Unexpected Lovers #1

The Covert Cam Girl

Rate this book
Become a covert cam girl to help boost my self-esteem... what’s the worst that can happen?
Apparently, everything.

The idea seems innocent enough at first. Turn my room into an online fantasy world, and hide my identity behind a sexy maid's outfit and cute mask. Everything is going great until Atticus Blaine, a gorgeous single dad who I’ve been quietly pining over, recognizes me on one of my live feeds.

The epic misunderstanding that follows has me bending over backward to avoid the man. But it's near impossible with us living in the same building. And the little fact that he's determined to hunt me down. It all has to end at some point though, because taking the stairs is really starting to suck.

My roommates say I should just give in and let him catch me. But the decision is taken out of my hands when the sight of his bangin' bod distracts me so much, I end up scalding myself with boiling hot coffee. He swoops in to save me, but his help comes at a cost...

*Be ready for a smokin' hot single father, his cocky teenage son, an endearingly sweet heiress with a questionable hobby and hilariously witty banter that will have you snort-laughing in no time in this opposites attract romantic comedy.*

This is a light, short, low-conflict romance. It's not exactly instalove, but it's close. Like, what's really fast, but not instant? The Flash? So it's flashlove? Sigh. Okay, that's not ever going to become a thing, but that's what this is.

The heart of this story is Kinsley and her quest for self-confidence. Her sexy-feed (definitely not porn) was started to build her confidence and it mostly works. Plus, it draws in Atticus when he catches his son perving on the neighbor he (Atticus, not the son) recognizes despite the flirty mask she wears for, well, reasons.

And seriously, you don't need to know much more than that. Okay, fine, there's a squick formula* violation that is totally overlooked/ignored. But then, we aren't in reality-land here, so that was a minor point. In all, this is a decently-entertaining three stars, most of which works because I liked Kinsley.

A note about Steamy: There are a handful of explicit sex scenes that nearly overwhelm my steam tolerance for such a short, straight-forward story. They're romance sex, where even the devirgining isn't terrible or much more than momentarily uncomfortable. Again, this shouldn't be a surprise given the cover and blurb.

* A note about the squick formula: Basically, you take the age of the oldest, divide by two, and add seven. So in this story, Atticus is 36 / 2 = 18 +7 = 25. Kinsley is 24.

When you are in a reading slump and you barely breathing because of the hotness outside (and at this point inside my house too) sometimes you just want to sit down and read ANYTHING.
I almost give this book 4 stars, but near 65% I felt like the author wanted to get over with this boring get-to-know-each-other phrase and wanted to jump to the juicy stuff - if you know what I mean. Which is fine but I missed the part when they actually fell in love with each other.
I already forget about this book or the character's name.
Ok read. The writing style is fine.

This book was just really boring to me. A lot of the dialog felt a little awkward, there wasn’t an interesting plot beside two people getting together, and every single one of the characters was just boring. I wish her being a cam girl was incorporated more into the story. If they left that part out literally nothing would change because they never really talk about it again. It’s a pretty quick read that you could enjoy if you’re just looking for something lighter but I guess I just wasn’t in the mood today.

This was my first book by JB Heller so I wasn't sure what to expect. I did enjoy this for the most part, but it took me a bit. Kinsley played games in the beginning and I just wanted her to be real and honest with Atticus about herself and even just her name. Atticus was an alpha male and we all know that I love those.

Once they got to know each other and admitted their feelings, they became a cute couple. I enjoyed them and how their relationship with Atticus's son turned out. He was really the star of the book. He kept me laughing.

All in all, while it wasn't a favorite for me, I am interested in reading more in this series.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

When you are laughing so hard you are crying on the very first page you know you have a fantastic story ahead. That's how Flirty is. JB Heller is a pro at writing rom-coms and this is definitely no exception. Atticus is a single father to Arlo, an incorrigible 16 year old boy lol. Kinsley, aka Sadie to Arlo, is a beautiful woman that lives in their building. The sparks are flying between Atticus and Kinsley even though she is almost painfully shy and insecure thanks to her family. Their story is hilariously funny, full of steam, amazing characters and a HEA. I can not wait for more of this series!

Flirty - J B Heller
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Flirty, fun, fabulous..... three superlatives to describe this wonderful offering from JB Heller.

A wonderfully real ensemble of characters with Atticus Blaine, the seriously hot, single dad, divorce lawyer as the primary male character. He’s everything a girl like Kinsley needs to blossom. Kinsley struggles under the unrealistic expectations of her family but a hilarious encounter with Atticus leads her to discover her real self.

