool. Ben's sincerity and truth won me over. Nice easy read with plenty of drama to want to follow til end.

This was a very sweet, clean romance book. I was a quick read, but it didn’t feel rushed at all. The chemistry between Ben and Marga was amazing to read. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a clean adult romance. Overall, I loved it!
I received this as a free ARC copy, but all opinions are my own.

I was totally disappointed that the whole story happened while the two main characters were independently in a committed relationship. It could have been a sweet story if not for the fact that they actually both cheated, even though “nothing” happened. I guess I have different values and expect more honesty from my spouse!

I liked Ben and Marga. The story was pretty good although the ending seemed rushed. I could understand Ben breaking off with his girlfriend of 10 years as they just seemed to stay together but didn't really spend that much time together. But Marga was engaged and seemed to really care for the guy. Plus they didn't really know each other personally in school and decide to change things up after only seeing each other for 3 days, which seemed kind of unrealistic.

This would of been a really sweet short story if both of the characters were single and not in a serious relationship. Just could not get past the fact that they were both in a serious relationship (10 years of dating and 1 year of engagement) yet was falling for each other.

Could have had potential to be really lovely but I'm not personally a fan of storylines where there is cheating or people leaving someone just to be with someone else, the way it's done in this feels a bit ick to me. But for some they may love this, it's just definitely not a story for me.

** Waste of time **

What kind of ending was that?? What a waste of time. This book ends at the point in the story that would normally be about halfway through. Don't waste your time.

better than I thought!

I was really nervous there for a minute. I’m not down for cheaters! But it worked out and was a good, quick, closed door romance.

This was a short Bookfunnel freebie.
Marga and Ben went to the same high school but they weren't friends. When they meet again ten years later there is an attraction but they are both with other people.

There were cute bits but it enda a little abruptly. Did she break up with the fiance or what? You do have to insert your own happy ending.

Short but well despicted characters. Though I did not really like the déjà-vu story of the boys who has it all but pin for what je can't have, the girl who is attracted but push him back with sass.
Well it could have worked, but I just kept chanting "cliché, cliché" as I read ans could not enjoy it.
I was more intersted in their way of trying to work out things and the slow realization that maybe they don't really like their life as it is and maybe they chose it because of the comfort it was promising.
