Robin Wildwood is settling into her new role as Head Witch… kind of. At least her squirrel familiar, Tansy, is enjoying their return to her childhood home of Wildwood Heath - when she isn't getting into fights with Robin's aunt's scheming magpie familiar, that is.
Between lectures from her grandmother's ghost and the pressure to live up to her family's high expectations, Robin hopes for some light relief when she's invited to attend a retirement party with the local Sky Hopper team - especially when it gives her an excuse to spend time with Harvey, her old crush and the current team captain. But when the party's host unexpectedly drops dead, the blame lands on none other than Harvey himself.
Robin is keen to prove Harvey's innocence, but defending her would-be boyfriend from a murder accusation is tricky when her over-achieving older brother happens to be the head of the local police force and the person with the power to decide Harvey's fate. If they lose their captain, the Sky Hopper team will have to hang up their broomsticks for good, but the world of professional magical sports is as scheming as any of the covens. Regardless, Robin isn't inclined to lie down and let the real killer get away with their crimes.
Can Robin navigate this bumpy flight and find the real killer before Harvey finds himself behind bars?
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
Dead as A Dodo is Book 3 in the Wildwood Witch Series by Elle Adams. This is a fantastic new series that I really enjoy!
Robin Wildwood is getting used to being Head Witch. She is back in Wildwood Heath with her familiar squirrel Tansy, who is totally a scene stealer and a fantastic character.
There is a murder and Robin's new love interest Harvey is the main suspect. She tries hard to prove he is innocent. But Robin's brother is the head of police and he is a by the book kind of person which complicates matters.
Not to mention Harvey is the captain of the Sky Hoppers team and magical sports are cutthroat!
This was a fantastic story with well developed story line and a mystery that kept me guessing until the end. Cannot wait for the next book in the series!

As the weeks go by Robin is settling into her duties as Head Witch but is still finding it hard to build on her friendship with Harvey when she's facing opposition over being able to have any kind of romantic relationship.
Things come to a head when she goes with Harvey for a Sky Hopper party for Jensen's retirement and Gabriel's welcome to the team. Ase Jensen takes his first bite of the cake he chokes and dies. Chaos ensues as the party goers think the cake has been poisoned; but as Ramsey begins his investigation it turns out that someone slid a spare Captain's badge into the slice and it blocked Jensen's airway.
With Ramsey overworking on the case, and trying to dissuade her from seeing Harvey, Robin is eager to help especially when Ramsey seems to be fixed on Harvey as the main suspect.
Robin is also having lessons with her grandmother on using the sceptre, trying to stop Aunt Shannon from spying on Rowan and digging into the other Sky Hopper team members trying to find out what is going on with Tomas and Gabriel.
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Robin was a witch who happened to also be the misfit in her family. Her grandmother was ahead which in the region where she lived. She left the small town she lived in to get away from her family and live life the way she wanted. Then her grandmother died. She went home for the funeral and was expecting to only be there for a couple of days and then get back to her home and go back to work. Then she was chosen to be Hedwige to replace her grandmother and all of her plans changed. She has a knack for solving mysteries though and her brother is the head of the local police. To his consternation she helps him solve if you mystery here in there. This is another book in a magic world by this author. A few of the characters from another series or mentioned here and there end it is a fun read. Check it out
Robin is trying to fit back in in Wildwood Heath as Head Witch. When Harvey invites her to the retirement party for the former captain of the Sports team Sky Hopper, Jensen, she’s thrilled. However, Jensen chokes to death after eating a piece of retirement cake. Seems someone put a captain’s badge in his slice of cake. Head of police & brother to Robin, Ramsey, suspects everyone on the team, especially Harvey. Robin has to find the true culprit or lose her possible boyfriend before their romance takes off. Read this story in few hours because I couldn’t put it down. Long may this series continue!
Another murder, they seem to follow the Head Witch.
Just when Robin thinks things have settled down and she and Harvey can start dating the rug gets yanked right out from under them. Wait. It gets worse, Harvey quickly becomes the main person of interest. Robin is still having problems using the scepter and it's magic no matter how she tries. I love this series, it is fun. The characters are endearing and the storyline is interesting. It will keep you hooked from the first words until the last and you will be rooting for Robin the whole way through. I highly recommend this book and series. Can't Wait for the next one.
Ramsey is "stressed out" and being patriarchy's poster child. Maybe if he spent as much time doing his job as he does berating his sister, his life would be easier?
He didn't check the alibis of suspects? But gets upset when Robin interferes with cases? Maybe don't be incompetent Ramsey. And stop being abusive to your sister.
It enrages me when male characters think they can control women's lives.
Poor Robin: people keep dying around her. To make it worse, her boyfriend is the number one suspect this time. Her brother is sure he’s got the killer. It’s up to Robin to find the real killer. A thoroughly enjoyable cozy mystery romp. I smell a Library Witch crossover coming up next!
Such a great read. Going out on a date is so hard to do being the head witch and when a murder happens right in the middle of one it does not make things any better and now she had to prove who did it to get her brother off her back ... and so much more...
The second book in a row with a sports based mystery. I am not a sports fan. I'm glad to see the main character start to stand up to her family. I love the squirrel.
I didn't like this one quite as much as the other two. The mystery was good, but I found Robin's stubbornness in this case to be a bit off putting. As always, Tansy was the best part.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
Another fun cozy story in this series! These are such easy reads with fun characters. Perfect to listen to when I need something that doesn't require a ton of thought to keep up with what's going on!