Wonderful supporting characters with tie-ins to JB Hellers “Starfish” and of course there’s Arlo...... a sixteen year old horn-dog with wonderfully witty banter. Read the book to understand what this statement is about.

A total blast to read from cover to cover. Recommended reading with no reservations.
Though a stand-alone, Reading Starfish first would only enhance your reading enjoyment.

Thanks for another fabulous story JB Heller.

Atticus and Kinsley we’re everything!!!!! I loved how funny this book was and I didn’t want it to end cause the humor. This is the perfect romcom with a hero and heroine you can’t help but love. Atticus and Kinsley first encounter was epic and I loved how Atticus finally made Kinsley come out of her shadow!

From the Aussie author that brought you the verbal diarreah & naked neighbour of Pink Bits, the flannel wearing hottie and vagina assaulting llama of Blue Beaver and the hunky no-committments and lack of lust starfishing in bed of Starfish Method... comes a new quirky offering - FLIRTY!

FLIRTY is so hilarious, it had me laughing aloud like a crazy person while I was reading in public. We all know someone who undervalues themselves, we all know a couple who can't keep their hands off each other and we all know demanding mothers, bitchy sisters and super quirky girl gangs friends. I read it in a day and as always with a JB book, am going to be rereading and dying until another comes out. Loved, loved, loved it... All I can say is you never know who's watching and where it can lead - Thank god for do-overs!

“I don’t want to share you. Not with him. Not with your online audience. Not with anyone.”

Oh wow, everything about this book had me like yes! 💜

Kinsley was a breath of fresh air, she was so oblivious and it really showed, she was a beautiful person with a beautiful soul but had a really shitty family! I wasn’t expecting Atticus to be a dad but lemme tell you what a man and what a dad he is, his son without a doubt made this book along with her besties (I’m hoping their books are following btw 😏)

This was hilarious while hitting you with the deep and meaningful things happening in both of their lives, they’ve both noticed each other and after a misunderstanding and some avoidance they fall in love and it’s brilliant💜
That mirror scene? Is perfect and heart melting, everyone deserves a man that loves and looks the way Atticus does Kins 😏

Congratulations on this book JB, I loved it and thank you for send me an ARC of Flirty, I can’t wait to see what you come up with next 😘

I will list some of the things I liked about this book.
That the cover pictured a mulberry haired heroine as described in the book.
That the hero was pictured as a mature man that was not a playboy type.
That the heroine was a 26-year-old virgin, shy but healthy.
That this couple professed their love for one another before full-blown sex.
That the father-hero was a role model for his teen son, leading by example.
In spite of these against-the-grain situations, it was a fun, entertaining read.

No one seems to find issues with a boy stealing his dads information to go on adult websites. The dad seems to have no problems letting his son do this. His only thing was to say that’s not right. He has no issues with his sons promiscuity. The boy even showed him his favorite lube because it was on sale he claims. The woman has no issues that an angry parent is confronting her, only that she thinks he’s stalking her. Sure I get it but I think she should have said okay, let’s talk about this. Who is your son, yes how did you find out it was me and handled matters like adults. No one here was an adult. The dads excitement over finding out his son wasn’t seeing “Sadie” because that means she’s fair game for him to move in is also disgusting and disappointing. Sure they’re both legal adults but your son was masturbating to this woman and you had no issues with this only that now you can have some of her yourself. I have no idea what kind of dad this man is. Maybe others looked past how the son always seems to have a different hookup and girl at his new private school his dad enrolled him in but to me when I read a romance book I don’t want to read about underage sex and masturbation. Sorry, I just don’t. I definitely don’t want to read about a dad scooping up the girl his son was jack and the bean stalking over (Atticus’s words, not mine). I love sex and x rated material like the next guy and love all sorts of sexiness. This ISNT one of them. So to me this book is simply a no go. If you think so then okie dokie. This bear 🐻 gave this book 5 angry faces and a nice did not finish. 😡😡😡😡😡

Oh Lordy, Lordy!

