Marrying my nemesis was not part of my weekend plans... Yet here I am.
Last week I woke up married to my baby sister’s best friend. I blame Alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol and a ridiculous amount of readily available chapels in Vegas.
But the catalyst behind our nuptials is of little consequence. It doesn’t change anything. Adley Jane Grander is my wife, and I’m not mad about it. She, however, isn’t as on board as I’d like. In fact, she’s freaking the hell out.
But, I’m nothing if not determined. And while changing her mind is going to be a massive task, I’m the man for the job. Step One- Get her to agree to a deal that involves us living together as man and wife for three months. Step Two- Make her fall in love with me.
JB Heller is an average Aussie housewife and Mumma in her early 30's. She lives on a mini farm with her family and a few cows, sheep, a parrot, cats, fish, dogs, and a butt load of chickens. It's JB's dream to one day add a llama to the mix and an alpaca or two.
She writes across several genre's including RomCom, Romantic Suspense and Contemporary. You can always expect a healthy dose of heat, intrigue and wit in her stories.
Monday to Friday you can find JB glued to her laptop weaving words or trolling Pinterest for her next potential muse. Come the weekend, it's family time. (And of course lots of reading and Netflix binges.)
Dax and Adleys story is so adorably cute that I got me hooked. I loved Dax completely and I couldn’t get enough of how much he wanted his impromptu marriage to Adley work no matter of how she tried to talk him out of it. Such a fun story!
Now, don't you just hate it when you wake up to find you've accidentally gotten married to a sexy god with an insane collection of grey sweatpants? Yeah, me too! NOT! Why can't I wake up accidentally married to my hot bestie? Hang on, I don't have a hot bestie... I want a hot bestie to marry!!! Life is so unfair!
Anyway, back to the book. Now you guys know I love JB, and this is yet another fun, feisty and occasionally steamy story from this great author. I love that she has flipped the usual stereotype of woman wanting marriage and working to convince a reluctant man. Adley is absolutely, positively AGAINST being married to Dax and does everything she can to convince him they shouldn't be together (despite her traitorous body wanting him so badly), while Dax is absolutely, positively adamant that this is meant to be (hey he's been hoping for this for longer than Adley knows).
I love watching as these two butt heads and try to muddle their way not only into a relationship of sorts, but into a marriage that neither remembers happening, neither planned but it going to be if Dax gets his way.
It's funny, it's sad, it makes me jealous that this hasn't happened to me! If you haven't tried out this great Aussie author, I can highly recommend her and this book is a great place to start!
Quirky short story about frenemies who get married in Las Vegas, while drunk. Dax, who's been in love with Adley wants to give it a go, but Adley has serious commitment issues. Her reason will be explained in due course. Dax and Adley have become friends with benefits in secret, while in oublic they cannot stand each other, kind of... After waking up married on a weekend with friends in Las Vegas, Dax suggests to Adley to give it a go. They agree to live together for 3 months and take it from there. While Adley is determined to sabotage Dax at every turn, Dax gives it his all to prove to Adley that he's here to stay! Dax is just a decent and great guy, Adley is extremely insecure and has historic issues. At times I just wanted to throttle her, but she got there in the end. Interesting and well developed characters, the plotline is well thought out. For a short story it covered every angle and never felt rushed or shortened. While this book is part of a wider series, it can be read as a stand alone book.
First things first; I really like the cover of this book! Wooing his accidental wife is the fifth book in the ‘’unexpected lovers’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and hilarious. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline enjoyable. Adley has had a friends with benefits relationship with her best friends brother for two years. When she wakes up in Vegas, married to him, she isn’t happy. Dax loves Adley so he is ecstatic about the situation and is determined to keep his woman. The chemistry between Adley and Dax is clear to see and I liked them together. I have to admit; I did want to shout at Adley to stop running. Dax’s love for Adley was undeniable. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.
Similar to the previous books, this was written with non-American expressions despite being set in America. Add to that, it was poorly edited (e.g. Champaign instead of champagne). That all set me to a negative mind frame for reading it. So that may be why I didn't understand at all why Dax cared one way or another about Ads. She didn't come off as particularly likeable even in the previous book, and if she hid so much of herself from everyone there wasn't much opportunity for him to see her good side. And it simply wasn't as funny as the previous books.
I received this ARC for an honest review When Dax wakes up on Las Vegas married to his sisters best friend Adley the Commitment phobe. He's exactly where he wanted to be admittedly the whole get drunk and getting married wasn't part of his plan well the married part maybe. But he is not unappy about the outcome his only problem is getting Adley to stay married to him. He loves her and he know she cares about him. So he is going to woo her. The road ahead is gonna be bumpy but Dax is up for the challenge Fab tea time read.
Absolutely loved this story!! Adley has been hurt by her past and doesn’t want to get close to anyone. Yet she wakes up married to Dax and he won’t let her go! He convinces her to give it a real shot.
Dax is just so swoony and the lengths he goes to for Adley make you fall more and more in love with him. And Adley is no match for what he does. A wonderful story that hooks you from the very beginning and does not let you go!! Definitely worth the read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the 5th and final book in the Unexpected Lover's series. This rom-com series is amazing. Dax and Adley have been having a secret affair for years. Without telling any of their friends. So what are they going to do when a drunken Las Vegas night ends with them married. Dax is all for it but Adley is not going down without a fight. I have been waiting for Dax and Adley's book and it definitely made me swoon.
What a fantastic story this was. I love these two together so much! Dax was so determined to win her over and was so sweet yet total alpha male lol. Adley has issues and is just as determined not to let herself fall for the sexy, and in her mind infuriating man. Their story is funny, steamy, has some drama and some moments that make you want to slap them. Definitely worth the read! Also, I have to add how much I loved Vinnie's appearance! "I will pluck you" 🤣🤣. That crazy bird is hilarious.
Dax and Adley were not my favourite pairing going into this but as usual JB wrote these characters in a way that was so earthy and relatable. I could connect with Adley and see things in her that I’ve lived myself. This made me fall more in love with their story as I read and laughed, and aww’d my heart out. Dax was also a wonderfully beautiful character and his personality really spoke volumes. What a wonderful and not surprisingly 5 star read.
Did I laugh? Yes, yes I did. But of all of the books, I was a little disappointed in this one. Adley isn't the most likable person (trauma does that to a person), but at the same time, she takes it to extremes that made me feel like she was using Dax as a doormat. Definitely on Dax's side for this one. I really loved the ending though, it was a wonderful way to end the series.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this story, and it was DEFINITELY worth it! Adley was so prickly, but it was just surface deep. And Dax **swoon** he’s sexy and sweet, understanding and thoughtful. The whole package. Reading love story was absolutely hilarious, and completely entertaining. I got lost in the story, completely captivated.
Looking for a fun, afternoon read? This story will have you turning pages and losing track of time for a couple of hours. You will smile, laugh, and fall so in love with Dax. Yes, you may scream at times, but this story is one you want to read. Catching up with other characters you loved from previous stories is an added bonus.
That is one of the stars and the other was that Dax seemed like a good guy. So, I'm gonna be harsh (and I'm glad the h figured herself out by the end)... But the entire story I never read one redeemable quality about her! I have not read any of the other books in this series so all I can go off of was what I was given in this book.
I loved this book so much! It had everything in it that made Dax and Ad's relationship so awesome! Dax stuck by her despite her attempts to push him away and he was able to break down her walls! It was an emotional roller coaster but so much worth it!
Dax obviously loves Adley but she is really difficult about their romance. I liked that Dax persevered. Not as funny as the others in the series but still had some good witty moments.
Dax and Adley’s story of waking up in Las Vegas married is a cute short read. Dax has a challenge of convincing Ads that this is marriage is the right thing for them and that she loves him as much as he loves her- even though she will keep trying to deny it and push him away. It’s a bumpy road!
This series seemed to dull a bit with each book. That’s why I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like this one. However, I was in deep so might as well finish the series. Wrong! I should’ve listened to my inner voice. DNF after a dull 15%
I need more in this series 😩. I'm not ready to be done with this group! I enjoyed Adley and Dax's story. Dax is full of patience and I am glad it paid off for him! Loved the surprise cameo of Vinnie too 😂.
I liked this story a lot. However, this book could have used another look over by an editor. There were enough grammatical errors that I found it distracting and this is a particular issue with me.
Dax is such a sweet man. He’s hot and got the loved but also endearing and caring. Adley I didn’t much care for. I get she has issues but man she was a pill and I wanted better for Dax.
Adley and Dax have been frenemies with benefits for a couple years. They ended up married in Vegas and he wants to stay married. She doesn't. She has trust issues because of her daddy and keeps trying to push him away and get an annulment. Dax is persistent. Very entertaining read!