I needed a book to reset my mind from other books that I read and writing my own, and this was the perfect one to do it! I was honored to be included for an ARC and I can't thank J.B and Anastasia for that!
The characters had me in the palm of their hands the entire time, Kinsley is so relatable with her own inner struggles and how she was portrayed, many of us could really feel what she was thinking and saying. Her friends were as supportive and amazing as she went through her entire journey it warmed my heart, every girl deserves a tribe like that.
Now, to Mr. Atticus. Woof woof, everything I wanted him to be, down to Earth kind of guy that knew what he wanted and he went for it, no beating around the bush, cutting to the chase, you know the drill. Dreamy? HELL YES. And what rendered me speechless was his continuing support to Kinsley and how he wanted her to be as happy and comfortable as possible. That's the difference between a boy and a man!

Congrats, J.B. I really enjoyed it and I can't freaking wait for the next one, if you'll have me! Your writing is refreshing, witty and funny and I wish you nothing but the best! <3

Okay so this was a quick read for me. I neither loved it nor did I hate it. It was just an enjoyable easy ready.
Would I read it again? Probably not. However I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone away from it.
For me the best character was Kinsley. She battles low self esteem as a result of her dysfunctional mother and sister but she takes steps to empower herself then with the help of Atticus she finds even more confidence.
It's not quite insta-love but it's close. For me it was a uncomplicated read but I liked the characters.
What I didnt really understand or get along with was the relationship between father and son. They were buddy's sure but there were a few moments of cringe for me in their relationship. I mean how many different ways do you need to describe jacking off in one chapter and it seemed like there wasn't any boundaries between Atticus and his son especially where sex was concerned (no I am not a prude it jusf felt like more a friends relationship than father and son.) But really that's the only bad thing I could say about the book.
Enjoyable low angst read.

this was a brilliant quick read....

Kinsley Has lost her confidence after her mother and sister have slowly chipped in out of her, she takes up sexy cleaning cam....

A misunderstanding happens with her Neighbor (who also happens to be her fantasy crush) and from there you have an incredibly sweet novel unfold...

Kinsley was so incredibly likeable you are rooting for her from the start, Throw in the Multi Layered Atticus... (i mean even the Name is sexy and his interactions with his teenage son were brilliant) and you have a great page turner...

Fun and cute story

Cute cute cute! I always love reading jb Heller books and this was no different. The single dad to a 16 year old son who he catches w@nking off to a cam girl! 😂 it was shorter than I would have liked but still a solid read

Such a fun and sexy read. I think I am going to love this series -I love a romantic comedy and I love a series that are standalone but interconnected. I enjoyed Kinsley's growth. I loved Atticus and his relationship with his son. Just all round a fun and cute read.

Flirty is a quick, easy to read and super funny book! I absolutely loved Atticus and Kinsley’s story!
Atticus is now a favourite Hero of mine. He knows what he wants, Kinsley, and he is not giving up until he gets her.
What makes this story so awesome though is Atticus’s son, Arlo. The things that come out of that man child’s mouth are hilarious! I don’t often laugh out loud while reading, but Flirty really got me giggling.
I hope we get to see more of these 3 characters in future books!

Kinsey and Atticus have a story with some many twists and turns. I loved the pop culture reference to the OnlyFans pay to view website. Atticus is so alpha focused on Kinsey you can’t help but root for him.

Everyone needs their own Atticus Blaine. He was the perfect gentleman and swoon-worthy and sexy. Kinsley was just the sweetest and so lovable. It was easy to see how these two would fit and be a match made in heaven. And the scenes with Atticus and Arlo had me laughing-out-loud - I loved their relationship so much.

This was a really cute story that started off with a bang and dished out lots of laughs. I smiled throughout the entire story and couldn’t put it down. A definite must-read for anyone looking for a quick read to get lost in, that is drama-free and an overall good time.

This story actually made me snort. A romantic comedy that will have you laughing and loving every minute of it. The characters are quirky and wonderful throughout this original story. I wish there was more of Atticus and Kinsley as they quickly became two of my favorites. Another hit from a very talented author that you have to read.

I've never been big on the single dad romances, so I was a bit hesitant to read this. However I've loved everything else that I've read by J.B. Heller before so I gave it a go. I'm so glad that I did; I loved this book.

Atticus and Kinsley were such a cute couple. I liked that he wasn't a playboy and was a good role model for his son. Also that he brought out the best in Kinsley even when she couldn't see it herself.

Loved the appearance from other characters from the author's previous books. It's also nice to see how they are going.

Brilliant. Hilarious. Real!

I couldn’t love the characters more, they are raw, real and side-splittingly funny. Beautifully written roller coaster ride with real world elements that leave you wanting more. Not to mention the steamy, hot imagery that JB paints. What a wonderful picture! Highly recommended for your next 5 star read!
